  • This paper proposes column-parallel three step Single Slope Analog-to-Digital Converter (SS-ADC) for high frame rate VGA CMOS Image Sensors (CISs). The proposed three step SS-ADC improves the sampling rate while maintaining the architecture of the conventional SS-ADC for high frame rate CIS. The sampling rate of the three-step ADC is increased by a factor of 39 compared with the conventional SS-ADC. The proposed three-step SS-ADC has a 12-bit resolution and 200 kS/s at 25 MHz clock frequency. The VGA CIS using three step SS-ADC has the maximum frame rate of 200 frames/s. The total power consumption is 76 mW with 3.3 V supply voltage without ramp generator buffer. A prototype chip was fabricated in a $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process.

  • The frequency synthesizer for Fast Frequency Hopping System musy be capable of a fast tuning with a small step frequency over wide band. The most conventional frequency synthesizer that uses the phase locked loop (PLL) enables the wide band problem but have a poor side of the low resolution and the transient response. In this paper, we have discussed the experimental results of a direct digital frequency synthesizer which can be applicable to the Fast Frequency Hopping System, using digital-to-analoq (D/A)conversion techniques. With this system we can find the merits of a fine resolution and the possibility of a fast tuning leaving the problems of transent frequency.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the consistency of the gliding and push-off motion for single leg skating from the first to fourteenth steps. We hypothesized that: 1) there would be no difference in stroke trajectory, step rate, and cycle rate between the left and right steps of gliding; and 2) there would be a difference in the resultant velocity of toe push-off and the horizontal velocity of the center of mass after six step push-offs. Method: The study included five male 500-m speed skaters (mean height, $1.80{\pm}0.02m$; mean weight, $76.8{\pm}3.96kg$; record, $35.83{\pm}0.30sec$; 100-m record, <9.97 sec). Data were collected from the first to fourteenth steps (40 m) and recorded using five digital JVC GR-HD1KR video cameras (Victor Co., Japan) operating at a sampling frequency of 60 fields/sec and shutter speed of 1/500 sec. For each film frame, the joint positions were digitized using the KWON3D motion analyzer. Position data were filtered with low-pass Butterworth $4^{th}$ order at the cut-off frequency of 7.4 Hz. Results: The right toe of the skating trajectories at $2^{nd}$, $5^{th}$, and $7^{th}$ strokes differed from those of the left toe. The angles of the right and left knee demonstrated unbalanced patterns from the flexion and extension legs. The step and cycle rates of the right and left leg differed from the start until 20 m. The resultant velocities of the toe at the push-off phase and of the body mass center diverged before the six push-offs. Conclusion: This study's findings indicate that the toe of skating trajectory on left and right sliding after push-off should maintain a symmetrical trajectory. The resultant velocity of toe push-off and horizontal velocity from the center of body need to be separated after about six step push-offs.

  • For frequency improvement of protoplast fusion in Brevibacterium flavum, Brevibacterium lactofermentum lactofermentum and Corynebacterium glutamicum, the effect of plasma expanders on fusion and cell wall regeneration, compatison between direct and two-step selection method, tendency of fusion frequency according to pH of fusion fluid and polyethylene glycol concentration were examined. By addition of 3% polyvinyl pyrrolidone to cell wall regeneration medium, regeneration frequencies were expressed 23 (Brevibacterium lactofermentum), 10.4 (Brevibacterium flavum) and 2.7 (Corynebacterium glutamicum) times higher than those of none polyvinyl pyrrolidone medium respectively.

  • The traditional approach is to characterize the behavior and performance of fluid film hydrodynamic journal bearings by means of linearized bearing analysis. The objective of this paper is to examine the nonlinear characteristics of the journal bearing when an external sinusoidal shock is given to the system. The oil film force is obtained by solving the finite width Reynolds equation at each time step by the solution of the column method. Frequency response functions obtained from both linear and nonlinear bearing simulations are compared with each other.

  • This paper describes a study of a stabilisation scheme of a stepping motor in the driving systems of the Fiber Optic Gyrocompass absolutely required a constant speed and a precise position control with fine step angle. The new stabilisation scheme combining microstepping control and frequency modulation is developed which enables the experimental machine to be capable of stable running to a stepping frequency in the range 5 times the open-loop stall frequency.

  • This paper presents a compact, low insertion loss, sharp rejection and wide band microstrip band pass filter that is composed rectangular loop resonator and Step-Impedance-Open-Stub(SIOS). The SIOS can be reduce length about 30 % more than general 0.25 $\lambda$ open stub. And the stub can the advantage of tuning impedance magnitude. In order to demonstrate agrement of this paper prove, the optimized wide band pass filters are realized and experimented. A transmission line model used to calculate the frequency response of the new filters shows good agreement with measurements. The filter has 3 dB fractional bandwidth of 51.75 %(3.206 GHz), an insertion loss of better than 0.44 dB from 4.587 GHz to 7.793 GHz, and two rejection of greater than 30 dB within 221 MHz($4.326{\sim}4.587\;GHz$) at low frequency band, 181 MHz($7.739{\sim}7.954\;GHz$) at high frequency band. Maximum rejection characteristics of the filter are -61.8 dB at low frequency and -76.3 dB at high frequency.

  • This paper presents a wide range VCO with fine coarse tuning step using a sigma-delta modulation technique for UWB frequency synthesizer. The proposed coarse tuning scheme provides the low effective frequency resolution without any degradation of phase noise performance. With three steps coarse tuning, the VCO has wide tuning range and fine tuning step simultaneously. The frequency synthesizer with VCO was implemented with 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The tuning range of the VCO is 5.8 GHz~6.8 GHz with the effective frequency resolution of 3.9 kHz. It achieves the measured phase noise of -108 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset and a tuning range 16.8 % with 5.9 mW power. The figure-of-merit with the tuning range is -181.5 dBc/Hz.
