This paper presents the experimental study of the static stiffness for the BT shank(7/24 long taper) and the HSK tool shank(1/10 short taper) in the main spindle taper of machine tool. The static stif71ess test was performed under different experimental conditions. It is turned out that the effective axial drawing force is larger than 6kN in the 7/24 test tool shank and BkN in the 1/10 test tool shank. As a test result, considering that the actual drawing force of the machining center is about 1300k2f and axal drawing force 12kN is equivalent amount as a 1220kgf, it is turned out that 1/10 test tool shank superior to 7/24 test tool shank in the static stiffness.
The equivalent static force procedure and the response spectrum analysis method are widely used for seismic analyses of multi-story buildings. The equivalent static force procedure is one of the most simple but less accurate method in predicting possible seismic response of a structure. The response spectrum analysis method provides more accurate results while it takes much longer computational time. In the response spectrum method, dynamic response of a multi-story building is obtained by combining modal responses through a proper procedure such as SRSS or CQC method. Since all of the analysis results are expressed in absolute values, structural engineers have difficulties to combine them with the results obtained from the static analysis. Design automation is interrupted at this stage because of the difficulty in the decision of the most critical design load. Pseudo-dynamic analysis method proposed in this study provides more accurate seismic analysis results than those of the equivalent static force procedure since the dynamic characteristics of a structure is considered. And the proposed method has an advantage in combination of the analysis results due to gravity loads and seismic loads since the direction of the forces can be considered.
The purpose of this investigation was to examine the influence of head and neck(HN) position in the transverse plane on the static production of elbow extension force in the involved(paretic) upper extremity of patients with hemiparesis. On this study, thirty patients who had experienced a cerebrovascular accident were matched with neurologically intact subjects. Force of static elbow extension was tested with a hand-held dynamometer, twice with the HN rotated toward the paretic side and twice with the HN rotated toward the non-paretic side. Elbow extension force differed significantly with the HN in the two position in patients with hemiparesis but not in normal persons(${\alpha}$=0.05). Results of this study support the conclusion that HN position in the transverse plane influences the production of static elbow extension force on the paretic side in patients with hemiparesis.

The cutting force is the most important variable to understand the mechanics of ultra-precision machining. Most dynamometers, however, monitor the static cutting force only. But it is necessary to measure the dynamic cutting force to clarify the machinability of the material, the formation of the chip, chatter and the wear of the tool. In this research, measurement of the dynamic cutting force in order to clarify the machin-ability of the material, the formation of the chip, chatter and the wear of the tool has been conducted. A combined-type dynamometer which could measure the static cutting force and the dynamic cutting force by use of strain gauges and a piezo-film accelerometer has been developed. An analysis of the dynamometer also has been carried out.

This paper presents static and dynamic measurement of the stress and motion characteristics for crawler type excavators. Eight scenarios were prepared for static measurement based on two extreme digging positions, maximum digging reach position and maximum digging force position. The measured items for static motion included stress, cylinder pressure, cylinder stroke and digging force. The measured static stresses showed that asymmetric digging force acting on a bucket induced higher stress level than symmetric one. The measured static pressures and digging forces also agreed with design pressures and design digging forces, respectively. The dynamic measurement was performed for two types of motion, that is, simple reciprocation of each cylinder and actual digging motion. The measured items for dynamic motion were stroke and pressure of each cylinder, stresses on the working device and acceleration on the upper plate of an arm. The measured data showed that the natural frequency of the excavator highly depended on the hydraulic stiffness of cylinders. Digging motion tests revealed that digging motion was closer to static motion rather than dynamic one.
The paper reports the physical and mechanical properties of hand-woven carpets, which have been put under static force. Two groups of wool fibres, from two parts of Iran, were prepared to spin pile yams for the carpets. Each group of the fibres included both conventional and tanned wool. Then two yam counts, $N_m$ = 4/2 and 6/2, were spun for two different knot densities. After weaving the carpets, they were put under static force and their thickness variations were measured and plotted against time, in logarithm scale. The resiliency of the carpets piles after eliminating the static force, were measured and plotted against time, in logarithm scale, too. The results were compared to each other and analysed with respect to parameters such as the type and quality of the wool fibres as well as knot density of the carpets.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Force-Sensing Resistor (FSR) for measurement of static hindlimb weight distribution in beagle dogs and to compare these results to a Digital Weighing Scale (DWS). Nine healthy beagle dogs were recruited for this study. Static weight distribution was evaluated four times at intervals of 5 days with each device and two observers to calculate the intra- and interobserver reliability. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) values of the FSR for intraobserver reliability were moderate to good (0.74). The results for the DWS showed poor to moderate (0.56) ICC values for intraobserver reliability. The ICC values for interobserver reliability were 0.53 and 0.61 for FSR and DWS, respectively, indicating poor to moderate agreement. Our findings suggest that the Force-Sensing Resistor can be used to measure static weight distribution in veterinary medicine. However, caution should be taken when comparing measured values of static weight distribution obtained utilizing both the FSR and DWS due to their low positive correlation (R = 0.41, p < 0.01).
A degree of sharpness in wheel grains affects the surface roughness and dimensional accuracy in the grinding process. If a wheel with dull grains is used, the grinding force is increased and the surface roughness is deteriorated. In ovder to produce a precision component economically, the magnitude of the wear amount in the grinding wheel has to be limited. In this study, experimental evaluation of a wheel life varying with the grinding ratio and static grinding force was conducted. The grinding ratio and grinding force were measured to seek the grinding performance of the WA wheel. The relationship between the grinding ratio and static grinding force was presented.

This paper deals with the effect of static and dynamic cuttig force and the behaviour of drill life in drilling process. The experiments are performed with cemented carbide drills and high speed steel drills of 10mm in diameter and in an annealed SM45C. The conclusions are as follows (1) Dynamic cutting force is varied with the dept of hole. (2) Dynamic cutting forces of torque and thrust are increase with the increase in feed and cutting speed. (3) Chipping influence the dynamic cutting force of thrust than torque, and in the case of thrust, the amplitude is 3-7 times large than ordinary cutting state. (4) Prediction of drill life can be obtained from more easily the amplitude of static cutting force than that of dynamic cutting force.

Braking force inspection of vehicles in service is certainly one of the most important characteristics that affect vehicle safety. Up to now, in domestic country, the regular safety inspection of vehicles in service has been tested with a roller type brake test (a static braking force inspection system). But, in EU and USA etc. in recent years, it has been tested with a plate type brake test (a dynamic braking force inspection system). In this study, to compare the characteristics of above two test systems, the correlations for the results of braking force are evaluated statistically. As the results, in the case of main braking force, the range of the $R^2$ of the deviation for the left and right side is 0.5386 ~ 0.6231 in the rear axle and 0.0032 ~ 0.0052 in the front axle respectively, then the $R^2$ in the front axle is lower than that in the rear axle and the total variation is unexplained by the least-squares regression line statistically. Also, the p-value for the deviation of the left and right in the front axle is 0.4839 ~ 0.5755, then it has nonsignificant in the front axle. Therefore, the static braking force inspection system can not reflect the inertia force that there is a load transfer from the rear axle to the front axle during braking. Accordingly, it is necessary to adopt the dynamic braking force inspection system which can reflect the inertia force on the regular vehicle safety inspection in domestic country.
