The electrical reliability of the power generation and distribution system of Floating Liquefied Natural Gas vessels has been analyzed according to the operating modes using Electrical Transient Analysis Program in this paper. Electricity is used for the topside processes, cargo pumps for off-loading, thrusters for heading control and marine equipment. It is very important to improve the safety, efficiency, and stability of the electrical power system for successful operation. The voltage variation of the high and the low voltage bus shall be within the primitive limitation range at normal operation loads both in steady state and in the transient state. The power system was simulated and compared with class rule for design verification.
The switching-mode power converter has been widely used because of its features of high efficiency and small weight and size. These features are brought by the ON-OFF operation of semiconductor switching devices. However, this switching operation causes the surge and EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) which deteriorate the reliability of the converter themselves and entire electronic systems. This problem on the surge and noise is one of the most serious difficulties in AC-to-DC converter. In the case of carrier frequency selection, output-voltage of steady state and transient state is fully regulated. A RPWM control method was proposed in order to smooth the switching noise spectrum and reduce it's level. Experimental results are verified by converter operating at 300V/1kW with 5%${\sim}$30% white noise input. Spectrum analysis is performed on the Phase current and the CM noise voltage. The former is measured with Current Probe and the latter is achieved with USN. which are connected to the spectrum analyzer respectively.
This paper deals with the concept design of HVDC system for controlling AC network reactive power. HVDC system can control active power and reactive power and the control concept of reactive power is similar to SVC(Static Var Compensator). Reactive power is controlled by adjusting firing angle of HVDC system under the condition that AC filters are switched. Reactive power depends on AC voltage condition, considering the steady-state and transient state to maintain the stable operation of AC network in the viewpoint of voltage stability. Therefore, in the design stage of HVDC, the reactive power required in the AC network must be considered. For the calculation of operation angle in HVDC system, the expected reactive power demand and supply status is examined at each AC system bus. The required reactive power affects the determination of the operation angle of HVDC. That is, the range of "control deadband" of operation angle should have the capability supplying the required reactive power. Finally, the reactive power control concepts is applied to 1GW BTB Pyeongtaek-Dangjin HVDC system.
Roll drafting operation causes variations in the linear density of bundles because the bundle flow cannot be controlled completely by roll pairs. Defects occurring in this operation bring about many problems successively in the next processes. In this paper, we attempt to analyze the draft dynamics and the linear density irregularity based on the governing equation of a bundle motion that has been suggested in our previous studies. For analyzing the dynamic characteristics of the roll drafting operation, it is indispensable to investigate a transient state in time domain before the bundle flux reaches a steady state. However, since governing equations of bundle flow consisting of continuity and motion equations turn out to be nonlinear, and coupled between variables, the solutions for a transient state cannot be obtained by an analytical method. Therefore, we use the Finite Difference Method(FDM), particularly, the FTBS(Forward-Time Backward-Space) difference method. Then, the total equations system yields to an algebraic equations system and is solved under given initial and boundary conditions in an iterative fashion. From the simulation results, we confirm that state variables show different behavior in the transient state; e.g., the velocity distribution in the flow field changes more quickly the linear density distribution. During a transient flow in a drafting zone, the output irregularity is influenced differently by the disturbances, e.g., the variation in input bundle thickness, the drafting speed, and the draft ratio.
This pap4er analyzes resonance characteristics of a slave motor that is not controlled by load and parameter differences between Dual motors during parallel operation in middle-low speed. Dual SPMSMs(Surface mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) connected in parallel to a single inverter controlled by the master and slave control in this paper. Based on the stability analysis of the SPMSM for a variation of torque angle, the 6th nonlinear state equation of the torque angle variation in the SIMM(Single Inverter Multi Motor) structure is derived according to a mathematical model for the dual motors. In general, an analysis of the 6th order nonlinear state equation is complex. Therefore, a resonance frequency generated from the slave motor is found from the characteristic equation of the 2nd order system obtained by linearization and model reduction near steady state operation point. Through simulations and experiments, it is confirmed that the stability analysis of the SPMSMs and state equation models are useful for the variation of the torque angle analyzed in this paper.

