  • In establishing silent environment such as automobile and industrial instrument, the roles of the insulating materials are critical. The proper and effective positioning of insulating materials is essential in the field of noise as well as in designing silent automobile. In this paper, we proposed the systematic and efficient scheme for optimizing complete automotive interiors for noise control. • This paper deals with the possibility on the hybrid power system concerning wind energy at a really existing island, Sunyoo-do in the west sea near Seamangeum. In the present stage, Diesel system produces all the electrical power of the Island. However, in the new proposed system of Diesel and wind energy, an optimized guideline for drive from the economic analysis on this hybrid system is given by a mathematical and statistical modelling with a share software HOMER (hybrid optimization model for electric renewables). After a series of analysis it has been shown that the hybrid system can reduce the total expenses as well as air pollution.

To qualify vibro-acoustic environment during its flight, High Intensity Acoustic Test was performed for KOMPSAT-2(Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite) STM(Structural Thermal Model). This paper presents the detailed description on the high intensity acoustic test for KOMPSAT-2. Additionally the test results was compared with the analysis ones, which were estimated with 3-D SEA(Statistical Energy Analysis) model.

  • When predicting shipboard noise levees, the accuracy depends largely on the value of the structureborne noise transmission loss. Although empirical formulars are frequently used because of their simplicities, researches on the analytical methods to estimate the transmission loss of structureborne noise such as wave guide theory and SEA has long bean one of the major topics in shipboard acoustics to overcome the inherent limiations of empirical ones. This paper describes an application of SEA to predict the transmission loss of the structureborne noise of a simple shiplike structural mode1 consisted of 22 flats plates. The result shows trial discrepancies between experimental and theoretical transmission losses are less than 3 dB.

  • There has been much effort to find suitable methods for structural analysis in the mid-frequency region where traditional low frequency methods have increasing uncertainties whilst statistical energy analysis is not strictly applicable. Systems consisting of relatively stiff beams coupled to flexible plates have a particularly broad mid-frequency region where the beams support only a few modes whilst the plate has a high modal density and modal overlap. A system of two parallel beams coupled to a plate is investigated based on the wave method, which is an approximate method. The wave model is extended from a single-beam-plate system, to a plate with two identical beams which is modelled using a symmetric-anti symmetric technique. Experimental results such as powers and energy ratios show the validity of the analytical wave models.

  • Noise regulation of heavy construction machinery is getting stricter: 3 dB per every 4 year in European community. To meet this requirement many engineers have adopted the enclosing structures with thick absorbing materials and small opening, This increases internal temperature of the enclosure which have engine systems such as electric equipment that are vulnerable to heat, and engine block and muffler that can be regarded as heat sources. So noise control engineers have to consider a coupling problem: combining heat balance and noise reduction. This paper describes this approach by introducing simple heat transfer theory and SEA. The enclosing system of the loader whose enclosing structure consists of two rooms is investigated to show the validity of this method. The results represent that the simple heat transfer theory can be useful to estimate cooling performance when it is linked together by the back pressure theory in duct system. and the radiated noise can also be estimated by the SEA. Therefore a designer can use these approaches to define the opening ratio of an enclosure and the mass flow rate of air considering radiating noise.

  • During the last few years recommendations or regulations concerning permissible noise levels on shirts have been issued by the authorities in most countries. For these reasons the need for useful and accurate noise prediction computer programs has been emphasized. A noise prediction program can make it possible to find the most economical solution to achieve a certain noise requirement. This paper attempts to develop a noise prediction computer program using statistical energy analysis(SEA). In this paper, the SEA is used to predict the sound transmission loss for airborne noise and the vibration amplitude of the panel consisting of ship spaces such as floor, wall, and ceiling for structureborne noise. And in order to verify the prediction, a small passenger vessel, G/T120 tons, is selected. It has been shown that the prediction is capable of giving results in good practical agreement with measurements and therefore it is useful for predicting the nolle levels in ships and establishing the countermeasures at early design stage.

  • The sound transmission from the machine room where air-conditioner outdoor unit is located into the adjacent room is predicted and evaluated. The software package for statistical energy analysis(SEA) is utilized to determine the transmission losses of multi-layerd panels. To determine the noise level in the machine room, ray tracing method is adopted. The various sound transmission paths have been effectively identified and evaluated by the SEA tool.

  • Power flow analysis(PFA) methods have shown many advantages in noise predictions and vibration analysis in medium-to-high frequency ranges. Applying the finite element technique to PFA has produced power flow finite element method(PFFEM) that can be effectively used for analysis of vibration of complicated structures. PFADS(power flow analysis design system) based on PFFEM as the vibration analysis program has been developed for vibration predictions and analysis of coupled structural systems. In this paper, to improve the function of vibro-acoustic coupled analysis in PFADS, the PFFEM has been extended for analysis of the interior noise problems in the vibro-acoustic fully coupled systems. The vibro-acoustic fully coupled PFFEM formulation based on energy coupled relations is extended to structural system model by using appropriate modifications to structural-structural, structural-acoustic and acoustic-acoustic joint matrices. It has been applied to prediction of the interior noise in two room model coupled with panels, and the PFFEM results are compared to those of statistical energy analysis(SEA).
