  • The conventional framework of welfare politics, based on class concepts, tends to fail in explaining the recent social changes. Theoretical response from the social science diverges into two blocs. One is the postmodernist approach that denies possibility of structural cleavage; the other is the alternative trial that seeks to find various kinds of cleavages. The former approach is to be rejected because there is few empirical supports for it. The latter is too sparse to be applied to the studies of welfare politics that requires a comprehensive analysis. This study starts from critical investigation of such approaches, aiming at providing a theoretical framework that combines merits of existing studies on welfare politics. The theoretical framework of three statuses of welfare rights and duties, which is to be presented as an alternative to the conventional class counterpart, does not only underscore the expansion of welfare rights but also the burden of welfare duties. Hence, it can comprehensively subsume complex existence of interest cleavages of welfare politics. To make a long story short, individual interest, related to the welfare state, will effect individual attitudes toward the welfare state and their ways of political support.

패션브랜드자산의 형성과정에 관한 연구: 캐주얼 브랜드를 중심으로 (The Conceptual Framework of Building Fashion Brand Equity; Focused on casual wear brand)

  • In this complex marketing world, marketers find themselves having to grapple with difficult issues about branding and their brand management. In many cases, a deeper understanding of how consumers feel, think, and act could provide valuable guidance to address these brand-management challenges. The objective of this study is to conceptualize and test the framework of building fashion brand equity, utilizing Keller's CBBE Model as a theoretical framework and Kim and Lim's (2002) scale as a measurement model of fashion brand equity. We conducted a survey toward 696 university students using Kim and Lim's fashion brand equity scale. To test the hypothesized building paths of fashion brand equity, statistical analyses were performed with AMOS 4.1 program using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model. The results of this study were as follows. First, fashion brand equity was defined in terms of six components; customer-brand resonance, customer feeling, customer judgment, brand imagery. brand performance and brand awareness. Fashion brand equity was multi-dimensional brand attitude, which could be measured by 16 items. Consequently, Kim and Lim's scale acquired a statistical validity. Second, the proposed conceptual framework of this study was partially significant. We can provide an effectiveness of Keller's CBBE model to conceptualize the building process of fashion brand equity. Third, it was different between two brands to build fashion brand equity.

  • Networked enterprise (NE) is an organization of independent companies that collaborate with each other temporary or permanently for accomplishing common goals. The USA and EU have been developing principal concepts, techniques, and solutions to enhance the competitiveness of traditional industries including small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs). In Korea, however, implementation as well as R&D of NE is very few, which we believe comes from lack of understanding on Its meaning and lack of effective information systems for it. This paper is to suggest an Enterprise Architecture (EA) framework or reference model of NE and an Information Technology Architecture (ITA) of NE. The EA framework will help stakeholder of NE (e,g., policy makers, members of NE, IT solution providers, and researchers) understand structural and behavioral characteristics of NE. The ITA will be used as a guideline of developing information systems for NE that is essential for spreading networked business models, The focus of this paper is not on logical-level design but on conceptual-level modeling of NE. As verification of the suggested framework and architecture is still required, so we'll apply them to various manifestations of NE, e.g., dynamic supply chain, vertical integration of extended enterprises, and P2P-style virtual enterprises.

Application of BIM-integrated Construction Simulation to Construction Production Planning

  • Traditional construction planning based on historical data and heuristic adjustment can no longer incorporate all the operational details and guarantee the expected performance. The variation between the expected and the actual production leads to cost overruns or delay. Although predicting reliable productivity on construction site is getting more important, the difficulty of this increases. In this regard, this paper suggested to develop BIM-integrated simulation framework. This framework could predict productivity dynamics by considering factors affecting on construction productivity at operational phase. We developed the following processes; 1) enabling a BIM model to produce input data for simulation; 2) developing the construction operation simulation; 3) running simulation using BIM data and obtaining productivity results. The BIM-integrated simulation framework was tested with structural steel erection model because steel erection work is one of the most critical process influencing on the whole construction budget and duration. We could improve to predict more dynamic productivity from this framework, and this reliable productivity helps construction managers to optimize resource allocation, increase schedule reliability, save storage cost, and reduce material loss.

