Application of the optimal fuzzy-based system on bearing capacity of concrete pile

  • The measurement of pile bearing capacity is crucial for the design of pile foundations, where in-situ tests could be costly and time needed. The primary objective of this research was to investigate the potential use of fuzzy-based techniques to anticipate the maximum weight that concrete driven piles might bear. Despite the existence of several suggested designs, there is a scarcity of specialized studies on the exploration of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS) for the estimation of pile bearing capacity. This paper presents the introduction and validation of a novel technique that integrates the fire hawk optimizer (FHO) and equilibrium optimizer (EO) with the ANFIS, referred to as ANFISFHO and ANFISEO, respectively. A comprehensive compilation of 472 static load test results for driven piles was located within the database. The recommended framework was built, validated, and tested using the training set (70%), validation set (15%), and testing set (15%) of the dataset, accordingly. Moreover, the sensitivity analysis is performed in order to determine the impact of each input on the output. The results show that ANFISFHO and ANFISEO both have amazing potential for precisely calculating pile bearing capacity. The R2 values obtained for ANFISFHO were 0.9817, 0.9753, and 0.9823 for the training, validating, and testing phases. The findings of the examination of uncertainty showed that the ANFISFHO system had less uncertainty than the ANFISEO model. The research found that the ANFISFHO model provides a more satisfactory estimation of the bearing capacity of concrete driven piles when considering various performance evaluations and comparing it with existing literature.

  • Hi Air Korea and Hanwha ocean are currently developing an Onboard Carbon dioxide Capture System (OCCS) to absorb CO2 emitted from ship's engine using a sodium hydroxide(NaOH) solution, and converting the resulting salt into a solid form through a chemical reaction with calcium oxide (CaO). The system process involves the following steps; 1)The reaction of CO2 gas absorption in water, 2)The reaction between carbonic acid (H2CO3) and NaOH solution to produce carbonate or bicarbonate, and 3)The reaction between carbonate or bicarbonate and CaO to form calcium carbonate (CaCO3). And ultimately, the solid material, CaCO3, is separated and discharged using a separator. The OCCS has been installed on an ship and the test results have confirmed significant reduction effects of CO2 in the ship's exhaust gas. A portion of the exhaust gas emitted from the engine was transferred to the OCCS using a blower. The flow rate of the transferred gas ranged from 800 to 1384 m3/hr, and the CO2 concentration in the exhaust gas was 5.1 vol% for VLSFO, 3.7 vol% for LNG and a 12 wt% NaOH solution was used. The results showed a CO2 capture efficiency of approximately 42.5 to 64.1 vol% and the CO2 capture rate approximately 48.4 to 52.2kg/hr. Additionally, to assess the impact of the discharged CaCO3on the marine ecosystem, we conducted "marine ecotoxicity test" and performed Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to evaluate the dispersion and dilution of the discharged effluent.

  • In this paper, lead-free [$Li_{0.04}(Na_{y}K_{1-y})_{0.96}](Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.1}Sb_{0.04})O_{3}$ (y=0.4 - 0.58) ceramics were manufactured using conventional miked oxide method for acoustic emission(AE) sensor application and their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated with the variations of Na/K ratio. The samples in the composition Na/K=54/46 exhibited excellent electrical properties of $d_{33}=300$ PC/N and kp=0.49. Taking into consideration above piezoelectric properties, it can be concluded that the [$Li_{0.04}(Na_{y}K_{1-y})_{0.96}](Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.1}Sb_{0.04})O_{3}$ system ceramics are the promising lead-free materials capable of substituting PZT system ceramics.

Na2B4O7·10H2O/Na2B4O7·5H2O 계의 열분해 탈수반응 및 내구성 고찰 (The Characteristics of the Dehydration Reaction and the Durability for the Thermal Decomposition in Na2B4O7·10H2O/Na2B4O7·5H2O System)

  • 본 연구에서는 $Na_2B_4O_7{\cdot}10H_2O/Na_2B_4O_7{\cdot}5H_2O$ 반응계의 열분해 탈수반응에 의한 반응속도상수를 결정하고 반응계의 재현성 및 화학축열재의 반복사용에 따른 내구성을 검토하였다. 반응계의 열분해 탈수반응의 차수는 1차이었고, 열분해 탈수 반응속도는 수증기의 분압차에 정비례하였다. 반응계의 반응속도상수는 약 0.27이었고, 반응속도상수와 반응차수에 대한 반응의 재현성이 우수하였다. 또한 화학축열재의 내구성은 연속적으로 반복 사용하여도 활성변화는 ${\pm}5%$ 범위 내에 있었다.

