  • The annals of Joseon Dynasty has been known as one of the UNESCO's Memory of the World Heritage. The annals of Joseon Dynasty composed with two kind of books, wax coated book and non coated book. Especially the waxed book have been severely damaged by various reason. For the safety preservation of the annals of Joseon Dynasty waxed book, the thermal ageing mechanism of beeswax coated Hanji paper has been evaluated. The weight loss of waxed Hanji were rapidly increased until 30 days in three temperatures(105, 120 & $150^{\circ}C$) and stabilized after 30 days. The acid value and relative intensity of carbonyl groups in beeswax were increased with strong conditions. This means that the deterioration of beeswax should be progressed with oxidizing reaction. The physical strength and the crystallinity of dewaxed Hanji were decreased with ageing time.

  • Anaerobic ammonium oxidation(ANAMMOX) is a novel process fur treatment of piggery waste with strong nitrogen. In this study, we investigated acid fermentation of organic matter, denitrificatiot reduction of sulfur compounds and P crystalization by hydroxyapatite during the treatment of wastewater with high strength of ammonium and organic matters by ANAMMOX process. Also, functions of hydroxylamine and hydrazine as intermedeates of ANAMMOX process were tested. This study reveals that various complex-reactions with anaerobic ammonium oxidation of piggery waste are happened and hydroxylamine and hydrazine play an important role in ANAMMOX reaction.

  • The interfacial chemical behavior, lattice exchange and dissolution, of $FeS_{(S)}$ as one of the important sulfide minerals was studied. Emphases were made on the surface characterization of hydrous $FeS_{(S)}$, the lattice exchange of Cu(II) and $FeS_{(S)}$, and its effect on the dissolution of $FeS_{(S)}$, and also affect some organic ligands on that of both Cu(II) and $FeS_{(S)}$. Cu(II) which has lower sulfide solubility in water than $FeS_{(S)}$ undergoes the lattice exchange reaction when Cu(II) ion contacts $FeS_{(S)}$ in the aqueous phase. For heavy metals which have higher sulfide solubilities in water than $FeS_{(S)}$, these metal ions were adsorbed on the surface of $FeS_{(S)}$. Such a reaction was interpreted by the solid solution formation theory. Phthalic acid(a weak chelate agent) and EDTA(a strong chelate agent) were used to demonstrate the effect of organic lignads on the lattice exchange reaction between Cu(II) and $FeS_{(S)}$. The $pH_{zpc}$ of $FeS_{(S)}$ is 7 and the effect of ionic strength is not showed. It can be expected that phthalic acid has little effect on the lattice exchange reaction between Cu(II) and $FeS_{(S)}$. whereas EDTA has very decreased the removal of Cu(II) and $FeS_{(S)}$. This study shows that stability of sulfide sediments was predicted by its solubility. The pH control of the alkaline-neutralization process to treat heavy metal in wastewater treatment process did not needed. Thereby, it was regarded as an optimal process which could apply to examine a long term stability of marshland closely in the treatment of heavy metal in wastewater released from a disussed mine.

  • QDs-LEDs(quantum dot light emitting device) should contain well-organized arrays of QDs on an electron transport layer. Thin films of CdSe/ZnS core-shell QDs were successfully fabricated on $TiO_2$ substrates by using PDMS stamp and micro contact printing method. 2-Carboxyethylphosphonic acid(CAPO) and 1,6-hexanedithiol(HDT) were employed as molecular linkers in assembling CdSe/ZnS core-shell QDs with high-density and uniform array. The CAPO increased the binding strength between the QDs and the substrates, and the HDT induced the strong inter-particle attractions of assembled QDs. The assembling properties of QDs thin films were characterized by SEM, AFM, optical microscope and photoluminescence spectroscope(PL).

  • In this study, two types of catalysts were prepared via conventional metal supporting method and encapsulation of metal nanoparticles in the polyelectrolyte multilayers constructed on support. The resulting catalysts were applied to the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide, and the effect of catalyst preparation method on the catalyst life as well as hydrogen peroxide productivity was investigated. The catalytic activity was strongly dependent upon the acid strength of support regardless of the catalyst preparation methods and HBEA (SAR=25) with strong acidity was superior to other supports to promote the reaction. In the case of metal supported catalyst, while hydrogen peroxide productivity was higher than that of polyelectrolyte multilayered counterpart, the reaction performance was sharply decreased during catalyst recycling due to the metal leaching. On the other hand, construction of polyelectrolyte multilayers on support weakened the influence of acid support on the reaction medium and therefore resulted in the decrease of catalytic activity and the increase of hydrogen peroxide decomposition as well. It is noted, however, that the catalytic activity was maintained after 5 recycles, which suggests that the introduction of polyelectrolyte multilayers on the support is very effective to suppress the unfavorable metal leaching phenomenon during a reaction.

