Hydrogenated amorphous silicon(a-Si:H) films which were deposited by plasma enhanced chemical deposition(PECVD) have been recrystallized by the two-step rapid thermal annealing(RTA) employing the halogen lamp. The a-Si:H films evolve hydrogen explosively during the high temperature crystallzation step. In result, the recrystallized polycrystalline silicon(poly-Si) films have poor surface morphology. In order to avoid the hydrogen evolution, the films have undergone the dehydrogenation step prior to the crystallization step Before the RTA process, the active area of thin film transistors (TFT's) was patterned. The prepatterning of the a-Si:H active islands may reduce thermal damage to the glass substrate during the recrystallization. The computer generated simulation shows the heat propagation from the a-Si:H islands into the glass substrate. We have fabricated the poly-Si TFT's on the silicon wafers. The maximun ON/OFF current ratio of the device was over $10^5$.

An experimental study was made of turbulent separated and reattaching flow over a backward-facing step, where unsteady wake was generated by a spoked-wheel type wake generator with cylindrical rods in front of the separated flow. The influence of unsteady wake was scrutinized in terms of the rotating speed of the wake generator (0$\leq$S $t_{H}$$\leq$0.4). A conditional averaging technique in corporation with SBF was employed to elucidate the influence of the unsteady wake on the large-scale vortical structures of the separated flow. Special attention was made during two-dimensional measurements of wall-pressure with or without unsteady wake. The wall-pressure fluctuations were used to predict dipole sound source by Curie's integral formula. It was found that the reduction of the dipole sound source was due to the reduction of turbulent kinetic energy by unsteady wake in the recirculation region.n.

Regression of conventional prediction techniques in data mining uses the model which is generated from the training step. This model is applied to new input data without any change. If this model is applied directly to time series, the rate of prediction accuracy will be decreased. This paper proposes an incremental regression for time series prediction like typhoon track prediction. This technique considers the characteristic of time series which may be changed over time. It is composed of two steps. The first step executes a fractional process for applying input data to the regression model. The second step updates the model by using its information as new data. Additionally, the model is maintained by only recent data in a queue. This approach has the following two advantages. It maintains the minimum information of the model by using a matrix, so space complexity is reduced. Moreover, it prevents the increment of error rate by updating the model over time. Accuracy rate of the proposed method is measured by RME(Relative Mean Error) and RMSE(Root Mean Square Error). The results of typhoon track prediction experiment are performed by the proposed technique IMLR(Incremental Multiple Linear Regression) is more efficient than those of MLR(Multiple Linear Regression) and SVR(Support Vector Regression).

Patterned sapphire substrates (PSS) were fabricated by a simple wet etching process with $SiO_2$ stripe masks and a mixed solution of $H_2SO_4$ and $H_3PO_4$. GaN layers were epitaxially grown on the PSS under the optimized 2-step growth condition of metalorganic vapor deposition. During the 1st growth step, GaN layers with triangular cross sections were grown on the selected area of the surface of the PSS, and in the 2nd growth step, the GaN layers were laterally grown and coalesced with neighboring GaN layers. The density of threading dislocations on the surface of the coalesced GaN layer was $2{\sim}4\;{\times}\;10^7\;cm^{-2}$ over the entire region. The epitaxial structure of near-UV light emitting diode (LED) was grown over the GaN layers on the PSS. The internal quantum efficiency and the extraction efficiency of the LED structure grown on the PSS were remarkably increased when compared to the conventional LED structure grown on the flat sapphire substrate. The reduction in TD density and the decrease in the number of times of total internal reflections of the light flux are mainly attributed due to high level of scattering on the PSS.
Internet technology opens up another domain for building future CAD/CAM environment. The environment will be global, network-centric, and spatially distributed. In this paper, we present a new approach to network-centric virtual prototyping (NetVP) in a distributed design environment. The presented approach combines the current virtual assembly modeling and analysis technique with distributed computing and communication technology fur supporting virtual prototyping activities over the network. This paper focuses on interoperability, shape representation, and geometric processing for distributed virtual prototyping. STEP standard and CORBA-based interfaces allow the bi-directional communication between the CAD model and virtual prototyping model, which makes it possible to solve the problems of interoperability, heterogeneity of platforms, and data sharing. STEP AP203 and AP214 are utilized as a means of transferring and sharing product models. In addition, Attributed Abstracted B-rep (AAB) is introduced as 3D shape abstraction for transparent and efficient transmission of 3D models and for the maintenance of naming consistency between CAD models and virtual prototyping models over the network.

High purity hydrogen, 97-99 vol.%, with CO at just ppm levels was obtained in a fixed bed of iron oxide employing the steam-iron cycle operation with reduction at 823K and oxidation in a steam-$N_2$ mixture at 773K TGA experiments indicated that temperature of the reduction step as well as its duration are important for preventing carbon build-up in iron and the intrusion of $CO_2$ into the hydrogen product. At a reduction temperature of 823K, oxide reduction by $H_2$ was considerably faster than reduction by CO. If the length of the reduction step exceeds optimal value, low levels of methane gas appeared in the off-gas. Furthermore, with longer durations of the reduction step and CO levels in the reducing gas greater than 10 vol.%, carbidization of the iron and/or carbon deposition in the bed exhibited the increasing pressure drop over the bed, eventually rendering the reactor inoperable. Reduction using a reducing gas containing 10 vol.% CO and a optimal reduction duration gave constant $H_2$ flow rates and off-gas composition over 10 redox reaction cycles.

In order to reduce computing time significantly for a large matrix in EFEM of linear waves propagation over ripple beds, each of which is approximated to a multi-step topography, a partition method is presented to calculate reflection coefficients. By use of 10 evanescent modes in the model, the most accurate numerical solutions have been obtained up to date, which show different behaviors of computed reflection coefficient in some cases against the existing results. Both computing time and memory of the present partition model for solving a large matrix are still so much demanding that it is needed to develop an efficient method.

The ammonium salt of N-Nitrosophenylhydroxiamine, namely Cupferron, is a well-known analytical reagent which precipitates a great number of metal ions in acid medium. Various structures of electrode reduction for N-Nitrosophenylhydroxiamine have been suggested in acid and alkaline media by many researchers, but not in neutral medium. So the mechanism of electrode reaction of Cupferron was investigated by both chronopotentiometric and polarographic methods. It was estimated that the reduction of Cupferron occurs in a three-step mechanism through which a chemical step is interposed between two charge transfer, the ECE (charge transfer-chemical reaction-charge transfer) mechanism, over a range of neutral and alkaline media. The chemical reaction of the process was assumed to be acid-base catalyzed from the fact that kapp (over all rate constant) of chemical reaction is pH dependent.

Highly over-expanded nozzle of the rocket engines will be excited by non-axial forces due to flow separation at sea level operations. Since rocket engines are designed to produce axial thrust to power the vehicle, non-axial static and/or dynamic forces are not desirable. Several engine failures were attributed to the side loads. Present work investigate the unsteady flow in an over-expanded rocket nozzle in order to estimate side load during a shutdown/starting. Numerical computations has been carried out with density based solver on multi-block structured grid. Present solver is explicit in time and unsteady time step is calculated using dual time step approach. AUSMDV is considered as a numerical scheme for the flux calculations. One equation Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model is selected. Results presented here is for two nozzle pressure ratio i.e. 100 and 20. At 100 NPR, restricted shock separation (RSS) pattern is observed while, 20 NPR shows free shock separation (FSS) pattern. Side load is observed during the transition of separation pattern at different NPR.
