During this study, various stress path tests in previous isotropic and anisotropic (compression and tension) stress histories are performed on weathered granite soil sampled at Iksan, Jeonbuk. Yielding points are determined from various stress-strain curves(stress ratio-shear strain, volumetric strain, normalized energy and dissipated total energy curves). The shape and characteristics of isotropic and anisotropic yielding curves are examined. The main results are summarized as follows . 1) Yielding curries defined from stress ratio - normarized energy and dissipated total energy curves show almost perfect ellipse. 2) Directions of plastic strain incremental vector are not perpendicular to yielding curve. 3) Normarized energy and dissipated total energy spread with similar tendency with respect to yielding currie in stress space.

It has been reported that cracks in mechanical joints is generally under mixed-mode and there is critical inclined angle at which mode I stress intensity factor becomes maximum. The crack propagates in arbitrary direction and thus the prediction of crack growth path is needed to provide against crack propagation or examine safety. In order to evaluate the fatigue life of cracks in mechanical joints, horizontal crack normal to the applied load and located on minimum cross section is major concern but critical inclined crack must also be considered. In this paper mixed-mode fatigue crack growth test is performed far horizontal crack and critical inclined crack in mechanical joints. Fatigue crack growth path is predicted by maximum tangential stress criterion using stress intensity factor obtained from weight function method, and fatigue crack growth rates of horizontal and inclined crack are compared.
This study focused on modeling the behavior of the compressive stress using the average strain and ultrasonic test results in concrete. Feed-forward backpropagation artificial neural network (ANN) models were used to compare four types of concrete mixtures with varying water cement ratio (WC), ordinary concrete (ORC) and concrete with short steel fiber-reinforcement (FRC). Sixteen (16) $150mm{\times}150mm{\times}150mm$ concrete cubes were used; each contained eighteen (18) data sets. Ultrasonic test with pitch-catch configuration was conducted at each loading state to record linear and nonlinear test response with multiple step loads. Statistical Spearman's rank correlation was used to reduce the input parameters. Different types of concrete produced similar top five input parameters that had high correlation to compressive stress: average strain (${\varepsilon}$), fundamental harmonic amplitude (A1), $2^{nd}$ harmonic amplitude (A2), $3^{rd}$ harmonic amplitude (A3), and peak to peak amplitude (PPA). Twenty-eight ANN models were trained, validated and tested. A model was chosen for each WC with the highest Pearson correlation coefficient (R) in testing, and the soundness of the behavior for the input parameters in relation to the compressive stress. The ANN model showed increasing WC produced delayed response to stress at initial stages, abruptly responding after 40%. This was due to the presence of more voids for high water cement ratio that activated Contact Acoustic Nonlinearity (CAN) at the latter stage of the loading path. FRC showed slow response to stress than ORC, indicating the resistance of short steel fiber that delayed stress increase against the loading path.
The current design equations for predicting the torsional capacity of RC members underestimate the torsional strength of under-reinforced members and overestimate the torsional strength of over-reinforced members. This is because the design equations consider only the yield strength of torsional reinforcement and the cross-sectional properties of members in determining the torsional capacity. This paper presents an analytical model to predict the thickness of shear flow path in RC beams subjected to pure torsion. The analytical model assumes that torsional reinforcement resists torsional moment with a sufficient deformation capacity until concrete fails by crushing. The ACI 318 code is modified by applying analytical results from the proposed model such as the average stress of torsional reinforcement and the effective gross area enclosed by the shear flow path. Comparison of the calculated and observed torsional strengths of existing 129 test beams showed good agreement. Two design variables related to the compressive strength of concrete in the proposed model are approximated for design application. The accuracy of the ACI 318 code for the over-reinforced test beams improved somewhat with the use of the approximations for the average stresses of reinforcements and the effective gross area enclosed by the shear flow path.
