  • Nonparametric tests for comparing umbrella pattern treatment effects with a control in a one-way layout were studied in Chen and Wolfe (1993). In this paper we propose a modification that improves the power of the Chen-Wolfe test. The results of a Monte Carlo power study are discussed.

  • When a neutral particle beam(NPB) aimed at the object and receive a small number of neutron signals at the detector without any errors, it obeys Poisson law. Under the two assumptions that neutral particle scattering distribution and aiming errors have a circular Gaussian distributions that neutral particle scattering distribution and aiming errors have a circular Gaussian distribution respectively, an exact probability distribution of neutral particles vecomes a Poisson-power function distribution. We study and prove some properties, such as limiting distribution, unimodality, stochastical ordering, computational recursion fornula, of this distribution. We also prove monotone likelihood ratio(MLR) property of this distribution. Its MLR property can be used to find a criteria for the hypothesis testing problem.

  • In this paper, we develop some characterization results in terms of survival entropy of the first order statistic. In addition, we generalize the cumulative entropy recently proposed by Di Crescenzo and Logobardi (2009) to a new measure of information (called the failure entropy) and study some properties of it and its dynamic version. Furthermore, power distribution is characterized based on dynamic failure entropy.

  • Vibrational characteristics of coupled beam & plate system are considered on simple system, which consists of plates(2-subsystem) and beams(4-subsystem), using experimental statistical energy analysis(ESEA). First, damping and coupling loss factors of the system are determined by power injection method (PIM). Then, energy distribution of all the subsystem is estimated from the power balance equation. Finally, these quantities are compared with measured energy. The correlation of measured and estimated results for the sample problem is reasonably good.

  • In this paper, some general results for obtaining recurrence relations between product moments of order statistics for doubly truncated distributions are established. These results are then applied to some specific doubly truncated distributions, viz. doubly truncated Weibull, Exponential, Pareto, power function, Cauchy, Lomax and Rayleigh.

  • In Korea, OCR-based techniques have been developed for digital library construction of historical documents. In this paper, we propose the nonlinear transform of contour directional feature (CDF) vectors using log it and power transforms with skewness criterion to enhance the discriminant power. Experiments were conducted using samples from Seung-jung-won diaries (Diaries of King's Secretaries). Our results show that proposed method outperforms the others like Box-Cox transform in this database.

  • Let a p-component vector y have a p-variate normal distribution $N(b\theta, \Sigma), \Sigma$ unknown, b specified, then for testing $\theta = 0$ against general $\theta$, Khatri and Rao (1987) derive a certain t test and obtain its power function. This paper presents a direct derivation of this power function in terms of the original variates unlike Khatri and Rao (1987) who resort to the canonical transformations of the original variates and the conditional distributions.

Statistical Comparison of ULF wave Power of Magnetic field between the upstream solar wind and the magnetosheath: THEMIS observations

  • We statistically examined ULF Pc 3-5 wave power in the regions of undisturbed upstream solar wind, quasi-parallel shock (and foreshock), quasi-perpendicular shock, and the magnetosheath to understand how and to what extent the wave power changes as the solar wind propagates to the magnetosheath. For this study, we used the magnetic field data from the THEMIS spacecraft and Wind (as shifted to the bow shock nose) for May-November in 2008 and 2009. The statistical results show that, in the case of the Pc5 wave power, the sheath power is roughly proportional to the upstream power for both quasi-parallel (and foreshock) and quasi-perpendicular shock regions. Also we identified undisturbed upstream condition from WIND as being well away from foreshock region, and found that the sheath power can be larger for quasi-parallel shock region by a factor of 5-15 than for quasi-perpendicular shock region. In the cases of Pc 3 and Pc4 waves, we found the higher sheath power when associated with the foreshock than with the quasi-perpendicular shock region.

  • In recent, electronic devices were able to develop and focus for ultra-compact size, intelligence, multifunction and broadband. Their SMPS is realized to ultra-compact size, light weight, high efficiency, high reliability, low noises. The power module which can be used to supply DC output from a commercial power supply (85 to 265 VAC). A switching power supply can be made easily by adding simply external circuit, such as microcontroller, a relay, etc. It would be apply to mostly electronic devices, and fit the global project "Saving energy". But we need to statistical analysis for a quality and performance about a load and an output voltage in product.

  • In the power-line communication systems, there are many factors of noise and attenuation in the power-line channels, because they were designed for not the communication but the power transmission. Also the transfer function of the channels is highly changed with the topology and the load of the power-lines. To cope with these poor channel situation, channel modeling, one of the many studies in progress, is being studied hard. Channel modeling is essential to apply the active schemes to overcome the bad channel(e.g. modulation technique, channel coding, signal coupling & filtering, etc.) to the power-line communications. In this paper, we have realized the statistical model(this model is suggested as the channel modeling method for the power-line channels) that is combined the transfer function with the various noises. And we have compared and examined the results with the measured data. Also we have studied the plan which can effectively establish the channel data base for the channel information consisted of the parameters that are derived from this modeling, and we have studied the plan to utilize the data base.