  • The catalytic properties of large pore zeolite (mordenite, beta, and Y) with 12-membered rings were comparatively evaluated in the synthesis of diethylamines from ethanol amination. The number of strong acid sites, which obviously promoted the formation of mono- and diethylamines, was decreased with the increase of Si/Al ratio of the zeolites that were used. H-beta and H-Y zeolites with multidimensional pore channels favorably formed diethylether by the dimerization of ethanol, due to their large cage volumes and low acid strength. On the other hand, H-mordenite which has one dimensional straight channel was shown to be suitable for the formation of mono- and diethylamine which are well known as the useful intermediates of fine chemicals.

  • Epoxy composites filled with natural zeolite was prepared to investigate the effects of silane coupling agent, ${\gamma}$-APS (${\gamma}$-aminopropyltriethoxysilane)on the surface free energy, tensile properties and interfacial morphology. The value of Lifshitz-van der Waals component, ${\gamma}{\frac{LW}{SV}}$ for polar was $19.22mJ/m^2$ and increased, while that of Lewis acid-base component, ${\gamma}{\frac{AB}{SV}}$ for polar was $15.27mJ/m^2$ and decreased with the increasing content of ${\gamma}$-APS treatment. It is due that the surface of the zeolite is more coated by hydrophobic of alkyl group than hydrophilic amine or hydroxyl group. The tensile strength and Young's modulus of epoxy system were improved by the treatment with ${\gamma}$-APS due to the strong interface bonding, which was confirmed by SEM.

  • We published that bacterial heme was over-produced in a recombinant Corynebacterium glutamicum expressing 5-aminolevulinic acid synthase ($hemA^+$) under control of a constitutive promoter ($P_{180}$) and the heme-producing C. glutamicum had commercial potentials; as an iron feed additive for swine and as a preservative for lactic acid bacteria. To enhance the heme production, the $hemA^+$ gene was expressed under controls of various promoters in the recombinant C. glutamicum. The $hemA^+$ expression by $P_{gapA}$ (a constitutive glycolytic promoter of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) led 75% increase of heme production while the expression by $P_{H36}$ (a constitutive, very strong synthetic promoter) resulted in 50% decrease compared with the control ($hemA^+$ expression by $P_{180}$ constitutive promoter). The $hemA^+$ expression by a late log-phase activating $P_{sod}$ (an oxidative-stress responding promoter of superoxide dismutase) led 50% greater heme production than the control. The $hemA^+$ expression led by a heat-shock responding chaperone promoter ($P_{dnaK}$) resulted in 121% increase of heme production at the optimized heat-shock conditions. The promoter strength and induction phase are discussed based on the results for the heme production at an industrial scale.

  • Sports activities, including playing tennis, are popular with many people. As this industry has become more professionalized, investors and those involved in sports are sure to pay attention to any tool that improves athletes' performance Tennis requires perfect coordination between hands, eyes, and the whole body. Consequently, to perform long-term sports, athletes must have enough muscle strength, flexibility, and endurance. Tennis rackets with new frames were manufactured because tennis players' performance depends on their rackets. These rackets are distinguished by their lighter weight. Composite rackets are available in many types, most of which are made from the latest composite materials. During physical exercise with a tennis racket, nanocomposite materials have a significant effect on reducing injuries. Materials as strong as graphite and thermoplastic can be used to produce these composites that include both fiber and filament. Polyamide is a thermoplastic typically used in composites as a matrix. In today's manufacturing process, materials are made more flexible, structurally more vital, and lighter. This paper discusses the production, testing, and structural analysis of a new polyamide/Multi-walled carbon nanotube nanocomposite. This polyamide can be a suitable substitute for other composite materials in the tennis racket frame. By compression polymerization, polyamide was synthesized. The functionalization of Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) was achieved using sulfuric acid and nitric acid, followed by ultrasonic preparation of nanocomposite materials with weight percentages of 5, 10, and 15. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) confirmed a synthesized nanocomposite structure. Nanocomposites were tested for thermal resistance using the simultaneous thermal analysis (DTA-TG) method. scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis was used to determine pores' size, structure, and surface area. An X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) analysis was used to determine their amorphous nature.

  • Pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) based on 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA)/acrylic acid (AA) copolymer was synthesized using different photoinitiators. Results showed that PSA with Irgacure$^{(R)}$651 (benzyldimethylketal) and Irgacure$^{(R)}$184(1-hydroxy-cyclohexylphenyl ketone) proved to be good for adhesion properties. This may be attributed to strong absorption near 350 nm wavelength and also high solubility in monomer mixtures. The addition of Irgacure$^{(R)}$819, bisacylphosphine oxides as a photoinitiator caused cohesive failure with high loading in a peel test owing to the additional radical formation. It is assumed that the insoluble photoinitiator reacts with oxygene, which may act as a hydrogen donor.
