Development of Internal Reforming Catalysts and Catalysts Forming Method using Homogeneous Precipitation (균일용액침전법을 이용한 내부개질촉매의 개발과 성형방법에 대한 연구)

  • 용융탄산염 연료전지(MCFC)는 $650^{\circ}C$에서 작동하는 고온형 연료전지 시스템이다. 이 시스템은 천연가스 등을 개질하여 생산된 수소를 바로 전기로 생산할 수 있는 시스템으로 열효율이 높으며, 현재 대체 발전시스템으로 각광을 받고 있다. MCFC는 개질방식에 따라 내부개질 방식과 외부개질 방식이 있다. 내부개질 방식은 수소를 생산하는 개질기가 스택내부에 장착된 형식으로 천연가스를 스택내부에서 개질하여 바로 전기를 생산하는 방식이다. 이 내부개질반응에 사용되는 촉매로는 알루미나에 담지된 니켈(Ni) 계열촉매이 주로 쓰이고 있다. 또한 내부개질촉매의 형태는 작은 원주형의 촉매형태로 성형되어 사용된다. 이 성형된 촉매의 크기가 바로 내부개질 스택의 크기를 결정하는 중요한 요소이다. 그래서 촉매의 크기는 되도록이면 작게 성형하는 것이 중요하다. 그러나 촉매의 크기가 너무 작으면 촉매를 성형하는데 큰 어려움이 생기게 된다. 본 연구에서는 니켈 촉매를 공침법이 아닌 균일용액침전법을 이용하여 제조하였으며, 이 촉매를 이용하여 지름이 약 2 mm 이하로 촉매를 압출성형하는 방법을 연구하였다. 먼저 요소(urea)를 이용한 균일용액침전법으로 촉매를 제조하였다. 최적의 촉매 합성조건을 살펴보기 위해서, 반응 온도를 80, 85, 90, 95, $100^{\circ}C$로 변화 시키면서 제조된 촉매의 특성을 살펴보았다. 그리고 촉매의 적절한 니켈 양을 알아보기 위해서 니켈의 양을 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 wt%로 변화 시켰으며, 조촉매로 사용되는 MgO 양을 5, 10, 15, 20 wt%로 변화 시켜서 제조된 촉매의 특성을 살펴보았다. 물성을 비교하기 위해서, X-선 회절분석(XRD) 및 TPR, 물리화학흡착을 하였다. 그 결과 침전반응온도가 $80^{\circ}C$에서 촉매가 가장 좋은 물성을 보였으며, 우수한 개질성능을 보였다. 그리고 촉매 활성물질인 니켈의 함량은 50 wt% 정도가 가장 적절한 함량이었으며, MgO의 함량이 15 wt%일 때 가장 우수한 물성과 개질 성능을 보여주었다. 이 촉매들은 공침법으로 제조된 상용촉매와 비교하였을 때, 보다 우수한 물성과 개질성능 보였다. 그래서 이 촉매를 균일침전법을 이용하여 대량으로 제조한 다음 압출성형 방법을 이용하여 촉매를 원주형으로 제조하였다. 먼저 제조된 촉매는 별도의 분쇄작업(볼밀 혹은 제트밀)을 거치지 않아도 입자사이즈가 약 $4{\mu}m$ 수준이 나오도록 촉매 제조조건을 조절 하였다. 그리고 소량의 Methyl cellulose(MC) 바이더와 물만 사용하여 촉매를 혼합한 다음 스크류 압출기를 이용하여 촉매를 성형하였다. 이 촉매는 지름이 약 2 mm 이하로 제조할 수 있었으며, 기계적 강도는 타정기로 성형한 상용촉매보다 우수하였다. 그리고 촉매 성능 또한 상용촉매와 비교하였을 때, 우수한 성능 보였다. MCFC용 내부개질 촉매로 균일용액침전법을 사용한 촉매가 적합하다고 판단되며, 압출성형에도 적합하다고 판단되었다.

