Relationship between Stress Level and Reworks for Construction Professionals

  • This paper presents a study investigating the relationship between stress level and reworks for construction professionals. As employees' work-life balance (WLB) becomes more important nowadays, controlling the level of stress in the workplace becomes more important as occupational stress has negative impacts on WLB. Reworks can be one severe occupational stressor as people suffer from stress when they need to redo their works. This study hypothesizes that there is a positive correlation between reworks and level of stress, meaning that people tend to show high level of stress when they need to redo their works. The hypothesis will be tested by checking the stress level when engineers redo their works because of changes or errors. An electroencephalography (EEG) sensor will be used to measure the stress level of engineers when they redo their works. For more accurate measure of stress, the stress level will also be measured by the galvanic skin response (GSR). This experiment is expected to prove that rework process is a severe stressor for construction professionals, which will contribute to lower productivity and poorer WLB. The finding will emphasize the importance of managing reworks in the construction industry, which will eventually help construction managers to control the level of employees' stress successfully.

콜센터 고객 상담원의 직무 특성에 따른 직무 스트레스 비교 분석 (Comparision of Job Stress according to Job-Related Properties in Call Center Employees)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze factors related to the job stress experienced by call center employees at public institutions, so as to provide basic data to relieve work-related stress and enhance the job satisfaction of such employees. To promote objectivity and representation, the study was conducted by way of survey, the subjects being call center employees in 8 public institutions that operate call centers, which are located in the Busan and Seoul areas. Of the 240 surveys distributed, 196 were collected and 173 of those were used for analysis after eliminating 25 with insufficient responses. The results of this study are as follows. First, in terms of general properties, it was determined that employees with higher levels of education and families to support had greater job stress. second, in terms of job-related properties, employees who were unsatisfied with the job, HR policies, and their relationship with superiors and/or colleagues had greater job stress. In terms of the group that was satisfied compared with the group that was unsatisfied with the job, HR policies, and their relationship with superiors and/or colleagues, regular workers had less job stress than irregular workers.

응급구조사의 자아존중감, 직무스트레스가 직무만족도에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Self-Esteem and Job Stress on Job Satisfaction of the Emergency Medical Technicians)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate self-esteem and job stress which might influence job satisfaction of the emergency medical technicians. The partcipants were 135 emergency medical technicians in hospital. Data were collected from August 15 to September 10, 2009. The collected data was analyzed with the SPSS win 15.0 version. The average self-esteem score was 3.47, job stress 3.16, job satisfaction 3.14. The score for job satisfaction. showed significant difference motivation of desire(F=3.169, p=.016) and region(F=3.414, p=.011). Self-esteem had significant positive correlation to job satisfaction(r=.296, p=.000). Job stress had significant negative correlation to job satisfaction(r=-.327, p=.000). Self-esteem and job stress were significant predictor and accounted for 16% of the variance in job satisfaction of the emergency medical technicians. Future job satisfaction management program for the emergency medical technicians should be considered their self-esteem and job stress.

여중생의 도형 심리 유형에 따른 스트레스 대처와 자아 정체성에 관한 연구 (A study on the Stress Management & Ego identity of female middle school students according to Their Graphic types)

  • 본 연구는 여중생의 도형 심리 유형에 따른 스트레스 대처와 자아 정체성에 관한 연구로 대도시 여중생 507명을 대상으로, 도형심리유형을 나타내는 그림을 그린 후 도형분석 상담 전문가가 분석하고, 스트레스 대처, 자아정체성 설문을 작성하였다. 이를 SPSS WIN 18.0을 사용하여 빈도분석, ANOVA와 Duncan 사후검정, t-test로 분석하였다. O(다혈질)이 60%로 구성, 자아정체성의 "자기수용"이 S(우울질)과 ${\triangle}$(담즙질)에 비해 유의하게 높고(p=.041), ${\triangle}$(담즙질)은 스트레스 대처 양식의 "자기비난"을 O(다혈질)에 비해 유의하게 높게(p=.025) "일탈행동"을 O(다혈질), S(우울질), ${\Box}$(점액질)에 비해 유의하게 높게 사용하였다(p=.017). 또한 자아정체성이 높은 경우, 외향적인 성격, 스트레스를 잘 대처하고 해소하는 방법이 있는 경우에 긍정적인 스트레스 대처 양식을 유의하게 사용하는 것으로 나타났다. 다양한 집단에서 도형 심리 유형 파악을 활용할 것과 중학생의 자아정체성 확립을 위한 방법 모색을 위한 추후 연구를 제언한다.

