  • The purpose of the research was to investigate the patterns of student's mathematical thinking and behavior and describe the nature of difficulties the student underwent in trigonometry as the student conducted independent explorations within the interactive technology environment. Also, the research identified the connections among multiple representations and merits and shortcomings in using a graphic calculator as a tool. A take-based clinical interview procedure as the method for qualitative research was used to find the cognitive actions of the participant and his interactions with the graphic calculator. A case study report was written for the student. The researcher found that the student moved from operative stage, to constructive stage, to applicable stage of thinking. From Colgan; Graphing has significance both to mathematics and mathematics education in at least three ways since: * graphing represents an important technique, instrument and process in mathematics; * through ‘graphing’, per se, students can be said to be using one symbolic system to extend and acquire an understanding of another(e. g., trigonometric functions and their graphs). * graphing is propaedeutic to other, more advanced topics and concepts in mathematics.

  • A design of Advisory Tutoring Agent(ATA) is proposed to help a student on the basis of a student-oriented discovery learning, The agents adaptively build a student model and interact with a student as well as each other to give a piece of advice at a proper time. The appropriateness of advice depends on the agents' reasoning sod interaction performed based on the student model. domain knowledge, teaching strategy, and user-friendly interface. The design has been applied to a simple English learning environment.

  • This paper started from a question: Can it help a student solve the problem to give supports in point of view of a teacher knowing the solution. We performed a case study to get an answer for the question. We analysed a case which students do not make full use of data in the mathematical problem from this point of view of the mental representation. We examined closely the cause for not making full use of data. We got that the wrong mental representation which the students get from data in the problem lead to not making full use of data. We knew that it is insufficient to present the data not making use of. To help a student truly, it is necessary to give a aid based on a student's mental representation. From the conclusion of study, We got that figuring out student's mental representation is important and hope that many investigation about student's mental representation for various problem occur with frequency.

  • Purpose. This correlation study was undertaken to examine the relationships between daily life stress, self-efficacy and university student life adjustment and to analyze the self-efficacy affecting that university student life adjustment. Methods. 265 university students were recruited from several participating required undergraduate classes. They were surveyed as the subject of this study. Data collection was conducted through the use of questionnaires. Results. The university life adjustment level showed a maximum score of 9 with the mean score 5.22. A negative correlation was found between daily life stress and university life adjustment. Also, there was positively correlation between self-efficacy and university life adjustment. Self-efficacy and daily life stress accounted for $23\%$ of the variance in university student life adjustment. Conclusion. According to the results, self-efficacy is a useful concept in helping overall university life adjustment. Therefore, university student consultation office or nurse should consider the program based on self-efficacy in order to help university students to better adapt to university life.

  • This study compared student teachers' perceptions about teaching practices and the current state of practice teaching before and after practice teaching. Subjects were 96 students at three-year colleges in Suncheon, Jollanam-do. The survey used a questionnaire, 'kindergarten teachers' recognition of practice teaching and the current state of practice teaching,'(Woo and Choi 2004), revised for this research. Differences were observed in mean scores between before and after practice teaching(t=4.30, p<.001). In sub-areas, significant differences were observed in the role of student teachers, the contents of teaching, support system, evaluation and preliminary guidance(p<.001), but not in the evaluation of practice teaching and student teachers' attitudes(p>.05). This information should be beneficial for teachers' colleges in preparation of practice teaching programs.

  • With a remarkable and rapid change of universities in Korea, the role of universities has been changed from a traditional education supplier to a demander. Both the remarkable decrease of the number of entering students and the advent of an open education market are enforcing the universities to be changed. Universities should provide a variety of educational services in accordance with the students' needs. This study is based on the systematical Kuh's model which the educational service quality provide a decision making of alternative plan. This research is purposed to empirically study the effects of educational service quality(circumstance index, input index, participate index, output index) provided by universities on student satisfaction and educational performance(Perceived usefulness, Education Achievement). The results of this research follows; first, circumstance index, input index and output index significantly effect student satisfaction, but participate index does not effect satisfaction. Second, student satisfaction significantly effects on the educational performance.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between personality type and GPA scores of the student majoring flight operation. The data were collected from 96 "H' University student. MBTI Test was selected and used to analyze student's personality type. The results from MBTI Test and GPA scores were analyze by SPSS 10.0 package. I found that E, S, T, J Type, SJ, ST Type, ESTJ, ISTJ Type student are dominated. There were no significant relationship between personality type and GPA scores. The effective teaching strategies have to be considered for each personality type for better education.

  • Student engagement in high-level, cognitively demanding instruction is pivotal for student learning. However, many teachers are unable to maintain such instruction, especially in instances of non-responsive students. This case study of three middle school teachers explores prompts that aim to move classroom discussions past student silence. Prompt sequences were categorized into Progressing, Focusing, and Redirecting Actions, and then analyzed for maintenance of high levels of cognitive demand. Results indicate that specific prompt types are prone to either raise or diminish the cognitive demand of a discussion. While Focusing Actions afforded students opportunities to process information on a more meaningful level, Progressing Actions typically lowered cognitive demand in an effort to get through mathematics content or a specific method or procedure. Prompts that raise cognitive demand typically start out as procedural or concrete and progress to include students' thoughts or ideas about mathematical concepts. This study aims to discuss five specific implications on how teachers can use prompting techniques to effectively maintain cognitively challenging discourse through moments of student silence.

  • A common approach to the problem of predicting student test scores is based on the student's previous educational history. In this study, high school transcripts of about two thousand candidates, who took the High-school Student Assessment (HSA) were collected. The data were estimated through building a regression model - Random Forest and optimizing the model's parameters based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) to predict the HSA scores. The RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) measure of the predictive models was used to evaluate the model's performance.