  • The composition and chemical structures of same individual components of essential oils from ginger flavor plants were estimated by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spetrometric analysis with the aid of NBS and Wiley library and RI indice searches. Through gas chromatography and gas chromatography /mass spetrometry analysis of 43, 41, 32 essential oil components from flowers, leaves and stems from Lindera obstusiloba., respectively were identified, among which sabinene, $\beta$-myrcene, ι-limonene, phelandrene, ${\gamma}$-selinene, $\alpha$-terpinene, 2, 4a, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 9a -octahydro benzocycloheptane, $\delta$-cadinene, ${\gamma}$-terpinene, (Z) -3-hexen-1-ol acetate, ${\gamma}$-elemene, l-boreneol, $\delta$-guaiene, ledene, cis-3-hexanal, elemol, $\alpha$-chamigrene, $\beta$-endesmol: 9-octadecanal, 1-(1, 5-diMe-4-hexenyl)-4-Me. benzene were estimated to be major components.

  • In this paper the result of heat transfer analysis around the square heat source of interior solid by using the F. E. M is reported. Calculation for temperature distribution and each element was used by F. E. M. the solid is sub-divided into system of equal size triangular shape. These values of temperature distribution will valuable for design of jet engine and steam generator and the results gained are as follow; 1. Calculation by F. E. M is identified with the experiment. 2. Temperature distribution on the horizontal surface is $\theta$=0.698 in model 4 and the other hand $\theta$=0.401 in model 6 for X=16cm. In intermediates surface between heat source and bottom surface, the influence of L is more greater than that of height in the temperature difference. 3. Temperature distribution on the vertical surface for model 2 is resulted strong influence by K. In the case of Y=4cm is identified with $\theta$=0.0790 for K=7 and also $\theta$=0.0036 for K=0.3. Characteristics of Volatile Flavor Compounds of Fuji Apples by Different Extraction Methods (추출방법에 따른 후지사과의 휘발성 향기성분 특성)

  • The characteristics of volatile flavor compounds of Fuji apples were compared by different extraction methods for information leading to a natural fragrance development. The volatile flavor components of Fuji apples were extracted using simultaneous steam distillation and extraction (SDE), solvent extraction (SE), and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) methods and then analyzed by gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer. A total of 66, 32 and 54 components were identified in SDE, SE and SPME extracts, respectively. (E,E)-$\alpha$-Farnesene, hexanol, butanol, 2-methyl butanol, hexyl hexanoate, hexyl 2-methyl butanoate, hexyl butanoate, and butyl hexanoate were the major flavor components in the extracts by different methods, but the composition of volatiles in the extracts were different. Alcohols and hydrocarbons were the major functional groups in SDE and SE extract whereas esters and hydrocarbons were the major functional groups in SPME extracts. SPME was the most suitable method for analysis of fresh volatiles from Fuji apples.

Effects of Antioxidant and Flavor Compionents of Zingiber mioga Rosc (양하의 항산화 효과 및 향기성분)

  • In order to promote utilization of the Yangha (Zinger mioga Rosc.) as functional food and natural spices, and 95.93%, from the dried one 7.63%, and from powder 9.81%, respectively. Crude protein content from the Yangha powder was 11.21%, and contents of crude fat, crude ash and crude fiber were 2.44%,10.78%, and 14.47%, respectively. Most of compositions from Yangha powder were higher than those from raw and the dried one, except fer water content. Antioxidative effect was investigated through Rancimat and DPPH methods. Oxidative stability of Yangha powder was the highest of4.21Al. Furthermore, the free radical scavenging activity of Yangha powder (76.61%) was higher than that of raw (49.35%) or the dried one (61.78%). Volatile flavor compounds of Yangha was extracted by steam distillation and extraction method. The extracts were analyzed and identified by gas chromatography and GC-MS spectrometry. One hundred twenty two volatile flavor components were identified, and the major component was terpene compounds including ${\alpha}$-pinene, ${\beta}$-pinene, ${\beta}$-phellandrene, 1,4-terpineol, and ${\beta}$-terpinene.

