Wake-induced vibration of the hanger of a suspension bridge: Field measurements and theoretical modeling

  • The underlying mechanism of the wind-induced vibration of the hangers of the suspension bridges is still not fully understood at present and hence is comprehensively examined in this study. More specifically, a series of field measurements on the No. 2 hanger of the Xihoumen Bridge was first carefully conducted. Large amplitude vibrations of the hanger were found and the oscillation amplitude of the leeward cable was obviously larger than that of the windward cables. Furthermore, the trajectory of the leeward cable was close to an ellipse, which agreed well with the major characteristics of wake-induced vibration. Then, a theoretical model for the wake-induced vibration based on a 3-D continuous cable was established. To obtain the responses of the leeward cable, the finite difference method (FDM) was adopted to numerically solve the established motion equation. Finally, numerical simulations by using the structural parameters of the No. 2 hanger of the Xihoumen Bridge were carried out within the spatial range of $4{\leq}X{\leq}10$ and $0{\leq}Y{\leq}4$ with a uniform interval of ${\Delta}X={\Delta}Y=0.25$. The results obtained from numerical simulations agreed well with the main features obtained from the field observations on the Xihoumen Bridge. This observation indicates that the wake-induced vibration might be one of the reasons for the hanger oscillation of the suspension bridge. In addition, the effects of damping ratio and windward cable movement on the wake-induced vibration of the leeward cable were numerically investigated.

  • 최근에 기업에서는 전략경영에서의 업무효율을 증진시키기 위하여 비즈니스 인텔리젼스 시스템의 구축에 노력을 기울이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 비즈니스 인텔리젼스 시스템의 구축에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 분석하기 위해서 기존에 비즈니스 인텔리젼스 시스템을 구축하여 활용하고 있는 기업을 대상으로 시스템의 구축에 중요한 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대한 설문을 실시하였다. 이를 검증하기 위하여 요인분석(FA)을 실시하였다. 요인분석을 통해서 핵심 구축지표들의 그룹화 된 요인을 도출하였고, 이들 요인들 사이의 관계를 구정식을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과에 의하면 기업이 사용 중인 정보시스템의 기능과 경영전략이 비즈니스인텔리젼스 시스템의 구축의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 연구되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 효과적으로 비즈니스 인텔리젼스 시스템의 구축하고자 하는 기업에게 방향을 제시하는데 공헌을 할 것이라고 생각한다.

The Effect of Hierarchy Culture on Clan Leadership and Organizational Commitment of Export-Driven SMEs

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study examines the mediating effect of clan leadership in the relationship between hierarchy culture and organizational commitment. Most previous research focused on the relationship between organizational culture and organizational performance or organizational culture and job satisfaction. There are few empirical studies that focus on organizational commitment data because it is difficult to collect in many cases of export-driven small and medium sized enterprises. However, this research measures affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment differently than previous research, which is mostly focused on the hierarchy culture, clan leadership, and organizational commitment measurements. Research design, data, methodology: Conceptual research model is based on the studies of Cameron and Quinn (2011), and Gungor and Sahin (2018). The model is designed with three constructs such as hierarchy culture, organizational commitment, and clan leadership. The monitor culture and coordinator culture are as proxy for the hierarchy culture. The affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment are as proxy for the organizational commitment. And also the facilitator leadership and mentor leadership are as proxy for the clan leadership. Based on three hundred cases such as export-driven small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), this study verify the hypothesis. Hypothesis was analyzed with the structural equation modeling. Results: In case of export-driven small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), clan leadership acts as a mediator in the relationship between hierarchy culture and organizational commitment. In case of export-driven small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with high organizational commitment, clan leadership acts as a mediator in the relationship between hierarchy culture and organizational commitment. In case of export-driven small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with low organizational commitment, clan leadership did not act as a mediator in the relationship between hierarchy culture and organizational commitment. Conclusions: By controlling for the mediating effect of clan culture, this study have improved the academic contributions as well as policy and practical implications through empirical study of clan leadership that affect organizational commitment in the fields of hierarchy culture. In addition, this study means that the mediating effects on the variables of clan leadership were examined.

