왕버들과 굴참나무의 뿌리, 줄기 및 가지에 있어서 이기목부(二期木部)의 해부학적(解剖學的) 비교(比較) (An Anatomical Comparison of the Secondary Xylem in the Branch, Stem and Root of Salix glandulosa and Quercus variavilis)

  • 산공재(散孔材)인 왕버들(Salix glandulosa Seemenn)과 환공재(環孔材)인 굴참나무(Quercus variabilis BI.)의 뿌리, 줄기 및 가지에 있어서 2기(二期) 목부조직(木部組織)을 해부학적(解剖學的)으로 비교관찰(比較觀察)하였다. 굴참나무의 뿌리의 도관분포(導管分布)는 줄기와 달리 산공형(散孔型)이다. 뿌리의 연륜(年輪) 경계(境界)는 양(兩) 수종(樹種)에서 대체(大體)로 불분명(不分明)하다. 도관요소(導管要素) 및 대섬유(大纖維)는 뿌리에서 제일 길고, 가지에서 가장 짧다. 또한 도관(導管)의 직경(直徑)은 뿌리, 줄기, 가지의 순(順)으로 좁아진다. 횡단면상(橫斷面上)에서 도관(導管)의 단위면적당(單位面積當) 분포수(分布數)는 가지에서 제일 많고 뿌리에서 가장 적다. 도관요소(導管要素)의 천공(穿孔)은 두 수종(樹種) 모두 단천공(單穿孔)이고, 천공판(穿孔板)의 경사각(傾斜角)은 뿌리, 줄기, 가지의 순(順)으로 작아진다. 접선단면상(接線斷面上)에서 방사조직(放射組織)은 뿌리가 줄기나 가지에 비(比)해 높은 반면(反面), 단위면적당(單位面積當) 분포수(分布數)는 뿌리에서 줄기나 가지에 비(比)해 적다.

가야금(伽倻琴) 향판재(響板材)의 개선(改善)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Studies on the Improvements for GAYAKUM Sounding Boards)

  • For the purpose of Improving the sounding boards for the conventional GAYAKUM, I was making approximately 202 specimens of radial board, 371 specimens of tangential board by cutting along the grain and the part of stem and 31 specimens of the disjointed traditional GAYAKUM made in Paulownia coreana. And it was conducted to measure specific gravity, dynamic Young's modulus, internal friction, resonant frequency, velosity of sound and width of annual ring by the method of the frexural vibration in a free-free bar in the audio frequency range. And it confirmed the juvenile wood by measuring wood fiber length of specimens. It was also conducted to investigate dynamic properties and moisture absorption by various heat-treatment and to test dynamic Young's modulus and internal friction for the disjointed conventional GAYAKUM. The results obtained were summarized as follow: 1. The Juvenile wood is located within about 7 annual rings from the pith in Paulownia coreana. 2. As increased with the specific gravity, the dynamic Young's modulus had more and more increased, but the internal friction had slightly decreased. 3. I think that radial board would be good for sounding board wood. because radial board is higher than tangential board in dynamic Young's mudulus and internal friction is lower than tangential board. 4. The value of mean dynamic Young's modulus on the conventional GAYAKUM, radial board and tangential board of 604 samples is $0.4283\pm0.037(\times10^{11}dyne/cm^2)$, $0.4316\pm(\times10^{11}dyne/cm^2)$ and $0.4234\pm0.112(\times10^{11}dyne/cm^2)$ respectively. The value of the radial board showed little higher than that of conventional GAYAKUM, but It had a similar tendency between conventional GAYAKUM and tangential board. 5. The annual ring width by four aspect is more narrow in north and west than that of others. 6. The values of specific gravity and dynamic Young's modulus in the mature wood showed higher than those of juvenile wood. 7. As the grain angle in the butt wood more increased to bark from pith, the dynamic Young's modulus were low. Then it was not good for sounding board. 8. It appeared that the heat-treatment for sounding board wood had a more effect to do the treatment of hotiron on surface after heat-treatment during 24 hours in $60^{\circ}C$ temperature. 9. As increased with the temperature, the rate of moisture absorption of heat-treatment wood had decreased. In conclusion, I thought that the sounding board wood for GAYAKUM would had the most effect to do the treatment of hotiron on surface after heat-treatment during 24 hours in $60^{\circ}C$ temperature using the radial board of mature wood.

