A Current-Fed Parallel Resonant Push-Pull Inverter with a New Cascaded Coil Flux Control for Induction Heating Applications

  • This paper presents a cascaded coil flux control based on a Current Source Parallel Resonant Push-Pull Inverter (CSPRPI) for Induction Heating (IH) applications. The most important problems associated with current source parallel resonant inverters are start-up problems and the variable response of IH systems under load variations. This paper proposes a simple cascaded control method to increase an IH system's robustness to load variations. The proposed IH has been analyzed in both the steady state and the transient state. Based on this method, the resonant frequency is tracked using Phase Locked Loop (PLL) circuits using a Multiplier Phase Detector (MPD) to achieve ZVS under the transient condition. A laboratory prototype was built with an operating frequency of 57-59 kHz and a rated power of 300 W. Simulation and experimental results verify the validity of the proposed power control method and the PLL dynamics.

An Empirical Study on the Operation of Cogeneration Generators for Heat Trading in Industrial Complexes

  • In this study, we introduce a model that satisfies energy efficiency and economical efficiency by introducing and demonstrating cogeneration generators in industrial complexes using various actual data collected at the site. The proposed model is composed of three scenarios, ie, full - time operation, scenario operated according to demand, and a fusion type. In this study, the power generation profit and surplus thermal energy are measured according to the operation of the generator, and the thermal energy is traded according to the demand of the customer to calculate the profit and loss including the heat and evaluate the economic efficiency. As a result of the study, it is relatively profitable to reduce the generation of the generator under the condition that the electricity rate is low and the gas rate is high, while the basic charge is not increased. On the contrary, if the electricity rate is high and the gas rate is low, The more you start up, the more profit you can see. These results show that even a cogeneration power plant with a low economic efficiency due to a low "spark spread" has sufficient economic value if it can sell more than a certain amount of heat energy from a nearby customer and adjust the applied power through peak management.

  • This study was investigate the characteristics of GHGs ($CO_2$, $CH_4$, and $N_2O$) emissions of diesel medium duty trucks according to their various driving modes. GHGs emissions decreased as vehicle speed increased, and emissions increased after 64.7 km/h. The 4.5 ton trucks show higher values of $CO_2$, $CH_4$, $N_2O$, 35%, 25%, and 57%, respectively, comparing of the 2.5 ton trucks. Also, $CO_2$ emissions under WHVC mode were 20% lower than those under the NEDC mode. In the case of cold start condition, $CO_2$ emissions were 12-13% higher than those for hot start condition. In the future, the result of present study will provide basic data to set up GHGs emission standards for medium and heavy duty vehicles.

INVESTIGATION OF RUNNING BEHAVIORS OF AN LPG SI ENGINE WITH OXYGEN-ENRICHED AIR DURING START/WARM-UP AND HOT IDLING

  • This paper experimentally investigates the effects of oxygen-enriched air (OEA) on the running behaviors of an LPG SI engine during both start/warm-up (SW) and hot idling (HI) stages. The experiments were performed on an air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, LPG SI engine with an electronic fuel injection system and an electrically-heated oxygen sensor. OEA containing 23% and 25% oxygen (by volume) was supplied for the experiments. The throttle position was fixed at that of idle condition. A fueling strategy was used as following: the fuel injection pulse width (FIPW) in the first cycle of injection was set 5.05 ms, and 2.6 ms in the subsequent cycles till the achieving of closed-loop control. In closed-loop mode, the FIPW was adjusted by the ECU in terms of the oxygen sensor feedback. Instantaneous engine speed, cylinder pressure, engine-out time-resolved HC, CO and NOx emissions and excess air coefficient (EAC) were measured and compared to the intake air baseline (ambient air, 21% oxygen). The results show that during SW stage, with the increase in the oxygen concentration in the intake air, the EAC of the mixture is much closer to the stoichiometric one and more oxygen is made available for oxidation, which results in evidently-improved combustion. The ignition in the first firing cycle starts earlier and peak pressure and maximum heat release rate both notably increase. The maximum engine speed is elevated and HC and CO emissions are reduced considerably. The percent reductions in HC emissions are about 48% and 68% in CO emissions about 52% and 78%; with 23% and 25% OEA, respectively, compared to ambient air. During HI stage, with OEA, the fuel amount per cycle increases due to closed-loop control, the engine speed rises, and speed stability is improved. The HC emissions notably decrease: about 60% and 80% with 23% and 25% OEA, respectively, compared to ambient air. The CO emissions remain at the same low level as with ambient air. During both SW and HI stages, intake air oxygen enrichment causes the delay of spark timing and the increased NOx emissions.

