Liquid-Composting Conditions of By-product Obtained from Degradation of Animal Carcass for Agriculture Recycling (폐가축사체의 농업적 재활용을 위한 가축사체 액상부산물의 액비화 조건 구명)

  • BACKGROUND: Globally, concern about emerging infectious diseases of livestock is growing. For the disposal of the animal carcass, it is necessary to recycle the carcass into an agriculturally usable product. The objective of this study was to investigate the composting conditions of liquid by-product obtained from degradation of animal carcass. METHODS AND RESULTS: Optimum conditions of liquid fertilizer were investigated using different microorganisms, pHs, and volumes of microorganisms (Lactobacillus rhamnosus+Pichia deserticola). Based on the results from the optimum conditions, compost maturity and quality of liquid fertilizer were evaluated for 112 days. The compost maturity of liquid fertilizer were higher in the order of LP(Lactobacillus rhamnosus + Pichia deserticola) > BC(Bacillus cereus) > BS(Bacillus subtilis). The optimum condition under different volumes of LP was injection of 0.5 mL/100 mL. The compost maturity under different pHs were higher in the order of pH 7 > $$5{\geq_-}9{\frac{._-}{.}}11$$. The liquid by-product at 56 days after composting was completely decomposed. The concentrations of T-N, T-P and $K_2O$ in liquid fertilizer at 56 days were 0.94, 0.17 and 3.78%, respectively, and the sum of those concentrations was 4.89%. CONCLUSION(S): Liquid fertilizer of by-product using pig carcass was decomposed with optimum conditions(LP, pH 7, injection of 0.5 mL/100 mL) in 56 days after composting, and was suitable for official standard of commercial fertilizer.

High Throughput Parallel Design of 2-D $8{\times}8$ Integer Transforms for H.264/AVC (H.264/AVC 를 위한 높은 처리량의 2-D $8{\times}8$ integer transforms 병렬 구조 설계)

  • In this paper, the implementation of high throughput two-dimensional (2-D) $8{\times}8$ forward and inverse integer DCT transform for H.264 is presented. The forward and inverse transforms are represented using simple shift and addition operations. Matrix decomposition and matrix operation such as the Kronecker product and direct sum are used to reduce the computation complexity. The proposed design uses integer computations and does not use transpose memory and hence, the resource consumption is also reduced. The maximum operating frequency of the proposed pipelined architecture is 1.184 GHz, which achieves 25.27 Gpixels/sec throughput rate with the hardware cost of 44864 gates. High throughput and low hardware makes the proposed design useful for real time H.264/AVC high definition processing.

A Study on the Amendment Scheme of Ginsenoside Content Standard Regulation for Red Ginseng Products in Korea (홍삼가공품의 Ginsenoside 함량 규격기준 개선방안 연구)

  • Red ginseng is a widely used dietary supplement and medicinal herb, and there are so many forms of ginseng products including tea, extract, capsule and jelly. The purpose of the present study was to propose some amendments on ginsenoside content of red ginseng products in Korea. For this purpose, we analyzed red ginseng products for simultaneous determination of 26 ginsenosides by ultra performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector. Some developmental aspects of Korea's ginsenoside content standard regulations for red ginseng products are needed to be examined as follows : Firstly, we proposed that four ginsenosides ($Rb_1$, $Rg_1$, Rf and $Rg_3$) would be detected in red ginseng products. Secondly, in case of red ginseng extracts, the sum of $Rb_1$, $Rg_1$ and $Rg_3$ would be 4.0 mg/g. The two proposals are helpful to comprehensive evaluation of quality of red ginseng products. In conclusion, the scientific studies on amendment scheme of ginsenoside content standard regulation of red ginseng product are very important to fortify quality control.