국산 낙엽송으로 제조한 에코우드포트(Eco Wood pots)의 식물 생장 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Plants Growth on Eco Wood Pots)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop wood pots for create Optimum environment of plant growth using unused wood. to prove this, we examined the effects of cycle of water supply and nutrient concentration in wood pots on plant germination rate and growth factors (leaf number, stem diameter and length). The results are as follows. 1) The growth rate was higher at once of 2 days watering period. This suggests that the growth of the plants was better than that of the less water because the larch pots itself has the water retention capacity inside. 2) Germination rate and growth rate were better than other treatment groups when the concentration of nutrient solution was 0.5%. 3) Nitrogen, available phosphoric acid, and potassium showed higher contents than the nutrient - treated soil at 0.5% concentration of nutrient solution. This indicates that the nutrient solution absorbed from the larch affected the soil and plant growth in the inside.

Allometric equations, stem density and biomass expansion factors for Cryptomeria japonica in Mount Halla, Jeju Island, Korea

  • This study was conducted to develop allometric equations and to determine the stem density and biomass expansion factor (BEF) for the estimation of the aboveground and belowground biomass of Cryptomeria japonica in Jeju Island, Korea. A total of 18 trees were harvested from the 40-year-old C. japonica stands in Hannam experimental forest, Jeju Island. The mean biomass of the C. japonica was $50.4Mg\;ha^{-1}$ in stem wood, $23.1Mg\;ha^{-1}$ in root, $9.6Mg\;ha^{-1}$ in branch, $4.6Mg\;ha^{-1}$ in needle and $4.3Mg\;ha^{-1}$ in stem bark. The diameter at breast height (DBH) was selected as independent variable for the development of allometric equations. To evaluate the performance of these equations, coefficient of determination ($R^2$) and root mean square error (RMSE) were used and results of the evaluation showed that $R^2$ ranged from 71% (root biomass equation) to 96% (aboveground biomass equation) and the RMSE ranged from 0.10 (aboveground biomass equation) to 0.33 (root biomass equation). The mean stem density of C. japonica was $0.37g\;cm^{-3}$ and the mean aboveground BEF was $1.28g\;g^{-1}$. Furthermore, the ratio of the root biomass to aboveground biomass was 0.32.

담배산업유래 바이오매스의 화학성분 및 열분해 특성 평가 (Characterization of Chemical Composition and Thermal Behavior of Biomass Originated from Tobacco Industry)

  • 본 연구에서는 잎담배처리공정 및 궐련제조공정에서 분리되어 배출되는 바이오매스 중에서 가장 많은 양을 차지하는 황색종 주맥 바이오매스의 화학성분, 세포벽 물질 조성 및 비등온 조건에서의 열분해 특성에 대해 분석평가 하였다. 주맥 바이오매스에는 전건시료 기준으로 조회분이 19.1%, 전당성분은 20.7%로 다량 함유되어 있었고, 무기원소 중에는 칼륨이 3.8%, 개별당 중에는 fructose 함량이 6.2%로 가장 많은 것으로 분석되었다. 세포벽 성분 중 리그닌 함량은 3%로 낮았지만 펙틴의 함량은 7%로 높았으며, 홀로셀룰로오스는 전체의 13% 정도를 차지하였고, 이중 $\alpha$-셀룰로오스의 함량은 약 60%, 나머지는 $\beta$$\gamma$-셀룰로오스로 나타났다. 공기기체 조건과 질소기체 조건에서 황색종 주맥의 열분해 특성은 서로 다르게 나타났는데, 특히 산소가 존재하는 공기기체 조건에서는 $473^{\circ}C$$581^{\circ}C$ 온도에서 질소기체 조건에서는 나타나지 않는 열감량 피크들이 DTG 곡선에서 나타났으며, 이 중 $581^{\circ}C$ 온도에서의 피크는 열수추출하여 용해성분을 제거한 주맥의 열분해 시에는 발생하지 않았다. 분리된 용해성 성분을 냉동건조 시킨 후 열감량 분석을 실시한 결과 이 피크가 용해성 성분에서 기인된 것임을 확인할 수 있었다. 주맥 바이오매스의 헤미셀룰로오스와 셀룰로오스 열분해 특성차이는 질소기체 조건에서 더욱 확실하게 구별되어 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

변량지수식을 이용한 전국 상수리나무의 입목수간재적표 추정 (Estimating Stem Volume Table of Quercus Acutissima in South Korea using Variable Exponent Equation)

