  • Ageism, attitudes toward aging, and body satisfaction play significant roles in determining older women's perceptions of successful aging. In addition, subjective socioeconomic and health status can act as major identifiers in determining the overall level of physical and social well-being in old age. Research for this exploratory study includes: 1) exploring the overall levels of ageism perception, attitudes toward aging, and body satisfaction among older women and 2) identifying the differences in ageism, attitudes toward aging, and body satisfaction between high and low subjective socioeconomic and health status of older women. Data for this study were collected through an online questionnaire of 221 older women. The results revealed that older women's perceptions of ageism, aging attitudes, and body satisfaction were significantly different based on subjective socioeconomic and health status. In general, older women with higher levels of subjective socioeconomic and health status reported more positive perceptions and attitudes toward aging along with higher levels of body satisfaction. The results implied that subjective health status was a more powerful indicator differentiating the aging-related perceptions of older women than the subjective socioeconomic status. This study supports the need for a conscious effort to reduce ageism that ultimately improves the overall well-being of all members in society.

  • Objective: The objective of this study is to present a scientific basis for ballet dancer training methods by analyzing the relationships between subjective assessment of the ballet movement 'Grand pas de chat' and kinematic and electromyographic factors. Method: The subjects were 14 professional dancers with 15 years of experience on average. Four cameras and a wireless electromyogram were used to examine kinematic factors, and the filmed videos were analyzed by 3 experts for subjective assessment. Results: Although no differences in kinematic factors were found between the excellent dancer group and the non-excellent dancer group divided based on the experts' assessment, some difference was found in electromyographic factors, especially in relation to the gastrocnemius muscle, rectus femoris muscle, and erector spinae muscle. A relationship between subjective assessment and kinematic and electromyographic factors was found, and factors such as right-side rectus femoris activation, time required, left-side gastrocnemius activation, and front-back displacement affected subjective assessment. Conclusion: This study showed a relationship between subjective assessment and kinematic and electromyographic factors. To receive higher scores in subjective assessment, it is necessary to extend the hang time by using the lower limb muscles. The findings of this study also indicate the necessity of weight training in order to improve dancing techniques.

The data was collected using a total of 349 questionnaires for the final analysis of this study. SPSS 12.0 for windows was used for the data analysis and the detailed analyses included descriptive analysis, factor analysis, reliability tests, one way ANOVA, multiple regression analysis and t-tests. The results of this study showed that there are differences in the subdivisions of subjective knowledge of apparel according to the consumer's life cycle and there is a difference in the types of information searches according to the consumer's subjective knowledge, and the subdivisions of subjective knowledge of the consumers influence their information search. This study showed that although it affected the internal search, the media search, and the store search, it did not influence the personal search in the decision making process.

  • Using the first wave of KLoSA(Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing) beta version, this study analyzed factors affecting early retired men's subjective life satisfaction through Binary Logit and Multiple Regression. Total 552 men were selected as a sample. The main results of empirical analysis in this study were as follows: The retirement reason(health-) and monthly household income(+) affected whether they were satisfied with the retirement life or not and subjective life satisfaction over all. Especially, the retirement reason(health-) had a stronger effect on whether early retired min were satisfied with the retirement life or not and their subjective life satisfaction than monthly household income revealed significant variable in previous studies. This result represents that the retiree's life satisfaction analysis model must include retiree's characteristics at the time of retirement as well as retiree's current status characteristics or socio-economic characteristics.
