To stop the train safely within the limited traveling distance and reduce its speed to the desired speed, it is necessary to guarantee the correct braking force. Presently, most trains have electric propulsion system and have adopted combined electrical and mechanical(friction) braking system. The friction coefficient between brake disc and pad is an important parameter in determining the mechanical braking force. In general, friction coefficient data of braking material have been taken through the dynamo-test in a laboratory. This study have suggested two methodologies that can measure friction coefficient of braking material on the train's actual operating condition. The first is the direct method; measure the brake force and the clamping force applied on the mechanical brake by using strain gauges installed at the brake disk, and then calculate it. The second method is the indirect method; obtain the friction coefficient by using the train load and the equivalent brake force which is deducted the longitudinal force, such as resistance to motion, gradient resistance and curved resistance, from the inertia force applied to the train.
In this paper, a minimum time path planning strategy is proposed for multi points manufacturing problems in drilling/spot welding tasks. By optimizing the travelling schedule of the set points and the detailed transfer path between points, the minimum time manufacturing task is realized under fully utilizing the dynamic performance of robotic manipulator. According to the start-stop movement in drilling/spot welding task, the path planning problem can be converted into a traveling salesman problem (TSP) and a series of point to point minimum time transfer path planning problems. Cubic Hermite interpolation polynomial is used to parameterize the transfer path and then the path parameters are optimized to obtain minimum point to point transfer time. A new TSP with minimum time index is constructed by using point-point transfer time as the TSP parameter. The classical genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to obtain the optimal travelling schedule. Several minimum time drilling tasks of a 3-DOF robotic manipulator are used as examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The expected result is that the effects can contribute to the development and the activation of company or brand's social video marketing by using the new video production technique. From the perspective of a company, the technique can effect in a positive way. They can provide consistent message to customers (public) by the color effect which contain brand's core message.
The experimental apparatus is designed and installed to measure the disc positions with flow velocity, $V_{open}\;and\;V_{min}$ for 3 inch and 6 inch swing check valves. The minimum flow velocity necessary to just open the disc at a full open position is referred to as $V_{open}\;and\;V_{min}$ is defined as the minimum velocity to fully open the disc and hold it without motion. In the experiments, $V_{min}$ is determined as the minimum flow velocity at which the back stop load begins to increase after the disc is idly opened or the oscillation level of disc is reduced below $1^{\circ}$. The results show that the $V_{min}$ velocities for 3 inch and 6 inch swing check valves are about 15.6% and 4.8% higher than the $V_{open}$ velocities, respectively. Although the experiments were done with the stable uniform flow, additional experiments will be performed to determine the effects of the upstream disturbances.

In this study, a car-door-controlled collision protection system using proximity sensor is proposed and its preliminary analysis and several preliminary experiments are conducted. The proposed system has three additional sub-components on the car-door that is, a pair of extra electro-magnetic actuator that are attached to the sliding bar of the open/close car-door four-bar mechanism, a proximity sensor that would be attached to the outside surface of the door which is likely to frequently contact to the object and a driving control circuit of the whole system. A proximity sensor is used to detect object close to the car-door, the driving control circuit provides actuating power command to the electro-magnets to generate braking force to stop the swing motion of the car-door. It is verified through kinematic analysis of the four-bar car-door open/close mechanism and through experiments that the magnitude of maximum electronic magnetic force could provide the braking force enough for this application. For this purpose, an electro-magnet driving circuit is implemented and tested. And also to increase the safety of the system a time delay circuit is implemented and tested.
In this paper, we present an animation sketching system using a two layered approach. Animation sketching is a popular technique to create informal animations but it is often suffered by the low-quality output due to a trade-off between convenience and complexity. Our aim is to support sketching practical animation scenes easily and fast while not complicating the simple sketching interface. The key idea is to combine two conceptual stop motion layers, a whiteboard and cutout animation layer, in a seamless interface. As a background, the whiteboard animation layer handles stroke-oriented objects, while the cutout animation layer takes charge of transform-oriented objects. We found that this approach enables users to express more complicated animation fast while still maintaining a concise sketching interface. We demonstrate the usability and flexibility through resulting animations from user experiments.

The gated RapidArc may produce a dosimetric error due to the stop-and-go motion of heavy gantry which can misalign the gantry restart position and reduce the accuracy of important factors in RapidArc delivery such as MLC movement and gantry speed. In this study, the effect of stop-and-go motion in gated RapidArc was analyzed with varying gating window time, which determines the total number of stop-and-go motions. Total 10 RapidArc plans for treatment of liver cancer were prepared. The RPM gating system and the moving phantom were used to set up the accurate gating window time. Two different delivery quality assurance (DQA) plans were created for each RapidArc plan. One is the portal dosimetry plan and the other is MapCHECK2 plan. The respiratory cycle was set to 4 sec and DQA plans were delivered with three different gating conditions: no gating, 1-sec gating window, and 2-sec gating window. The error between calculated dose and measured dose was evaluated based on the pass rate calculated using the gamma evaluation method with 3%/3 mm criteria. The average pass rates in the portal dosimetry plans were $98.72{\pm}0.82%$, $94.91{\pm}1.64%$, and $98.23{\pm}0.97%$ for no gating, 1-sec gating, and 2-sec gating, respectively. The average pass rates in MapCHECK2 plans were $97.80{\pm}0.91%$, $95.38{\pm}1.31%$, and $97.50{\pm}0.96%$ for no gating, 1-sec gating, and 2-sec gating, respectively. We verified that the dosimetric accuracy of gated RapidArc increases as gating window time increases and efforts should be made to increase gating window time during the RapidArc treatment process.

