  • Having been speed development of science and technology, every year a huge amount of research results have been produced and national research and development reports have been come to round about 20,000 cases per year. National R&D projects can be a ripple effect on industry, economy and scientific research. Not only papers, patents, fact information, the information on biological diversity but national R&D reports database are constructed, collected and provided by KISTI. This paper will put emphasis on the construction and the collection of national R&D reports and intend to discuss the objective improvement about systematical and institutional problem.

Reports on game policy focused on regulations, particularly game addiction or disorder. Reports on game uses and effects showed very low rates, but they have followed the existing practices of reporting games as the cause of extreme crimes and deviant behaviors.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between suicidal attitude and suicidal ideation of college students and also to provide the fundamental data in order to strengthen both the standard and the recommendation of media coverage in Korea. A total of 249 college students over the age of 18 years in B city and G do were enrolled for this study. The data were collected between June 9 and July 7 of 2014 and analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with SPSS 21.0. The mean score of a message of suicidal motivation reports 2 was $51.06{\pm}10.55$, which was the highest. The score of suicidal ideation was $10.41{\pm}12.88$. There were sign&ificant differences in suicidal thought with respect to school system, family income, pocket money, time of physical activity, smoking, and smart-phone usage in university students. It was shown that suicidal thoughts were significantly correlated with message of simple suicidal reports 1(r=.303, p<.001), message of suicidal motivation reports 2(r=.251, p<.001), and message of suicidal mourning man reports 3(r=.225, p<.001). As the suicidal attitude have a close association with reports of suicide, it is necessary that studies on a variety of factors influencing suicidal thoughts of students be repeated.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of using deep learning language models to extract references automatically and create a reference database for research reports in an efficient manner. Unlike academic journals, research reports present difficulties in automatically extracting references due to variations in formatting across institutions. In this study, we addressed this issue by introducing the task of separating references from non-reference phrases, in addition to the commonly used metadata extraction task for reference extraction. The study employed datasets that included various types of references, such as those from research reports of a particular institution, academic journals, and a combination of academic journal references and non-reference texts. Two deep learning language models, namely RoBERTa+CRF and ChatGPT, were compared to evaluate their performance in automatic extraction. They were used to extract metadata, categorize data types, and separate original text. The research findings showed that the deep learning language models were highly effective, achieving maximum F1-scores of 95.41% for metadata extraction and 98.91% for categorization of data types and separation of the original text. These results provide valuable insights into the use of deep learning language models and different types of datasets for constructing reference databases for research reports including both reference and non-reference texts.

  • This paper explains the concept of Economic Value Added (EVA) that is gaining popularity in India. We also examine whether EVA is a superior performance measure, both for corporate disclosure and for internal governance. Of late, companies in India have started focusing on shareholders wealth creation by adopting value-based models for measuring shareholder value that helps to align managerial decision-making with the firm preferences. In recent years, the EVA framework is gradually replacing the 'traditional' measures of financial performance on account of its robustness and its immunity from 'creative' accounting. Even though some leading Indian companies have already joined the band wagon of their American counterparts in adapting the EVA-based corporate performance systems, many other are hesitating as there is no strong evidence that the EVA system works in India. Till now, EVA disclosures are "not mandatory for the Indian companies." Also, we examine the value-creation strategies of selected Indian companies by analyzing whether EVA better represents the market-value of these companies in comparison to conventional performance measures. The study indicates that "there is no strong evidence to support Stern Stewart's claim that EVA is superior to the traditional performance measures in its association with MVA." As part of this study, we have also extensively surveyed the EVA disclosures in the Annual Reports made by the same sample group of 500 corporations from India.

  • The study investigates the association between the effectiveness of the board of directors and the likelihood that a company receives a modified audit opinion (as a measure of the quality of companies' external financial reporting) in Malaysia. The sample companies were extracted from the population of publicly-available information mainly the annual reports of publicly-listed companies on the Bursa Malaysia. 136 firm-year observations listed on Bursa Malaysia were identified to examine the relationship between the effectiveness of the board of directors and a modified audit opinion. Data used in this study are collected from two separate sources - annual reports and Datastream. Any missing financial figure from Datastream was acquired from the annual reports. To test the study's hypotheses, we use the pooled cross-sectional logistic regression analysis for 136 firm-year observations listed on Bursa Malaysia over the period 2009-2011. The evidence we have uncovered is consistent with the hypothesis that companies with large score of the board of directors' effectiveness are less possible to receive a modified audit opinion. Therefore, the result confirms that the combined effect of the board of directors' characteristics has a significant negative association with the likelihood of the companies receiving a modified audit opinion.

  • This study seeks to investigate Key Audit Matters (KAMs) reporting of Thai listed companies in Thailand, and examines the influence of KAMs reporting on corporate financial performance. Data were collected from 180 companies listed in Thailand during 2016 to 2018, which accounted to 540 annual reports. KAMs reporting was quantified by content analysis from the audit reports, while financial performance and corporate characteristics were collected from the corporate annual reports. Descriptive analysis and multiple regressions were performed to analyze the data. The study results reveal that there was an increasing of KAMs reporting in audit report of listed companies in Thailand in terms of both number of issues and number of words across the observed period. The regression analysis indicates that was a significant and negative influence of words counted as KAMs reporting on financial performance, while there was no influence of KAMs reporting issue on the performance. Moreover, there was a negative relationship between corporate complexity and financial performance, while audit type had a positive correlation with financial performance. This study shows significant contribution on the implication of KAMs in an emerging economy and the role of KAMs as a communication device between auditor and stakeholders.