The effect of MgO content on highly active Ni-MgO-$Al_2O_3$ catalysts prepared by homogeneous precipitation method (균일용액침전법으로 제조한 MgO 함량에 따른 고활성 Ni-MgO-$Al_2O_3$ 촉매에 대한 연구)

MCFC는 개질방식에 따라 내부개질 방식과 외부개질 방식이 있다. 내부개질 방식은 수소를 생산하는 개질기가 스택내부에 장착된 형식으로 천연가스를 스택내부에서 개질하여 바로 전기를 생산하는 방식이다. 이 내부개질반응에 사용되는 촉매로는 알루미나에 고함량 (약 50 wt.%)으로 담지된 니켈(Ni) 계열촉매이 주로 쓰이고 있다. 이 고함량으로 담지된 촉매는 대부분 높은 활성을 보인다. 비교적 낮은 온도 운전조건 (약 $580{\sim}620^{\circ}C$)을 가지는 MCFC 내부개질에 적용하기 위해서는 활성점인 니켈을 최대한 담지체에 고르게 분산 시켜야한다. 이를 위해서 MgO를 이용하여 촉매의 활성점을 높게 분산시키는 연구를 진행 하였다. 촉매를 제조하는 방법으로 요소(urea)를 이용한 균일용액침전법을 이용하였다. 니켈함량은 50 wt.%로 고정을 한 다음, MgO 양과 $Al_2O_3$ 양을 각각 0 ~ 45 wt.%와 5 ~ 50 wt.%로 조절하면서 촉매를 제조하여 그 특성들을 분석하였다. 물성을 비교하기 위해서, X-선 회절분석 (XRD) 및 TPR, 물리화학흡착 실험을 하였다. 촉매의 활성을 살펴보기 위해서, fresh 상태 및 피독 상태에서 메탄수증기 개질활성 실험을 실시하였다. MgO 함량이 없거나 적은 촉매에서는 높은 BET surface area와 작은 NiO, metallic Ni 결정 크기가 나타났다. 반면 MgO 함량이 높은 촉매에서 낮은 BET surface area와 비교적 큰 NiO, metallic Ni 결정 크기가 나타났다. 또한 XRD 분석에서 MgO 함량이 증가할 수 록 MgO 결정 피크가 명확히 나타났으며, $MgAl_2O_4$ 피크는 나타나지 않았다. TPR 분석에서 촉매들의 환원 피크를 측정한 결과, 저함량의 MgO를 포함한 촉매는 $700^{\circ}C$ 부근에 환원 피크가 관찰되었고 MgO가 고함량인 촉매는 환원 피크가 $400^{\circ}C$ 부근에서 관찰되었다. 촉매의 초기 fresh 상태에서의 활성은 고함량 MgO를 포함한 Ni-90M10A 샘플을 제외하고 모든 촉매가 거의 비슷하게 나타났다. 그러나 $K_2CO_3$ 피독 상태에서는 MgO 함량이 증가할 수 록 활성이 좋지 않았음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 MgO가 소량 포함된 촉매의 경우 fresh 상태에서는 우수한 물성과 활성을 보이지만, 피독상태에서는 MgO가 포함되지 않은 Ni-$Al_2O_3$ 촉매가 우수한 활성을 보였다.

A Study on the Testing of Weather Resistance of Anti-corrosion Wax Covering Agents in the Locomotive at Jangdan Station of Gyeongui Line (경의선장단역증기기관차의 부식방지를 위한 왁스계 피복제 내후성 시험 연구)

  • To preserve steel cultural properties on display outdoors, the surface of these relics is processed with a covering treatment, which is a typical anti-corrosion method. Since the registered cultural heritage of Korea No. 78 Locomotive at Jangdan Station of Gyeongui Line will be treated by preservation process and displayed in the open outdoor area, effective surface covering agents were selected through testing to prevent the corrosion of the locomotive. The mixed wax are based on two types of microcrystalline wax which is one of regular surface covering agents for locomotives and bee‘s wax. For the weather resistance test, 3 types of wax were applied to each specimen of the locomotive and the specimens were tested in the Xenon-Arc Accelerated Weathering Tester for 1000 hours in accordance with the ISO 4892-1981 criteria and the test results were compared. As a result, on the surface of the specimen coated with the bee's wax, a whitening event appears after 400 hours which causes aging, and the specimens coated by the microcrystalline wax showed signs of a whitening event after 800 hours. The moisture contact angle with the microcrystalline wax coating was also less than with the bee's wax. Therefore, it was found that the high temperature microcrystalline wax is the most effective coating agent in terms of weather resistance and moisture blocking capability and the high temperature microcrystalline wax was adopted for coating the surface of the locomotive.