Effect of Sn Doping on the Thermoelectric Properties of P-Type Mg3Sb2 Synthesized by Controlled Melting, Pulverizing Followed by Vacuum Hot Pressing

  • Zintl phase Mg3Sb2 is a promising thermoelectric material in medium to high temperature range due to its low band gap energy and characteristic electron-crystal phonon-glass behavior. P-type Mg3Sb2 has conventionally exhibited lower thermoelectric properties compared to its n-type counterparts, which have poor electrical conductivity. To address these problems, a small amount of Sn doping was considered in this alloy system. P-type Mg3Sb2 was synthesized by controlled melting, pulverizing, and subsequent vacuum hot pressing (VHP) method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to investigate phases and microstructure development during the process. Single phase Mg3Sb2 was successfully formed when 16 at.% of Mg was excessively added to the system. Nominal compositions of Mg3.8Sb2-xSnx (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.008) were considered in this study. Thermoelectric properties were evaluated in terms of Seebeck coefficient, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity. A peak ZT value ≈ 0.32 was found for the specimen Mg3.8Sb1.994Sn0.006 at 873 K, showing an improved ZT value compared to intrinsic one. Transport properties were also evaluated and discussed.

Effects of Ga doping on the superconducting properties of (B1-xGax) (Ba1.25Sr0.75)(Ca0.5Er0.5)Cu2Oz

  • We have investigated the behavior induced by Ga substitution in B-1212 system and observed an anomalous superconductor-like resistivity drop with an onset near 260 K and an offset at 248 K in the nominal (B0.65Ga0.35)(Ba1.25Sr0.75)(Er0.5Ca0.5)Cu2Oz compound. However, this property degraded with repeated cycling. Systematic studies of the superconducting properties of the (B1-xGax)(Ba1.25Sr0.75)(Er0.5Ca0.5)Cu2Oz compounds are reported and discussed in the context of the anomalous resistivity transition.

  • In Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS), which is an active field of Intelligent Transport System (ITS), information of traffic congestion is sent to each vehicle at real time. However, a centralized navigation system is not realistic to guide millions of vehicles in a megalopolis. Autonomous distributed systems should be more flexible and scalable, and also have a chance to focus on each vehicle´s demand. This paper proposes a sub-optimal route planning mechanism of vehicles in urban areas using the non-network type immune system. Simulation is carried out using a cellular automaton model. This system announces a sub-optimal route to drivers in real time using VICS.

유한요소해석을 이용한 압축 하중을 받는 오픈 홀 복합재 시편의 점진적 손상 및 파손 분석 (Progressive Damage and Failure Analysis of Open-Hole Composite Specimens Under Compressive Loading Using Finite Element Analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 압축 하중을 받는 오픈 홀(open-hole compression) 탄소섬유 복합재(carbon fiber reinforced plastic, CFRP) 시편의 평면 내 손상(in-plane damage) 및 층간 분리(delamination)를 예측하기 위한 모델링 방법을 제안하고 유한요소해석(finite element analysis)을 수행하였다. 유한요소모델은 오픈 홀 복합재 시편의 점진적 손상 및 파손 분석(progressive damage and failure analysis)을 위해 Hashin 파손 기준(hashin failure criteria)과 표면 기반 응집 거동(cohesive behavior) 모델을 기반으로 구성되었으며 ABAQUS/EXPLICIT Solver를 활용하여 해석을 수행하였다. 유한요소해석의 타당성을 종합적으로 평가하기 위해 세 가지 유형의 적층 패턴(stacking sequences)을 가지는 오픈 홀 압축 복합재 시편에 대한 시험 결과와 비교하였다. 오픈 홀 압축 시편의 강도와 강성은 백분율 오차(percentage error) 10.0 % 미만으로 비교적 잘 예측하였으며 오픈 홀 복합재 적층판의 인장/압축 매트릭스 손상 상태 및 원공(hole) 근처의 복합재 계면 층간 분리에 대한 손상 상태를 추출하여 평가하고 분석하였다.

Identification of a Prophage-encoded Abortive Infection System in Levilactobacillus brevis

  • Abortive infection systems (Abi) are phage resistance systems that can be prophage-encoded. Here, two genes encoding an Abi system were identified on a prophage sequence contained by the chromosome of the Levilactobacillus brevis strain UCCLBBS124. This Abi system is similar to the two-component AbiL system encoded by Lactococcus lactis biovar. diacetylactis LD10-1. The UCCLBBS124 prophage-derived Abi system (designated here as AbiL124) was shown to exhibit specific activity against phages infecting L. brevis and L. lactis strains. Expression of the AbiL124 system was shown to cause reduction in the efficiency of plaquing and cell lysis delay for phages of both species.

  • In this paper, a configuration procedure of a transportation infrastructure system for GNSS based very precise real-time positioning is proposed. This infrastructure system consists of several receiving station, a central station, and communication sub-systems. The required performance, design, implementation and verification of each sub-system are explained respectively. The required performance can be broken down into accuracy, integrity, stability, processing time. The design of the each sub-system is performed in accordance with the required performance and each sub-system is built with regard to the design. Lastly the implemented system is verified in comparison with the required performance.
