Analysis and Design of Filter at AC Source of Sigle Phase PWM Converter (단상 PWM 컨버터의 전원측 필터의 해석 및 설계)

  • This paper deals with the static characteristics of filters at the AC source in single phase PWM converter using hysterisis current control method. The filters are needed to reduce the current harmonics. In general, there are two kinds of filters which can be used for current controlled PWM converter. One is the low pass filter, the other is the resonant filter for a frequency. This paper designs these filters by analysing the characteristics. And these filters are compared through performance index such as harmonic reduction factor and the value of components which make up filters.

  • This paper analyzes an LCL-type isolated dc-dc converter operating for constant output voltage in the continuous conduction mode(CCM) with resistances of parasitic losses-static drain-source on resistance of power switch, ESR of resonant network(L-C-L)-using a high loaded quality factor Q assumptions and fourier series techniques. Simple analytical expressions for performance characteristics are derived under steady-state conditions for designing and understanding the behavior of the proposed converter. The voltage-driven rectifier is analyzed, taking into account the diode threshold voltage and the diode forward resistance. Experimental results measured for a proposed converter at low input voltage and various load resistances show agreement to the theoretical performance predicted by the analysis within maximum 4% error. Especially in the case of low output voltages and large loads, It is been observed that introduction of both rectifier and the parasitic components of converter had considerable effect on the performance.

  • SFC(Static Frequence Converter)system has come to be used as drive large synchronous machine in many industry applications. Many papers have been presented on the control algorithm of SFC system, not the acceleration and start-up but the rated speed operation with line connection and the braking operation with regeneration which is used in the industry. Among this, this paper presents the regeneration breaking control algorithm for a large synchronous machine using SFC system. The results of experiment show that the proposed algorithm is proper and effective.

  • SFC(Static Frequence Converter)system has come to be used as start up drive system for large synchronous motor in many industry applications. Many papers have been presented the control algorithm for pumped storage power generation using SFC system but they did not included about start up algorithm of SFC system for gas turbine. This paper presents the field weakening control algorithm for a large synchronous motor using output signal of anti-windup in PI current regulator and the results of experiment show that the proposed algorithm is proper and effective.

  • This paper proposes new 12 and 24-pulse rectifier systems using an open-delta auto-connected transformer. This approach employs two static converters to operate it at higher than utility line frequencies and to provide multi-pulse operation. By operating magnetic components at a higher frequency, higher power density can be achieved. A unique feature of the proposed approach is that the magnetic components for the dc-side are also exposed to a higher frequency and these components too are reduced in size. The switching frequency and its harmonic components are absent in the utility input line current. The VA ratings of the transformer and static converter are 0.236/0.292 [pu] and 0.11/0.18 [pu] in 12 and 24-pulse rectifier system, respectively. A finer grade of steel or alternatives can be deployed to increase performance and reduce size further. Analysis, simulations, simulations, design example, and experimental results for a 480[V], 10{kVA] prototype system are presented.

  • KEPRI developed digital excitation system for San-Cheong pumped storage power plant. This is the very complicated system because of operation connected with SFC(Static Frequency Converter). Many operation modes(stating, regeneration, back to back, line charging, gird connection mode etc) during the commissioning were successfully tested at san-Cheong #2.

An Operating Frequency Independent Energy Measurement Technique for High Speed Microprocessors

  • This paper proposes a more accurate task level energy measurement technique for high speed microprocessors. The technique is based on the relationship of the amount of current consumed by the microprocessor and the pulse width of the power supply controller chip, employed in the synchronous buck DC-DC converter in the microprocessor's power supply. The accuracy of the measurement is accomplished by measuring variation in pulse width in each power supply cycle. The major advantage of this technique is that its accuracy does not depend on the operating frequency of the microprocessor. To prove the proposed technique, we implemented the measurement unit of the microprocessor energy meter using an FPGA chip operating at 50 MHz. Both static and dynamic load measurement are tested in order to obtain some behaviours. Moreover, various commercially available mainboards which employ synchronous buck regulators at 200 KHz switching frequency, were measured. The results agree with previous works with better accuracy at higher operating frequency.

  • This paper presents modeling and analysis of static and dynamic characteristics in PWM Boost AC-AC converter used for input voltage sag compensation of custom power. Especially, using circuit DQ transformation technique, an equivalent circuit in fundamental frequency domain is obtained which has all the system characteristics. Moreover, voltage gain and input power factor is analytically induced and linearized state equation at the specific operating point is given. Finally, simulation results show the validity of the proposed modelling and analyses.

  • In this paper, a capacitors energy strategy based Cascaded H-bridge Converter (CHBC) for steady DC link voltage is proposed, which allow the CHBC to work while DC power fails. The topology of the CHBC is analyzed to construct the proposed strategy. The capacitors energy strategy is deduced based on the principle that the DC link voltage should be steady, the switch state should be smooth and the switch frequency should be normal. Experiments based on a three-module prototype, including static experiment, start experiment and step change experiment, proves the correctness of the strategy. They also verified the excellent fault tolerance ability and good dynamic performance of the proposed strategy.