  • Let $C[0,t]$ denote the function space of all real-valued continuous paths on $[0,t]$. In the present paper, using simple formulas for the conditional expectations with the conditioning functions $X_n$ and $X_{n+1}$, we evaluate the $L_p(1{\leq}p{\leq}{\infty})$-analytic conditional Fourier-Feynman transforms and the conditional convolution products of the functions which have the form $${\int}_{L_2[0,t]}{{\exp}\{i(v,x)\}d{\sigma}(v)}{{\int}_{\mathbb{R}^r}}\;{\exp}\{i{\sum_{j=1}^{r}z_j(v_j,x)\}dp(z_1,{\cdots},z_r)$$ for $x{\in}C[0,t]$, where $\{v_1,{\cdots},v_r\}$ is an orthonormal subset of $L_2[0,t]$ and ${\sigma}$ and ${\rho}$ are the complex Borel measures of bounded variations on $L_2[0,t]$ and $\mathbb{R}^r$, respectively. We then investigate the inverse transforms of the function with their relationships and finally prove that the analytic conditional Fourier-Feynman transforms of the conditional convolution products for the functions, can be expressed in terms of the products of the conditional Fourier-Feynman transforms of each function.

Quantitative Study of CO2 based on Satellite Image for Carbon Budget on Flux Tower Watersheds (플럭스 타워 설치 유역을 대상으로 탄소수지 분석을 위한 위성영상자료기반의 CO2 정량화 연구)

  • Spatial heterogeneous characteristics of solar radiation energy from Climate Change gives rise to energy imbalance in the general ecological system including water resources. This study is to estimate the $CO_2$ flux of South Korea using Terra MODIS image and to assess the reliability of MODIS data from the ground measured $CO_2$ flux by eddy covariance flux tower data at 3 locations (two at mixed forest area and one at rice paddy area). The MODIS Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) product (MOD17A2), 8-day composite at 1-km spatial resolution was adopted for the spatial $CO_2$ flux generation. The MOD17A2 data by noise like cloud and snow in a day were tried to fill by Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) method from valid pixels and the damping effect of MOD17A2 data were corrected by Quality Control (QC) flag. The MODIS $CO_2$ flux was estimated as the sum of GPP and Re (ecosystem respiration) by Lloyd and Taylor method (1994). The determination coefficient ($R^2$) between MODIS $CO_2$ and flux tower $CO_2$ for 3 years (2011~2013) showed 0.55 and 0.60 in 2 mixed forests and 0.56 in rice paddy respectively. The $CO_2$ flux generally fluctuated showing minus values during summer rainy season (from July to August) and maintaining plus values for other periods. The MODIS $CO_2$ flux can be a useful information for extensive area, for example, as a reliable indicator on ecological circulation system.

Study of the Valence and Rydberg States of a Lithium Dimer by the Multi-reference Configuration-interaction Method

  • Convergent all-electron multi-reference configuration-interaction (MRCI) calculations are performed for a lithium dimer with Kaufmann's Rydberg basis functions. A comparison of the results of these calculations with those of the effective core potential/core polarization potential (ECP/CPP) method and experimental data reveals the deficiency of the all-electron ab initio method. The deficiency is related to the mere 51.9% attainment of electron correlation for the ground state. The percent attainment of electron correlation for the first excited state is slightly better than that for the ground state, preventing us from obtaining better agreements with experimental data by means of increasing the size of basis sets. The Kaufmann basis functions are then used with the ECP/CPP method to obtain the accurate convergent potential energy curves for the $^1\prod_u$ states correlated to Li(2p) + Li(2p) and Li(2s) + Li(n = 2, 3, 4). Quantum defect curves (QDCs) calculated for both the $X^2\sum_g$ and 1 $^2\prod_u$ states of the $Li{_2}^+$ ion and the Lu-Fano plot reveal a strong series-series interaction between the two $2snp{\pi}$ and $2pnp{\pi}$ Rydberg series. The QDCs are then used to resolve assignment problems in the literature. The reassignments, performed by Jedrzejewski-Szemek et al., of the dissociation product of the D $^1\prod$ state from (2s+3d) to (2s+3p) and that of the 6 $^1\prod_u$ from (2s+4d) to (2s+4p) are found to be incorrect. It may be more natural to assign their $2snp{\pi}$ Rydberg series as a $2snd{\pi}$ series. The state, assigned as 5p $^1\prod_u$ by Ross et al. and 4d $^1\prod$ by Jedrzejewski-Szemek et al., is assigned as the 7 $^1\prod_u$ state, correlated to the Li(2s) + Li(4f) limit.

