Shear bond strength of zirconia to resin: The effects of specimen preparation and loading procedure

  • PURPOSE. Shear bond strength (SBS) test is the most commonly used method for evaluating resin bond strength of zirconia, but SBS results vary among different studies even when evaluating the same bonding strategy. The purpose of this study was to promote standardization of the SBS test in evaluating zirconia ceramic bonding and to investigate factors that may affect the SBS value of a zirconia/resin cement/composite resin bonding specimen. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The zirconia/resin cement/composite resin bonding specimens were used to simulate loading with a shear force by the three-dimensional finite element (3D FE) modeling, in which stress distribution under uniform/non-uniform load, and different resin cement thickness and different elastic modulus of resin composite were analyzed. In vitro SBS test was also performed to validate the results of 3D FE analysis. RESULTS. The loading flat width was an important affecting factor. 3D FE analysis also showed that differences in resin cement layer thickness and resin composite would lead to the variations of stress accumulation area. The SBS test result showed that the load for preparing a SBS specimen is negatively correlated with the resin cement thickness and positively correlated with SBS values. CONCLUSION. When preparing a SBS specimen for evaluating bond performance, the load flat width, the load applied during cementation, and the different composite resins used affect the SBS results and therefore should be standardized.

  • In this paper, the trends for the standardization of the product model was surveyed, and the product model can be used as concrete means to realize the communication of information between the CAD/CAM softwares, which are used for the design and manufacturing of the complex products such as ships. We have proposed the newly developed methodology for the representation and definition of the ship model on a basis of the product model. And also we have studied the product modeling technology for the aspect of an application, and the object-oriented system technology have been surveyed for the system implementation issues. We would like to verify the consistency and correctness of our proposed representation methodology by using the prototype application model, which is applied to design work of ship compartmentation model. For this purpose we have developed the "OO_COMDEF"(which means the Object-Oriented System for the Compartmentation Definition of ship) program that is applied to the compartmentation model which can be considered as a submodel of the general ship models. The results of research work have been proved that the representation methodology for the ship model based on the product model is an efficient and appropriate scheme for the ship model definitions. Consequently, this methodology can be proposed as a fundamental framework for the development of the shipbuilding CAD/CAM system.

  • Recently, the mobile users seem to be rapidly increasing and then the capacity limit will be reached at close hand. In these situations, to provide them with good quality of service in the coming future, newly planned cell design is needed. In the next generation mobile communication systems, namely IMT-2000, good quality services will be possible only by designing the cell structure hierarchically with the help of appropriate cell planning. In the research process, the standardization reports on the future mobile cellular IMT-2000 system (3GPP) are investigated and the parameters, that are essential to cell planning, are also researched. Modeling of IMT-2000 radio link and the numerical analysis on that make it possible to calculate the forward/reverse link budget, system capacity call blocking probability Erlang capacity and cell coverage. In planning the cell of IMT-2000 system, various parameters are considered, such as hierarchical cell structure, number of users, data service forms and propagation area environments. From the results, efficient cell planning methods are proposed. Through this thesis efficient cell planning and maximum capacity will be achieved in the beginning of commercial IMT-2000 service.

  • ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) is comprised of a number of advanced technologies, including information processing, communications, control, and electronics. Joining these technologies to the transportation system will save lives more safely, save time, and save money more efficiently. The National ITS Architecture provides a common framework for planning, defining, and integrating intelligent transportation systems. Most ITS projects are being designed and implemented in accordance with the National ITS Architecture, a reference framework that spans all of standards activities. Recently, as software technology is rapidly improved and stabilized, there are some needs to reuse pre-developed and powerful ITS technology. ITS standardization based on components and open interfaces becomes a way to solve these reusability of current ITS technology. This paper focuses on how could we design and implement the ITS component based on the National ITS Architecture. Furthermore, design and analysis of UML (Unified Modeling Language) was made through the ATIS (Advanced Traveller Information System) component development task and this UML methodology is expected to provide a standardized model for newly developed ITS components.

  • The present code generation system, developing based on single system, Is not easy for developers or maintenance men to share pattern design information in distribution environment. So in this paper, we design and implement XML as basis of web environment, and JiKU/XML object-oriented code generator using pattern design. We use UML to change pattern design to XML code, and create code, suitable to PIML command, to generate design information designed by UML into XML code. This JiKU/XML Object-oriented Code Generator makes 10-step codes, and can be easily applied to web environment. It complements the disadvantage of present generator, F77/J++, and makes standardization of design because it uses UML and design pattern information. We compare it with present system by implement Eases, and as a result, generator suggested in this study gives more effective function.

