  • This aims of this study were to investigate the relationship between non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and actual bending properties of particleboard, and to predict the bending properties of three-layer particleboard. Three kinds of raw materials, i.e. Hinoki (Chamaecyparis obtusa Endl.) strand, knife-milled Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga manziesii (Mirb) Franco), and hammer-milled matoa (Pometia spp.) obtained from wooden industry, were utilized as furnish for experimental panel with methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) resin as binder. The NDE test was conducted by hit sounds using an FFT analyzer according to the spectrum peak of wave frequency, while the static bending test was conducted according to JIS A-5908. The results reveal that the dynamic Young's modulus as an NDE test has a potential for being used to predict the elastic bending of particleboards by a specific equation for adjusting its proper values. The values of NDE and static test are significantly different with a deviation range at 3-20%. The bending stiffness of three-layer particleboards manufactured from different wood species is predictable by observing the bending stiffness of two elements based on the thickness of its layers. The predicted values of bending stiffness and static test are significantly different with a deviation range at 5-24%.

  • Background: To determine the correlation Between forward head posture and plantar pressor in a McKenzie Exercise. Methods: This study had a cross-sectional design. There are included 20 participants with forward head posture. We measured the craniovertebral angle (CVA), cranial rotation angle (CRA) by image obtained digital camera and the plantar pressure, static balance using Gait Analyzer each before and after McKenzie Exercise. Results: There was negative correlation between CVA and CRA (p<.05). There was negative correlation between CVA and fore foot(p<.05). There was positive correlation between CRA and both fore foot (p<.05). There was negative correlation between CVA and static balance(p<.05). There was positive correlation between CRA and static balance (p<.05). Conclusions: There is a correlation between the change a mount of forward head position and plantar pressure in the McKenzie Exercise.

  • Four plasma instruments are currently under development for KAISTSAT-4 (K-4) which is scheduled for launch in 2002. They are the Solid-State Telescope, Electro-Static Analyzer, Langmuir Probe, and the Scientific Magnetometer, that will respectively allow in-situ detection of high energy and low energy components of auroral particles, ionospheric thermal electrons, and magnetic field disturbances. These instruments, together with the Far-ultraviolet IMaging Spectrograph, will provide micro-scale physics of Earth's polar ionosphere with detailed spectral information that has not been previously achieved with other space missions. In this paper, we review the concept of the four space plasma instruments as well as the anticipated results from the instruments.

  • The purpose of this paper is that investigates the dynamic behavior characteristic of W.T.S(Wind turbine System) and carries out the evaluation analysis during operating W.T.S. To investigate the dynamic behavior characteristic of W.T.S, the experiments to measure vibration of the blade from the attached accelerometer on the flap and edge section of the blade that is one of the most important elements of dynamic characteristic of W.T.S are performed. Natural frequency and mode shape are calculated with commercial program (ANSYS) using the measured vibration acceleration that receives the signal with F.F.T Analyzer from the accelerometer. For validation of these experiments, the finite element analysis is performed with commercial F.E.M program (ANSYS) on the basis of the natural frequency and mode shape. The results indicate that experimental values have good agreements with the finite element analysis.

  • To enhance effective and efficient applications of automated security vulnerability checkers in highly competitive and fast-evolving IT industry, this paper studies a comprehensive set of security bug checkers in open-source static analysis frameworks and how they can be utilized for source code inspections according to the security vulnerability inspection guidelines by MOIS. This paper clarifies the relationship be tween all 42 inspection criteria in the MOIS guideline and total 323 security bug checkers in 4 popular open-source static analysis frameworks for Java web applications. Based on the result, this paper also discuss the current challenges and issues in the MOIS guideline, the comparison among the four security bug checker frameworks, and also the ideas to improve the security inspection methodologies using the MOIS guideline and open-source static security bug checkers.

  • Silicone Rubber (SR)-based potassium- and sodium-selective solid-state electrodes have been developed for the portable blood electrolyte analyzer system. The electrochemical performance of these electrodes have been evaluated with a static experimental setup and with the newly developed blood electrolyte analyzer system (model; HS603). It has been shown that their potentiometric properties are essentially comparable to those of PVC-based ion-selective electrodes, but with greatly improved lifetime (200 and 40 days for potassium and sodium sensors, respectively) and potential stability (within $\pm0.1$ mV). Clinical tests have been performed with real serum samples and the results have been compared with those obtained from Ciba-Corning BGA 288 system; correlations were excellent, proving its practical utility as a new commercial system.

  • Three prestressed concrete(PC) piles were installed for research purpose at Seosan area of west sea of Korea, and also cone penetration tests (CPT) were performed near two pile locations in order to compute PC pile shaft resistance by using CPT data measured. Three common CPT prediction methods that ia, Schmertmann method, Tumay Sl Fakroo method and LCPC method in France were used to predict pile shaft resistance. The pile shaft resistance predicted by each method was compared with that obtained by full-scale loading test and pile driving analyzer to estimate reliability of each prediction method. The predicted resistances based on three CPT-based methods underestimated significantly the resistances obtained from by fullrcale loading test, performed at 25 days and 42 days text pile installtion. There were, however, good agreements of predicted shaft resistance of piles between three CPT-based methods and pile driving analyzer tested two weeks after pile installtion.
