  • It is accomplished on the practical usage for STEP in enterprise. But they has feeble grasp of STEP, therfore it is hard to apply. That is due to take a negative policy with the lack of advertising and understanding, most of studies are going on a studentlike attitude rather than the practical usage or implementation, so they don't know exactly what is STEP, and how can they apply to their own enterprise. This paper aimed to present more detail understanding of STEP usage and practical usage of STEP data in enterprise. We describe EXPRESS that is description method of STEP, four ways of implementation method, and introduce to using ST-Developer and ST-Oracle by STEP Tools Inc. for more detail understand of STEP. Thereafter we propose practical usage of STEP with CAD systems and PDM systems on the knowledge of previous study, and propose total system implementation image on STEP data in enterprise, finally discuss conclusion and luther study issues.

  • Recently developed new step wedge has a small size as $10{\times}10\;cm^2$. It can use central beam, and is affected little by scattered rays emmitted from the neighboring step wedges. It's characteristics are same as the intensity scale method, and are excellent compared with conventional boot strap methods. Moreover, the method using new step wedge is simple in operation, and the characteristics are excellent. Now, the above method using new step wedge can supercede the distance method.

  • We have studied properties of step-edge Junction prepared with crystal orientation of sapphire substrate. The Step on sapphire substrates fabricated by conventional photolithography method and Ar ion milling method. $CeO_2$ buffer layer and in-situ YBCO thin film were deposited on the stepped sapphire substrates by a pulsed laser deposition method with the predetermined optimized condition. The step angle was centre fled low angle of about $25^{\circ}$. The YBCO film thickness was varied to obtain various thickness ratios of the film to the step height in a range from 0.7 to 1.2. I-V curves of junction were showed RSJ-behavior, double junction structure, and hysteresis due to the crystal orientation of substrate.

  • This paper presents an efficient eigensolution method for non-proportionally damped systems. The proposed method is obtained by applying the accelerated Newton-Raphson technique and the orthonormal condition of the eigenvectors to the linearized form of the quadratic eigenproblem. A step length and a selective scheme are introduced to increase the convergence of the solution. The step length can be evaluated by minimizing the norm of the residual vector using the least square method. While the singularity may occur during factorizing process in other iteration methods such as the inverse iteration method and the subspace iteration method if the shift value is close to an exact eigenvalue, the proposed method guarantees the nonsingularity by introducing the orthonormal condition of the eigenvectors, which can be proved analytically. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Detecting the damage of indeterminate trusses is of major importance in the literature. This paper proposes a quick approach in this regard, utilizing a precise mathematical approach based on Finite Element Method. Different to a general two-step method defined in the literature essentially based on optimization approach, this method consists of three steps including Damage-Suspected Element Identification step, Imminent Damaged Element Identification step, and finally, Damage Severity Detection step and does not need any optimizing algorithm. The first step focuses on the identification of damage-suspected elements using an index based on modal residual force vector. In the second step, imminent damage elements are identified among the damage-suspected elements detected in the previous step using a specific technique. Ultimately, in the third step, a novel relation is derived to calculate the damage severity of each imminent damaged element. To show the efficiency and quick function of the proposed method, three examples including a 25-bar planar truss, a 31-bar planar truss, and a 52-bar space truss are studied; results of which indicate that the method is innovatively capable of suitably detecting, for indeterminate trusses, not only damaged elements but also their individual damage severity by carrying out solely one analysis.

  • Single-layer latticed domes with rigid-joint have an advantage in the construction cost and the aesthetic. But, in single-layer latticed domes, the joints are hard to discriminate between pin-joint and rigid-joint, and consisted of semi-rigid joint in practical. And the erection of large roof structures requires special techniques. As one of these special techniques is the Step-Up erection method. This paper verified buckling characteristics of single-Layer lamella domes according to the Joint flexibility under construction by Step-up method. The results are follows: As erection steps increase, the buckling strength decreases. It is occurred the joint buckling by snap through on the top of dome when the joint flexibility close the rigid. And large tensile stress distribution appeared in circumferential member of bottom boundary when the step of construction is low. As the step of construction increase, large compressive stress distribution showed in the top of dome.

  • This study was conducted to examine the usefulness of adding final probing step (step3) in dietary assessment by 24-hour recall method among Korean adults. One-hundred fifty five adults (37 males and 118 females) above 30 years of age who visited hospitals for health examination were recruited at three hospitals in Korea. One day dietary intake was obtained using 24-hour recall method from each subject. Dietary interview was conducted in 3 steps, (1) quick list of foods eaten during the previous day, (2) detailed information of all the foods eaten, (3) the final probing for any items forgotten. Items added at the step3 were identified and contributions of energy and nutrient intakes were calculated. The average duration of interview was 10.5 min, and time spent for each step was 4.12 minute for step 1, 5.62 minute for step 2, and 38 second for step 3. The average number of dishes reported by the subjects added at the step 3 was 2.2. (Males = 2.6, Females = 1.6) Frequently reported dishes in the step 3 were Beverage, Tea, alcohol (37.1%) and Fruits (31.8%). From mean total energy intake of 1,589 kcal (Men = 1,846 kcal, Women = 1,509 kcal), 179 kcal (11.3%) was added at the step 3. In the step 3, nutrient intakes increased significantly except retinol in total subjects and except retinol and cholesterol in males but all nutrients increased significantly in females. The final probing step can add significant information on intakes of foods and many nutrients with only about 38 seconds of interview time. Confirmation of the results with larger samples of different age groups is needed.

  • The Lanczos algorithm is the most commonly used in approximating a small number of extreme eigenvalues for symmetric large sparse matrices. Global communications in MP(Message Passing) parallel computer decrease the computation speed. In this paper, we introduce the s-step Lanczos method, and s-step method generates reduction matrices which are similar to reduction matrices generated by the standard Lanczos method. One iteration of the s-step Lanczos algorithm corresponds to s iterations of the standard Lanczos algorithm. The s-step method has the minimized global communication and has the superior parallel properties to the standard method. These algorithms are implemented on Cray T3E and performance results are presented.

  • In this paper, a new fault detection method for the extended Kalman filter, which uses a N-step predictor, is proposed. The N-step predictor performs the only time propagations for N-step intervals without measurement updates and its output is used as a monitoring signal for the fault detection. A consistency between the extended Kalman filter and the N-step predictor is tested to detect a fault. A test statistic is defined by the difference between the extended Kalman filter and the N-step predictor. The proposed method is applied to strapdown inertial navigation system (SDINS). By computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed method detects a fault effectively.
