Associations Between Three Polymorphisms in the Interleukin-4 Receptor Gene and Risk of Cancer: a Meta-analysis

Interleukin-4 receptor (IL-4R) gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are implicated in cancer development. However, results from the published reports have remained inconclusive. The objective of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis investigating the association between polymorphisms in IL-4R gene and cancer risk. Pubmed, EMBASE and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were searched for case-control studies published up to October 30, 2012 that investigated IL-4R polymorphisms and cancer risk. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to evaluate the strength of any associations. Three IL-4R polymorphisms (Q576R, rs1801275; I75V, rs1805010; S503P, rs1805015) in 21 case-control studies were analyzed. Our meta-analysis indicated that these three polymorphisms are not associated with cancer risk when all studies were pooled together. In the subgroup analysis by tumor site, the results showed that Q576R G allele carriers were associated with a significantly decreased cervical cancer risk (recessive model: OR = 0.77, 95%CI = 0.60-0.98; homozygote comparison: OR = 0.76, 95%CI = 0.58-0.98). I75V G allele carriers were associated with a decreased risk of renal cancer (dominant model = 0.71, 95%CI = 0.57-0.89, heterozygote comparison: OR = 0.69, 95%CI = 0.55-0.87). When stratified by ethnicity, Q576R G allele carriers were associated with a decreased cancer risk in Caucasians (dominant model: OR = 0.90, 95%CI = 0.83-0.98; heterozygote comparison: OR = 0.89, 95%CI = 0.82-0.98). I75V G allele carriers were associated with a decreased cancer risk in Asians (heterozygote comparison: OR = 0.76, 95%CI = 0.62-0.94). S503P C allele carriers were also associated with a decreased cancer risk in Asians (CC VS TT: OR = 0.29, 95%CI = 0.08-0.99). Our results suggest that Q576R, I75V and S503P may be associated with a decreased cancer risk for certain types of cancers and in some specific ethnic groups. Future case-control studies with large sample size are needed to evaluate these associations in detail.
기업들은 CRM을 도입하기에 앞서, 기업의 특성과 상황을 분석하고 CRM 비전을 명확히 수립해야 한다. 그리고 장기적인 안목을 가지고 각 기업에 가장 적합한 CRM을 도입하기 위한 요소기술을 파악하고 이들을 최적화해야 한다. 또한, 기존의 기업들이 일상적으로 전개하는 마케팅 활동에 CRM의 개념을 접목한 구축 전략이 필요하며, 이러한 구축 전략에 따라 단계적으로 투자 효과가 가장 큰 업무 프로세스를 개선하고, 이를 위한 시스템 투자를 점진적으로 전개하는 정보시스템 전략이 조화를 이루어야 한다. 첫 째, 고객 욕구의 파악과 고객니즈의 이해를 통해 고객생애가치(LTV)를 극대화하고, 고객감동을 통한 기업의 목적을 달성하고 그를 통한 기업가치를 높여 나가는 것이 중요하다는 것을 인식하였다. 둘 째, CRM을 도입함에 있어 동반되어야 하는 부분은 바로 이러한 조직의 변화, 업무프로세스의 변화, 고객접촉 채널의 변화이며, 경영층의 올바른 이해와 관심이 이뤄졌을 때 성공적으로 비즈니스에 접목될 수 있음을 파악했다. 셋 째, 국내기업의 성공적인 구축사례가 많지 않은 현실이고, 기업들이 시스템 구축에 성공했다는 것도 단지 CRM 전개를 위한 솔루션을 구축했다는 의미에 불과하므로 향후 장기적인 안목으로 더 지켜보는 것이 필요하며 CRM구축에 있어서의 산업별 구축사례가 좀 더 체계적으로 접근되어야 할 것으로 보인다. 넷 째, CRM은 이제 대기업들만의 전유물이 아니며 중소규모의 기업들에게도 필요한 시대가 되었다는 점이다. 스위스의 소규모점포 상인들도 사업체 규모에 맞는 CRM을 성공적으로 펼쳤던 사례가 있었음을 교훈 삼아서 국내 중소기업들도 회사의 실정에 맞는 CRM모델을 개발하고 고객과의 관계 유지를 통하여 사업을 전개하여야 할 필요가 커진 것이다. 다섯 째, CRM 업무프로세스를 정착함에 있어 선진기업의 CRM 시스템 모델을 그대로 적용하기 보다는 도입회사의 실정에 맞는 모델로 변환 또는 응용하는 것이 중요하다는 점이다. 즉, 도입회사 각각의 특성과 개성을 살린 CRM프로그램으로 개발하여, 나만의 장점을 최대로 부각시킬 수 있는 CRM솔루션으로 정착하여야 할 것이다.
