  • The goal of the study is to analyze some structural issues of e-sport industry which has rapidly developed since 2000. Most of the previous studies regarding e-sport dealt with e-sport in terms of industrial prospect and economic values. In this study, we attempted to focus on employees of the field using in-depth interview method. Research findings show that there were several reasons for younger workers to early enter into the industry such as individualized labor market of post-modern era, growth of IT industry, and diversion of related occupational categories. The development of e-sport industry was possible with the youth' passion for the industry. However, their labor so called "professional" is vulnerable without systematic structure for them. This indicates that industrial prospect of e-sport industry and business models are not healthy. In addition, some implications of the findings were discussed.

  • Before the financial crisis in 1997, Korean bond markets had been those of corporate bonds with relatively high market yield. During the period, most of major institutional investors tend to utilize passive strategies such as buying and holding. After the crisis, however, they could not help choosing active bond management strategies because of lowed yield level and intensified competition among the financial institutions. This study is forced on the yield curve, which is the reflection of all information on the bond investment environments. The study also make analysis on the major economic and securities market factors and its structural relationship with the shape of the curve such as level, curvature and slope. For these purposes, an empirical model based on the Nelson-Siegel Model is estimated with the data during $1999{\sim}2006$. Out-of-sample forecasting is also made to test the usefulness of the estimated model. In addition, the dependent variables which are the estimates of level and slope are estimated on the macro variables and securities market variables. VAR and SUR models are used for the estimation. Estimation results show that level and slope of the yield curve are influenced by the target call rate change, exchange rate change rate, inflation rate. These results provide practical implications for the active managements in the overall treasury bond markets.

  • The predominant concern of the study consist in: (1) the direct effect of social commitment on teachers' intervention efficacy for helping both victims and offenders in school violence situation; (2) the indirect effects of both teachers' perceptions of offenders and victims, and fairness of school regulations on teachers' intervention efficacy. Research is based on a survey conducted with 351 teachers(84 males and 267 females) from 10 middle schools located in different districts of the city of Daegu. In order for subjects to verify research questions, structural equation models in teachers' intervention efficacy for helping both victims and offenders were explored. In order to verify the difference between mediators' effect, along with total indirect effect and each individual mediator's effects, bias-corrected bootstrapping analysis by using Mplus were employed. The major findings of the study supported the significance on direct effect of social commitment, and indirect effect of both fairness of school regulations and teachers' perceptions toward offenders and victims, on teachers' intervention efficacy. However, the indirect effect of fairness of school regulations(.025) was far outweighed by teachers' perceptions(.224) toward offenders and victims. In conclusion, the above findings claim our attention in that they provide a range of practical implications for teachers and other related professionals including school workers who are engaged in helping out both victims and offenders in school violence situation.

  • The number and structure of synapses are dynamically changed in response to diverse physiological and pathological conditions. Since strength of synaptic transmission is closely related to the synaptic density on a neuron, both synaptogenesis and synapse loss may play important roles in controlling neuronal activity. Thus it is essential to estimate the number of synapses using an accurate quantitative method for better understanding of the numerical alteration of synapses under terrain experimental conditions. We applied physical disector principle to estimating the number of synapses per neuron in the dentate gyrus of adult mice. First, we measured the numerical density of granule cells using the physical disector principle. Second, the density of medial perforant path to granule cell synapses was estimated using the bidirectional physical disector. Then, the volume ratio of molecular layer to granule cell layer was measured. With these numerial values, we successfully calculated the number of synapses per neuron. Individual granule cells have approximately 6500 synapses in the dentate gyrus of adult mice $(6,545{\pm}330)$, which are comparable to those of other researchers. Our results showed that the estimation of synapse numbers per neuron using the physical disector principle would provide accurate and precise information on the numerical alteration of synapses in diverse physiological and pathological conditions. Following analyses of synapse numbers using this method will contribute to the better understanding of structural synaptic plasticity in a variety of experimental animal models.

  • The hERG (human ether-a-go-go related gene) ion channel is a main factor for cardiac repolarization, and the blockade of this channel could induce arrhythmia and sudden death. Therefore, potential hERG ion channel inhibitors are now a primary concern in the drug discovery process, and lots of efforts are focused on the minimizing the cardiotoxic side effect. In this study, $IC_{50}$ data of 202 organic compounds in HEK (human embryonic kidney) cell from literatures were used to develop predictive 2D-QSAR model. Multiple linear regression (MLR), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and artificial neural network (ANN) were utilized to predict inhibition concentration of hERG ion channel as machine learning methods. Population based-forward selection method with cross-validation procedure was combined with each learning method and used to select best subset descriptors for each learning algorithm. The best model was ANN model based on 14 descriptors ($R^2_{CV}$=0.617, RMSECV=0.762, MAECV=0.583) and the MLR model could describe the structural characteristics of inhibitors and interaction with hERG receptors. The validation of QSAR models was evaluated through the 5-fold cross-validation and Y-scrambling test.

  • In this study, a finite element analysis and a vibration test were performed to estimate the natural frequencies of mouse femurs with osteoporosis. Three groups of the femurs include the osteoporotic group, the treated group and the normal group. For the finite element analysis, the micro finite element model of the femur was reconstructed using the Micro-CT images and the Voxel mesh generation algorithm. In the vibration test, the natural frequencies were measured by the mobility test. from the results, the averaged natural frequencies in the osteoporotic group were the highest, followed by those in the treated group. The finite element models were validated within 15% errors by comparing the natural frequencies in the finite element analysis with those in the vibration test. The developed Micro-CT system, the Yokel mesh generation algorithm, the presented finite element analysis, and vibration test could be useful for the investigation of the structural change of the bone tissue, and the diagnosis and the treatment in the osteoporosis.

