전략적 유연성을 고려한 연구개발사업의 경제성 평가: 이론 및 사례 분석 (Economic Valuation of R&D Programs with Strategic Flexibility)

  • Under circumstances with increasing uncertainty, strategic flexibility has become an essential point on which my R&D management system should be based. Unfortunately the present R&D management system for government sponsored R&D programs cannot be said to be so flexible to adapt appropriately to various threatens such as technological failure, a severe change in competition environment, and so on. In this paper a new scheme for R&D planning and economic assessment with strategic flexibility is suggested and applied to a real R&D program. In the newly suggested R&D management system, economic valuation based on real option theory is performed for various alternative scenarios which have different strategic scheme for R&D process each and the result of the assessment is fed back to R&D planning to choose more superior strategic scheme. Introducing strategic flexibility into R&D planning and economic assessment, the value of R&D project could be remarkably enhanced.

  • Knowledge management is an essential part for gaining competitive advantage. The knowledge management system deals with information gathering, process, and implementation for the organizational performance advantage. The study integrates knowledge management in view of an internal organizational information processing structure and external strategic issue management system. This means that the coordination between internal systematic process and external scanning mechanism is essential for organizational success.

  • 전략경영의 중요이슈는 전략수립, 전략실행 및 성과측정에 이르는 일련의 전력경영과정을 하나의 관리적 이론으로 통합하는데 있다. 본 논문은 파워프로세스에 기초하여 전략경영 과정을 하나의 관리적 이론으로 통합하기 위한 이론과 실천적 방안을 제시하여 전략적 성공이나 지속가능 경쟁우위에 기여하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 논문에서는 파워프로세스의 원리와 특성을 논의하고 이를 기반으로 전략경영의 과정의 통합을 위한 학술적 및 실천적 방안을 제시하고 있다. 또한 본 논문에서는 경쟁우위를 위한 산업구조, 자원기반 및 게임이론 접근의 가정과 경쟁적 환경 및 상대적 우위에 대해서 논의하고, 파워프로세스의 성격과 특성을 규명하여 파워프로세스에 의한 경쟁우위 접근이 이들과의 상대적 위치를 규명하였다. 파워프로세스는 경쟁우위를 위한 전략수립과 관리적 개념을 통합할 수 있는 이론적 및 경영적 방안을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 전략성공에 크게 기여할 수 있다.

  • Government-sponsored Research Institutes (GRIs) have made a great contribution to the development of Korea Science and Technology(S&T). Because of appearing emerging technology, accelerating technological innovation, and increasing research capabilities of other research organizations (universities and firms), however, many problems have been presenting in a GRIs's function and role. With this change in S&T environment, the need for strategic management of GRls has been increased. In these days, firms have been using a strategic management audit for their strategic management. Strategic Management Accounting and Firm Performance: Evidence from Finance Businesses in Thailand

  • This study aims to examine the effects of strategic management accounting on firm performance of finance businesses in Thailand. Strategic management accounting comprises of environmental scanning, competitor orientation and forward-looking information. In this study, 175 finance businesses in Thailand are the samples of the study. A mail survey procedure was used for data collection. The hierarchical multiple regression analysis is employed to test the research relationships. Firstly, environmental scanning positively affects operational excellence, organizational effectiveness and firm performance. Secondly, competitor orientation is positively related to managerial efficiency and organizational effectiveness. Thirdly, forward-looking information has a positive influence on operational excellence, managerial efficiency, organizational effectiveness, and firm performance. In addition, operational excellence, managerial efficiency and organizational effectiveness have positive impact on firm performance. Finally, to verify the mediating effects, operational excellence, managerial efficiency and organizational effectiveness are the mediators of the research relationships. This study confirms that all dimensions of strategic management accounting play a significant role in determining business outcome as being congruent with the theory of resource-based views of the firms. Executives of firms need to provide valuable resources and capabilities to support the strategic management accounting implementation in order to achieve good business outcome in highly competitive environments.