  • Smart grid system has been deployed fast despite of legal, business and technology problems in many countries. One important problem in deploying the smart grid system is to protect private smart meter readings from the unbelievable parties while the major smart meter functions are untouched. Privacy-preserving involves some challenges such as hardware limitations, secure cryptographic schemes and secure signal processing. In this paper, we focused particularly on the smart meter reading aggregation,which is the major research field in the smart meter privacy-preserving. We suggest a noisy weighted aggregation scheme to guarantee differential privacy. The noisy weighted values are generated in such a way that their product is one and are used for making the veiled measurements. In case that a Diffie-Hellman generator is applied to obtain the noisy weighted values, the noisy values are transformed in such a way that their sum is zero. The advantage of Diffie and Hellman group is usually to use 512 bits. Thus, compared to Paillier cryptosystem series which relies on very large key sizes, a significant performance can be obtained.

  • In recent years, Korean engineering companies are actively entering into the international business. Although international engineering project is known to have lower risk rather that EPC construction project, Korean engineering companies' international sales profit is not as good. Therefore, this study analyzes the risks that are predicted before bid and actually occurred after award. In addition, this study shows the difference of risk depending on lump sum contract and cost reimburse contract. Finally, this study analyzes the difference of risk according to civil engineering and building engineering. This study provides industry to analyze risk more practically and helps academics to focus on risk to be studied more in the future.

Development of a High-performance DSP Coprocessor Architecture (고성능 32-bit DSP 코프로세서의 아키텍쳐 개발)

  • A new high-performance DSP architecture is proposed, which behaves as a coprocessor of a 32bit microcontroller. Because the proposed DSP architecture is a dual MAC(Multiply and Accumulate) DSP architecture, it can process efficiently a number of SOP(sum of product) operations used in many DSP applications. In order to efficiently perform other operations such as pure additions without any restriction, a MAC is composed of a multiplier and a ALU placed in parallel. In addition, it is a 3-way superscalar architecture, which can issue 3 instructions at a time. The benchmark results with 3 thor dual MAC DSPs show that the proposed DSP has the best performance. Futhermore, it is proven that the proposed DSP is more efficient in memory usage, although the performance is comparable in some algorithms such as Viterbi decoding and FFT butterfly.

Prediction of Breastfeeding Intentions and Behaviors : An Application of the Theory of Planned Behavior (계획된 행위 이론을 적용한 모유수유의지 및 행위의 예측요인 분석)

  • The majority of studies on breastfeeding consists of descriptive correlational studies identifying the incidence and correlates of breastfeeding. The theory of planned behavior has been shown to yield great predictive power for behavioral goals over which individuals have only limited control such as improving school grades and weight loss. The purpose of this study was to test the "theory of planned behavior" in the prediction of breastfeeding of mothers who delivered vaginally, One hundred mothers who delivered vaginally in one general hospital in Seoul and one general hospital and three private hospitals in Taejeon participated in this study. The instruments used for data collection in this study were developed by the researchers following the guidelines suggested by Ajzen & Fishbein(1980) and Ajzen & Madden(1986). The instruments included measurement of attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control and intention. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson product moment correlation, hierachical multiple regression and logistic regression. The results are as follows ; 1. Intention to breastfeed correlated significantly with attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. Both attitude and subjective norm did not make a significant contribution to the prediction of intention, but the addition of perceived behavioral control to the regression equation greatly improved the model's predictive power, increasing the R²from .05 to .52. 2. Intention to breastfeed alone had a significant predictive effect on actual breastfeeding, resulting in a regression coefficient of .16(X²=8 60, p<.01), but when perceived behavioral control was added to the equation, intention was not a significant predictive variable and only perceived behavioral control showed significant predictive power on actual breastfeeding, resulting in a regression coefficient of .12(X²=4.69, p<.05). In sum, breastfeeding behavior lent only partial support to the second version of the theory of planned behavior, and because perceived behavioral control had a strong effect on intention to breastfeed and actual breastfeeding, It would be desirable to develop nursing intervention programs which focus on strengthening the perceived behavioral control for the promotion of breastfeeding.
