  • Turmeric is aromatic, perennial herb, up to 1m high and distributed in East Asia. Parts used of it Rhizomes and is known to be used a medicinal stuff yellow dye stuff from past to nowadays in the Oriental region. The objectives of this study were to investigate and to compare to the dyeability of Turmeric according to pH, temperature, mordants, and the antimicrobial properties of wool dyed with turmeric. The results of this study are as follows: The wavelengths of the strongest absorption of Turmeric extract were 420 nm respectively. The extracted dye from Turmeric has affinity to wool. The dyeing rates are decreased according to diluting times and the dyeing rates are increased according to high temperature. The color of pH 3-7 is yellow green, over pH 9 is turned to orange yellow. The color of the non-mordant sample is yellow but it changed to bright yellow by Al, to orange yellow by Cu mordant, and to brown yellow by Fe mordant. The launder fastness and is not good, 2-4 grade and the light fastness is bad, 2-3 grade, but the dry-cleaning fastness is generally good, 4-5 grade. The fabrics dyed with Turmeric extract showed high antibacterial property on Staphylococcus aureus.

  • Yellow dye-stuffs in natural plant were extracted from a gardenia, saffron, safflower, amur tree and pagoda. And then they were used to color Korean handmade paper(Hanji) on using a mordant. The results of the degree of discoloration are as follows. 1. As for a gardenia(Gardenia jasminodes Ellis for. grandiflora Makino), the effects of coloring were outstanding in the acid area. But for the preservation, it might be desirable that used a lye in a dye-stuff obtained at $40{\pm}5^{\circ}C$. 2. As for saffron(Curcuma longa L.), when used alum as a mordant, it was colored to a medium yellow color with green color. But easily discolorated and was not desirable. And, it didn't fit in a dye-stuff of Hanji. 3. For safflower(Carthamus tinctorius L.), when pH was in the low acid it was colored to the cleaner yellow color. It was the distinction of discoloration that the degree of brightness's increase was low. 4. For amur cork-tree(Phellodendron amurense Rupr.), the effects of yellow coloring were great in the areas of acidity and alkali. But, when used alum, the degree of the discoloration was high and was not effective. 5. For pagoda tree(Styphnolobium Japonica L.), using a calcium hydroxide as a mordant, enabled the more than average yellow to be gained. The degree of discoloration was good.

  • Tower crane is a large construction equipment which is extremely tall for its section when it is erected, with its high slenderness ratio, and it has a heavy load by itself due to large lifting stuff to handle. In line with the construction projects in these days which increasingly tend to become higher, larger and complex, the stuff and height subject to lifting are also getting larger and higher, which has also increased the risk of disastrous accidents. A stable foundation design thus to deal with the increasing self load becomes more important. When a typhoon Maemi swept the nation in 2003, as many as 43 tower cranes fell down or collapsed, causing a severe damage to the people and the properties. Considering such fatal damages, a technical evaluation of the stability to prevent the safety accident with the tower crane must be very crucial. Tower cranes operation in domestic construction sites, in fact, have been simply dependent on personal experience and intuition of the engineers. Particularly when it comes to the foundation design, it mostly depends on manufacturer's recommendation. The study hence was intended to develop the fundamental measures for granting the objective stability, instead of following the individual's experience only. The simulation model recommended in the study is expected to make a good commitment to achieving an effective lifting work as well as preventing the safety accident.

  • In this study, Artemisia capillaris, which has been used as oriental medicine area and folks remedy, was investigated for effective substance (scopoletin) analysis. As an attempt to develop new functional beverage by using medicinal herb, Artemisia capillaris. Therefore we investigate the effect of scopoletin in Artemisia capillaris on vessel and regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) of rats. Artemisia capillaris extract was significantly decreased vessel constraction and significantly increased rCBF. Artemisia capillaris has often been cited in medical literature for its medicinal effects. Although the Korean Food and Drug Administration indicated Artemisia capillaris as the In-Jin-Sook which was allowed as a food stuff. From the view point of the subjects who eat In-Jin-Sook products, most of them ingested it for a certain pharmacological efficacy rather than as a beverage or a food. According to this facts, we need develop functional foods using In-Jin-Sook. Also scopoletin, get known to smooth muscle relaxation content was 326.13 ug/g. These results demonstrate that Artemisia capillaris has pharmaceutical effects and balanced nutritional contents. In according with Artemisia capillaris has a sufficiency of the terms use of food stuff in functional foods.

  • For distinguish between Lophatherum gracile and Phyllostachys nigra var. henonis based on natural shape and external-internal morphology of medicinal shape, general contents of oriental medicine were rearranged through bibliography. As a result, two medicinal stuffs indicated the difference in shape and structure(external-internal and powder)of origin plant bibiliographically. After this, this contents were utilized to give proof of many effective difference between two medicinal stuff.

  • In this paper, a new method for colour measuring is presented using fuzzy modeling technique. The fuzzy and polynomial inferences are used for obtaining RGB characteristic curve. The eight RGB real data from expert dye-stuff manufacturer, are simulated. The results show that the proposed method will is more excellent than other methods, in the colour measuring process of textile field.

  • This study is to determine the penetration of various medicaments such as Howe's ammoniacal silver nitrate and methyleneblue, to root canal dentin within given time (5,10,30 sec.) Followings are the results obtained from this study. 1) The dye stuff is more deeply penetrated according to the time elapsed. 2) According to the increase of age, the penetration ratio is decreased accordingly. 3) The penetration ratio of Howe's ammoniacal silver nitrate is higher than that of methyleneblue. 4) The permeability of the root canal dentin is gradually reduced as access to the apex.

  • Railway stations consist of site, structure, skin, services, space and stuff. The depth of modernization will depend on which of these layers is defective, and on the degree to which the layers are embedded. Stations function as circulation spaces, operational premises, commercial premises and beacons. The type of modernization will depend both on the functions, and on the social (and financial) benefits to be gained by improving the performance of each function. Modernization will bring stations up-to-date, and enabling them to deliver optimal performance.

  • Quantitative analysis of harmful Hg in edible bean sprouts was carried out by the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (Perkin-Elmer Model 403). The samples studied as shown in Table 2. are edible bean sprouts (36) which wet·e collected from Gwangju area. It was investigated that the Mercury (Hg) content of edible bean sprouts was from 0.0098 ppm to 0.533 ppm (average 0.240). Mercury contaminated edible bean sprouts studied, was about 50 percentage of total samples.
