Iron oxides are the essential coloring oxides in traditional ceramic glazes. However, when Fe is involved in the coloration in the form of ions or colloids in glazes with low Fe content, it is difficult to identify the iron oxide phases. Generally, in many these glazes, Ca-rich minerals are observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) or microscopic images, owing to their devitrification by the high Ca content. This study attempts to elucidate the correlation between the crystalline structure and coloration in the glazes while mainly focusing on neoformed Ca-rich minerals and Fe content. An experimental firing was carried out to produce tree ash glazes, with pine tree ash and Buyeo feldspar. In the case of oxidation glazes, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and XRD patterns did not exhibit any Ca-rich crystals, and all the visible light reflectance spectra lines exhibited a similar shape. In contrast, the reduction glazes divided into blue glazes and other colored glazes according to the shapes of their reflectance spectra. It was confirmed that the influence of Ca-rich minerals on the glaze color was more pronounced than the blue color of the reduction glazes when the Ca and feldspar contents were sufficiently high and low, respectively, to form wollastonite. As the Ca content increased and the elemental composition of the reduction glazes changed, the neoformation of the Ca-rich minerals, such as wollastonite, anorthite, diopside, and akermanite was sequentially observed.
The ability to account for magnetic and spectra properties of complexes was investigated for the splitting of the degenerate d-orbitals and with nonaqueous solution by UV/vis-spectrophotometric method. The correlation of the magnetitude of 10Dq obtained from the spectra, the pairing energy, and the spin state of the complexes. The electrochemical behavior of complexes were investigated by the use of cyclic voltammetry in aprotic media. These reduction peak of $[(C_6H_5)3_P]_2Pd(II)(CH_3COO)_2$ and $[(C_6H_5)_3Pd]_2Pd(II)Cl_2$ were irreversible one-electron processes at peak $E_{pc1} = -1.32 V,\;E_{pc2} = -1.56 V$ and $E_{pc1} = -1.74 V,\;E_{pc2} = -1.88 V$ of these complexes vs. Ag/AgCl, but nickel complexes were not to be reducible.
The chemical properties of SiOC film was studied for inter-layer insulator. SiOC film was formed with non polarity due to the appropriate union by the alkyl and hydroxyl group. An amorphous structure of non polarity can induce the low dielectric constant materials. The chemical properties of thin film can define the bonding structure owing to the ionic variation, and the analysis of chemical properties was researched by the carbon content using the FTIR spectra, and induced the film with non polarity. The electrical properties is the electron flow, and is always not the same as the chemical properties. The electrical properties of SiOC film with various flow rate ratios was analyzed and researched the correlation between the chemical properties. SiOC film showed the increasing of the leakage current after annealing process, and abruptly increased the carbon content at some samples. But the sample with increasing the carbon content decreased the leakage current. It means that the chemical properties is not the same as the electrical properties, and the carbon is related with the variation of the bonding structure, and does not contribute the current flow.
Aggregation of titania nanotubes (TNTs) fabricated by hydrothermal method were calcined in air and dry nitrogen; Changes in morphology and crystallinity of the nanotubes were studied by means of TEM, EDX, and XPS. EDX patterns and XPS spectra proved that there were a certain densities of oxygen vacancies in TNTs annealed in $N_2$. The photocatalysis experiments revealed TNTs/$N_2$ possesses significantly higher photocatalytic efficiency than TNTs annealed in dry air to degrade methylene blue. The correlation between oxygen vacancies and photocatalytic property may be attributed to: 1) oxygen vacancies might have affected results on water molecules adsorption and increase of the hydroxyl concentration; and 2) oxygen vacancies resulted in some changes in electronic structure of TNTs/$N_2$ aggregation and Fermi level extends into the conducting band.

It was researched the correlation between the Solar cell and the effect of texturing. The samples were textured by using the IPA mixed solution with $HNO_3$, KOH and NaOH. The samples were analyzed by the X-ray Diffraction pattern and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy. The FTIR spectra in the range of 950~1350 $cm^{-1}$ was related to the peak's formation as the bonding structure. The split of peaks means that the inter reaction between the molecular did not activate and then increased the efficiency because of low reflectance as shown the cell treated in NaOH mixed solution.
This study predicts the of the hysteretic friction of a rubber block sliding on an SMA asphalt road. The friction of filled rubber on a rough surface is primarily determined by two elements:the viscoelasticity of the rubber and the multi-scale perspective asperities of the road. The surface asperities of the substrate exert osillating forces on the rubber surface leading to energy dissipation via the internal friction of the rubber when rubber slides on a hard and rough substrate. This study defines the power spectra at different length scales by using a high-resolution surface profilometer, and uses rubber and road surface samples to conduct friction tests. I consider in detail the case when the substrate surface has a self affine fractal structure. The theory developed by Persson is applied to describe these tests through comparison with the hysteretic friction coefficient relevant to the energy dissipation of the viscoelastic rubber attributable to cyclic deformation. The results showed differences in the absolute values of predicted and measured friction, but with high correlation between these values. Hence, the friction prediction model is an appropriate tool for separating the effects of each factor. Therefore, this model will contribute to clearer understanding of the fundamental principles of rubber friction.