Estimation of structural vector autoregressive models

  • In this survey, estimation methods for structural vector autoregressive models are presented in a systematic way. Both frequentist and Bayesian methods are considered. Depending on the model setup and type of restrictions, least squares estimation, instrumental variables estimation, method-of-moments estimation and generalized method-of-moments are considered. The methods are presented in a unified framework that enables a practitioner to find the most suitable estimation method for a given model setup and set of restrictions. It is emphasized that specifying the identifying restrictions such that they are linear restrictions on the structural parameters is helpful. Examples are provided to illustrate alternative model setups, types of restrictions and the most suitable corresponding estimation methods.

  • A hybrid optimization method for the identification of state-space models is presented in this study. Hybridization is succeeded by combining the advantages of deterministic and stochastic algorithms in a superior scheme that promises faster convergence rate and reliability in the search for the global optimum. The proposed hybrid algorithm is developed by replacing the original stochastic mutation operator of Evolution Strategies (ES) by the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) quasi-Newton algorithm. This substitution results in a scheme where the entire population cloud is involved in the search for the global optimum, while single individuals are involved in the local search, undertaken by the LM method. The novel hybrid identification framework is assessed through the Monte Carlo analysis of a simulated system and an experimental case study on a shear frame structure. Comparisons to subspace identification, as well as to conventional, self-adaptive ES provide significant indication of superior performance.

구조물의 손상탐지를 위한 센서위치 연구 (A Study on the Sensor Placement for Structural Damage Detection)

  • In the present study, the inverse perturbation method is applied to the structural damage detection in conjunction with a system condensation technique. The system condensation technique is adopted to r esolve the problem due to the incomplete measurement of the degrees-of-freedom (DOFs) in a natural mode. However, the numerical difficulty may arise in the system condensation when the DOFs to be measured are not properly selected. Thus, the issue of sensor placement for structural damage detection, in the framework of the condensation technique-based inverse perturbation method, is considered in this study. Also, a methodology to measure the number of sensors required to obtain reliable damage detection is proposed and then verified through some illustrative example problem.

  • In this paper, a generalized framework called as robust internal-loop compensator(RIC) is presented, and by using this, a structural design method of sliding of sliding mode controller is proposed. First, a general sliding mode controller is derived and a stabilizing control input is designed based on Lyapunov redesign for the system in the presence of uncertainty and disturbance. And adopting the internal model following control, RIC is proposed. Next, using the structural characteristics of the proposed RIC, disturbance attenuation characteristics are analyzed and the performance of the closed-loop system is predicted. Through this analysis, it is shown that if the control gain of RIC is increased by N times, the magnitude of error is reduced to its 1/N. the proposed method is verified through experiments using a high-precision positioning system and the performance is evaluated.

우리나라 철도수송의 생산성 변화 (Productivity growth in Korean Railway Transport)

  • This paper investigates the productivity growth in Korean railway transport. The productivity growth is calculated by a process of measuring of pure efficiency change index(PECI), scale efficiency change index(SECI), and technical change index(TCI), using Data envelopment analysis (DEA) method. The data cover the period 1999$\sim$2006; 1999$\sim$2003 are the pre-structural reform years and the post-structural reform years are 2004$\sim$2006. The framework for the analysis is Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI) of the to investigate the impacts of structural reform on productivity growth, respectively. The inputs considered are the length of operating line, the number of staff, the number of coach and wagon, and the outputs are the trains movement of passenger and freight, and the traffic of passenger and freight. Results indicate that Korean railway experienced a annual productivity growth of approx. 3% after the structural reform.

HMO(Health Maintenance Orgarnization)의 내부조직구조와 의료비용절감과의 관계 (The Relationship between HMO's Organizational Structures and Cost Reduction)

  • This study investigates effcts of HMO internal structural arrangements on performance, specially cost reduction measured by hospitalization rate. This study formulates formalization, centralization measured by decision-making participation, differentiation, and coordination as structural factors, considering coordination as an intermediate factor between the rest of structural factors and hospitalization rate. The commonly used HMO types is assumed not effective in explaining performance differences. For the empirical test, I use bootstrap regression analyses with 48 HMOs. The results of the analyses show that HMO types fail to explain differences in hospitalization rate. However, dicision-making participation and differention effectively reduce hospiatalization rate, while frmalization increases hospitalization rate and coordination has nonessential effect on hospitalization rate. And, formalization and decision-making participation positively contribute to achieve coordination in HMO. These findings suggest that the theoretical framework derived from rational-citingency theory of formal organization better explains performance differences of HMOs than HMO types.
