Fault Diagnosis of Linear Discrete-Time Systems Based on an Unknown Input Observer (미지입력 관측기를 이용한 신형 이산 시스템의 고장 진단)

  • In this paper, an observer for linear discrete systems with unknown inputs is presented. The suggested observer can estimate the system state vector and the unknown inputs simultaneously. As an extension of the observer, a new fault diagnosis observer for linear discrete systems with structured uncertainty is presented. The fault diagnosis observer can detect and identify the actuator and the sensor faults as well. The stability conditionsand the design methods of the each observers are presented and the usability of the observers is shown via numerical examples.

  • In manufacture of printed circuit boards, one important issue is precisely to measure the three-dimensional shape of the solder paste silk-screened prior to direct surface mounting of chips. This paper presents the 3D shape reconstruction of solder paste using the optical triangulation method based on structured light or slit beam and the measurement algorithm for height, volume. area, and coplanarity on component pads from the 3D range image. Futhermore, statistical process control function is incorporated for process capability analysis.

Self-Organized Authentication in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

  • This work proposes a new distributed and self-organized authentication scheme for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). Apart from describing all its components, special emphasis is placed on proving that the proposal fulfils most requirements derived from the special characteristics of MANETs, including limited physical protection of broadcast medium, frequent route changes caused by mobility, and lack of structured hierarchy. Interesting conclusions are obtained from an analysis of simulation experiments in different scenarios.

  • We designed and tested a new scan driver output stage. Compared to conventional CMOS structured scan driver IC′s, the new NMOSFET-only scan driver circuit can reduce the chip area and therefore, the chip cost considerably. We confirmed the circuit operation with open drain power NMOSFET IC′s by driving 2"PDP test panel. We defined critical device parameters and their optimization methods lot the best circuit performance.

  • The use of data analysis on large volumes of data constitutes a challenge for deducting knowledge and new information. Data can be heterogeneous and complex: Semi-structured data (Example: XML), Data from social networks (Example: Tweets) and Factual data (Example: Spreading of Covid-19). In this paper, we propose a generic multidimensional model in order to analyze complex data, according to several dimensions.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the information needs and information seeking behavior of foreign students. A survey method was used for the undertaken study. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire, self-administered to 120 foreign students (60 males & 60 females) with 88 (47 males & 41 females) returns. The research is limited to post-graduate, M.Phil. and Ph.D. foreign students in University of Delhi. It was found that post-graduate students need information regarding their program of study while research scholars need information for writing research articles and for doing their research work. Most of them seek information through the internet. Research scholars used electronic resources such as databases, e-journals and e-theses and dissertations. 88.6% of the respondents also use books for seeking information. Their use of the library is limited with complaints about library staff and too few computer terminals. The present study will be helpful in designing new systems and services for the foreign students so that their information needs can be fulfilled easily. Further, findings of the study indicate that how the library professionals should assist foreign students to accomplish their information needs.

Perception on the Use of Mobile Phones in Retrieving Information from Academic Libraries: A developing country perspective

  • The purpose of the study is to identify the perception of the Library and Information Science (LIS) specialists about the use of mobile phones in retrieving information. It investigates the present status of the LIS specialists regarding mobile phone usage, perceptions regarding the use of mobile phones in retrieving information from libraries and points out the possible drawbacks and their solutions for embracing mobile phones in retrieving information from libraries and providing some suggestions. The methodology includes a quantitative approach. The authors used a survey method using a structured questionnaire to measure the perception of LIS specialists regarding the use of mobile phones in retrieving information from libraries. The findings confirmed that the majority (72%) of LIS specialists have the experience of using mobile phones for more than 10 years. Findings also indicate that the LIS specialists have agreed with the statements of advantages of using mobile phones. This paper concludes that the respondents also agreed regarding the possible advantages of introducing mobile phones in retrieving information from libraries. The paper explores the original perceptions of LIS specialists regarding the use of mobile phones in retrieving information from libraries.

  • This study compared the everyday-life information behaviors of urban and rural adolescents to suggest ways that school library information services can better meet the information needs of each of these groups. It focused its comparison not only on the everyday-life information-seeking behaviors but also on kinds of information grounds and barriers forming information grounds. Two qualitative methods, written activity logs and semi-structured in-depth interviews, were used to examine everyday-life information behaviors of adolescents. It is expected that the proposed strategies will be used in planning actual school library information services for urban or rural youths.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a basic data by evaluation the problems about nursing information system and identifying the need of improvement of it. Data were collected from April 6 to 15, 2000 through questionnaires taken by 218 nurses working in a general hospital using nursing information systems. The two structured questionnaires were used for the collecting the data. The data obtained were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Cronbach's alpha coeffcients. The results are as follows: 1. In the problem of nursing information system, ${\lceil}$There are no appropriate programs for independent nursing information systems because there are no nurse informatists in the information department${\rfloor}$ scored highest. Also, ${\lceil}$There is a lack of manual for operation of the nursing information system${\rfloor}$, ${\lceil}$There is difficulty getting help when the system is in trouble${\rfloor}$, ${\lceil}$General information about using computers and managing problems are lacking${\rfloor}$, ${\lceil}$Unsatisfactory matters about the nursing information systems are not improved quickly.${\rfloor}$ received high scores. 2. In the need for improvement of the nursing information system, ${\lceil}$Nursing education and research${\rfloor}$ was the highest area of the system. 3. The problems of the nursing information system showed high positive correlation with the need for improvement of the system(p=.00).

  • Customized information analysis system is a software system that can help to extract useful information from non-structured natural language data, process the information to customized form, and provide future forecast and reasoning information. To implement the information analysis system, we need natural language processing technology to analyze natural language, information extraction technology to detect necessary entity and its relationship from text, and data mining technology to discover new and unknown information from extracting data. This paper suggest virtual customized information analysis system processing national defense news data and introduce base technologies for information analysis.