  • 최근, 조직 내 중앙집중식 콘텐츠관리 체계 구축을 위한 기술적 투자가 많아지고 있다. 하지만, 높은 품질의 기술 도입은 역으로 구성원들의 기술 스트레스를 발생시켜 부정적 행동을 발생시킬 가능성이 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 기업콘텐츠관리시스템 관련 기술 스트레스의 지속적 이용 의도에 미치는 부정적 영향을 제시하고, 기술 스트레스 완화 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 본 연구는 콘텐츠관리 기술을 도입한 조직의 구성원에게 설문하였으며, 구조방정식모델링을 적용하여 가설 검증을 하였다. 분석 결과 기업콘텐츠관리시스템 관련 기술 과부하와 복잡성이 지속적 이용 의도를 감소시켰지만, 조직 내 사내 커뮤니케이션 활동이 기술 스트레스를 완화시켰으며, 개인의 업무-기술 적합성이 기술 스트레스와 지속적 이용 의도에 대한 조절 효과를 가지는 것을 확인하였다. 연구는 콘텐츠관리시스템의 이용에 있어 부정적 영향을 미치는 측면을 최소화하기 위한 조직 차원의 노력 요인을 제시한 측면에서 시사점을 가진다.

간호교육 개선을 위한 간호대학생의 스트레스 관련 문헌 분석 (A Review Study on Nursing Students' Stress for Improvement of Nursing Education)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review articles and theses on Korean nursing students' stress, identifying overall research trends regarding such stress and suggesting strategies for stress management and nursing education system. Methods: The subjects for this study were 31 articles selected from three databases according to specific inclusion criteria. Results: Twenty-seven articles described survey research and four articles reported on experiments. Twenty-two studies related to stress from clinical practice among nursing students. Thirty-one articles reported on 40 regions and 44 colleges. Seventeen types of tools were used to measure nursing students' stress. The reported reliability of tools ranged from .76 to .96, and the mean score for nursing students' stress fell between 1.98 and 3.95. Conclusion: The findings from this review article indicate that nursing students exhibit different levels of stress as a result of school. Thus, they must learn to cope with stress to support their physical and psychological health. Moreover, finding ways to help student nurses handle job-related stress will require research related to the overall school, the curriculum, learning, and the life of nursing students, as well as stress intervention.

보건행정전공 대학생의 취업스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting Job Finding Stress of University Students Majoring Public Health Administration)

  • The present study aims to determine the grade and factors of the effects that influence the stress related to job finding of the university students majoring public health administration. The data was collected for 4days from June 7, 2011. Among a total of 360 cases of the questionaries, only 324 cases were used. To data were analyzed by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and regression using PASW statistics 18.0. From the analyses, it was found that school environment and study-related stress were some of major causes for stress in job finding. There was statistically significant difference in the sub-areas of job finding-related stress by gender, age, type of school, school grade, whether or not the graduating class and satisfaction with the major selected. There was statistically significant difference among the sub-areas of job finding-related stress such as academic achievements, characters, and school and family environments and whether in graduating class of collegians and their satisfaction with the major they chose turned out to exercise statistically significant impact upon the stress of the students majoring public health administration.

조직공정성 인지도와 직무스트레스의 관계 및 신뢰의 조절효과 (The relationship between perceived organizational justice and job stress, and the moderating effect of trust)

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between perceived organizational justice(distributive justice, procedural justice, interactional justice) and job stress, and the moderating effect of trust(organizational trust and superior trust). Based on the responses from 176 employees, the results of multiple regression analysis appeared as follow; 1) Distributive justice and interactional justice effect negatively on job stress, but procedural justice does not effect on job stress. 2) While organizational trust and superior trust are stronger, interactional justice effect less negatively on job stress. When interactional justice is higher, job stress is lower in high trust level than in low trust level.

호텔.패밀리 레스토랑 조리사의 직무 스트레스와 이직 의도 연구 (A Study on Job Stress and Turnover Intention of Hotel and Family Restaurant Cooks)

  • If a licensed cook of a special-deluxe hotel restaurant and n family restaurant receives stress psychologically and physically, it will influence the interaction with customers who eat their food. Job stress is known to affect the kitchen operation and cause negative formation of interior and exterior customer management. This study wishes to present the method that can minimize the negative effect caused by stress, leading to an elevation of service quality that is offered to customers by removing those factors related to the stress of a licensed cook. This study established the range of targets to compare the cooks of super-deluxe hotel restaurants and those of family restaurants and to apply result of this research to whole licensed cooks is considered to have some limitations. Therefore, estimating job stress and turnover intention of general licensed cooks through comparison with tourist hotels and general restaurants should be significant hereafter.

부부간의 의사소통 효육성과 스트레스 인지수준 (The Efficiency of the Interspouse Communication and the Level of Stress Recognition)

  • The purposes of this research were to find out general trends of the efficiency of the interspouse communication and the level of stress recognition, to estimate the differences of the efficiency of communication and the level of stress recognition according to socio-demographic, communication variables, and to analyze correlations between stress recognition and communication efficiency. The subjects of this study were 220 couples in Kwang-ju. The major results were as follow; 1) The level of wives' stress recognition was higher than husbands' and the level of interspouse communication efficiency was median. 2) Communication efficiency showed significant differences according to number of children, the duration of marriage in wives. The level of stress recognition showed significant differences according to the hours they spend in daily communication, the typeds of communication, the satisfaction of communication in both groups of husbands and wives. 3) Marital communication efficiency was negatively correlated with the level of stress recognition in couples.