Background and Objectives : Dysarthria refers to speech disorder that causes difficulties in speech communication due to paralysis, muscle weakening, and incoordination of speech muscle mechanism caused by damaged central or peripheral nerve system. Pitch, strength and speed are influenced by dysarthria during detonation due to difficulties in muscle control. As evaluation items, alternate motion rate and diadochokinesis have been commonly used, and articulation is also an important evaluation items. The purpose of this study is to find acoustic characteristics on sound production of dysarthria patients. Materials and Methods : Research subjects have been selected as 20 dysarthria patients and 20 subjects for control group, and voice sample was composed of bilabial, alveolar sound, and velar sound in diadochokinetic rate, while consonant articulation test was composed of bilabial plosive, alveolar plosive, velar plosive. Analysis items were composed of 1) speaking rate, energy, articulation time of diadochokinesis, 2) voice onset time (VOT), total duration (TD), vowel duration (VD), hold of plosives. Results and Conclusions : The number of diadochokinetic rate of dysarthria was smaller than control group. Both control group and dysarthria group was highly presented in the order of /t/>/p/>/k/. Minimum energy range per cycle during diadochokinetic rate of dysarthria group was smaller than control group, and presented statistical significance in /p/, /k/, /ptk/. Maximum energy range was larger than control group, and presented statistical significance in /t/, /ptk/. Articulation time, gap, total articulation time during diadochokinetic rate of dysarthria group was longer than control group and presented statistical significance. The articulation time was presented in both control group and dysarthria group in the order of /k/>/t/>/p/, while Gap was presented in the order of /p/>/t/>/k/ for control group and /p/>/k/>/t/ for dysarthria group. VOT, TD, VD regarding plosives of dysarthria group were longer than control group. Hold showed large deviation compared to control group that had appeared due to declined larynx and articulation organ motility.

The reliable operation of a swing check valve in the main feed water system of a power plant is most essential for successful shout-down process. A failure to close the valve at proper time often leads to the instability of the main feed water system, or even to an emergency stop of the power plant. In reality it is a very difficult task to monitor the behavior of a swing check valve. Furthermore it is impossible to see the motion of the valve. In this work two measurements were carried out simultaneously to determine the precise valve closure time. The dynamic pressure measurements were made at the inlet and outlet regions of the swing check valve. The transient vibration of the valve housing in the direction of water flow was also measured, which enabled the measurement of the transient vibration of the valve housing near valve closure. By comparing the results produced from these measurements the precise valve closure time could be determined. By carrying out order tracking technique using the dynamic pressure signals and pump rpm signal, the complicated dynamic problems inside the main feed water system can be more easily dealt with. This measurement scheme might be implemented in a power plant on a real-time basis without much difficulty. If this could be implemented, valuable information essential for shut-down operations can readily be passed on to the main control room. The feasibility of this implementation was demonstrated by this experimental work.
Determination of weekly and daily energy expenditure was made on 62 Republic of Korea Army cadets who were selected at random in order to estimate the weekly and daily ealorie expenditure. Basal metabolic rate (B.M.R.), and energy cost of various military and daily activities were measured by indirect calorimetry using open circuit method. Time-motion studies were also carried on using a stop-watch. The total weekly energy expenditure was calculated by summation of data using energy cost per minute, and the time spent on each activity. Determination of daily energy expenditure was deduced from each data of weekly energy expenditure. Food survey was also carried on for a week, and daily calorie intake was determined by a weekly average discounting loss in cooking. All measurements were determined from the Standard Table of Food Composition published by the Ministry of National Defense (1961). Following data were observed. 1. Physical status of cadets are as follows. Please note that the height and weight averages are 1-2cm and 4-5kg respectively over that of the Seoul National University students. First year Height 167.92 cm $(S.D.{\pm}4.09)$ Weight 61.72 kg $(S.D.{\pm}4.53)$ Second year Height 167.89 cm $(S.D.{\pm}3.46)$ Weight 63.01 kg $(S.D.{\pm}4.61)$ Third year Height 168.15 cm $(S.D.{\pm}4.24)$ Weight 43.48 kg $(S.D.{\pm}5.03)$ Fourth year Height 168.10 cm $(S.D.{\pm}3.70)$ Weight 64.02kg $(S.D.{\pm}5.10)$ 2. The B.M.R. of cadets averaged $36.57\;Cal./m^2/hr.(S.D.{\pm}3.63\;Cal./m^2/hr.)$ is almost equal with data on the same ages of civilians and the Japanese, but a lower average of $5.1\;Cal./m^2/hr.$ than that of a common soldier. 3. The energy expenditure during various military activities is close agreement with Consolazio. Passmore and Durnin, and Japanese reports.
