  • The mathematical model has a different response character with the real system because this mathematical model has the modeling errors and the imprecise value of system's parameters. Therefore to find the value of system parameters as possible as near by real value in the model is necessary to design the controlled system. This study concern about the identification method to estimate the parameter for the magnetic bearing system with RCGA(Real Coded Genetic Algorithm). Firstly, we will get the mathematical model from the current amplifier circuit and the magnetic bearing system. Secondly we will get the step response data in this circuit and system. Finally, we will estimate the unknown parameter's value from the data.

  • This paper presents the field-dependent Bingham characteristics and damping force control of an electro-rheological (ER) fluid under squeeze mode operation. The squeeze force of the ER fluid due to the imposed electric field is analyzed and an appropriate size of the disk-type electrode is devised. On the basis of the theoretical model of the ER fluid under squeeze mode operation, the yield stress and response speed of the ER fluid are distilled from the time responses of squeeze force to the step electric potentials. Measured squeeze forces under various excitation conditions are compared with the predicted ones from Bingham model and time constant obtained at the transient response test. In addition, the controllability of the field-dependent damping force of the ER fluid under squeeze mode is experimentally demonstrated by implementing simple PID controller.

  • There are two important variables in machining process control, which are feed and cutting speed. In this work, a two degree-of-freedom controller is designed and implemented to achieve on-line cutting force control based on the modelling of cutting process dynamics which are established through step response test. Two schemes are proposed and implemented. The first is feed control under the constant spindle speed and spindle speed control under the constant fled speed. The second is a simultaneous control of feed and spindle speed. Those are confirmed to work properly. Especially the latter shows a faster response and we'll be evaluated to pare away workpiece by simultaneous control of position and cutting farce sooner or later.

  • This work presents field-dependent Bingham and response characteristics of MR fluids under shear and flow modes. Two different types of magneto-viscometers are designed and manufactured for the shear and flow modes. respectively. For the MR fluid to be tested, MRF-132LD of Lord co. is employed. The field-dependent yield stress is experimentally distilled at various temperatures using the magneto-viscometers. Time responses of the MR fluids to step electric fields are also evaluated under two operating modes.

  • In this paper, a new method for system identification is proposed. Unknown dynamic system is identified to the second order transfer function, which can be applied to PID controller design. First, overshoot$(o_s)$, settling time$(t_s)$, and steady state value$(y_{ss})$ are obtained from the step response of unknown dynamic system. And then, we can get the second order transfer function using equations which are extracted from those three parameters$(o_s,t_s,y_{ss})$ through mathmatical analysis. In addition, simulation is carried out to show excellent performance of proposed identification method compare with other.

  • Stress determination is a very important step in the assessment of the safety of existing reinforced concrete structures. In rock mechanic this goal is achieved with the over-coring technique. The main idea behind such a technique is to isolate a material sample from the stress field in the surrounding mass and monitor its re-equilibrium deformation response. If the materials remains elastic, and elastic properties are known, stresses may be obtained from the corresponding measured strains. The goal of this paper is to evaluate if the over-coring technique is applicable to reinforced concrete members. The results of an experimental investigation on the behaviour of compressed concrete columns subjected to the over-coring technique are presented. Considerations about the range of applicability of the technique are made by comparing the measured and the theoretical stresses. After that, results of failure tests on drilled specimens are presented and discussed. Furthermore, the response is compared with that of columns core-bored before the compressive test. Finally, comparisons with numerical analysis are shown.

  • This paper suggests the use of wavelet multiresolution analysis (WMRA) and neural network for generation of artificial earthquake accelerograms from target spectrum. This procedure uses the learning capabilities of radial basis function (RBF) neural network to expand the knowledge of the inverse mapping from response spectrum to earthquake accelerogram. In the first step, WMRA is used to decompose earthquake accelerograms to several levels that each level covers a special range of frequencies, and then for every level a RBF neural network is trained to learn to relate the response spectrum to wavelet coefficients. Finally the generated accelerogram using inverse discrete wavelet transform is obtained. An example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

  • Some numerical investigations are presented concerning the response of a given plate under turbulence driven excitations. Three different input loads are simulated according to the wall pressure distributions derived from the models proposed by Corcos, Efimtsov and Chase, respectively. Modal solutions (finite element based) are used for building the modal stochastic responses in the sub-critical aerodynamic frequency range. The parametric investigations concern two different values of the structural damping and three values of the boundary layer thickness. A final comparison with available experimental data is also discussed. The results demonstrate that the selection of the adequate TBL input model is still the most critical step in order to get a good prediction.

  • Fuel Cell (FC) has slow response characteristic for load variation. During a load step, the inverter cannot pull more power from the fuel cell than is currently available so supplemental power must be provide by some sort of energy storage elements. In this paper, hi-directional do-dc converter for FC generation system is proposed to improve load response characteristic. The hi-directional converter interfaces the low voltage battery to the inverter dc link of FC generation system. The converter is based on a active full bridge in the primary side and on a half bridge in the secondary of a high frequency isolation transformer. The complete operating principles and simulation results in presented.

  • The hydraulic-oil pump is widely used for building machinery, brake systems of vehicles and automatic control systems due to its high dynamic force and smooth linear force control performance. This paper presents a novel direct instantaneous pressure control of the hydraulic pump system with SRM drive. The proposed hydraulic pump system embeds the pressure controller and direct instantaneous torque controller. Due to the proportional relationship between pump pressure and torque, pressure can be controlled by the motor torque directly. The proposed direct torque controller can reduce inherent torque ripple of SRM, and develop a smooth torque, which can increase the stability of the hydraulic pump. The proposed hydraulic pump system has also fast step response and load response. The proposed hydraulic pump system is verified by computer simulation and experimental results.