  • Korea has shown a tremendous leap in economic development in a short span of time, and the world is watching Korea's economy with keen interest. Development of industries that are implementing information systems (IS) has played a role in leading economic growth in Korea. Because of the success of Korean firms, the creation of case studies for implementing IS in Korean firms was attempted. Despite the many case studies, analysis of the motivations and results, for implementing IS as a firm's strategic purpose, was rarely conducted. Therefore, this paper investigates some Korean firms' cases studies in order to show the best practice example of implementing and adopting IS strategically. Nine cases of Korean firms' strategic use of IS were analyzed in various industry fields. Each case consists of the following four categories: company overview, background implementing IS, adoption of IS for strategic purpose, and the results of implementing IS. In order to help various companies to take an action with their IS implementation and its strategic use, implications from the cases are summarized to show how Korean firms strategically introduced IS for solving particular problems that they had faced.

  • In the current conditions of world socio-economic development, the strategic support of the process of managing the development of universities has become a particularly important area. Strategic management requires reliable information and analytical support in the form of sound descriptions of strategic directions of development, assumptions, and forecasts. The purpose of the study is to substantiate and elaborate the crucial causes in the strategic management of university's development and to suggest the coherent prospects for advancements. The data analysis was performed using descriptive methods to identify the most significant causes that affect the university's strategic development; the expert assessment was used to rank the factors, ultimately to assess each factor that affects to some extent the university's strategic development; the abstract-logical method was used to ground the positive impact of computer technologies and e-learning on the strategic development of a university and to formulate proposals for its further progress. The main results provided in the given paper showed that significant and most important strategic cause of university's development lies in the field of improving the quality of education, expanding access to educational services based on computer technology and its functionality. In turn, its widespread use at all stages of the educational process allows providing a number of advancements for universities in strategic prospects.

  • 지식주도의 탈자본주의 시대, 발주방식 다양화, 그리고 업역재편 및 경쟁심화 등 최근 국가 건설 정책변화 및 건설 환경변화에 비추어 볼 때, 일반건설기업으로서는 특화된 사업 분야에 대한 기술역량 및 문제해결 능력 강화를 위하여 지식과 경험을 축적하여야 하며, 이를 통하여 경쟁우위 확보전략을 고려하여야 할 시점이라고 판단된다. 이러한 맥락에서, 본 연구는 전략적 건설기술 업무에 대한 지식 축적 및 관리 방향 분석을 위한 개념적 틀과 이를 기반으로 한 지식 활용계획 방법론을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법론은 중견 일반건설기업 사례적용을 통하여 효용성을 검증하였다. 본 연구의 결과물은 건설기업의 자체 역량을 강화 대상 핵심 업무에 대한 건설기술 지식관리 시스템 개발에 공헌을 할 수 있을 것이며, 또한 체계적 경험 축적을 통하여 기술력 경재 우위 확보에 기피할 것으로 기대된다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a model of the strategic management of university library in Korea. The model from this study is summarized as follows: 1.   • 이 연구는 전략적 인적자원관리가 시큐리티업무 종사자의 직무스트레스와 직업몰입에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 실시되었으며, 이를 위하여 시큐리티업무 종사자를 대상으로 유의표집방법으로 188명의 표본을 추출하고 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 활용하였으며, 자료의 목적에 따라 빈도분석, 상관관계분석, 중다회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 전략적 인적자원관리는 직무스트레스에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 전략적 인적자원관리는 직업몰입에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 직무스트레스는 직업몰입에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 전략적 인적자원관리와 직무스트레스 두 요인이 직업몰입에 결정적 요인으로 작용하며, 직무스트레스는 매개변수로 중요한 역할을 수행한다는 것을 의미한다. 결론적으로 각 조직에 필요한 전략적 인적자원관리의 요인을 선택하고 새로운 방안을 개발하여 경쟁력을 갖춘다면 시큐리티산업의 질적 성장에 많은 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