This paper presents improved harmonics extraction based on Adaptive Linear Neuron (ADALINE) algorithm for single phase photovoltaic (PV) shunt active power filter (SAPF). The proposed algorithm, named later as Improved ADALINE, contributes to better performance by removing cosine factor and sum of element that are considered as unnecessary features inside the existing algorithm, known as Modified Widrow-Hoff (W-H) ADALINE. A new updating technique, named as Fundamental Active Current, is introduced to replace the role of the weight factor inside the previous updating technique. For evaluation and comparison purposes, both proposed and existing algorithms have been developed. The PV SAPF with both algorithms was simulated in MATLAB-Simulink respectively, with and without operation or connection of PV. For hardware implementation, laboratory prototype has been developed and the proposed algorithm was programmed in TMS320F28335 DSP board. Steady state operation and three critical dynamic operations, which involve change of nonlinear loads, off-on operation between PV and SAPF, and change of irradiances, were carried out for performance evaluation. From the results and analysis, the Improved ADALINE algorithm shows the best performances with low total harmonic distortion, fast response time and high source power reduction. It performs well in both steady state and dynamic operations as compared to the Modified W-H ADALINE algorithm.
In the switching-mode power converter, the output voltage is generally controlled by varying the duty ratio of main switch. When a converter operates in steady state, duty ratio of the converter is kept constant. So the power of switching noise is concentrated in specific frequencies. Generally, to reduce the EMI and improve the immunity of converter system, the switching frequency of converter needs to be properly modulated during a rectified line period instead of being kept constant. Random Pulse Width Modulation (RPWM) is performed by adding a random perturbation to switching instant while output-voltage regulation of converter is performed. RPWM method for reducing conducted EMI in single switch three phase discontinuous conduction mode boost converter is presented. The more white noise is injected, the more conducted EMI is reduced. But output-voltage is not sufficiently regulated. This is the reason why carrier frequency selection topology is proposed. In the case of carrier frequency selection, output-voltage of steady state and transient state is fully regulated. A RPWM control method was proposed in order to smooth the switching noise spectrum and reduce it's level. Experimental results are verified by converter operating at 300V/1kW with 5%~30% white noise input. Spectrum analysis is performed on the Phase current and the CM noise voltage. The former is measured with Current Probe and the latter is achieved with LISN, which are connected to the spectrum analyzer respectively.
A single phase to three phase power converter with cost effective and simple structure is proposed. The converter consists of rectifier and inverter. The rectifier is composed of a half wave rectifier, a dc link capacitor, and a current limiting inductor, and the inverter is of only two switches with PWM control. For negative sequence operation the inverter output voltage leads the line input by $60^{\circ}$, and for positive sequence operation the inverter output voltage leads by $60^{\circ}$. We can see that positive sequence operation shows higher output voltage, slight harmonic distortion(2%), and better performances such as high efficiency and high power factor. A mathematical model for system analysis is provided, and specifications for selection and control scheme both for start-up and for steady state are analyzed. comparison and operational limits of positive and negative sequence operation are performed, and simulations and experiments are executed to verify the proposed.
In the power system of a satellite, solar array and a battery have directly impact on the life time of the satellite, and their stable operation is decided by whether their states are in the steady state operation or not. In this study, solar array capacity and battery characteristics of proposed communication satellite are designed and simulation is conducted according to the operation mode. Each operation mode is classified as the normal and worst case modes, respectively. The normal mode is analyzed under daylight and the eclipse with the EHT burn, and the worst case modes which have solar cell circuit failure, and battery cell failure are analyzed too.
This paper shows an accurate charge-pump PLL model which considers the wave-form distortion in high speed operation of charge-pump PLL, the leakage current in loop filter, and a physical limit in charge-pump. With proposed model of charge-pump PLL, overload and stability are derived theoretically and the results are compared to the conventional model. Unlike the ideal charge-pump PLL that simplifies calculations, it is possible to analyze the transient-state and the steady-state at the same time with proposed accurate model. Thus, charge-pump over load, in the transient-state and the stead-state of charge-pump, is accuragely analyzed and the results are confirmed with simulation.