With the advent of communication technologies including electronic collaborative tools and conferencing systems provided over the Internet, virtual collaboration is becoming increasingly common in organizations. Virtual collaboration refers to an environment in which the people working together are interdependent in their tasks, share responsibility for outcomes, are geographically dispersed, and rely on mediated rather than face-to face, communication to produce an outcome. Research suggests that new sets of individual skill, knowledge, and ability (SKAs) are required to perform effectively in today's virtualized workplace, which is labeled as individual virtual competence. It is also argued that use of online social networking sites may influence not only individuals' daily lives but also their capability to manage their work-related relationships in organizations, which in turn leads to better performance. The existing research regarding (1) the relationship between virtual competence and task performance and (2) the relationship between online networking and task performance has been conducted based on different theoretical perspectives so that little is known about how online social networking and virtual competence interplay to predict individuals' task performance. To fill this gap, this study raises the following research questions: (1) What is the individual virtual competence required for better adjustment to the virtual collaboration environment? (2) How does online networking via diverse social network service sites influence individuals' task performance in organizations? (3) How do the joint effects of individual virtual competence and online networking influence task performance? To address these research questions, we first draw on the prior literature and derive four dimensions of individual virtual competence that are related with an individual's self-concept, knowledge and ability. Computer self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to use computer technology broadly. Remotework self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to work and perform joint tasks with others in virtual settings. Virtual media skill is defined as the degree of confidence of individuals to function in their work role without face-to-face interactions. Virtual social skill is an individual's skill level in using technologies to communicate in virtual settings to their full potential. It should be noted that the concept of virtual social skill is different from the self-efficacy and captures an individual's cognition-based ability to build social relationships with others in virtual settings. Next, we discuss how online networking influences both individual virtual competence and task performance based on the social network theory and the social learning theory. We argue that online networking may enhance individuals' capability in expanding their social networks with low costs. We also argue that online networking may enable individuals to learn the necessary skills regarding how they use technological functions, communicate with others, and share information and make social relations using the technical functions provided by electronic media, consequently increasing individual virtual competence. To examine the relationships among online networking, virtual competence, and task performance, we developed research models (the mediation, interaction, and additive models, respectively) by integrating the social network theory and the social learning theory. Using data from 112 employees of a virtualized company, we tested the proposed research models. The results of analysis partly support the mediation model in that online social networking positively influences individuals' computer self-efficacy, virtual social skill, and virtual media skill, which are key predictors of individuals' task performance. Furthermore, the results of the analysis partly support the interaction model in that the level of remotework self-efficacy moderates the relationship between online social networking and task performance. The results paint a picture of people adjusting to virtual collaboration that constrains and enables their task performance. This study contributes to research and practice. First, we suggest a shift of research focus to the individual level when examining virtual phenomena and theorize that online social networking can enhance individual virtual competence in some aspects. Second, we replicate and advance the prior competence literature by linking each component of virtual competence and objective task performance. The results of this study provide useful insights into how human resource responsibilities assess employees' weakness and strength when they organize virtualized groups or projects. Furthermore, it provides managers with insights into the kinds of development or training programs that they can engage in with their employees to advance their ability to undertake virtual work.
