역률개선형 부분공진 AC-DC 초퍼에 관한 연구 (A Study on Partial Resonant AC-DC Chopper of Power Factor Correction)

  • 본 논문에서는 고역률과 고효율로 동작하는 새로운 스텝-업 AC-DC 초퍼에 대해 제안한다. 제안한 초퍼는 전류 불연속제어로 구동되고, 스위치의 듀티율 일정제어에 의해 입력전류는 교류 입력전압의 크기에 비례된 불연속적인 정현파 형태로 주어진다. 그 결과 입력역률은 거의 단위역률로 되고, 듀티율 일정제어에 의해 제안한 초퍼는 제어기법이 간단하게 된다. 일반적으로 전류불연속 제어에 의한 초퍼의 경우, 사용된 스위치의 턴-온 동작은 영전류 스위칭으로 되는 장점이 있지만, 스위치의 턴-오프 동작은 최대 전류에서 스위칭되어 스위칭 손실을 증대시키고 스위치의 과중한 스트레스를 가져오게 된다. 이것은 AC-DC 초퍼의 효율을 저하시키는 요인이다. 본 논문에서는 부분공진기법에 의한 새로운 소프트 스위칭 회로가 설계되어 사용된 제어스위치들의 턴-온, 턴-오프 동작을 소프트 스위칭으로 만들어 초퍼의 효율을 증대시킨다.

Development of 3 D.O.F parallel robot's simulator for education

  • In this paper, it is developed simulator system of 3 D.O.F parallel robot for educate of expertness. This simulator system is composed of three parts ? 3 D.O.F parallel robot, controller (hardware) and software. First, basic structure of the robot is 3 active rotary actuator that small geared step motor with fixed base. An input-link is connected to this actuator, and this input-link can connect two ball joints. Thus, two couplers can be connected to the input-link as a pair. An end-plate, which is jointed by a ball joint, can be connected to the opposite side of the coupler. A sub-link is produced and installed to the internal spring, and then this sub-link is connected to the upper and bottom side of the coupler in order to prevent a certain bending or deformation of the two couplers. The robot has the maximum diameter of 230 mm, 10 kg of weight (include the table), and maximum height of 300 mm. Hardware for control of the robot is composed of computer, micro controller, pulse generator, and motor driver. The PC used in the controller sends commands to the controller, and transform signals input by the user to the coordinate value of the robot by substituting it into equations of kinematics and inverse kinematics. A controller transfer the coordinate value calculated in the PC to a pulse generator by transforming it into signals. A pulse generator analyzes commands, which include the information received from the micro controller. A motor driver transfer the pulse received from the pulse generator to a step motor, and protects against the over-load of the motor Finally, software is a learning purposed control program, which presents the principle of a robot operation and actual implementation. The benefit of this program is that easy for a novice to use. Developed robot simulator system can be practically applied to understand the principle of parallel mechanism, motors, sensor, and various other parts.

  • The commutation and control in matrix converters is more complicated as in voltage source converters. Natural freewheeling paths do not exist and the theoretic absent storage elements result in a direct coupled system of load and line currents as well as voltages. The paper offers an overview about staggered commutation and control policies in matrix converters. Based on the knowledge about load current direction and the signs of the line to line input voltages different multi-step commutation policies were derived. This paper examines the application of that policies in the case of space vector modulation and direct control methods with the focus on the resulting effects to the reference output voltage deviation.

Single-Ended High-Efficiency Step-up Converter Using the Isolated Switched-Capacitor Cell

  • The depletion of natural resources and renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic (PV) energy, has been highlighted for global energy solution. The PV power control unit in the PV power-generation technology requires a high step-up DC-DC converter. The conventional step-up DC-DC converter has low efficiency and limited step-up ratio. To overcome these problems, a novel high step-up DC-DC converter using an isolated switched capacitor cell is proposed. The step-up converter uses the proposed transformer and employs the switched-capacitor cell to enable integration with the boost inductor. The output of the boost converter and isolated switched-capacitor cell are connected in series to obtain high step-up with low turn-on ratio. A hardware prototype with 30 V to 40 V input voltage and 340 V output voltage is implemented to verify the performance of the proposed converter. As an extended version, another novel high step-up isolated switched-capacitor single-ended DC-DC converter integrated with a tapped-inductor (TI) boost converter is proposed. The TI boost converter and isolated-switched-capacitor outputs are connected in series to achieve high step-up. All magnetic components are integrated in a single magnetic core to lower costs. A prototype hardware with 20 V to 40 V input voltage, 340 V output voltage, and 100 W output power is implemented to verify the performance of the proposed converter.

