대형 UTM을 이용한 강관합성 말뚝재료의 강도 특성 평가 (Evaluation on compressive strength of steel-concrete composite piles using a large scaled UTM(Universal Test Machine))

  • Various model piles with different sections such as reinforced concrete, steel, steel-concrete composite without rebar and steel-concrete composite with rebar were made, and vertical load test was conducted using a large scaled UTM(Universal Test Machine) to evaluate Young's modulus and ultimate load of the model piles. Based on the tests, ultimate load of steel-concrete composite pile is 31% greater than the sum of it of reinforced concrete pile and it of steel pile. This is caused that ultimate load and Young's modulus of inner concrete increase due to confining effect by outer steel casing. Variation of ultimate load is also insignificant depending on the ratio of length to diameter(L/D), therefore bucking has not an effect on change of ultimate load in case of the L/D below 10.

  • In this paper, a case study of drivability and bearing capacity of large diameter steel pipe piles at PTT LNG site in Thailand is introduced. The LNG facilities were designed to be founded on steel pipe pile foundations driven into the weathered rock formation overlaid by sand layers. The drivability analyses of open ended pipe piles were carried out using GRL WEAP program and the bearing capacities of the piles were estimated. Dynamic load tests were performed to evaluate end bearing resistance, and it is shown that the measured end bearing resistance is smaller than the calculated end bearing because the plugging does not develop sufficiently in case of large diameter pipe piles.

지반조건의 변화가 개단강관말뚝의 거동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Soil Conditions on the Behavior of Open -Ended Steel Pipe Pile)

  • 지반조건이 개단강관말뚝의 거동에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 응력상태와 상대밀도의 조절이 가능한 토조내에 포설된 모래지반에서 모형말뚝실험이 수행되었다. 모형말뚝은 개단강관 말뚝의 각 부분에 작용하는 지지력을 분리측정하기 위하여 직경이 다른 두개의 파이프로 만들어졌다. 실험결과에 의하면 모래지반에 타입된 개단말뚝의 폐색정도와 관입저항력은 지반의 수직응력보다는 수평응력과 상대밀도에 의하여 좌우되었으며, 관내토지지력과 외주면마찰력, 그리고 전체 지지력도 수직응력보다는 수평응력과 상대밀도에 의하여 주로 영향받는 것으로 나타났다. 또 한 말뚝 외벽에 작용하는 수평응력은 원지반의 응력상태와는 관계없이 조밀한 지반의 경우에는 원지반의 수평응력보다 크게, 보통상태의 지반에서는 원지반과 비슷하게, 그리고 매우 느슨한 지반에서는 원지반보다 작게 측정되었다. 원지반의 수평응력에 대한 말뚝 설치후의 말뚝 외벽에 작용하는 수평응력의 비는 주어진 모래지반의 경우 원지반의 수평응력과 관계없이 상대밀도에 따라 일정한 값으로 나타났다.

  • For the development of load and resistance factor design, reliability analysis is required to calibrate resistance factors in the framework of reliability theory. The distribution of measured-to-predicted pile resistance ratio was constructed based on only the results of load tests conducted to failure for the assessment of uncertainty regarding pile resistance and used in the conventional reliability analysis. In other words, successful pile load test (piles resisted twice their design loads without failure) results were discarded, and therefore, were not reflected in the reliability analysis. In this paper, a new systematic method based on Bayesian theory is used to update reliability index of driven steel pile piles by adding more pile load test results, even not conducted to failure, into the prior distribution of pile resistance ratio. Fifty seven static pile load tests performed to failure in Korea were compiled for the construction of prior distribution of pile resistance ratio. Reliability analyses were performed using the updated distribution of pile resistance ratio and the total load distribution using First-order Reliability Method (FORM). The challenge of this study is that the distribution updates of pile resistance ratio are possible using the load test results even not conducted to failure, and that Bayesian update are most effective when limited data are available for reliability analysis or resistance factors calibration.

