An Image Enhancement Algorithm for Panoramic Infrared Images (파노라믹 적외선 영상에서의 영상 향상 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an image enhancement algorithm for panoramic infrared image. This method divides a panoramic infrared image into disjoint subimages and performs the contrast stretch for subimages using statistical characteristics of each subimage. But these cause blocking artifact in boundary regions of neighboring subimages which different to the statistical characteristic. To remove blocking artifact, we perform the contrast stretch for subimage's boundary regions using statistical characteristics of horizontally neighboring subimages. Experimental results show that the proposed method effectively improves their appearance to human viewers.

  • cIn this paper. we evaluate the breakdown and TDDB characteristics of ammonia free ECVD SiN films which studied widely as a gate insulator to substitute the silicon dioxide because of it's superior film characteristics with the merit of low temperature process. And also, we propose a new statistical model by introduce a dispersion factor in the traditional Weibull statistics. From the comparison of experimental result, and simulation one, try to dock the breakdown mechanism and statistical analysis.

  • In this paper, a new method to find the corpus callosum from sagittal brain MR images is proposed, which uses the statistical characteristics and shape information of corpus callosum. First, we extract regions satisfying the statistical characteristics of the corpus callosum and then find a region matching the shape information. In order to match the shape information, a new directed window region growing algorithm is proposed instead of using conventional contour matching algorithms. Using the proposed algorithm, we adaptively relax the statistical requirement until we find a region matching the shape information. Experiments show very promising results.

Relationship between rural watershed characteristics and stream water quality (농촌유역특성과 하천수질과의 관계)

  • In interpreting stream water quality data, scientific or statistical mehtods should be employed. Classical parametric statistical methods may not be adopted in analyzing water quality data, due to the violation of normality. In this study, nonparametric statistical methods, such as Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney test, were used in comparing water quality data from several monitoring stations. Water quality data used are those collected Bokha watershed, located in Ichon-city, Kyonggi province. Based on the test results, domestic sewage is the major pollution source. A couple of sub-watersheds with a large number of livestock do not show significant differences in water quality parameters. It should be noted that comparison of mean values of water quality parameters is difficult to relate water quality with watershed characteristics. The results also indicate that livestock farming does not significantly affect the water quality.

  • This paper presents a study on characteristics and safety for human body in ELF electric and magnetic fields using statistical method. The magnetic fields from a power line can be computed given a knowledge of the currents, voltage and geometry of the line. In this paper, a statistical method for predicting the magnetic fields given the inherent indetermination of the currents is presented. But the electric field is calculated given a knowledge of the voltage and geometry of the line. The effect of unexpected fluctuations in current is modeled by the Monte Carlo simulation. The suggested method is applied to the 345kV and 765kV transmission line system, the result shows that the maximum electric and magnetic field intensity is 6.8627kV/m and 284mG in 345kV system, 2. 5590kV/m and 35mG in 765kV system, respectively.

  • The characteristics of flow pattern transitions in a horizontal cocurrent gas-liquid flow have been investigated by means of a statistical analysis of instantaneous pressure drop curves at an orifice. The dimensionless intensity of pressure drop fluctuation shows a sudden change during the course of flow transitions, indicating that it may be a good measure to identify the flow regime transitions. The probability density function of the curves feature a unique pattern depending upon the flow regimes and the statistical properties of the PDF also have particular ranges for each flow regime. In conclusion, the statistical analysis of instantaneous pressure drops may be a powerful tool for predicting the flow regime transitions.

  • This paper proposes an improved Pseudorandom Sequence Generator (PRSG) based on the concept of modular arithmetic systems with non-integral numbers. The generated random sequence use in various cryptographic applications due to its unpredictability. Here the mathematical model is designed to solve the problem of the non-uniform distribution of the sequences. In addition, PRSG has passed the standard statistical and empirical tests, which shows that the proposed generator has good statistical characteristics. Finally, image encryption has been performed based on the sort-index method and diffusion processing to obtain the encrypted image. After a thorough evaluation of encryption performance, there has been no direct association between the original and encrypted images. The results show that the proposed PRSG has good statistical characteristics and security performance in cryptographic applications.

Ocean bottom reverberation and its statistical characteristics in the East Sea (동해 해역에서 해저면 잔향음 및 통계적 특징)

  • In this study, we analyzed the beam time series of ocean reverberation which was conducted in the eastsouthern region of East Sea, Korea during the August, 2015. The reverberation data was gathered by moving research vessel towing LFM (Linear Frequency Modulation) source and triplet receiver array. After signal processing, we analyzed the variation of ocean reverberation level according to the seafloor bathymetry, source/receiver depth and sound speed profile. In addition, we used the normalized data by using cell averaging algorithm and identified the statistical characteristics of seafloor scatterer by using moment estimation method and estimated shape parameter. Also, we analyzed the coincidence of data with Rayleigh and K-distribution probability by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The results show that there is range dependency of reverberation according to the bathymetry and also that the time delay and the intensity level change depend on the depths of source and receiver. In addition, we observed that statistical characteristics of similar Rayleigh probability distribution in the ocean reverberation.
