  • Even though the success of the information system (IS) protect becomes a critical issue to an enterprise and there has been a lot of research about finding critical success factors of IS projects, the scope management for the success of IS protect has received little attention in the literature. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of the project scope management activities defined by PMI (Project Management Institute) on the performance of the information system project. The focus of this paper is on the project supplier's point of view. This study shows the priority of the scope management activities during the IS Project. The results show the different results depending on the types of the project clients and the project scale. This research reveals that the scope verification is important for the project supplier from the project process view, and that the scope planning/definition is important for the protect client from the project result view. It also shows different results comparing to the conventional recognition about project success. The research results show that the positive relationships between the project scale and the importance of scope management activities, and between the familiarity of suppliers and clients and the importance of the scope management activities. Through this research, we expect that the importance of the scope management in a project will be considered as an important issue, and that this research will lead to various detailed research about this issue.

  • This paper investigates the effects of technology collaboration between the main supplier and buyer on buyer's new product development under dynamic environment. Based on 428 Korean manufacturing firms, we conducted regression analysis. The technology collaboration between the main supplier and buyer is adopted as a independent variable and quality, cost and lead time performance of new product development projects are used as dependents variables. Environment dynamic is also used as a moderate variables. We found that the in general, technology collaboration is positively associated with the performance of buyers' new product development, but in the high degree of dynamic environment, technology collaboration is negatively associated with the performance of buyers' new product development unlike our expectation. Thus, we divide our sample into two groups; shipbuilding industry with the low degree of environment dynamic and electronic and IT device industry with the high degree of environment dynamic and conducted a post hoc analysis. As a result, in ship building industry, the technology collaboration is significant to improve NPD projects performance, while in electronic and IT device industry, the technology collaboration with a main supplier is not significant as well as coefficient is negative. In that, under the highly dynamic condition with the fast change of technology and products obsolescence the NPD collaboration with the main supplier does not works unlike a stable environment. This implies that the NPD attributes of buyer are different by their environmental factor and the fit between given environmental feature and the collaboration synergy is critical factor for improving the effect of NPD collaboration between supplier and buyer.

  • This article examines the Practical Suggestions in the Contract for the Turnkey Supply of an Industrial Plant based on a study focused on the commentary of "ICC Model Contract" clause which is encouraged by ICC. Especially practical issues are inquired into on business and legal perspective as follows. First, in regard to supply of technical documentation, equipment and spare parts, it is important to supplier and purchaser to agree on obtaining technical documents necessary for installing and operating plant, and also components necessary for it's maintenance. Second, it is about erection, testing, taking over and training chapter. Both parties need to agree about the process of the arrival of equipments and assembly conducted by the supplier and following examination and also training purchaser to operate it Third, when it comes to price, payment conditions, bank guarantees, parties are to make decision on the pricing, payment conditions and currency of contract-payment. Lastly, it is necessary to reach an agreement of the issue of whether it is to be defined as delay or non-performance of the contract and also it's consequences about rights and obligation.

  • Owing to the current economic downturn, one of the most important goals of the organizations who are actively involved in Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) is the cost efficiency. We focus on supplier firm's domain understanding to make the cost efficiency; therefore, we examine how the disadvantages from lower domain knowledges affect outsourcing performance moderated by outsourcing ratio and knowledge change environments. That is, if clients can endure disadvantage from service providers' lower domain knowledge, they can achieve cost efficiency by choosing lower domain knowledge suppliers with less expensive cost. To examine performance gap depending on the environments, we applied 'A Learning Model of IT Outsourcing' which is suggested by previous literature. As a result, we suggest five strategies for clients to contract with suppliers which have lower domain knowledge: (1) Prepare the strategy to endure disadvantages from the early stage. (2) Make the strategy depending on outsourcing ratio. (3) Knowledge transfer between organizations is important. (4) Make a short-term contract if they do not have good environments for organizational learning. (5) Client's knowledge change environments are more important than those of supplier's. Finally, we offer various implications for clients and suppliers in IT outsourcing.

  • As the global market becomes more competitive, manufacturing industries face relentless pressure caused by a growing tendency of greater varieties of products, shorter manufacturing cycles and more sophisticated customer requirements. Efficient and effective supplier selection and order allocation decisions are, therefore, important decisions for a manufacturer to ensure stable material flows in a highly competitive supply chain, in particular, when customers are willing to accept products with less desirable product attributes (e.g., color, delivery date) for economic reasons. This paper attempts to solve optimally the challenging problem of supplier selection and order allocation, taking into consideration the customer flexibility for a manufacturer producing multi-products to satisfy the customers' demands in a multi period planning horizon. A new mixed integer programming model is developed to describe the behavior of the supply chain. The objective is to maximize the manufacturer's total profit subject to various operating constraints of the supply chain. Due to the complexity and non-deterministic polynomial-time (NP)-hard nature of the problem, an improved genetic approach is proposed to solve the problem optimally. This approach differs from a canonical genetic algorithm in three aspects: a new selection method to reduce the chance of premature convergence and two problem-specific repair heuristics to guarantee feasibility of the solutions. The results of applying the proposed approach to solve a set of randomly generated test problems clearly demonstrate its excellent performance. When compared with applying the canonical genetic algorithm to locate optimal solutions, the average improvement in the solution quality amounts to as high as ten percent.

  • The government announced that it would ask the contractors not only the supplier but also the contractors to take the same responsibilities if they did not observe industrial accident safety measures from 2019. The semiconductor manufacturing process belongs to the representative disaster industry group in which the facility is directly located inside a closed space called clean room. According to previous studies, the semiconductor industry group used checklists for safety management of their suppliers. This study has developed a model for assessing suppliers by constructing a quantitative checklist item through the risk assessment methodology, laws and regulations. The evaluation model of the supplier set up through this study becomes the safety management standard in the semiconductor industry. Furthermore, it is applied to the partner companies in the operation of ISO 14001, 45001, I would like to apply it as a measure of performance management for CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