기성말뚝의 지지력 거동해석과 시공관리방안 (Bearing Capacity and Control Method of Driven Piles)

  • Dynamic load and static load tests are performed on steel pipe piles and concrete piles at five construction sites in highway to compare the difference of load bearing mechanisms. At each site, one steel pile is instrumented with electric strain gages and dynamic tests are performed on the pile during installation. Damages of strain gages due to the installation are checked and static test is performed upon the same pile after two or seven days as well. It shows that load transfer from side friction to base resistance behaves somewhat differently according to the results of load-settlement analysis obtained from PDA and static load test. Initial elastic stage of load settlement curves of two load tests is almost similar. But after the yielding point, dynamic resistance of pile behaves more stiffer than static resistance, thus, dynamic load test result might overestimate the real pile capacity compared with static result. Analysis of gage readings shows that unit skin friction increases exponentially with depth. The skin friction is mobilized at the 1∼2m above the pile tip and contributes to the considerable side resistance. Comparison of side and base resistances between the measured value and the calculated value by Meyerhof's bearing capacity equation using SPT N value shows that the calculated base resistance is higher than the measured. Therefore, contribution of side resistance to total capacity shouldn't be ignored or underestimated. Finally, based upon the overall test results, a construction control procedure is suggested.

  • The working load at pile is sometimes subjected to not only compression load but also lateral load and uplift forces. Pile foundation is essential and uplift load can be applied because of buoyancy, a typhoon, wind or seismic forces. This study was carried out to determine the uplift capacity of concrete pile foundation driven in clay. Pile was driven in clay, between pile and clay adhesion factor was estimated, and it is the mean value between the cast-in-situ-pile and steel pipe pile. When pile foundation is loaded for long time, creep behavior occurs. The behavior of creep is originated from the clay creep contacted with pile. The creep behavior of pile foundation embedded in clay is heavily depended on the thickness of clay around the pile shaft, pore water pressure in clay, and creep behavior of clay.

  • 강 콘크리트 합성구조에서 강재와 콘크리트 사이의 경계면에 효과적인 응력전달과 합성거동을 유도하기 위하여 스터드, 채널, 유공강판 등이 사용된다. 많은 연구자들이 여러 종류의 전단연결재의 특성을 개선시키기 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 확대기초와 말뚝과의 합성을 위해 개방형 퍼포본드로 보강된 강관 말뚝머리의 인발 및 압발거동을 분석하였다. 다양한 변수해석에서 요구되는 자료를 제공하고자 비선형 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ABAQUS를 사용하여 매개변수 해석을 수행하였다.

  • To analyze a bearing capacity for pile groups, a number of model tests have been done and theoretical methods studied. In the case of design of group pile bearing capacity is calculated with only pile capacity. But uncertainty of bearing capacity and behavior of foundation cap(raft) leads to conservative design ignoring bearing effects of foundation cap. In the case of considering bearing capacity of foundation cap, the simple sum of bearing capacity of foundation cap and pile groups cannot be the bearing capacity of total foundation system. Since cap-pile-soil interaction affects the behavior of pile groups. Thus, understanding cap-pile-soil interaction is very important in optimal design. In this paper, the piled raft behavior is studied through model tests of 2$\times$2, 2$\times$3, 3$\times$3 pile group. Changes of behavior of pile group foundation by touching effects of foundation cap with soil are studied. Also changes of spacing between piles. Foundation cap is made of rigid steel plate and piles are made steel pipes. From this model tests, the changes of behavior changes of pile groups by touching effects of foundation cap with soil are studied.

  • On processing of the shipbuilding, Various steel plates are used as the important material in many fields including the shell plate, a structure, etc. Therefore, the proper steel plate management system like a warehousing, pile, delivery is very important. Presently Operators manage the steel plate by using the software program, but they manage many parts manually, so many problems are generated on the steel plate check, management, and operator safety. In order to solve this problem, we developed Auto Steel-Plate Piling System. Also this system automatically manages and traces the steel-plate from warehousing to delivery.

  • Engineers should be careful in the design of bonding piles into pile caps because they are weak points in the pile foundation. Therefore in this study, the mechanism of bonding piles into pile caps was explained, and the design method of the composite bonding method was proposed. And the proposed design method was verified in comparison with the result of the full scale test. Also, the characteristic for the bearing capacity and the mechanism of compressive load of bonding method were analyzed.