냉난방 시간을 예측하는 인공신경망의 구축 및 IoT 시스템에서의 활용 (Air-conditioning and Heating Time Prediction Based on Artificial Neural Network and Its Application in IoT System)

  • 사용자가 집에 도착하기 전에 IoT 시스템이 집안 온도를 자동으로 쾌적하게 하기 위해서는 사용자의 도착 예정 시간에 맞게 설정한 온도에 도달할 수 있는 최적의 에어컨 및 난방의 가동 시작 시간을 예측해야 한다. 가동 시간을 정확하게 예측한다면 불필요한 가동시간을 줄일 수 있기 때문에 요금 낭비를 피할 수 있는 효과가 있다. 본 논문은 에어컨과 보일러를 사용하는 집의 냉난방 시간을 예측하는 인공신경망과 이를 활용하는 IoT 시스템을 소개한다. 에어컨과 보일러가 특정 시작 온도에서 특정 목표 온도로 집안을 냉난방 하는데 걸리는 시간에 영향을 주는 변수는 집안의 구조, 집안의 크기, 외부 날씨 환경 등으로 매우 다양하다. 그중에서 측정 가능한 변수인 집안 온도, 집안 습도, 외부 온도, 외부 습도, 풍향, 풍도, 풍속 냉각 효과를 활용하여 학습데이터를 만들고 최적의 인공신경망을 구축하였다. 인공신경망을 구축한 후에는 이를 활용하는 IoT 시스템을 개발하였다. IoT 시스템은 라즈베리파이3 기반의 메인 시스템과 안드로이드 기반의 모바일 애플리케이션으로 구성하였다. 인공신경망을 활용하기 위해 모바일 애플리케이션의 GPS 센서를 활용하여 사용자의 이동 분석하고 귀가 시간을 예측하는 기능을 구현하였다.

ASBR(Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor) 공정의 F/R비가 암모니아가 탈기된 축산폐수의 유기물 제거에 미치는 영향 (Effect of F/R ratio of ASBR (Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor) Process on Removal of the Organic Matters in Ammonia Stripped Swine Wastewater)

  • Lab-scale experiments have been carried out to investigate the effect of F/R ratio of ASBR (Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor) process on the removal of the organic matters in ammonia stripped swine wastewater. Three ASBR inoculated with sludge mixed with granular sludge of UASB (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) and anaerobic digested sludge of municipal wastewater treatment plant were operated. Ammonia stripped swine wastewater was used as influent. Prior to conducting the experiments with varied conditions, the effect of increasing organic loading rate from 2.34 to $5.79gTCOD_{Cr}/L$-day at a fixed F/R ratio of 0.1 on the organic removal efficiency has been studied during start-up period. As the result of the experiment, under the condition of varied organic loadings, less than $4.14gTCOD_{Cr}/L$-day, the removed efficiency $TCOD_{Cr}$ of the ASBR process is 83% resulted from the mean value of effluent $TCOD_{Cr}$, 9,125 mg/L during the start-up period. Then ASBRs were operated with F/R ratio of 0.024, 0.303 and 0.91 respectively. Organic loading rate was increased from 4.56 to $15.43gTCOD_{Cr}/L$-day to investigate the effects of F/R ratio and organic loading rate on the organic removal efficiency. As the result of the experiment, less than $6.23gTCOD_{Cr}/L$/L-day, F/R ratio haven't an effect on the organic removal efficiency and the mean removal efficiency of TSS, $TCOD_{Cr}$ and $SCOD_{Cr}$ was about 80%, 86% and 78% at the all of F/R ratio. But as organic loading rate was increased from 8.54 to $12.04gTCOD_{Cr}/L$-day at the F/R ratio of 0.024, the removal efficiency of $SCOD_{Cr}$ decreased from 71% to 63%. The range of decreased removal efficiency of $SCOD_{Cr}$ at the F/R ratio of 0.024 was much more higher than at the F/R ratio of 0.303, 0.91. Thus, as organic loading rate was increased, ASBRs were operated with high F/R ratio to obtain high removal efficiency.

연속수소생성에 사용되는 고온 CSTR 내의 미생물의 분자적 분석 (Molecular Analysis of the Microorganisms in a Thermophilic CSTR used for Continuous Biohydrogen Production)