지구 온난화에 따른 북극해의 해빙면적이 감소하면서, 북극해를 통한 선박 운항의 상용화 문제가 지속적으로 주목받고 있다. 특히 아시아와 유럽을 있는 북동항로의 경우, 기존의 수에즈항로에 비해 거리적으로 훨씬 짧음에 따라, 전통적인 항로를 대체할 항로로 그 경제성에 대한 많은 선행연구들이 진행되고 있으며, 많은 연구들이 경제성에 긍정적인 결과를 내놓고 있다. 하지만, 2013년부터 2019년까지의 추세를 보았을때, 실질적으로 북동항로를 통과한 화물(Transit Cargo)의 증가는 크게 이루어지지 않았다. 이러한 상황에서 본 연구는 외항선사 중 외국 선사 2곳과, 국적 선사 2곳의 임원을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰와, 인터뷰의 결과를 따른 4가지 상위기준으로 컨테이너 운송의 내부적 제약요인, 외부적 제약요인 그리고 외항선사의 내부 조직의 목표와 비전, 북극해항로 이용을 통한 경제성을 선정하였고, 각 상위기준 별 하위기준을 4~5가지로 추출하여 총 17가지 하위기준의 중요도를 계층분석법으로 실증하였다. 상위기준의 첫째는 선사의 비전과 목표로 선사가 신 시장을 창출하는데 북극의 가치와, 요구되는 선사의 의지 및 역량을 평가하는 내부적 강점이다. 둘째, 선사의 북극해항로 진출에 관련한 내부 제약성으로 북극해항로에 진출에 대한 부정적 요인과 선사의 역량적 한계를 유발하는 내부적 약점을 의미한다. 셋째, 북극해항로 이용으로 인한 경제성으로 북극해의 미래 경제적 가치와 북극해 연안국으로부터 북극해 및 북극 진출과 개발과 관련한 협력으로 선사에게 제공되는 외부적 기회 요인이다. 마지막으로 북극해항로의 외부제한성으로 북극해항로 이용하기까지 해결되어야 할 외부적 선결 과제로 기상조건과 연안국의 통항정책, 그리고 북극해 주변국의 북극해항로 관심의 증대로 인한 새로운 경쟁의 장이 생성될 가능성을 의미한다. 분석의 결과로 외국적 외항선사와 국적 외항선사로 구분하여 북극해항로 진출에 관한 국내외 외항선사 상호 간 북극해항로 진출에 관한 결정요인에 대한 인식차이를 파악하였다. 이러한 결과로 북극해항로를 운송 상의 제약점, 진출 기회요인에 관한 각 선사별 견해와 함의를 이끌어냈으며, 외항선사의 북극해 진출과 북극해운송의 원활한 이용을 위해 선사들의 대응과, 협력 및 원활한 통항을 위하여 정부 간의 협력의 필요성을 제시하였다.

The supply chain management (SCM) systems have emerged as strong managerial tools for manufacturing firms in enhancing competitive strength. Despite of large investments in the SCM systems, many companies are not fully realizing the promised benefits from the systems. A review of literature on adoption, implementation and success factor of IOS (inter-organization systems), EDI (electronic data interchange) systems, shows that this issue has been examined from multiple theoretic perspectives. And many researchers have attempted to identify the factors which influence the success of system implementation. However, the existing studies have two drawbacks in revealing the determinants of systems implementation success. First, previous researches raise questions as to the appropriateness of research subjects selected. Most SCM systems are operating in the form of private industrial networks, where the participants of the systems consist of two distinct groups: focus companies and vendors. The focus companies are the primary actors in developing and operating the systems, while vendors are passive participants which are connected to the system in order to supply raw materials and parts to the focus companies. Under the circumstance, there are three ways in selecting the research subjects; focus companies only, vendors only, or two parties grouped together. It is hard to find researches that use the focus companies exclusively as the subjects probably due to the insufficient sample size for statistic analysis. Most researches have been conducted using the data collected from both groups. We argue that the SCM success factors cannot be correctly indentified in this case. The focus companies and the vendors are in different positions in many areas regarding the system implementation: firm size, managerial resources, bargaining power, organizational maturity, and etc. There are no obvious reasons to believe that the success factors of the two groups are identical. Grouping the two groups also raises questions on measuring the system success. The benefits from utilizing the systems may not be commonly distributed to the two groups. One group's benefits might be realized at the expenses of the other group considering the situation where vendors participating in SCM systems are under continuous pressures from the focus companies with respect to prices, quality, and delivery time. Therefore, by combining the system outcomes of both groups we cannot measure the system benefits obtained by each group correctly. Second, the measures of system success adopted in the previous researches have shortcoming in measuring the SCM success. User satisfaction, system utilization, and user attitudes toward the systems are most commonly used success measures in the existing studies. These measures have been developed as proxy variables in the studies of decision support systems (DSS) where the contribution of the systems to the organization performance is very difficult to measure. Unlike the DSS, the SCM systems have more specific goals, such as cost saving, inventory reduction, quality improvement, rapid time, and higher customer service. We maintain that more specific measures can be developed instead of proxy variables in order to measure the system benefits correctly. The purpose of this study is to find the determinants of SCM systems success in the perspective of vendor companies. In developing the research model, we have focused on selecting the success factors appropriate for the vendors through reviewing past researches and on developing more accurate success measures. The variables can be classified into following: technological, organizational, and environmental factors on the basis of TOE (Technology-Organization-Environment) framework. The model consists of three independent variables (competition intensity, top management support, and information system maturity), one mediating variable (collaboration), one moderating variable (government support), and a dependent variable (system success). The systems success measures have been developed to reflect the operational benefits of the SCM systems; improvement in planning