  • The reasonable prediction of time-dependent deformation of prestressed concrete(PSC) box girder bridges is very important for accurate construction as well as good serviceability. The long-term behavior is mostly influenced by the probabilistic characteristic of creep and shrinkage. This paper presents a method of statistical analysis and sensitivity analysis of creep and shrinkage effects in PSC box been taken into account - model uncertainty, parameter variation and environmental condition. The statistical and sensitivity analyses are performed by using the numerical simulation of Latin Hypercube sampling. For each sample, the time-dependent structural analysis is performed to produce response data, which are then statistically analyzed. The probabilistic prediction of the confidence limits on long-term effects of creep and shrinkage is then expressed. Three measure are examined to quantify the sensitivity of the outputs of each of the input variables. These are rank correlation coefficient(RCC), partical rank correlation coefficient(PRCC) and standardiozed rank regression coefficient(SRRC) computed on the ranks of the observations. Three creep and shrinkage models - i. e., ACI model. CEB-FIP model and the model in Korea Highway Bridge Specification - are studied. The creep model uncertainy factor and the relative humidity appear to be the most dominant factors with regard to the model output uncertainty.

  • Bridges in common use are expected to have more varieties of load in their connected members and bolts than in construction. Faults in connection members or bolts occur so often according to the time flow. One of the purposes of this study is to find out the behavior and structural features of high-tension bolted joints with faults that are very difficult and cost much to find out through experimentation with finite element analysis. Another purpose of this study is to provide sufficient data, estimated experimental results, and the scheme of the test plate for an economical experimental study in the future. Surveys of bridges with a variety of faults and statistical classifications of their faults were performed, as was a finite element analysis of the internal stress and the sliding behavior of standard and defective bridge models. The finite element analysis of the internal stress was performed according to the interval of the bolt, the thickness of the plate, the distance of the edge, the diameter of the bolt, and the expansion of the construction. Furthermore, the analysis explained the sliding behavior of high-tension bolt joints and showed the geometric non-linear against the large deformation, and the boundary non-linear against the non-linear in the contact surface, including the material non-linear, to best explain the exceeding of the yield stress by sliding. A normally bolted high-tension bolt joint and deduction of bolt tension were also analyzed with the finite element analysis of bridge-sliding behavior.

  • When most drivers take to the freeway, they don't necessarily pay attention to the geometric design. They expect proper design by depending on their own senses and recognition. When they evaluate the features of traveling on the freeway, they can think differently than engineers. The design needs to predict the exact speed of the driver to satisfy the driver's expectation, safety, pleasure and so on. This study categorized the factors influencing the speed of six freeways considering geometric and operational features to make a prediction model of speed. The model used multiple regression with these factors and produced statically appropriate results. This study utilized the principle component analysis and the quantification II analysis based on the image data of the satisfaction of the traveling environment collected through individual interviews. As a result, this study found the factors of satisfaction in a traveling environment. It made a satisfaction model of the traveling environment on freeways considering the change of driver's actual recognition and societal recognition using structural equations and the quantification II theory. Through the model made in this study, This model can present not only qualitative factors like satisfaction of traveling environment on freeways, but also the quantitative elements like speed. What is important is the evaluation of features of traveling on freeways reflected in the recognition and traffic environment felt by drivers.

  • The earth's crust is unceasingly undergoing deformations because of the forces acting upon it. The relationship between the tectonic forces and the resulting deformations are found from the states of stresses in the earth's crust induced by these forces. The study has been attempted to analyze the deformations of the overlying sedimentary layers, which are deformed by the magma intrusion along its lower boundary. The elastic model is constructed to analyze the geologic structures, by means of the theory of elasticity, and then the appropriate boundary conditions are given. The solution of the Airy stress function which satisfies the given boundary conditions is derived from the analytic method. The internal stress distributions of the deformed elastic model layer are portrayed by principal stress trajetories, and then the corresponding potential faults and joints systems are predicted from the Coulomb-Mohr failure criterion. The internal displacement distributions are shown by the calculated displacement components vectors, namely horizontal, vertical and net components. Results of the numerical calculations show the developments of some geologic structures as follows; (1) one set of shear joints and or two sets of shear joints which are oppisite directions, and one set of extension joints parallel to the ${\sigma}_1$ direction, (2) one set of high angle thrusts and normal faults, (3) symmetric fold; both limbs are dipping in opposite direction with low angle. The field work at the Wall-A San area, located near Jinju City, in southern Korea, had accomplished to compare the field structures with the predicted ones. The results of the comparison exhibits the developments of joint and fault systems satisfactorily consistent with each others. But the area does not show any type of folding, in spite of the intrusion of a granodiorite massif, this fact is one of the important features of the whole Kyungsang sedimentary basins of Mesozoic age distributed at the south-eastern parts of Korea. For this reason, it is thought that the magma intrusion had occurred with extremly low pressure. The geologic structures have been modified by the erosion and weathering throughout the geologic time, and the conditions of the sedimentary layers (width, thickness and radius of magma) are not the same as before, being intruded by the magma. To enlighten this, it is preferable to study these geologic structures with analyses of various types of rheological models.