Vector mechanics-based simulation of large deformation behavior in RC shear walls using planar four-node elements

  • For the large deformation of shear walls under vertical and horizontal loads, there are difficulties in obtaining accurate simulation results using the response analysis method, even with fine mesh elements. Furthermore, concrete material nonlinearity, stiffness degradation, concrete cracking and crushing, and steel bar damage may occur during the large deformation of reinforced concrete (RC) shear walls. Matrix operations that are involved in nonlinear analysis using the traditional finite-element method (FEM) may also result in flaws, and may thus lead to serious errors. To solve these problems, a planar four-node element was developed based on vector mechanics. Owing to particle-based formulation along the path element, the method does not require repeated constructions of a global stiffness matrix for the nonlinear behavior of the structure. The nonlinear concrete constitutive model and bilinear steel material model are integrated with the developed element, to ensure that large deformation and damage behavior can be addressed. For verification, simulation analyses were performed to obtain experimental results on an RC shear wall subjected to a monotonically increasing lateral load with a constant vertical load. To appropriately evaluate the parameters, investigations were conducted on the loading speed, meshing dimension, and the damping factor, because vector mechanics is based on the equation of motion. The static problem was then verified to obtain a stable solution by employing a balanced equation of motion. Using the parameters obtained, the simulated pushover response, including the bearing capacity, deformation ability, curvature development, and energy dissipation, were found to be in accordance with the experimental observation. This study demonstrated the potential of the developed planar element for simulating the entire process of large deformation and damage behavior in RC shear walls.

프랜차이즈 레스토랑의 선택속성이 지각된 가치와 고객만족 및 고객충성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Franchise Restaurant Selection Attributes on Perceived Value, Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty)

  • Purpose - Recently, global management in Korea franchise industry is becoming an important keyword. As an important branch market, Chinese market plays a major role not only by making experience of the competitiveness among global brands which offers a foothold to become a top global brand, but also by actualizing an economies of scale in production, sales, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to identify key successful factor influencing customer evaluation and responses of Korean franchise restaurant targeting Chinese consumers in China context. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects for Korean franchise restaurant selection attributes on perceived value, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty in Chinese context with SmartPLS 3 and Artifical Neural Network(ANN). Research design, data, and methodology - For these purposes, the authors developed several hypotheses. A questionnaire survey was conducted on the panel of online survey companies for Chinese consumers who have visited Korean franchise restaurants. A total of 404 data were analyzed using structural equation modeling(SEM) and artifical neural network(ANN) with SPSS 22.0 and SmartPLS 3.0. Result - The findings of this study are as follows: First, the alternative model findings show that facilities & atmosphere, employee service, and menu influenced on utilitarian value, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty directly. Second, employee service influenced on customer satisfaction. Third, menu influenced on hedonic value. Fourth, brand reputation influenced on utilitarian value. Fifth, hedonic value increase customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Sixth, hedonic value increase customer loyalty. Seventh, customer increase customer loyalty. And, the ANN analysis shows that utilitarian value is the first most important factor influencing customer satisfaction, followed by hedonic value, facilities & atmosphere, menu and employee service. However, the ANN analysis shows that customer satisfaction is the first most important factor influencing customer loyalty, followed by utilitarian value, hedonic value, brand reputation, menu, and employee service. Conclusions - This study provides practical implications for enhancing customer satisfaction and customer loyalty by applying the ANN technique that complements the limitations of the linear structural relationship analysis using the proposed model and the alternative model. In other words, the SEM-ANN model provides guidelines on how Korean franchise restaurants should formulate facilities & atmosphere, employee service, and menu mix strategies in China. In addition, ANN 's analysis shows that restaurant brand reputation plays a pivotal role in increasing customer loyalty. The fact suggests that Korean franchise companies should establish their domestic brand reputation prior to their entry into overseas markets such as China.