Drosophila melanogaster (fruits fly) is a representative model system widely used in biological studies because its brain function and basic cellular processes are similar to human beings. The whole head of the fly is often used to obtain the key function in brain-related diseases like degenerative brain diseases; however the biomolecular distribution of the head may be slightly different from that of a brain. Herein, lipid profiles of the head and dissected brain samples of Drosophila were studied using electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). According to the sample types, the detection of phospholipid ions was suppressed by triacylglycerol (TAG), or the specific phospholipid signals that are absent in the mass spectrum were measured. The lipid distribution was found to be different in the wild-type and the microRNA-14 deficiency model ($miR-14{\Delta}^1$) with abnormal lipid metabolism. A few phospholipids were also profiled by comparison of the head and the brain in two fly model systems. The mass spectra showed that the phospholipid distributions in the $miR-14{\Delta}^1$ model and the wild-type were different, and principal component analysis revealed a correlation between some phospholipids (phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylinositol (PI), and phosphatidylserine (PS)) in $miR-14{\Delta}^1$. The overall results suggested that brain-related lipids should be profiled using fly samples after dissection for more accurate analysis.

Constraints on the structure and composition of the active layer are important for understanding permafrost evolution. Soil convection owing to repeated moisture-induced freeze-thaw cycles within the active layer promotes the formation of self-organized patterned ground. Here we present the results of ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys across a selected sorted circle near King Sejong Station, Antarctica, to better delineate the active layer and its relation to the observed patterned ground structure. We acquire GPR data in both bistatic mode (common mid-points) for precise velocity constraints and monostatic mode (common-offset) for subsurface imaging. Reflections are derived from the active layer-permafrost boundary, organic layer-weathered soil boundary within the active layer, and frozen rock-fracture-filled ice boundary within the permafrost. The base of the imaged sorted circle possesses a convex-down shape in the central silty zone, which is typical for the pattern associated with convection-like soil motion within the active layer. The boundary between the central fine-silty domain and coarse-grained stone border is effectively identified in a radar amplitude contour at the assumed active layer depth, and is further examined in the frequency spectra of the near- and far-offset traces. The far-offset traces and the traces from the lower frequency components dominant on the far-offset traces would be associated with rapid absorption of higher frequency radiowave due to the voids in gravel-rich zone. The presented correlation strategies for analyzing very shallow, thin-layered GPR reflection data can potentially be applied to the various types of patterned ground, particularly for acquiring time-lapse imaging, when electric resistivity tomography is incorporated into the analysis.
The 486m-long roof of Shenzhen Citizens Centre is one of the world's longest spatial lattice roof structures. A comprehensive numerical study of wind effects on the long-span structure is presented in this paper. The discretizing and synthesizing of random flow generation technique (DSRFG) recently proposed by two of the authors (Huang and Li 2008) was adopted to produce a spatially correlated turbulent inflow field for the simulation study. The distributions and characteristics of wind loads on the roof were numerically evaluated by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods, in which Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equations (RANS) Model were employed. The main objective of this study is to explore a useful approach for estimations of wind effects on complex curved roof by CFD techniques. In parallel with the numerical investigation, simultaneous pressure measurements on the entire roof were made in a boundary layer wind tunnel to determine mean, fluctuating and peak pressure coefficient distributions, and spectra, spatial correlation coefficients and probability characteristics of pressure fluctuations. Numerical results were then compared with these experimentally determined data for validating the numerical methods. The comparative study demonstrated that the LES integrated with the DSRFG technique could provide satisfactory prediction of wind effects on the long-span roof with complex shape, especially on separation zones along leading eaves where the worst negative wind-induced pressures commonly occur. The recommended LES and inflow turbulence generation technique as well as associated numerical treatments are useful for structural engineers to assess wind effects on a long-span roof at its design stage.
The thermal degradation of low density polyethylene (LDPE) will accelerate the production of carbonyl groups (C=O), which can act as the induced dipoles under high voltage. In this paper, we researched the dielectric properties and space charge behavior of LDPE after thermal aging, which can help us to understand the correlation between carbonyl groups (C=O) and electrical properties of LDPE. The spectra results show that LDPE exhibit obvious thermooxidative reactions when the aging time is 35 days and the productions mainly contain carboxylic acid, carboxylic eater and carboxylic anhydride, whose amount increase with the increasing of aging time. The dielectric properties show that the real permittivity of LDPE is inversely proportional to temperature before aging and subsequently become proportional to temperature after thermal aging. Furthermore, both the real and imaginary permittivity increase sharply with the increasing of aging time. The fitting results of imaginary permittivity show that DC conductivity become more sensitive about temperature after thermal aging. On this basis, the active energies of materials calculated from DC conductivity increase first and then decrease with the increasing of aging time. In addition, the space charge results show that the heterocharges accumulated near electrodes in LDPE change to the homocharges after thermal aging and the mean volume charge density increase with the increasing of aging time. It is considered that the overlaps caused by electrical potential area is the main reason for the increase of DC conductivity.