  • 현재 우리나라에서는 행정안전부의 풍수해저감종합계획, 사전재해영향성검토협의, 재해위험지구개선사업 등에 해외에서 개발된 상용프로그램이 사용돼 접근성 저하로 인해 지자체 방재담당자의 실무나 대학에서 연구용으로 다루기에는 한계가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 내수침수, 외수침수, 2차원 침수해석으로 구성하여 GUI 기능을 강화한 통합침수재해지도 작성시스템(i-FIM, Integrated Flood Inundation Modeling system)을 개발하여 입력자료의 구성 및 매개변수의 수정이 용이하게 함으로써 하수관망 등에 부분적인 설계 변경이 있는 경우 지자체 방재담당자가 간단한 작업을 통해 침수영향 변화를 쉽게 파악할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한, 상세한 지형의 반영이 필요한 도시지역의 2차원 침수해석의 경우 계산격자 망의 크기가 작아질수록 소요되는 계산시간이 기하급수적으로 증가하는 한계가 있어 i-FIM에서는 계산격자를 $2{\times}2$, $3{\times}3$, $5{\times}5$ Subgrid 형태의 격자를 적용하고, 병렬프로그래밍과 계산시간조정 기능을 추가하여 2차원 침수해석 모형의 계산 속도를 향상시켰다. 이를 실무에 적용하기 앞서 2006년 집중호우로 인해 안성시에서 발생한 제방 붕괴사상, 2016년 태풍 차바로 인해 울산시에서 발생한 제방 월류 사상을 통해 침수흔적도와 비교하여 검증을 실시하였다. i-FIM에서 최종적인 2차원 침수해석 결과는 2017년에 개정된 '재해지도 작성 기준 등에 관한 지침'의 침수심 등급 구분의 색채 설정에 따라 각 격자별 침수심을 표출함으로써 표준화된 재해지도 작성이 가능하도록 하였다. 또한, 포털사이트의 지도 및 위성지도에 표출함으로써 침수 위험이 발생할 수 있는 지역의 현재 이용 용도를 파악하여 침수재해에 대한 상세한 대책을 마련할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Value Co-creation Modeling of DonorsChoose's Donation-based Crowdfunding (DonorsChoose의 기부형 크라우드펀딩에 기반한 가치공동창출 모델링)

  • Donation-based crowdfunding(DBC) is conducted from voluntary participation by project operators. It requires a different operational strategy than general crowdfunding. However, there is a limited amount of research on the operational strategy of DBC. This study explores the value co-creation(VCC) strategy of DBC and analyzes the operation of DonorsChoose.org. The research questions encompass the following: First, we identify the VCC activities of DBC. Second, we uncover activities of the platform operators that facilitate the participation of project operators in VCC activities. Third, we explore how VCC activities affect project operational performance and platform performance in DBC. By adopting a single case study method on DonorsChoose.org, this study provides meaningful insight and detailed understanding into the VCC in DBC. First, VCC processes of DBC are identified(Co-ideation, Co-design, Co-funding, Co-operation, and Co-evaluation). Also, interactions between platform operators and project operators were defined at each stage. Second, this study confirmed that standardization and simplification of platform operators, support for pre- and post-activity, and high-quality information delivery activities were critical. Third, we confirm that these VCC activities improve VCC operational performance and platform performance. The theoretical significance of this study is that the concept of VCC, previously concentrated on participants with economic drivers(consumers and investors), has been applied to the context of DBC, a form of participation by participants with non-economic drivers(supporters and donors). In addition, this study practically contributes to the practice of VCC strategy among various platform operating strategies in DBC.

The Research of the Modularity of Federation Object Model to Improve Interoperability of RTI-based Simulations (RTI기반 시뮬레이션의 상호운용성 향상을 위한 연동모델의 모듈화 방안에 대한 연구)

  • Recently, software industry regarding national defense increases system development of distributed simulation system of M&S based to overcome limit of resource and expense. It is one of key technologies for offering of mutual validation among objects and reuse of objects which are discussed for developing these systems. RTI, implementation of HLA interface specification as software providing these technologies uses Federation Object Model for exchanging information with joined federates in the federation and each federate has a characteristic that is supposed to have identical FOM in the federation. This paper presents a characteristic of Base Object Model, SISO standardization for improving reuse and interoperability of Federation Object Model applied simulation network manager based HLA/RTI and suggests method of designing the structure of simulation network manager through the modularity of Federation Object Model.

An Intelligent Approach for Reorganization Record Classification Schemes in Public Institutions: Case Study on L Institution (공공기관 기록물 분류체계 재정비를 위한 지능화 방안: L 기관 사례를 중심으로)

  • As social and political paradigms change, public institution tasks and structures are constantly created, integrated, or abolished. From an effective record management perspective, it is necessary to review whether the previously established record classification schemes reflect these changes and remain relevant to current tasks. However, in most institutions, the restructuring process relies on manual labor and the experiential judgment of practitioners or institutional record managers, making it difficult to reflect changes in a timely manner or comprehensively understand the overall context. To address these issues and improve the efficiency of record management, this study proposes an approach using automation and intelligence technologies to restructure the classification schemes, ensuring records are filed within an appropriate context. Furthermore, the proposed approach was applied to the target institution, its results were used as the basis for interviews with the practitioners to verify the effectiveness and limitations of the approach. It is, aiming to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the restructured record classification schemes and promote the standardization of record management.

A Study on the Railroad Logistics Information Standardization and Information System Improvement (철도 물류 정보 표준화 방안 및 정보시스템 개선에 대한 연구)

  • Railroad logistics transporting freight by train takes charge of 10 or 20 percent of domestic cargos. Railroad logistics users such as transport companies including shippers or Inland Container Depot(ICD) use electronic document(EDI or XML) or input data through WEB to process railroad logistics business. However, as business environments evolving into e-business, it is required to upgrade the legacy railroad logistics process. As the increase of using ebXML-based schema format, it is also needed to improve the electronic documents based on DTD format into those of XML schema format. This study deals with information standard for railroad logistics to improve the railroad logistics business. To this purpose railroad business processes were re-defined through the standard business process modeling methodology. Information model was also derived by defining railroad logistics activities from business process model. And Business Information Entities(BIEs) were defined to design new electronic documents according to the extracted information model. An improved system architecture for railroad logistics was proposed as well. The results of this study will provide an effective and flexible business flow to railroad logistics business.
