Classification and Safety Score Evaluation of Street Images Using CNN (CNN을 이용한 거리 사진의 분류와 안전도 평가)

  • CNN (convolution neural network) has become the most popular artificial intelligence technique and shows remarkable performance in image classification task. In this paper, we propose a CNN-based classification method for various street images as well as a method of evaluating the safety score for the street. The proposed method consists of learning four types of street images using CNN and classifying input street images using the learned CNN model followed by evaluating the safety score. During the learning process, four types of street images are collected and augmented, and then CNN learning is performed. It is shown that learned CNN model classifies input images correctly and the safety scores are evaluated quantitatively by combining the probabilities of different street types.

Predicting the Living Status of Homeless Youth: Living on the Street or in a Shelter

  • Information about the characteristics of street-living versus shelter-residing youth is vital for tailoring prevention and intervention efforts to the unique needs of runaway and homeless youth. The present study compared two samples of youth [street-living (n=73) versus shelter-residing (n=205)], between the ages of 14 to 17 years, on behavioral and emotional factors and service use. Based on the different characteristics of the two groups, the predictors explaining the living status of the runaways and homeless youth were explored. In general, street-living youth reported more severe substance use, depressive symptoms, and risky sexual behavior, but less lifetime service involvement compared to shelter-residing youth. The factors that predicted shelter-residing status were related to younger age, prior service care experience, more knowledge about HIV, and engaging in less delinquent and risky behavior. Given the little overlap among youth in service involvement and the greater severity faced by street-living youth, the conclusions highlight the need for increased funding and attention towards facilitating the ability of street-living youth to find and enter mental health and reintegration services.

Women's Street Fashion in World Fashion-Leading Cities (Classification and Style Analysis)

  • Recently, street fashion has been regularly introduced in many fashion media because both consumers and marketers began to recognize the importance of street fashion as a meaningful and objective fashion information source. As the globalization proceeds in fashion field,' the street fashion informations in major cities which has led world fashion trends become more influential on domestic fashion, but little concern has been paid on it. This study classified women's street fashion in 4 major world fashion cities such as Paris, London, New York, Tokyo and identified style characteristics of each group. For data collection, 795 front-view photos were selected from the two fashion trade publication 'STREET' and 'VIEW' which has introduced street fashion photos in those cities from 1996. Classification process went on three stages: sorting, naming and grouping. 49 undergraduate students were divided into 12 teams and about 80 photos were given to each team to sort into several sub-groups by overall images or common style characteristics. Then each sub-group was named according to common images or characteristics. Final groups came out after grouping each sub-group with a similar or same title together. For each group, common style characteristics were analyzed.

A Study on Students' Intake of Street Foods and Their Perception toward Hygiene Status of Street Foods and Microbiological Analysis (길거리 음식에 대한 중${\cdot}$${\cdot}$대학생의 섭취 및 위생상태 인식과 미생물 분석)

  • We investigated the intake trends of street foods for middle school, high school and colleges students through the survey study. In addition, the factors affecting the students' consumption of street foods and their perception toward hygiene status of street vendor were studied. The levels of total aerobic bacteria, coliform groups and enterobacteriaceae in Kimbab, eomuk, and eomuk-kukmul were counted using 3M petrifilms. More than ninety seven % of the respondents had experienced street foods. All the respondents ate street foods 1 to 5 times a month. Forty percent of the respondent stated that 'good taste' and 'time-saving convenience' were their reason for eating the street foods. Their favorite foods were ddokbokgi and various fried foods. All the students responded that frying oil, drinking water, and soy sauce as well as the street vendors' attire and their cooking tools in street vendor were unsanitary. Forty percent of the respondents ranked frying oil as the most unsanitary substance. Eighty percent of the respondents responded that an enforcement of hygiene should be imposed on the street foods vendor. There were significant differences (p<0.001) among the student's age in the opinion related to the reasons of eating street foods, hygiene enforcement, existence of street foods and interest of hygiene status of street foods. High correlation (p<0.05) between the frequency of street foods and snack intakes was shown, regardless of student's age. The result shows that those who eat snacks more than once a day tend to eat street foods more frequently. Aerobic plate counts in Kimbab in 5 different vendors exceeded 10$^5$/g and contamination levels of enterobacteriaceae or coliform in Kimbab exceeded more than 10$^3$/g, which did not satisfy the microbiological standards. In conclusion, although the respondents thought that the sanitation of street foods was poor, most of them want the street food vendor to be maintained with better hygiene condition. This indicated that the regulation for safe street foods should be enforced and educational information about the preparation and serving for safe street foods should be provided to street food vendor.