and analysis capabilities, faster throughput, cost reduction, task integration, and improved product and customer service. The model has been validated using the survey data collected from 122 vendors participating in the SCM systems in Korea. To test for mediation, one should estimate the hierarchical regression analysis on the collaboration. And moderating effect analysis should estimate the moderated multiple regression, examines the effect of the government support. The result shows that information system maturity and top management support are the most important determinants of SCM system success. Supply chain technologies that standardize data formats and enhance information sharing may be adopted by supply chain leader organization because of the influence of focal company in the private industrial networks in order to streamline transactions and improve inter-organization communication. Specially, the need to develop and sustain an information system maturity will provide the focus and purpose to successfully overcome information system obstacles and resistance to innovation diffusion within the supply chain network organization. The support of top management will help focus efforts toward the realization of inter-organizational benefits and lend credibility to functional managers responsible for its implementation. The active involvement, vision, and direction of high level executives provide the impetus needed to sustain the implementation of SCM. The quality of collaboration relationships also is positively related to outcome variable. Collaboration variable is found to have a mediation effect between on influencing factors and implementation success. Higher levels of inter-organizational collaboration behaviors such as shared planning and flexibility in coordinating activities were found to be strongly linked to the vendors trust in the supply chain network. Government support moderates the effect of the IS maturity, competitive intensity, top management support on collaboration and implementation success of SCM. In general, the vendor companies face substantially greater risks in SCM implementation than the larger companies do because of severe constraints on financial and human resources and limited education on SCM systems. Besides resources, Vendors generally lack computer experience and do not have sufficient internal SCM expertise. For these reasons, government supports may establish requirements for firms doing business with the government or provide incentives to adopt, implementation SCM or practices. Government support provides significant improvements in implementation success of SCM when IS maturity, competitive intensity, top management support and collaboration are low. The environmental characteristic of competition intensity has no direct effect on vendor perspective of SCM system success. But, vendors facing above average competition intensity will have a greater need for changing technology. This suggests that companies trying to implement SCM systems should set up compatible supply chain networks and a high-quality collaboration relationship for implementation and performance.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. Common genetic variation Q192R in the paraoxonase 1 (PON1) gene has been considered to be implicated in the development of many cancers. Nevertheless, results from the related studies were inconsistent. To elucidate the association, we performed a meta-analysis for 8,112 cases and 10,037 controls from 32 published case-control studies. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the strength of the association by STATA 12.0 software. Overall, we revealed that the PON1-192R allele was associated with a reduced risk of the overall cancers. Moreover, in the stratified analysis by cancer types (breast cancer, prostate cancer, brain cancer etc.), the results showed that PON1-192R allele was associated with a decreased risk in breast cancer (R vs Q: OR=0.605, 95% CI=0.378-0.967,
지구의 기후 변화를 유도하고 제어하는 가장 중요한 역할을 하는 것은 해양의 해류이다. 황해는 수심이 동해에 비해 매우 얕고, 다양한 바람과 조류, 강물의 유입, 동중국해에서의 해수 유입 등 외력의 영향으로 해수의 순환과 해류가 상당히 복잡하다. 황해난류는 겨울철 황해의 대표적인 해류로서 겨울철 황해와 동중국해 바람 변동성과 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 황해의 수온과 염분 분포에 큰 영향을 주어서 중등학교 교과서에서 중요하게 다루어질 필요성이 있다. 2015 개정 교육과정 기반 중등학교 과학 및 지구과학 교과서의 황해난류와 관련된 내용을 분석하였다. 또한 해류의 시간 변동성에 대한 교사들의 인식을 조사하기 위해 중등학교 과학 교사들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 대부분의 교사들은 황해난류가 우리나라 서해안으로 연중 북상하고 있으며 일반적인 난류와 같이 여름철에 강하다는 잘못된 지식을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 황해난류는 해류의 세기가 강한 계절변동성을 가지는 북한한류와 달리 해류 자체가 연중 항시 존재하지 않으며 겨울철에만 발생하는 해류이다. 이러한 교사들의 교과내용 지식에 대한 오류는 북한한류가 겨울철에 강하다는 오개념을 가지게 된 연유와 유사한 배경을 가지고 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 황해난류에 대한 교과서 내용의 오류를 분석하여 제시하였다. 또한 학생들과 교사들의 데이터 리터러시 함양을 위하여 탐구활동에서 활용할 수 있는 황해난류에 대한 수업 자료를 개발하였다. 황해 해수면 온도를 가시화할 수 있는 GUI 프로그램을 소개하였고, WOA (World Ocean Atlas) 2018 해양 실측 수온 및 염분자료와 국립해양조사원에서 생성한 해양 수치모델 재분석자료를 활용하여 수온과 염분의 공간 분포를 도시하는 자료를 개발하여 제시하였다. 이러한 해양 자료를 활용한 데이터 시각화과정은 교사들의 오개념을 개선하고, 나아가 학생들과 교사들의 해양 리터러시뿐만 아니라 데이터 리터러시도 제고하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.