  • This study showed that the association between solidarity and conflict is mediated by the communication of grandmothers and an adult child at the dyadic level. The common fate model (CFM) was designed to model mediation effects at the level of dyads. Participants consisted of 297 grandmother dyads and their adult child who were rearing preschool-aged grandchildren in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. For analysis at the dyadic level, grandmothers and adults responded to the same questionnaire on the same variables. SPSS 23.0 performed descriptive statistical analysis and correlation analysis. The structural equation model (SEM) was estimated with AMOS 23.0. We tested the mediation model using the maximum likelihood method. Model fit index used the chi-square statistic, the incremental fit index (IFI), the comparative fit index (CFI), the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA). The statistical significance of the indirect effect was examined using a bootstrapping procedure. The results are as follows. First, in the CFM, the direct effect between solidarity and conflict was significant. Therefore, the higher the solidarity, the lower conflict of grandmothers and an adult child. Second, the association between solidarity and conflict is mediated by communication at the dyadic level. Based on the results of this study, we discussed ways to strengthen the capacity of co-parenting between grandmothers and an adult child.

5G 서비스의 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Factors Affecting the Usage Intentions of 5G Mobile Communication Service)

  • 본 연구는 5G 서비스 초기 시장에서 통합적으로 확장된 기술수용모형을 기반으로 가입자 집단과 미가입자 집단의 5G 서비스의 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 도출하고 비교 분석을 하였다. 선행 연구를 고찰하고 영향 요인의 명확한 규명을 위하여, 5G 서비스의 기술적 요인과 사회적 요인, 개인적 요인들로 구성되는 외생변수들과 매개변수들 및 종속변수 간의 영향 관계를 분석해 가설을 설정하고 변수들의 측정 항목을 정의하여, 5G 서비스의 이용의도에 관한 연구 모형을 설계하였다. 5G 서비스 가입자 집단과 미가입자 집단 별로, 각 245명을 대상으로 측정 항목에 대한 설문을 조사하였다. 구조방정식 모형 분석 결과, 두 집단에 공통으로, 지각된 용이성이 지각된 유용성과 유희성에, 지각된 유용성과 유희성 및 개인 혁신성이 지속적 이용의도 및 수용의도에 정의 영향을 미쳤으며, 이용비용은 지각된 유용성에 부의 영향을 미쳤다. 가입자 집단에서는 네트워크 품질과 광고가 지각된 유용성과 유희성에, 스마트폰 품질과 사회적 영향력이 지각된 용이성에 정의 영향을 미쳤다. 특히 개인 혁신성이 지각된 유용성에 부의 영향을 미쳤다. 미가입자 집단에서는 네트워크 품질과 광고가 지각된 용이성에, 스마트폰 품질은 지각된 유용성과 유희성에, 자아 효능감은 지각된 용이성과 유용성 및 유희성에 정의 영향을 미쳤으며, 특히 개인 혁신성은 지각된 유희성에 부의 영향을 미치는 것이 파악되었다. 두 집단에 공통으로 지각된 유희성, 개인 혁신성, 지각된 유용성의 순으로 이용의도에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 5G 초기 과도기적인 서비스에서 네트워크 품질과 스마트폰 품질의 신념변수에 미치는 영향은 집단 간 상반되는 결과를 보였으며, 서비스 품질은 사회적 요인 및 개인적 요인의 신념변수에 대한 영향에 관여를 하는 것으로 추정되었다.