  • 1. 고온 CSTR은 비교적 짧은 start-up 기간과 높은 $H_2$ 수율을 나타내었다. $H_2$ 생산속도와 $H_2$ 수율의 안정화를 근거로 판단컨대 start-up 기간은 30일 이내이었으며, 최고 $H_2$ 수율은 2.4 mol $H_2/mol$ glucose이었다. 2. 비교적 긴 HRT와 침전조를 이용한 biomass의 재순환에도 불구하고, 유입 포도당의 농도가 낮아 biomass 농도는 다른 중온 반응기에서 보고된 것에 비해 낮은 편이었다. 3. 운전 초기에 $CH_4$이 발생하였으나 8일 이후부터는 pH를 1.0 이하로 유지하였더니 14일 이후로는 거의 검출되지 않는 것으로 봐서 메탄생성균이 식종균에 남아 있더라도 반응기 운전조건을 통해 $CH_4$ 발생을 억제할 수 있었다. 4. 식종 미생물과 반응기로부터 취한 시료의 DGGE band 패튼이 다른 것으로 보아 고온 CSTR 조건에서 식종된 미생물 군집의 조성이 변화하였음을 알 수 있었다. 5. DGGE 분석결과 초기 43일간의 운전기간 동안에 관찰된 미생물 군집조성은 동적인 변화를 나타내었다. 약 14일부터는 biogas 조성이 거의 일정하였으나 미생물 군집은 동적 변화를 나타내었다. F. gondwanens와 T. Thermoanaerobacterium과 계통발생학적으로 가장 연관이 있는 개체군들이 운전 21일과 41일째에 각각 우점으로 나타났다. 6. 본 연구에서 식종 슬러지를 열처리하는데 사용한 조건은 메탄생성균을 완전히 제거하는데 불충분하다는 것은 운전 초기에 $CH_4$이 biogas에서 검출되었고, 식종 슬러지와 반응기로부터 취한 시료에서 메탄생성균이 가지는 mcrA 유전자가 PCR로 증폭되었으므로 알 수 있었다. 7. 메탄생성균의 주요 목에 특이적인 primers를 사용하여 PCR을 실시한 결과 식종슬러지에 있는 메탄생성균들은 주로 Methanosarcinales와 Methanomicrobiales 목에 속하였으며, $CH_4$이 발생했던 때의 반응기에 있는 메탄생성균들은 주로 Methanobacteriales 목에 해당되는 것으로 나타났다.

LPG 연료의 플라즈마 개질 특성연구 (Characteristics of LPG Fuel Reforming Utilizing Plasma Reformer)

  • 본 연구에서는 플라즈마 반응기를 이용한 자동차용 LPG 연료의 개질 특성에 대해서 실험하였다. 실험에서 사용된 플라즈마 반응기술은 종전의 촉매반응기술에 비해서 빠른 기동시간 및 연소기 부하변동 응답성, 단순하고 소형화가 가능한 장점을 가지고 있어 차량의 온-보드형 개질에 적합하다. 본 개질 반응의 특성을 평가하기 위해 플라즈마 반응기로 공급되는 $O_2$/C 비와 공급되는 공기와 LPG의 총 유량 및 플라즈마 공급전력을 주요 변수로 실험하였다. 공급되는 전력이 일정할 때, $O_2$/C 비 변화 실험에서는 완전산화 조건으로 갈수록 LPG 전환율은 증가하지만 수소의 선택도는 감소되었다. 높은 수소 선택도와 수율을 동시에 만족시키는 $O_2$/C 비는 20~50lpm 조건에서 0.8~0.9 이었으며, 총 유량이 증가할수록 LPG 전환율과 수소 수율이 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다.

300MW급 IGCC를 위한 건식 분류층 석탄 가스화 공정의 동적 상태 모사 (The Process Simulation of Entrained Flow Coal Gasification in Dynamic State for 300MW IGCC)

  • To develop coal gasfication system, many studies have been actively conducted to describe the simulation of steady state. Now, it is necessary to study the gasification system not only in steady state but also in dynamic state to elucidate abnormal condition such as start-up, shut-down, disturbance, and develop control logic. In this study, a model was proposed with process simulation in dynamic state being conducted using a chemical process simulation tool, where a heat and mass transfer model in the gasifier is incorporated, The proposed model was verified by comparison of the results of the simulation with those available from NETL (National Energy Technology Laboratory) report under steady state condition. The simulation results were that the coal gas efficiency was 80.7%, gas thermal efficiency was 95.4%, which indicated the error was under 1 %. Also, the compositions of syngas were similar to those of the NETL report. Controlled variables of the proposed model was verified by increasing oxygen flow rate to gasifier in order to validate the dynamic state of the system. As a result, trends of major process variables were resonable when oxygen flow rate increased by 5% from the steady state value. Coal flow rate to gasifier and quench gas flow rate were increased, and flow rate of liquid slag was also increased. The proposed model in this study is able to be used for the prediction of gasification of various coals and dynamic analysis of coal gasification.

오징어 채낚기 어선의 추진기 개선을 통한 성능향상 (Improving of propulsion performance of 24 ton class squid jigging vessel)

  • In this study, a new designed propeller was applied on 24 ton class squid jigging vessel to reduce of fuel consumption. The selected squid jigging boat was under construction at the shipyard to determine the resistance of the hull through the model experiment. The propeller design was carried out by using the experimental data and ITTC procedures. Sea trials were performed by measuring the speed and the horsepower required by the condition of five power levels of engine load, namely 70%, 80%, 90%, MCR and maximum engine power. The speed and delivered horse power were compared between the conventional propeller and the new design propeller. Delivered horse power by installing the new propeller takes 90% engine load at start-up conducted by decreased 9.06%. The measuring speed is increased up to the 0.6 knots in the low-speed range to high range. This study showed that only the design and installation of a new propeller can improve the propulsion efficiency of the boats; furthermore, reduce fuel costs can be achieved at the same time by improving the increased cruising speed.
