Nonlinear shear strength of pre-stressed concrete beams

  • The shear strength is an important factor in the design of prestressed concrete beams. Therefore, researchers have utilized various methods to determine the shear strength of these elements for the design purposes. To evaluate some of the proposed theoretical methods, numerous models of post-tensioned beams with or without vertical prestressing are selected and analyzed using the finite element method and assuming nonlinear behavior for the materials. In this regard the validity of modeling is evaluated based on some tests results. In the second part of the study two beam specimens are built and tested and their load-deformation curve and cracking pattern are studied. The analytical results consist of compressive strut slope and mid span load deflection are compared with some experimental results, and the results of some codes' formulas. Finally comparing the results of nonlinear analysis with the experimental values, a new formula is proposed for determining strut slopes in prestressed concrete beams.

  • To minimize construction quantity of nuclear facility, it is required to reduce reinforcing bar amount and solve reinforcing bar concentration and for this, it is necessary to develop application design technology and modular of high strength reinforcing bar. Hence, KHNP reduces excessive reinforcing bar amount which can cause possibility of poor construction of concrete through design standard development and modular of nuclear facility structure using high strength reinforcing bar to raise economics and has its purpose to maintain high-level safety and durability as they are.

  • There are being a lot of studies for achievement of high speed Dehydration, high-strength and Lightweight of washing machine in the latest washing machine business. It is essential that Press-joining Strength of Spin Drum Seaming division is improved .to attain that target. Generally, we are using Mechanical press-joining by Seaming and T.I.G (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding among part joint method. Mechanical press-joining method that is mainly using for Stainless Steel (STS430) Drum have lots of merit that consumption of energy is low more than welding and production costs cut down and generation of the corrosion is solved by removing weld zone defect and materials having different properties are enable to join without special equipment. But, it is difficult to realize joint strength required at high speed operation because joint strength of mechanical press-joining method is low remarkably in comparison with welding. Also, there are a lot of analysis difficulties and very limited research is under way due to the dynamic factor such as multistage plastic working, elastic recovery, residual stress etc. The results of this study show optimal joining condition for mechanical press-joining by performing lots of tensile joining strength test with various specimen under multi-change of important design factor such as seaming width, bead area and bead depth etc.

Prediction of Tensile Strength of a Large Single Anchor Considering the Size Effect

  • An anchorage system is essential for most reinforced concrete structures to connect building components. Therefore, the prediction of strength of the anchor is very important issue for safety of the structures themselves as well as structural components. The prediction models in existing design codes are, however, not applicable for large anchors because they are based on the small size anchors with diameters under 50 mm. In this paper, new prediction models for strength of a single anchor, especially the tensile strength of a single anchor, is developed from the experimental results with consideration of size effect. Size effect in the existing models such as ACI or CCD method is based on the linear fracture mechanics which is very conservative way to consider the size effect. Therefore, new models are developed based on the nonlinear fracture mechanics rather than the linear fracture mechanics for more reasonable prediction. New models are proposed by the regression analysis of the experimental results and it can predict the tensile strength of both small and large anchors.

  • The exterior finishing of reinforced concrete buildings is one of the important factors to prevent durability and prevent natural environment or disaster such as temperature, snow, wind, rain from the outside as well as external design of buildings. Finishing methods can be divided into wet and dry methods. The wet method using paint is relatively easy to construct, but it requires repair and reinforcement every 1 to 5 years and requires a lot of LCC for maintenance. Finishing method using panel has good durability, but it is difficult to install and expensive. Therefore, in this paper, we evaluate the bond strength for the application of the metal spray method in order to overcome the problems of existing methods. Experimental results show that the sandblast + surface roughness agent(S-R(Y)) has a roughness of 41.16 ㎛ and the bond strength is about 3.19 MPa, which is the highest bond strength. In addition, the grinding + surface roughness agent(G-R(Y)) application showed roughness of about 36.59 ㎛ and secured the bond strength performance of 2.94 MPa.

선행압축이론을 이용한 화강풍화토의 다짐 후의 간극비로부터 지반강도정수 추정 방법 (Method for the Evaluation of Strength Parameter from the Void Ratio of Decomposed Granite Soil after Compaction Using Preconsolidation Theory)

  • 다짐재료의 물리적인 지표와 역학적정수와의 관계를 명확히 하고, 설계에 필요한 역학정수를 간극비 및 건조밀도 등의 물리적 지표를 통해 간단히 추정하는 방법을 제시하기 위하여, 화강풍화토를 이용한 다짐시험, 일차원압축시험, 불포화삼축압축시험을 실시하였다. 실험결과, 다짐으로 인해 공시체는 과압밀상태가 되며 다짐 에너지의 증가로 공시체의 강도정수가 증가되는 것이 정량적으로 확인되었고, 다짐재료의 과압밀상태를 평가하는 선행압축이론을 이용하여 다짐 후의 간극비로부터 강도정수를 추정하는 방법을 제시하여 그 공학적 적정성을 확인하였다.