Settlement analysis based on oedometer test results with or without Skempton-Bjerrum's modification method ( widely used for practical purposes when estimating consolidation settlements of soft clay deposits) has shortcomings that it cannot simulate real stress states and deformation behaviors of soils in case that in-situ loading and deformation conditions are not 1-dimensional. In this study, the stress path method, reflecting various probable stress paths, was employed to normally - consolidated kaolinite samples by using automated triaxial testing device which can control stress paths automatically. From this experimental study, elastic, consolidation, secondary compression and pore pressure development - dissipation behaviors under various stress paths were analyzed and deformation characteristics of soft clays, which can be the basis of rational estimation of settlements, were studied. Also by comparing results of stress path tests with those of 1-dimensional consolidation tests, limitations and problems of conventional methods were clarified.
This paper presents the interrelationship between undrained static and cyclic shear behavior. Laboratory works were performed through the undralned static and cyclic triaxial test using Nak-Dong River sand. And static triaxial test involved the triaxial extension test for comparison with cyclic shear behavior Cyclic triaxial test was performed with a variety of combination conditions of initial static shear stress $(q_{st})$ and cyclic stress $(q_{cy})$. In this result, the stress path of cyclic shear behavior was correspondent with static shear behavior passing the critical stress ratio (CSR) line because of the development of flow deformation. After that, a failure occurred according to failure line (FL) of static shear behavior. The stress path of cyclic shear behavior showed essentially the same with static shear behavior, although it appears a little different in test method.
Purpose: This study was conducted to test a path model for the factors related to undergraduate nursing students' clinical practicum stress, based on Lazarus and Folkman's stress-coping model. Methods: This study utilized a path analysis design. A total of 235 undergraduate nursing students participated in this study. The variables in the hypothetical path model consisted of clinical practicum, emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, Nun-chi, and nursing professionalism. We tested the fit of the hypothetical path model using SPSS/WIN 23.0 and AMOS 22.0. Results: The final model fit demonstrated a satisfactory statistical acceptance level: goodness-of-fit-index=.98, adjusted goodness-of-fit-index=.91, comparative fit index=.98, normed fit index=.95, Tucker-Lewis index=.92, and root mean square error of approximation=.06. Self-efficacy (${\beta}=-.22$, p=.003) and Nun-chi behavior (${\beta}=-.17$, p=.024) were reported as significant factors affecting clinical practicum stress, explaining 10.2% of the variance. Nursing professionalism (${\beta}=.20$, p=.006) and self-efficacy (${\beta}=.45$, p<.001) had direct effects on emotional intelligence, explaining 45.9% of the variance. Self-efficacy had indirect effects on Nun-chi understanding (${\beta}=.20$, p<.001) and Nun-chi behavior (${\beta}=.09$, p=.005) through emotional intelligence. Nursing professionalism had indirect effects on Nun-chi understanding (${\beta}=.09$, p=.005) and Nun-chi behavior (${\beta}=.09$, p=.005) through emotional intelligence. The variables for self-efficacy and nursing professionalism explained 29.1% of the Nun-chi understanding and 18.2% of the Nun-chi behavior, respectively. Conclusion: In undergraduate nursing education, it is important to identify and manage factors that affect clinical practicum stress. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of Nun-chi, self-efficacy, emotional intelligence, and nursing professionalism in the development of an educational strategy for undergraduate nursing students.
Torsion shear tests under various stress paths were performed to study the behavior of sand during large stress reversal. The stress paths can be classified into the clockwise and the counterclockwise according to torque applied to specimen, and the directions of plastic strain incremental on the stress paths including large stress reversal are compared with the direction of stress state and stress incremental. From test results, the isotropic hardening theory using the principle of St. Venant desirably showed that direction of plastic strain incremental coincided with stress state on primary loading part and nearby failure point, but it might result in a rough approximation on part of unloading and reloading by stress reversal.
This study investigated the influence of socio-environmental variables and cognitive variables on adolescent depression. Subjects were 494 middle and high school students of Deagu. The instrument was a self-report questionnaire; data were analyzed by t-test, stepwise multiple regression and path analysis. Among Socio-environmental variables, social support variables had a stronger effect on depression than stress. Among cognitive variables, automatic thought had a stronger effect on depression than cognitive distortion and socio-environmental variables. In path analysis, social support had a direct effect on cognitive distortion and automatic thought. Automatic thought served as a mediater of the relation between social support and depression. Although adolescent stress resulted in high depression, its effect on depression varied with the level of perceived social support.
