A Study of Co, Ni, Mn, and Al Containing Goethites by Mössbauer Spectroscopy

  • To determine whether there is an ionic substitution of Ni, Co, Mn, and Al for Fe in synthetic goethites these materials have been studied by M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy at various temperatures ranging from 77 to 400 K. It is found that the presence of substituting elements in magnetically ordered structure of crystals may change the shape of M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectra of these caterials. The approximate distribution function of the effective magnetic field in the Fe nucleus p(Hn) is obtained from the M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectra. It is noted that the mean value of p(Hn) and its integral width can be taken as a measure of substitution in goethites.

  • The paper deals with the mechanical and electrical responses of submicrocrystalline Cu-3%Ag alloy as a function of strain imposed by equal-channel angular pressing. When inducing the effective strain of 12, the initial grain site of ${\sim}50{\mu}m$ is evidently reduced within the range of $0.2-0.3{\mu}m$ in size, having a reasonably equiaxed shape. The results of tension tests at room temperature exhibit that the tensile strength of the present alloy increases with increasing the amount of strain whereas losing electrical conductivity slightly. This phenomenon can be explained based on fine grained structure together with the non-equilibrium state of grain boundaries.

A mathematical planning model for vertical integration (수직통합 의사결정을 위한 계량분석모형)

  • This paper presents a mathematical model for a class of vertical integration decisions. The problem structure of interest consists of raw material vendors, components suppliers, components processing plants, final product (assembly) plants and external components buyers. Economic feasibility of operating components plants instead of keeping outside suppliers is our major concern. The model also determines assignment of product lines and production volumes to each open plant considering the cost impacts of economies of scale and plant complexity. The problem formulation leads to a concave, mixed integer mathematical program. Given the state of the art of nonlinear programming techniques, it is often not possible to find global optima for reasonably sized such problems. We developed an optimization solution algorithm within the framework of Benders decomposition for the case of a piecewise linear concave cost function. It is shown that our algorithm generates optimal solutions efficiently.

  • Fire control system(FCS) errors can be classified as hardware errors, filter prediction errors, effective ballistic function errors, and aiming errors. Among these errors, the filter prediction errors are the most significant error sources. To reduce them, a target future position calculation method using the acceleration estimate is suggested and it is compared with the constant velocity target prediction method. Simulation results show that the suggested method has better performance than the constant velocity prediction method. Target tracking algorithm is established with multiple target tracking filters based on IMM structure.

Multi-swarm fruit fly optimization algorithm for structural damage identification

  • In this paper, the Multi-Swarm Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (MFOA) is presented for structural damage identification using the first several natural frequencies and mode shapes. We assume damage only leads to the decrease of element stiffness. The differences on natural frequencies and mode shapes of damaged and intact state of a structure are used to establish the objective function, which transforms a damage identification problem into an optimization problem. The effectiveness and accuracy of MFOA are demonstrated by three different structures. Numerical results show that the MFOA has a better capacity for structural damage identification than the original Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (FOA) does.

  • This paper proposed LQ-Servo PI controller by considering LQ-Servo structure as PI controller with a partial state feedback and concerns about the development of the flexible design algorithm by introducing weights to the design parameters of the previous LQ-Servo design method. the propose algorithm improves the matchings of the maximum and minimum singular values at high and low frequencies of the design loop transfer function as well as its loop shaping for performance.

How Competitive and Stable is the Commercial Banking Industry in China after Bank Reforms?

  • This paper examines market concentration and its effect on competition in the Chinese commercial banking market. This study also investigates how changes in competition have affected the financial stability of Chinese commercial banks. To test the competitive conditions, we obtained the H statistic of the Panzar-Rosse model from a revenue function equation. The degree of financial stability is estimated by the Z-score formula. The Chinese banking industry has become an increasingly less concentrated market with an increased number of banks. Along with a decreased market concentration, competition in the Chinese banking industry has improved moderately. However, its market structure is still far from a competitive market. An individual bank's ability to earn higher markup or charge a higher net interest margin contributes to its financial soundness, although a higher degree of market concentration may have negative effect on the financial stability of the entire banking system.

  • IGCT devices is a superior devices for power conversion purpose. The basic structure of the IGCT devices is same as that of GTO thyristor. This makes the blocking voltage higher and controllable on-state current higher. In this paper, we present static and dynamic characteristics of 4.5 kV PT-type IGCT devices as a function of minority carrier lifetime, n-base thickness and n-buffer thickness. We should choose proper structural parameters for good electrical characteristics of GCT devices.

  • We address a disposal issue of returned products in a product recovery system where a single product is stocked in order to meet a demand from customers who may return products after usage. Product returns occur randomly and can be accepted for remanufacturing or disposed of depending on the state of the system. We examine the structure of the optimal disposal policy for returned product that utilizes the information of the inventory of both serviceable and remanufacturable products. Numerical study indicates that it can be characterized by a monotonic threshold type of the curve. A disposal is allowed only when the remanufacturable inventory level exceeds a threshold which is the function of the inventory level of serviceable product and it is decreasing as the serviceable inventory level increases. Sensitivity analysis also indicates that the optimal disposal policy and the optimal profit have monotonic properties with respect to system parameters.

  • Electronic structure of Calix adsorbed on epitaxial graphene (EG) was investigated using high resolution photoemission spectroscopy (HRPES). Increasing the deposition of calix molecule, we found that EG becomes n-type doping using secondary edge measurement (work function change). As we observe bonding nature of O 1s peak, we found that single O 1s peak can be clearly distinguished in the spectra indicating equivalent adsorption state. Finally, we were able to control the band gap of EG using valence band spectra as we change the amount of calix molecule. In this study, we will propose the possibility of band gap modulation of EG using calix molecule.