  • 본 연구는 Kozak 수간곡선모델을 이용하여 우리나라 상수리나무의 입목수간재적표를 개발하고자 수행하였다. 전국의 분포하고 있는 상수리나무를 총 2,700본의 표준목을 벌채하여 수간고별 직경과 수간석해 자료를 수집하여 생장특성을 조사하였다. 수간곡선식의 적합도 검정을 위하여 적합도지수(Fitness index), 편차(Bias), 평균절대편차(Mean Absolute Deviation)를 이용하여 모델의 적합성을 판단하였다. 추정된 모델의 적합도지수는 97%로 나타났고 편차는 0.017, 평균절대편차는 1.118로 높은 적합도를 보였다. 또한 현행재적표와 신규재적표의 재적간의 차이를 분석한 결과, 통계적으로 유의적인 재적차이를 보였다(p = 0.0008, <0.005). 이는 현실림을 반영한 신규재적표를 이용하는 것이 목재자원량의 평가시 손실을 줄이고 국가 및 지자체의 산림통계의 정확도를 향상시킬 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구의 주요한 결과인 추정된 수간곡선식을 이용한 입목수간재적표는 우리나라의 주요 활엽수종인 참나무류 중 상수리나무의 생장 정보 및 합리적 경영을 위한 경영제표가 될 것으로 판단된다.

  • Abiotic-stressed tobacco stems as a non-wooden biomass were analyzed for their chemical characteristics. Light-stressed tobacco stems (LST) have a relatively high nitrogen concentration, much more extractive content, and a similar amount of lignin and higher contents of acid sugars than those of Non stressed tobacco (NST). It also has low cellulose crystallinity and a high degree of condensation. Guaiacyl units having a lower molecular weight distribution consist of rich lignin. Tension stressed tobacco (TST) growth differentiation under tensile stress was significantly different between normal tissue and cell walls, with the exception of the slightly higher cellulose crystallinity observed for.

Physical and Mechanical Properties of Local Styrax Woods from North Tapanuli in Indonesia

  • The objective of this research was to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of three species of Styrax woods from North Tapanuli in Indonesia. The woods were more than 15 years old. Physical properties such as specific gravity, green moisture content, and volume shrinkage were determined by the procedures based on BS-373 standard for small clear specimen. Furthermore, mechanical properties, including modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, compression parallel to grain and hardness were also tested according to the standard. Along the stem direction, the edge section had better properties compared with those near the pith section. And the base section had also better properties than upper section. Based on the specific gravity, all of the Styrax woods in this research were classified into III-IV strength classes. A good dimensional stability was demonstrated by the value of the tangential and radial ratio which reached one. With the consideration of the mechanical properties, Styrax woods were suitable use for raw materials of light construction, furniture and handy craft.

  • 잣나무조림목(造林木)의 연륜구성(年輪構成)(연륜폭(年輪幅)과 추재율(秋材率)에 관(關)하여 조사(調査)한바 연륜폭(年輪幅)은 변재부(邊材部)에서 좁고 심재부(心材部)에서 넓으나 추재율(秋材率)은 그 분포(分布)가 반대(反對)이며 또한 연륜폭(年輪幅)의 크기는 수간중(樹幹中)에서 수관부(樹冠部)>지하부(枝下部)>지제부(地際部)의 경향(傾向)을 보이고 있는데 반(反)하여 추재율(秋材率)은 지제부(地際部)>지하부(枝下部)>수관부(樹冠部)의 관계(關係)를 가지고 있고 또한 연륜폭(年輪幅)과 추재율(秋材率)은 젊은 영계(齡階)에서는 그 변이(變異)가 심하여 재질(材質)이 비교적(比較的) 불안정(不安定)하나 수심(髓心)으로부터 약(約) 12-15년륜이후(年輪以後)의 재부(材部)에서는 그 변이(變異)가 적어 재질(材質)이 안정(安定)되어 있다. 한편 변재부(邊材部)에서의 연륜폭(年輪幅)과 추재율(秋材率)은 지상고(地上高)의 증가(增加)에 따라 거의 일정불변(一定不變)한 안정(安定)된 영역(領域)과 증감(增減)되는 두 영역(領域)으로 구분(區分)되며 그 한계(限界)가 되는 지상고(地上高)는 약(約) 7m이다. 연륜폭(年輪幅)과 추재율(秋材率)사이에는 부(負)의 상관(相關)이 있다.

Comparative Histomorphology on Low and High Rubber Yielding Guayule Varieties of India

  • A preliminary comparative histodimensional studies, such as wood to bark ratio, total area of parenchyma cells and bast fibers, height and diameter of vascular rays, pith diameter and phenological parameters, height of the plant, perimeter of the stem, dry weight of the stem and leaves have been investigated for the low and high rubber bearing Guayule plants growing in same and different climatic regions of India. A plausible correlation is found between the percentage of rubber content and anatomical characters in the investigated varieties.
