  • Astronomy is a good area to introduce a student to the study of science. The student often questions what causes the change in seasons, in the day and right, and in the rotation of stars, etc. Attempts to find answers to problems related to these astronomical observations influence the student`s intellectual development. This study is to investigate the effect of running an astronomical observations program on the preservice elementary teachers' astronomy achievement, astronomy teaching efficacy beliefs, and scientific attitude. Students consist of twenty four preservice elementary teachers. Three instruments are used: one is the astronomy achievement test, which is of an essay type, and 5 items. The other is the astronomy teaching efficacy beliefs test, which is of a Likert scale type, and 22 items. Another is the scientific attitude test, which is of the Likert scale type, and 10 items. Data are collected before and after instruction in the astronomical observations program, through the use of these tests. Data are compared. The results are: \circled1There is a significant difference between before and after instructions in the astronomy achievement test(t=11.31, p=000). \circled2There is a significant difference between before and after instructions in the astronomy teaching efficacy beliefs test(t=5.98, p=.000). \circled3There is a significant difference between before and after instructions in the scientific attitude test(t=270, pde. There fore, the a=.013). As a result, running an astronomical observations program has an effect on the preservice elementary teachers' astrono my achievement, astronomy teaching efficacy beliefs, and scientific attituuthor urges the teacher to teach astronomy through the astronomical observations in school.

  • Photoelectric observations of close binary stars, AO Cam and AW Cam, were made during the 1984 observing season with the 61cm reflector at the Sobaeksan Observatory. One time of primary minimum for AO Cam and three primary epochs for AW Cam were derived from the observations of these two systems. Times of minimum light of these two binaries collected from literature were analyzed with a least square fitting method. New improved light elements for AO Cam and AW Cam were determined. The orbital period of AO Cam had been constant from Octobar, 1980 (JD 244520) to February, 1985 (JD 2446107). However, one secondary time of minimum (JD 2447864.7879) of AO Cam published recently by Mullis and Faulkner(1991) shows large deviation of about 4.6 minutes ($0^d.0032$) from the one predicted by our new light elements. Future observations of times of minima for this system are needed to test this period change. The orbital period of AW Cam has been constant as P=$0^d.77134645$ for about sixty years from the early 1930's to the present.

  • We present GALEX (Galaxy Evolution Explorer) far (FUV) and near (NUV) ultraviolet imaging of 34 nearby early-type galaxies from the SAURON representative sample of 48 E/S0 galaxies, all of which have ground-based optical imaging from the MDM Observatory. The surface brightness profiles of nine galaxies (~26 per cent) show regions with blue UV-optical colours suggesting recent star formation. Five of these (~15 per cent) show blue integrated UV-optical colours that set them aside in the NUV integrated colour-magnitude relation. These are objects with either exceptionally intense and localised NUV fluxes or blue UV-optical colours throughout. They also have other properties confirming they have had recent star formation, in particular Hbeta absorption higher than expected for a quiescent population and a higher CO detection rate. This suggests that residual star formation is more common in early-type galaxies than we are used to believe. NUV-blue galaxies are generally drawn from the lower stellar velocity dispersion (sigma_e <200 km/s) and thus lower dynamical mass part of the sample. We have also constructed the first UV Fundamental Planes and show that NUV blue galaxies bias the slopes and increase the scatters. If they are eliminated the fits get closer to expectations from the virial theorem. Although our analysis is based on a limited sample, it seems that a dominant fraction of the tilt and scatter of the UV Fundamental Planes is due to the presence of young stars in preferentially low-mass early-type galaxies.

  • We present a study of correlations between the elemental abundances and galaxy morphologies of 91 blue compact galaxies (BCGs) at z=0.20-0.35 with Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) DR7 data. We classify the morphologies of the galaxies as either 'disturbed' or 'undisturbed', by visual inspection of the SDSS images, and using the Gini coefficient and M20. We derive oxygen and nitrogen abundances using the Te method. We find that a substantial fraction of BCGs with disturbed morphologies, indicative of merger remnants, show relatively high N/O and low O/H abundance ratios. The majority of the disturbed BCGs exhibit higher N/O values at a given O/H value compared to the morphologically undisturbed galaxies, implying more efficient nitrogen enrichment in disturbed BCGs. We detect Wolf-Rayet (WR) features in only a handful of the disturbed BCGs, which appears to contradict the idea that WR stars are responsible for high nitrogen abundance. Combining these results with Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) GR6 ultraviolet (UV) data, we find that the majority of the disturbed BCGs show systematically lower values of the $H{\alpha}$ to near-UV star formation rate ratio. The equivalent width of the $H{\beta}$ emission line is also systematically lower in the disturbed BCGs. Based on these results, we infer that disturbed BCGs have undergone star formation over relatively longer time scales, resulting in a more continuous enrichment of nitrogen. We suggest that this correlation between morphology and chemical abundances in BCGs is due to a difference in their recent star formation histories.

  • star formation is one of the hottest areas in astromy and increasing evidence is showing that star formation is actually a highly dynamic precess driven and strongly influenced by turbulent dynamics of molecular clouds. despite significant progress ir observation in process of star formation, earliest stage of star formation remains imcomplete. so, computer simulations are essential tool since the complex dynamics of star formation. We have performed simulation about the process of low mass star formation using the SPH simulation. we use the dragon-code, the most advanced star formation N-body Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) codes. We present how change the internal properties and how should evolve, while changing the values for Mass turbulence, central density and so on. ( mass range of values is 0.1 < M < $5\;M{\odot}$) based on this results, we discussed their circumstellar, characteristics they were borned and how they will evove while the Birth of low mass stars from interstellar cloud.
