  • This paper proposes strategy development to improve the management of Multicultural Family Support Centers by analyzing four Multicultural Family Support Centers (MFSCs) in Chungcheongnam-do. The research was conducted from September 2012 to January 2013. Future directions for the four MFSCs are established based on a SWOT analysis on both the internal and external environments of the centers. Various strategic directions for the four MFSCs were identified based on these analyses. For center A (urban type, college contract type), the strategic directions included the specialization strategy, systemization strategy, empowerment strategy, standardization strategy, and achievement maximization strategy. The strategic directions for center B (urban-rural combined type, social welfare center contract type) included the improvement of multiculture awareness, specialization strategy, human resource development strategy, and networking strategy. For center C (farming and fishing community type, direct management type by local authority), the strategic directions included the specialization strategy, activation strategy, qualification strategy, and networking strategy. For center D (farming and fishing community type, social welfare center contract type), the strategic directions included the specialization strategy, business standardization strategy, human resource development strategy, and network expansion strategy. The suggested management strategy development for the four MFSCs can provide implications for the management of MFSCs in other areas in Korea.

  • This study reports on the use of the trait and state cognitive/metacognitive strategy use and the difference of the trait/state strategy use according to students' proficiency level. First of all, for checking up the trait strategy use, 119 first-grade male students in a high school completed the questionnaire on strategies which they thought they used during a reading test. Secondly, to find out their state strategy use, students took a fifteen-item reading comprehension test, followed by filling out questionnaires on cognitive and metacognitive strategies used in the test. This study employed quantitative data analysis. The results suggested that (1) the cognitive and metacognitive strategy use in the trait and state conditions are used the most by the high proficiency group and they are correlated respectively; (2) these strategies are used with statistically significant difference according to students' proficiency level, especially to the lower level students. The highly successful group uses the cognitive and metacognitive strategy in the actual test situation more than the lower proficient group; there is no difference in trait and state strategy use.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate of the perception, elements and quality level of business strategy in domestic hospitals. We analyze survey data about strategy. Significantly, we find that domestic hospitals were greatly feeling about the necessity and importance of strategy, but elements and quality level of actual execution strategy is much lower. When evaluating level on the perception, elements and quality of strategy within each of Miles and Snow's strategy type, PA(prospector+analyzer) was higher than DR(defender+reactor). And result of structural equation modeling(SEM), elements had a significant influence on the quality of the strategy, a positive relationship between the components and the PA have been identified. Therefore, we propose that to increase the elements level in order to improve the quality level of strategy, and hospital administrators are need to be PA rather than DR.

  • The present research studied the effectiveness of specific strategy training in memory awareness on children's memory performance. The subjects were 60 children, 30 six-year-olds and 30 eight-year-olds. Free recall scores and use of a rehearsal strategy (exposure durations) based on Belmont & Butterfield (1971) were used to measure children's performance in three memory tasks. All subjects were randomly assigned to one of three experimental groups: the control group with no training, the chunking and rehearsal strategy training group, and the chunking and rehearsal strategy training combined with memory awareness strategy. The data were analyzed with two-way ANOVA, three-way ANOVA with repeated measures, and Student-Newman-Keuls post hoc test. There were significant differences among the three groups both in the free recall score and in the use of the rehearsal strategy. The mnemonic strategic training with memory awareness strategy was the most effective on both free recall and use of rehearsal strategy. The effects of the mnemonic strategy training with memory awareness strategy were more effective for the 8-year-olds than the 6-year-olds.

We think that the study will contribute to establish effective management strategy of private university hospitals. Data were collected from 69 private university hospitals. We measured balancing, coordinating and learning strategy, and perceived performance of the hospital by using 5-point Likert scale. Upper-grade general hospitals were significantly higher rate of growth and profitability than others. However, general hospitals were higher level in perceived performance than upper-grade general hospitals. Hospitals located in Seoul were significantly higher growth rate than those in other regions. Large-scale hospitals were significantly higher rate of growth and profitability than small hospitals. Qualitative performance did not different in any hospital characteristics. Growth of hospitals were significantly influenced from business strategies: selective strategy, formal coordinating strategy, and external learning strategy. Profitability of hospitals were also significantly influenced from business strategies: selective strategy, adaptive strategy, and external learning strategy. Subjective performance of hospitals were significantly influenced from external learning strategy. There were no factors that are significantly influencing on qualitative performance of hospital. To have successful performance in the competitive environment, it is recommended that private university hospitals should have to establish management strategy such as balancing, coordinating, and learning strategy.

  • This paper aims to diagnose the strategy execution ability and to provide corresponding measures for Korean oceanic shipping companies. The analysis method is the t-test between importance awareness and Corresponding ability for strategy execution diagnosis index(XPP). According to the diagnosed results, the strategy development is unsatisfactory because the strategy implemented does not adhere to concurrent environmental change. Moreover, the execution of the strategy is also unsatisfactory. Therefore, an evaluation shows that there is a need for a SWOT analysis using BSC, an organization structure to strengthen the strategy execution ability and the support from the market condition analysis prediction center.
