Development of simulation model for fuel efficiency of agricultural tractor

  • The objective of this study is to predict the fuel efficiency of an agricultural tractor. The fuel efficiency of the tractor during rotary tillage was predicted using numerical modeling. A numerical model was developed using Simulation X. Based on tractor power flow, numerical modeling consisted of an engine, transmission, PTO (power take off), and hydraulics. The specifications of major components utilized in the numerical model were the same as those of a 71 kW tractor (field test tractor). The load that was inputted for fuel efficiency prediction into the simulation model was obtained from a field test. Fuel efficiency predictions were conducted by comparing field test results and simulation results. In addition, it was performed by dividing the rotary tillage and steering section. Main results are as follows: first, t-values of engine torque were measured to be 0.31 in the rotary tillage and 0.92 in the steering section. Second, t-values of fuel consumption were measured to be 0.51 and 5.41 in the rotary tillage and the steering section, respectively. Finally, t-values of fuel efficiency were measured to be 1.72 and 40 in the rotary tillage and the steering section, respectively. The results show no significant differences with t-values of less than 5% in the rotary tillage. But, it shows significant differences in the steering section. Therefore, simulation for accurate fuel efficiency prediction requires a suitable algorithm or detailed design of the simulation model in the steering section.

동작분석기법을 이용한 조향동작에 대한 팔의 생체역학적 특성분석 (Biomechanical Analysis of Arm Motion during Steering Using Motion Analysis Technique)

  • 본 논문은 장비의 동작분석기법을 이용하여 운전자가 핸들을 돌릴 때 팔의 관절 운동에 대한 생체역학적 해석을 수행하였다. 모형 운전석에서 운전자가 핸들을 돌릴 때 모션 캡쳐(motion capture) 시스템을 이용하여 팔의 3차원 운동궤적을 구하고, 이 결과를 이용하여 팔의 근-골격계 모델에 대한 역기구학 해석과 역동역학 해석을 수행함으로써 팔 관절의 변위와 관절 토크의 크기를 계산하였다. 각 관절의 회전 운동은 동시에 복합적으로 발생하며, 관절 운동의 크기의 관점에서 팔꿈치 관절의 회내-회외, 어깨 관절의 내전-외전, 굴곡-신전, 손목 관절의 굴곡-신전 등이 주요한 운동임을 확인할 수 있었다. 모형 운전석의 운전 자세, 핸들의 각도 및 좌석에 대한 상대적 위치와 관련된 설계변수에 대한 관절운동의 민감도 해석을 통하여 운전 자세와 핸들의 위치가 조향 동작에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 분석하였다.

  • This paper describes a coordinated control algorithm for rear-side collision avoidance. In order to assist driver actively and increase driver's safety, the proposed coordinated control algorithm is designed to combine lateral control using a steering torque overlay by Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) and differential braking by Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). The main objective of a combined control strategy is twofold. The one is to prevent the collision between the subject vehicle and approaching vehicle in the adjacent lanes. The other is to limit actuator's control inputs and vehicle dynamics to safe values for the assurance of the driver's comfort. In order to achieve these goals, the Lyapunov theory and LMI optimization methods has been employed. The proposed coordinated control algorithm for rear-side collision avoidance has been evaluated via simulation using CarSim and MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Reliability and safety of steer-by-wire concepts can be achieved by redundant designs. This paper discusses the design of a fault tolerant concept for a force feedback actuator with a standard three-phase PMSM. In contrast to usual drives, the phases of the machine are separated electrically. This design allows driving the machine with two instead of three phases in case of a fault. A superimposed torque controller adjusts the influence of fault currents and torque harmonics in two-phase operation and guarantees smooth torque at the steering wheel

  • This paper presents a design and characteristics analysis of a SRM drive for EPS(Electrically Power Steering) application. A conventional driving room space and mechanical structure are suggested in design stage. In the restricted design conditions, motor parameters are determined for sufficient torque and speed. For the smooth torque generation and simple circuit of power system, 12/8 motor drive is considered. With FEM and magnetic circuit analysis, designed motor is simulated to meet the requirement of specifications. Effectiveness of the suggested SRM drive for EPS application is verified by the manufactured prototype motor drive tests.