종굽힘강도시험방법을 이용한 폴리에틸렌 보트 선체의 구조 설계 (Structural Design of Polyethylene Boat Hull by using Longitudinal Bending Strength Test Method)

  • 레저 보트 선체의 구조설계규격과 재료는 ISO 12215-5에 규정되어 있으며 선체 전장이 2.5m이상 24m미만이면서 선체재료가 강, 알루미늄, FRP등에 대해서만 적용할 수 있다. 따라서 선체 전장이 2.5m이하이거나 선체 재료가 ISO 12215-5의 규정 재료이외인 레저 보트인 경우 ISO 12215-5의 구조설계규격을 적용시킬 수 없고 ISO 12215-5의 부속서에 규정된 낙하시험만으로 구조 신뢰성을 확보할 수 있다. 그러나 선체낙하시험은 제작된 선체에 대하여 적용하는 것은 가능하나 선체를 구조설계단계에서 적용하는 것은 상당한 설계 및 시험 비용등을 초래하므로 현장 적용성이 떨어진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 일본 소형 선박 검사 사무 규정 세칙에서 제안하고 있는 선체의 종굽힘강도시험규격을 폴리에틸렌 보트 선체의 구조 설계에 응용하여 ISO 12215-5의 비선급표준재료로 제작된 폴리에틸렌 보트의 종굽힘강도시험규격의 허용 설계 변위 기준을 제안하였다.

해양자동채염기의 최소중량설계를 위한 메타모델 기반 근사최적화 (Approximate Optimization Based on Meta-model for Weight Minimization Design of Ocean Automatic Salt Collector)

  • 본 논문에서는 해양자동채염기의 구조중량 최소화를 위해 구조설계에 대한 메타모델 기반 근사최적화를 수행하였다. 구조해석은 해양자동채염기의 초기설계에 대한 강도성능을 평가하기 위해 유한요소법을 이용하여 수행하였다. 구조해석에서는 설계하중조건에 대한 강도성능을 평가하였다. 최적설계문제는 강도성능 제한조건을 만족하면서 중량을 최소화할 수 있는 구조두께의 설계변수를 결정하도록 정식화하였다. 근사최적화에는 반응표면법, 크리깅 모델 및 체비쇼프 직교 다항식의 메타모델을 사용하였다. 수치계산 특성을 검토하기 위해 근사최적화 결과는 비근사최적화 결과와 비교하였다. 근사최적화에 사용된 메타모델 중 체비쇼프 직교 다항식이 해양자동채염기의 구조설계에 가장 적합한 최적설계 결과를 나타내었다.

Mix Design and Properties of Recycled Aggregate Concretes: Applicability of Eurocode 2

  • This work is devoted to the study of fresh and hardened properties of concrete containing recycled gravel. Four formulations were studied, the concrete of reference and three concretes containing recycled gravel with 30, 65 and 100 % replacement ratios. All materials were formulated on the basis of S4 class of flowability and a target C35 class of compressive strength according to the standard EN 206-1. The paper first presents the mix design method which was based on the optimization of cementitious paste and granular skeleton, then discusses experimental results. The results show that the elastic modulus and the tensile strength decrease while the peak strain in compression increases. Correlation with the water porosity is also established. The validity of analytical expressions proposed by Eurocode 2 is also discussed. The obtained results, together with results from the literature, show that these relationships do not predict adequately the mechanical properties as well as the stress-strain curve of tested materials. New expressions were established to predict the elastic modulus and the peak strain from the compressive strength of natural concrete. It was found that the proposed relationship E-$f_c$ is applicable for any type of concrete while the effect of substitution has to be introduced into the stress-strain (${\varepsilon}_{c1}-f_c$) relationship for recycled aggregate concrete. For the full stress-strain curve, the model of Carreira and Chu seems more adequate.

전복 안전성 향상을 위한 고속 버스 차체 개발 프로세스에 관한 연구 (A Study for Developing Process of a Bus Body Structure for the Rollover Safety)

  • Bus manufacturers have tested and studied the dynamic collapse behavior of a bus body structure in rollover since UN ECE established ECE Regulation 66 to provide the requirement for the strength of bus structure. In spite of the costly cycles of practical tests, however, it is still a hard task to meet the rollover regulation by means of local reinforcements in the bus structure. Therefore it is necessary to develop a well designed strategy for the rollover strength implemented in the early stage of vehicle development. In this study, the suitable development method for each design stage from a component to complete body structure was considered to make a well-established development process of a bus body structure for rollover safety. For the efficient approach of the concept design stage, a numerical model based on the plastic hinge theory was used instead of detailed shell models. After setting up the concept design for the component size and geometry, the shell model was used to confirm and optimize the whole structure composition. The process developed in this study was practically used as an effective method to predict the rollover behavior of a new bus body structure.