A Novel High Step-Up Converter with a Switched-Coupled-Inductor-Capacitor Structure for Sustainable Energy Systems

  • A novel step-up DC-DC converter with a switched-coupled-inductor-capacitor (SCIC) which successfully integrates three-winding coupled inductors and switched-capacitor techniques is proposed in this paper. The primary side of the coupled inductors for the SCIC is charged by the input source, and the capacitors are charged in parallel and discharged in series by the secondary windings of the coupled inductor to achieve a high step-up voltage gain with an appropriate duty ratio. In addition, the passive lossless clamped circuits recycle the leakage energy and reduce the voltage stress on the main switch effectively, and the reverse-recovery problem of the diodes is alleviated by the leakage inductor. Thus, the efficiency can be improved. The operating principle and steady-state analyses of the converter are discussed in detail. Finally, a prototype circuit at a 50 kHz switching frequency with a 20-V input voltage, a 200-V output voltage, and a 200-W output power is built in the laboratory to verify the performance of the proposed converter.

  • 동역학 행렬 제어(Dynamic Matrix Control) 기법은 각종 산업 현장에서 가장 활발하게 적용되고 있는 고급 제어 기법으로, 최근에는 공정제어의 표준 기법으로 인식되고 있다. 일반적으로 동역학 행렬 제어에서는 대상 플랜트의 거동을 묘사하기 위하여 계단 응답 모델을 이용한다. 본 논문에서는 화력발전의 관류 보일러-터빈 시스템에 동역학 행렬 제어 기법을 적용한 결과를 제시한다. 먼저 제어를 위해 두 개의 입력변수로 스프레이와 댐퍼를 선정한 후, 두 개의 주요 출력 변수에 대한 계단 응답 모델을 생성하였다. 그 후, 생성된 2 입력 - 2 출력 계단 응답 모델을 바탕으로 한, 동역학 행렬 제어의 최적화 계산을 통해 매 순간 보일러 스팀 온도를 제어하는 구조의 제어기를 설계하였다. 제시된 제어기를 두산(주)의 보일러 시뮬레이션 모델인 APESS에 적용한 결과 만족할 만한 제어 성능을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

비례적분+이중적분 제어기를 이용한 정상상태 응답 개선 (Improvement of Steady State Response Using PI+Double Integral Controller)

  • The performance characteristics of a dynamic control system are evaluated according to the transient and steady-state responses. The transient performance is the controllability of the output for the tracking of the reference or the ability to reduce or reject the effects of unwanted disturbances; alternatively, the steady-state performance is represented by the magnitude of the control error at the steady state. As the effects of the two performances on each other are reciprocal, a controller design that shows a zero steady-state error for the ramp input is uncommon because of the challenge regarding the achievement of an acceptable transient response. This paper proposes a PI+double-integral controller for the elimination of the steady-state error for the ramp input while a sound transient performance is maintained. The control-gain design procedure is described by the second-order response for the step input and the response of the error dynamics for the ramp input. The PI+double-integral controller is designed for the first-order transfer function that is derived from a system identification with the open-loop experiment data of the dc-motor. The simple structure of the proposed controller enables the adoption of a low-end microcontroller for the implementation of a real-time control. The experiment results show that the control performance is as effective as that of the simulation analysis for the operating point of linear system; furthermore, the PI+double-integral controller can be conveniently applied to the control system, which is desirable for the improvement of the steady-state error.

Adaptive Phase-Locked Loop for Process Control System

  • This paper presents the application of adaptive phase-locked loop (adaptive PLL) technique to control the process variable of the process control system. The adaptive algorithm is related to the error. When the error of the system is changed, the adaptive gain will be directly changed according to the error. If the value of the adaptive gain is large, the value of the error will be large. In this experiment, the reference input is 50% step input. The experimental result in controlling the first order lag process by the adaptive PLL shows that the response of the controlled system has no overshoot, short rise time, and zero steady-state error. The experimental result also shows that when the output disturbance enters to the process control system, the adaptive PLL can maintain the stability of the system and the effect of the output disturbance can also be fast rejected.   • This paper describes a step-down AC voltage regulator using an AC chopper and auxiliary transformer, which is a series connected to the main input. The detail design of the AC regulator, logic and PWM pattern of the AC chopper is described and the three-phase AC regulator using two single­phase AC choppers with a three transformer configuration is proposed for three-phase application. The proposed three-phase system has the advantages of lower system cost due to reduced switch number and gate driver circuit as well as advantages of decreased size and weight because it uses a series compensated scheme. The proposed AC regulator has many benefits such as fast voltage control, high efficiency and simple control logic. Experimental results indicate that it can be used as a step-down AC voltage regulator for power saving purposes very efficiently.
