  • The plater work in the standard of estimate presents a variety of construction types. However, there is a part that does not fit the change of specification standards and on-site construction status, and it was revised in 2019's standard of estimate. In this study, we analyzed in detail the factors affecting the changes in estimating standards in the plater work. There were changes in the specification standards previously presented as primary coat, secondary coat, and formal coat as well as changes in on-site construction status such as thickness according to the number of plastering. Therefore, it is analyzed that the estimating standards can be classified by the number of finishes according to the site conditions by reflecting the analysis of the specification standards and site application status, and suggesting the finishing standards according to the number of plastering.

  • It is an important issue in cost management to contract with the standard of cost estimate by the reasonable way in public construction projects. For the standard of cost estimate based on the Standard Estimating System, there is a difference of labor inputs between Standard Estimating System and actual quantities in construction projects. The duration of form work in multi-family housing depends on the manpower compared with other work, which is the critical path on the schedule management to be decided quality, and is the important to the cost management of construction projects. This study presented a simulation model of the productivity analysis for selecting the standard work type of form work in Multi-family housing construction projects.

  • Standard Estimating System, which can be used for estimating a construction cost, has been pointed out having some problems such as non-reflecting a variety of construction environments and site conditions, non-adapting new technologies and methods since it was established in 1970. For solving these problems, the Korean Institute of Construction Technology(KICT) has chosen organizations for amending Standard Estimating System. However they have had many mistakes in the process of amending works because of non-establishing amending process and absence of the depreciation measurement method. This research derived the necessity to improve the amending process of the Standard Estimating System, and presented the detailed amending process and the performing method in the each process. Furthermore, this research proposed the depreciation measurement method available for the construction industry by means of analyzing researches that performed in the manufacturing industry and the measurement method for depreciation of general accounts.

  • Needs for developing a better way of cost estimating process for public construction projects have been widely recognized. Those needs are mainly from the early phases of the project through the construction life cycle due to the its importance to the control process. In contrast to the traditional estimating method based on unit-price references, this research utilized this following process. The first step is analyzing the real cost data from actual cost activities (2000~2010) about the statement of P.S.C(Prestressed Concrete) Box Girder Bridge. The collected data was broken into four categories based on technical construction methods such as I.L.M(Incremental Launching Method), M.S.S(Movable Scaffolding System), F.S.M(Full Staging Method), and F.C.M(Free Cantilever Method). The second, actual design documents including the actual cost estimating documents, drawings and specifications were carefully reviewed to cluster the cost itemized statement from four categories. It was also attempted to seek the proper breakdown of standard works that are responsible for more than 95 percentage in each categories in terms of its cost. The third, this research comes up the index for standard unit materials and unit price of standard work and develops the approximate estimating model applying for the specification(length and breadth of bridges) per square area that the user takes as well as suggests the practical application plan within the original time alloted.

  • Reinforced concrete is the most widely used construction method for constructing structures. There is a lot of process for constructing Reinforced concrete structures such as installing rebars, molds and support, mixing and placing concrete, and curing. So the reinforced concrete work accounts for a large part of the total construction cost for constructing structure. For this reason a reasonable standard for estimating the cost of reinforced concrete construction has to be established and it will be possible to secure appropriate costs for construction work. In this study, we analyze the revision factors of the standard for estimating the cost of reinforced concrete construction and present them to secure reasonable construction costs.

  • A new and extendable highway should be planned and budgeted by estimating the total construction cost on the basis of the precise cost data. However, the demolition or disjointing cost could not reflect construction site condition sufficiently because it was simply estimated by multiplying the highway structure installation cost by the regular ratio($10\~70\%$) specified in the Korea Standard Estimate. The regular ratio for estimating of demolition and disjointing cost was calculated by not actual construction cost data but subjective experiences of field manager. Therefore, the reliance of the estimated demolition or disjointing cost has been declined. The primary objective of this study is to purpose the standard for estimating proper demolition or disjointing cost of relevant items through various site analysis and survey, and to investigate on the propriety of ratio-unit price method for estimating demolition and disjointing cost.

  • For estimating a net removal of carbon dioxides from a forest carbon offset project, it is necessary to consider secondary emissions occurred from the use of machineries or vehicles. According to the forest carbon standard in Korea, a default rate (5%) could be applied for estimating secondary emissions of small projects, which provide annual net removals less than or equal to $600tCO_2$, while secondary emissions should be estimated for larger projects with field survey. In this study, we intended to develop a methodology for estimating the secondary emission of a forest carbon project. For this purpose, we analyzed the working process and the carbon emissions of the forest management activities for major tree species in Korea. Based on the developed methodology, we estimated the secondary carbon emission of a reforestation project. The result showed that the secondary carbon emission of a reforestation project was estimated between 0.42% and 1.19 % compared to net removals, that is to say that the current default rate in the forest carbon standard could give an overestimated secondary emission.

  • The resource-based estimating based on standard unit price of construction work was estimated by multiplying the price per standard unit of work on the amount of labor, material, equipment use time. However, limitation of the resource-based estimating way does not adequately reflect the actual transactions prices. On the subject of water tunnel excavation as a new attempt to overcome these limitations, this study analyzed productivity by work type into cutter inspection/ exchange, TBM maintenance, TBM inspection/refueling, subsequent installations, tramcar, operating change, a cave-underground reinforcement / rock reinforcement, safety / meetings and analyzed actual cost estimating and the net advance rate based on this analysis result. Actual cost estimating calculation approach presented in this study can be utilized as a useful tool to predict the actual cost estimating in the TBM water tunnels field.

  • As use of construction equipment has been increasing continuingly, the proportion of equipment expense to the total construction cost has become higher. However, there is a difference between the equipment expenses section in 'Poom-Sam' and practical data, because 'Poom-sam' does not consider non-working days due to weather conditions, legal holidays and management conditions. Therefore, 'Poom-Sam' does not present a reasonable standard for estimating construction equipment expenses. In this study, to estimate realistic construction equipment operating hours, firstly, construction equipment was classified according to work, and weather conditions, in which each work could not be executed, were established. Then, weather data on Seoul and Busan($2004{\sim}2006$) and legal holidays were analyzed to suggest annual standard operating hours. The annual standard operating hours of earthmoving & excavating, compaction, and drilling equipment was estimated to be 1,430 hours, and lifting equipment, concrete paving equipment, asphalt paving equipment, concrete equipment, and crushing & conveying equipment were estimated to be 2,124 hours, 1,156hours, 1,188hours, 1,688hours, and 2,152hours respectively.