How to Forecast Behavioral Effects on Mobile Advertising in the Smart Environment using the Technology Acceptance Model and Web Advertising Effect Model

  • This paper proposes and then verifies a model that can be used to forecast the effects of behavior on mobile advertising based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Web Advertising Effect. The objective of this research is to probe the relationship between the cause and effect of the entertainment, informativeness, usefulness, capacity to accommodate smart-environment technologies, Hedonic Adaptation Model (HAM), etc. that mobile advertisements provide, as well as the attitudes toward advertisements in general. In order to accomplish this goal, the research was verified using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), and the results are as follows. First, the informativeness of mobile advertising has a positive effect on the recognized ease of use. Second, the entertainment and informativeness of mobile advertising has positive effects on the recognized usefulness. Third, the recognized ease of use has a positive effect on the recognized usefulness. Fourth, the informativeness of mobile advertising causes a positive effect on smart-environment technologies. Fifth, the entertainment and informativeness of mobile advertising cause positive effects on the HAM. Sixth, smart-environment technologies cause positive effects on the HAM. Seventh, the recognized usefulness causes a positive effect on the value of mobile advertising and the intention of use. Eighth, the HAM has a positive effect on the value of mobile advertising and the general attitudes toward it. Ninth, the value of mobile advertising has a positive effect on the attitudes toward advertising. Tenth, the attitudes toward mobile advertising have a positive effect on the intention of use.

보건의료 조직에서 리더십 유형, 직무만족, 조직몰입 간의 구조적 관계 : 간호 및 행정직을 중심으로 (The Structural Relations of leadership Type, Job Satisfaction, and Organizational Commitment in Healthcare Organizations)

  • Healthcare organizations need mutual cooperation among various medical professionals in order to carry out the performance of their duties spite of haying a strong job specialization and independence based on license. However, spite of the importance of leadership roles, there have not been enough researches dealt with leadership effect under the complex duties' relationship of a healthcare organization. This study suggested a new model by combining characteristics of leadership style, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment using Structural Equation Model (SEM). The data were self-administered questionnaires collected in 2006 from 437 employees (nurses, medical technicians, and administrative staffs) of 5 hospitals located in Seoul. The items of questionnaire were composed as a method of choosing new leadership style based on the Bass's standardized questionnaire on a Iransactionaljtransformational leadership combining the Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire-XII (LBDQ-XII) of the Ohio State University and Graen and Uhl-Bien's LMK scale through simulation techniques responding to organizational commitment. As a result, the leadership style increasing employees' self-confidence and having continuous response relationship between managers and employees improved their discretion and empowerment as well as worthwhileness and pride. However, the leadership style emphasizing reward and a sense of duty brought about a bed result that was not able to effectively respond to employees' discretion and empowerment and even weakened their worthwhileness and pride. After all, the leadership style based on vision and change had an effect on organizational commitment but the other one based on reward and a sense of duty seemed to be unsuccessful in organizational commitment. Therefore, the desirable leadership in a healthcare organization should be based on employees' self-confidence and continuous response relationship between managers and employees.

도시정비사업에서 조합원 입주부담금 결정요인의 영향력 분석 (Influence Analysis of Determinants on Member's Payment in Urban Renewal Project)

  • 본 연구는 사업시행의 핵심요인이라 할 수 있는 경제적 측면에서 조합원의 실질적인 입주부담금에 영향을 미치는 개별요인들의 구조적 인과구조를 밝히고, 모의실험과 실증분석을 통해 그 영향력을 파악하고자 하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 조합원의 실질적인 입주부담금은 조합원에게 적용되는 특별분양가와 일반분양가와의 차익 및 관리처분계획 인가 시점과 입주 시점의 시차에 의해 발생하는 시세차익을 반영하여 결정되는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 조합원의 실질적 입주부담금에 영향을 미치는 개별요인들의 민감도를 분석한 결과, 사업구역에 적용되는 계획용적률이 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 사업구역 내 기반시설 설치 시 비용분담 주체에 따라서도 조합원의 입주부담금은 크게 영향을 받는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 조합원 입주부담금 결정요인들 간의 인과관계를 기초로 구조모형을 설정하고, 이를 구조방정식모형(SEM)을 이용하여 개별요인들이 미치는 영향경로와 영향력을 실증적으로 살펴보았는데 규제요소 및 지역특성요소가 계획요소를 매개로 하여 입주부담금에 영향을 미치는 구조를 나타내었다.