Estimation of Individual Street Trees Using Simulated Airborne LIDAR Data (모의 항공 라이다 자료를 이용한 개별 가로수의 추정)

  • Street trees are one of useful urban facilities that reduce carbon dioxide and provide green space in urban areas. They are usually managed by local government, and it is effective to use aerial LIDAR data in order to acquire information such as the location, height and crown width of street tree systematically. In this research, algorithm was proposed that improves the accuracy of extracting top points of street trees and separates the region of individual street trees from aerial LIDAR data. In order to verify the proposed algorithm, a simulated aerial LIDAR data that exactly knows the number, height and crown width of street trees was created. As for the procedure of data processing, filtering that separates ground and non-ground points from LIDAR data was first conducted in order to separate the region of individual street trees. An estimated non-street tree points were then removed from non-ground points, and the top points of street trees were estimated. Region of individual street trees was determined by using the intersecting point of straight line that connects top point and ground point of street tree. Through the experiment by using simulated data, it was possible to refine wrongly estimated points occurred by determining tree tops and to determine the positional information, height, crown width of street trees through the determination of region of street trees.

  • This paper presents a traveler guidance system that offers 3D street information such as road types, signal light systems, street trees, buildings, etc. We consider 5x4 road system of Gangnam(in Seoul, Korea) as a test area and reflect the traveler's car-driving situation. A web server is constructed to serve traveler's driving path by switching 3D animation scenes automatically. To do batch processing of geometric data for the 3D graphical streets construction, we have extracted major street information from present GIS database and created new GIS file formats (SMF files), which contain data sessions for links, nodes, and facilities. With these files, we can render 3D navigation scenes. A number of vector calculations were performed for the geometrical consistence and texture-mapping method was used for the realistic scene generation. Finally, we have verified the effectiveness of the service by operating a test scenario. We have checked whether traveler's 2D path and 3D navigation are exactly reported after setting specific departure and destination. This system offers us well awareness of streets and takes useful role of traveler guidance.

  • The purpose of this research is to develope street trees management program for more an effective street trees management. The principal point of this program is to relate spatial data and attribute data that is the main concept in GIS(Geographic Information System). To do this function, MapObjects which is ESRI's mapping and GIS components was used to process spatial data and Access which had been developed by MS was used to manipulate attribute data in this program. Visual Basic also was used to design and develop user interfaces and procedures, relate two sort of data, and lastly complete Application. Relational data model was adopted to design tables and their relation, Antenucci's GIS development model was selected to design and complete this program. The configuration of this application is composed of management data and reference data. The management data includes the location of street tree, a growth condition, a surrounding environment, the characters of tree, an equipments, a management records and etc. The reference data include general information about tree, blight and insects.

  • Fashion is hard to expect owing to the rapid change in accordance with consumer taste and environment, and has a tendency toward variety and individuality. Especially street fashion d 21st century is not being regarded as one of the subcultures but is playing an important role as a fountainhead d fashion trend. Therefore, Searching and analyzing street fashions helps us to understand the popular fashions d the next season and also it is important in understanding the consumer fashion sense and commercial area. A Study of the Street-food Purchasing Behavior of Culinary Major and Non-major University Students in the Daejeon Area (대전지역 조리 전공과 비전공 대학생의 거리 음식 구매 실태에 관한 연구)

  • The principal objective of this study was to determine the street-food needs of culinary major and non-major university students. University students in Daejeon were assessed by surveys conducted between November 20, 2007 and November 25, 2007. The results of the surveys were as follows; 1. The reason for street-food usage: mainly snacks(37.4%). 2. Primary factor considered when choosing street-food: taste of the food(48.52%). 3. The frequency of street-food purchase: 2 times/month(52.4%) 4. The mean cost for the one-time purchase of street-food: $1,000{\sim}2,000$ won(62.4%). The Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) used for obtaining information from the culinary major and non-major university students suggested that the attributes of street-food with fair to poor performance but high importance were as follows: sanitary quality in chicken skewers, soondae, ddeokbokki and fried foods and price and nutrition for hamburgers.

  • The street landscape image is through complex experience of psychological factor by the visionary experience and physical factor by recognize a street's structure. Therefore, the need for analyz-ing and evaluating the psychological and physical aspect of street view was aroused, and how much it has an effect on the outcome. Above all, a definite street standard of a region in its characteristics was selected to analyze the street characteristics of a region (commercial, business, and complex area). A questionnaire was used to measure psychological information felt in a street area. As a result, the street image holds similar characteristics according to regional characteristics and the amenity and busy condition play a major role in having the effect. To know of the effect of street of a region that is known to cause the busy in a region, the discriminant analysis was made between the selected regions to analyze the difference. As a result, the difference of the width of street, ratio of widths of sidewalk and driveway, the ratio of height of a building and width of street, and the difference of tree-planting ratio were main factors which helped to feel more of the contrary of street in a region. Current research has helped to make more precise analysis and evaluation of all kinds of street images, and suggested different means of having more live image in a street region through physical factors. To create more the busy in a region, it is considered that analyzing the image of a street would be used more.