Changes in Volatile Constituents of Zingiber officinale Roscoe Rhizomes During Storage (생강 저장 중의 향기성분 변화)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the changes in volatile constituents concerning with the flavor of the green ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) during storage in underground pit ($15^{\circ}C$, RH 95%). And the constituents of essential oil of etiolated shoots formed on the mother rhizomes during the five months storage in the dark under same conditions were compared with those of mother rhizomes. The essential oils of Korean domestic ginger (Bong-dong cultivar) were isolated by simultaneous steam distillation and extraction method (SDE). Then the compositions of the essential oils were analysed by GC and GC-MS spectrometry. The major compounds of essential oil from the fresh rhizomes were zingiberene, $citronellol+{\beta}-sesquiphellandrene$, ${\beta}-phellandrene$, camphene, geranial, ${\gamma}-bisabolene$, ar-curcumene+geranyl acetate, ${\alpha}-pinene$, ${\beta}-gurjunene$, limonene and neral. The content of monoterpene hydrocarbons increased with a concomitant lowering in the amounts of sesquiterpene hrdrocarbons and oxygenated sesquiterpenes during storage of rhizomes although contents of the oxygenated monoterpens changed little or slightly during the storage. During the storage the content of such monoterpenes as camphene, ${\beta}-phellandrene$ and citral (neral and geranial) increased whereas the content of such sesquiterpenes as zingiberene and $citronellol+{\beta}-sesquiphellandrene$ decreased. The composition of shoot oil differed from that of mother rhizome oil in having higher content of terpene hydrocarbons and also in the higher content of bornyl acetate, ${\beta}-gurjunene$ and ar-curcumene+geranyl acetate and lower in citral (neral and geranial).

  • The combined cycle power plant has a cycle of operating the gas turbine with fuel, such as natural gas, and then producing steam using residual heat. The fuel gas is supplied to the gas turbine at a level of 4 to 5 MPa, $200^{\circ}C$ through a compressor and a heat exchanger. In this study, the risk assessment method considering the piping system stress was carried out for safe operation and soundness of the gas fuel supply piping system. The API 580/581 RBI code, which is well known for its risk assessment techniques, is limited to reflect the effect of piping stress on risk. Therefore, the systematic stress of the pipeline is analyzed by using the piping analysis. For the study, the piping system stress analysis was performed using design data of a gas fuel supply piping of a combined cycle power plant. The result of probability of failure evaluated by the API code is compared to the result of stress ratio by piping analysis.

The Primary Research on oil Conversion Technology of biomass by Pyrolysis (열분해에 의한 바이오매스의 유류자원화 기술에 관한 기초 연구)

  • This study aims to develop an alternative energy like oil made from marine organic waste by marine products waste, spent fishing nets. There are already many commercial examples and case studies based on the petroleum industry-refuse plastic or refuse tire, however, it is rare that a research developing alternative energy from food waste and organic waste. Therefore, this study investigated the oil made from thermal decomposition under the high temperature and high pressure condition, and examined the possibility for commercial use by testing its own characteristics. A bio-oil from thermal decomposition at $250^{\circ}C$ and 40 atm was hard to remove impurities because of its high viscosity, showed lower caloric value than heavy oil, and generated various gases which were not appropriate for the use of fuel. It is noticeable that thermal decomposition was occurred at $250{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ using steam pressure, which much lower compared to the existing method of thermal decomposition, more than $500^{\circ}C$. Since the high viscosity of bio-oil, it is necessary a further study to use as liquid fuel.