  • This paper deals with the design of a inner rotor type Brushless DC (BLDC) motor for Electric Power Steering to reduce the cogging torque. The effect of the design parameters on the characteristic and cogging torque is analyzed by Finite Element Method (FEM). The considered design parameters are as follows : the number of pole and slot. dead-zone and skew angle. and teeth shape. The winding resistance of each motor is calculated and the characteristic curve is derived from considering reactance drop voltage for original model.

  • The mechanical vibration of a PM synchronous motor at low speeds due to the back emf harmonics may be serious problems in some application such as MDPS(Motor driven power steering), electric vehicles. In this paper, torque ripple reduction for an interior PM synchronous motor including back emf harmonics is proposed. The dq flux linkage harmonics of the permanent magnet are estimated on real time by using the dq currents of the real system and the model of the MRAS observer. Based on the estimated flux linkage harmonics, the dq harmonic currents for reducing the torque ripples are compensated on the dq reference currents. The estimation of the flux linkage harmonics by the MRAS observer and the torque ripple reduction of the proposed algorithm was verified by the simulation and experiment.

Modeling and Analysis of a Novel Two-Axis Rotary Electromagnetic Actuator for Fast Steering Mirror

  • This paper focuses on the modeling and analysis a novel two-axis rotary normal-stress electromagnetic actuator with compact structure for fast steering mirror (FSM). The actuator has high force density similar to a solenoid, but its torque output is nearly a linear function of both its driving current and rotation angle, showing that the actuator is ideal for FSM. In addition, the actuator is designed with a new cross topology armature and no additional axial force is generated when the actuator works. With flux leakage being involved in the actuator modeling properly, an accurate analytical model of the actuator, which shows the actuator's linear characteristics, is obtained via the commonly used equivalent magnetic circuit method. Finally, numerical simulation is presented to validate the analytical actuator model. It is shown that the analytical results are in a good agreement with the simulation results.

파워스티어링 오일펌프용 풀리의 피로수명을 고려한 형상최적화 (Shape Optimization Considering Fatigue Life of Pulley in Power-Steering Pulley)

  • The pulley is one of core mechanical elements in the power steering system for vehicles. The pulley operates under both the compressive loading and the torque. Therefore, to assure the safety of the power steering system, it is very important to investigate the durability and the optimization of the pulley. In this study, the applied stress distribution of the pulley under high tension and torsion loads was obtained by using finite element analysis. Based on these results the fatigue life of the pulley with the variation of the fatigue strength was evaluated by a durability analysis simulator. The results at 50% and 1% for the failure probability were compared with respect to the fatigue life. In addition to the optimum design for the fatigue life is obtained by the response surface method. The response function utilizes the function of the life and weight factors. Within range for design life condition the minimization of the weight, one of the formulation, is obtained by the optimal design. Moreover the optimum design by considering its durability and validity is verified by the durability test.

전륜 인휠모터 후륜구동 차량의 선회 특성 변형을 위한 요모멘트 제어 (Yaw Moment Control for Modification of Steering Characteristic in Rear-driven Vehicle with Front In-wheel Motors)

  • This paper presents yaw moment control for modification of steering characteristic in rear-driven vehicle with front in-wheel motors (IWMs). The proposed control algorithm is designed to modify yaw rate response of the test vehicle. General approach for modification of steering characteristic is to define the desired yaw rate and track the yaw rate. This yaw rate tracking method can cause the chattering problem because of the IWM actuator response. Large overshoot and settling time in IWM torque response can amplify the oscillation in control input and yaw rate. To resolve these problems, open-loop IWM controller for cornering agility was designed to modify the understeer gradient of the vehicle. The proposed algorithm has been investigated via the computer simulations and the vehicle tests. The performance evaluation has been conducted on dry asphalt using E-segment test vehicle. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been compared to general yaw rate tracking algorithm in the vehicle tests. It has been shown that the proposed control law improved the cornering agility without chattering problem.
