Repetitive nerve stimulation is a simple and widely used technique to demonstrate neuromuscular transmission defect. A significant decremental response for repetitive hypoglossal nerve stimulation was obtained from the surface recordings in the tongue of a patient with dysarthria and dysphagia. Repetitive hypoglossal nerve stimulation test may be useful in diagnosis of myasthenia gravis with bulbar symptoms only. We utilized repetitive hypoglossal nerve stimulation with tongue recordings and diagnosed a case of myasthenia gravis.

We performed the autologous epidural blood patch (AEBP) for the relief of headache and other related symptoms following dural punctures of the lumbar region during 8 years from 1981 to 1988. The total of 37 patients with the patching consisted of 9 cases in 3007 of spinal anesthesia, 12 accidental dural punctures in 4283 cases of lumbar epidural anesthesia, 12 cases in 4747 of epidural analgesia for back pain control, 3 cases of myelography and a case of diagnostic lumbar puncture. The headaches were relieved completely in 35 cases following the first AEBP and the remaining two were also relieved following the second AEBP. We think that the AEBP for postdural-puncture headache is the treatment of choice.

The Melkersson-Rosenthal (M-R) syndrome consists of a triad of (1) recurrent peripheral facial nerve paralysis which develops alternately on both sides of face, (2) non-inflammatory facial edema, and (3) fissuring of tongue. A 59 years old female patient developed the left facial palsy on September, 1988. Right facial palsy developed continuously 2 months later after the spontaneous remission of left facial palsy. On February, 1989, we have found out M-R syndrome which accompanied with migraine type of intermittent headache, and hypertension in one attack of cerebral stroke several years ago, there were no diabetes mellitus, pulmonary tuberculosis and brain tumor in clinical studies. Although the causes of this syndrome were not noted, we performed the stellate ganglion block and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation for treatment of the palsy, but the clinical effectiveness of these were not satisfactory.

The antifungal activities of the bee venom against Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Trichophyton rubrum were determined by using modified broth dilution assay. The most common dermatophytes, named T. mentagrophytes and T. rubrum, were known to cause a variety of cutaneous infections in humans and animals. The bee venom exhibited prominent antifungal activities against the two dermatophytes tested in this investigation. Moreover, the antifungal activities of the bee venom were much stronger than that of fluconazole, one of the commercial antifungal drugs used in the treatment and prevention of superficial and systemic fungal infections. The result suggests that bee venom could be developed as a natural antifungal drug.

최근의 인터넷환경은 다양한 형태의 가상 및 원격 교육이 가능한 기반을 제공하고 있으며, 대학 및 교육기관에서는 이를 활용한 새로운 교육용 도구의 개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문은 시공간의 제약 없이 실험을 수행할 수 있도록 하여 학습자들에게 반복 학습이 가능하도록 하였고, 유량제어를 실현 할 수 있는 비선형 시스템의 이중탱크 기구를 이용하여 다양한 제어이론을 실험할 수 있는 웹기반 실험실을 구현하였다. 전체 시스템은 SISO 시스템과 MIMO 시스템을 학습자가 선택하여 실험할 수 있도록 하였다. 유량제어 방식은 수동, PID, FUZZY 제어로 실험할 수 있도록 하여 학습자들에게 여러 가지 제어이론을 다양하게 학습할 수 있도록 구성하였으며, 릴레이 자기 동조법을 구현하여 학습자들로 하여금 PID변수를 확인할수 있도록 하였다. 또한 Web-Cam을 통하여 실험화면을 실시간으로 확인하면서 시뮬레이션을 동시에 실행하여 비교할 수 있도록 구현하였다.

In both cosmetic and functional aspects, loss of digital pulp is a common problem. Compound or composite defects of the hand and fingers with exposed denuded tendon, bone, joint, or neurovascular structures may require flap coverage. Most often these lesions can be repaired by using simple local flap, neurovascular flap, thenar flap, and cross-finger flap. But microvascular reconstruction is sometimes needed for large defects. But Authors do not recommend these procedures in case of severe crushing injuries involving multiple finger pulp losses because they have possibility of damage of the vascular network and infection. So we applied distant flaps such as chest flaps, groin flaps, abdominal flaps and etc. And then we applied surgical rubber gloves for remodeling the flap after cutaneous healing. We have acquired satisfactory results, after the simple molding method for distant flap finger by using surgical rubber gloves treatment.

Background: Finding of the regulation of various gene expression by cytokine including $IFN-{\gamma}$ in hematopoietic stem cell will light up the understanding of pathogenesis of aplastic anemia in various aspects. To study on aplastic anemia, however, we have to circumvent the difficulty of directly obtaining bone marrow stem cells from the patient. Therefore, we tried to find out a cell can replace the bone marrow stem cells for study on cell signaling pathway and regulation of gene expression by $IFN-{\gamma}$. Materials and Methods: HL-60 cells, of 20 ng/mL of $IFN-{\gamma}$. Total RNA was isolated from the cells and RT-PCR of the indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO), $IFN-{\gamma}$, TNF-${\alpha}$, $MIP-1{\alpha}$, and $TGF-{\beta}2$ was carried out for the estimation of the gene expression. Results: $IFN-{\gamma}$ induced IDO gene expression of mononuclear cells from umbilical cord blood showed similar pattern as compared to that of bone marrow. Whether $INF-{\gamma}$ was treated or not, $TNF-{\alpha}$ was expressed in both mononuclear cells from umbilical cord blood and bone marrow. However, HL-60 cells showed different expression patterns. HL-60 cells would express neither IDO nor $TNF-{\alpha}$ even under the culture with 20ng/mL of $IFN-{\gamma}$. Conclusion: Our results showed bone marrow can be replaced with mononuclear cells from umbilical cord blood in the study on the relation between aplastic anemia and $IFN-{\gamma}$ including $IFN-{\gamma}$ cell signaling pathway.

전력소모를 감소시키기 위해 MEMS 기술을 이용하여 마이크로 히터를 제작하고 그 위에 감지물질을 도포하여 마이크로 센서를 제작하였다. 마이크로 가스센서는 $SnO_2$를 모물질로 하였으며 가스 감도를 향상시키기 위해 Pd와 Rh, ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_5$, $V_2O_5$를 첨가하여, CO 가스 강도를 조사하였다. $SnO_2$에 촉매로서 Pd만을 첨가하였을 때보다 Rh, ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_5$. $V_2O_5$등을 첨가하였을 때 CO가스에 대한 감도 반응이 우수하였다. 마이크로 가스센서의 소비전력은 42mW이었다.

To evaluate the clinical significance of lung ventilation scan using $^{99m}Tc-DTPA$ in patient with bronchiectasis, we compared the involovement area of bronchogram and lung ventilation scan according to lobar and segmental distribution. There were no correlation between impairment of pulmonary function test and the number of bronchiectatic lobe and segment(p>0.5). Lung ventilation scan showed 66.7% of sensivity, 100% of specificity, ana 91.7% of accuracy according to lobar distribution, and 51.9% of sensivity, 96.9% of specificity, and 88.9% of accuracy according to segmental distribution. These results suggest that lung ventilation scan can be used as diagnostic tool in patient with bronchiectasis in whom bronchogram is not tolerable.
