배전시스템에 DC 전력원을 적용하기 위한 제어 기법 설계 (Design of a control scheme for applying DC power sources to a distribution system)

  • A common DC bus is a useful connection for several DC output sources such as photovoltaic (PV), fuel cells, and batteries. Operation of the common DC power system with more than two DC output sources, especially in a stand-alone mode, requires a control scheme for the stable operation of the system. In this paper, a control scheme has been developed for applying DC power sources to the distribution system. The purpose of the control scheme is to make the best use of the DC power sources. The DC power system consists of PV, two energy storage systems and a DC-AC inverter with the control scheme. A distribution system was modeled in PSCAD/EMTDC. As the results, the control scheme is applied to the DC-AC inverter and the DC-DC converter for transfer operations between the grid-connected and the stand-alone mode to keep the DC bus and the AC voltage constant. The results from the simulation demonstrate the stable operation of a grid connected DC power system.

  • 본 논문에서는 신재생에너지원을 포함하는 독립형 마이크로그리드시스템의 멀티에이전트시스템 기반의 분산에너지관리시스템 설계를 위한 통합시뮬레이션 모델을 제안한다. 멀티에이전트기반 분산에너지관리시스템은 일반적인 중앙에너지관리시스템에 비해 여러 장점들을 가지고 있으나 각 상태에 따른 설계가 비교적 복잡하여 기존의 전력시스템 도구를 이용하여 분산 에너지관리시스템을 설계하기에는 많은 어려운 점들이 있었다. 또한 설계된 에너지관리시스템을 실제 시스템에 적용하여 평가하는 것은 비능률적이기 때문에 효과적인 에너지관시스템을 설계하기 위해서는 통합시뮬레이션 모델이 필요하다. 제안된 통합시뮬레이션 모델은 Matlab/Simpowersystem 기반의 마이크로그리드시스템의 시뮬레이션 모델과 이벤트기반의 알고리즘 설계에 많은 장점이 있는 Matlab/StateFlow을 이용하여 설계된 멀티에이전트기반의 분산에너지관리시스템으로 구성되었다. 통합시뮬레이션 모델의 효용성을 보이기 위하여 특정한 동작 조건들에서 제안된 모델의 출력들을 분석하였다.

  • The stand alone induction generator has been excited by capacitor bank or voltage source inverters. The conventional excitation methods offer several restrictions on the operation of the induction generator in various operating conditions. To overcome the restrictions, this paper presents the induction generator system excited by the current controlled inverter which operates on the principle of vector control. The proposed control scheme is based on the rotor flux oriented indirect vector control. The steady state characteristics are investigated to yield control ranges under various operating conditions. Through the simulation, it is confirmed that the system has good dynamic characteristics wi thin the controllable ranges given by the steady state analysis.

  • Based on the detailed analysis of output characteristics of PV array and residential load usage pattern, a design method to calculate optimal battery capacity for stand-alone PV generation systems is proposed. And also, according to power flow Actual irradiation and temperature data are analyzed to compose a PV array simulator and also six representative home appliances are electrically modeled for load simulator, along with 24hours usage pattern. The surplus and insufficient power can be calculated from the proposed simulation platform, so that selection of an optimal battery capacity can be possible. The theoretical analysis and design process will be explained, along with informative simulation results.

Personal Mobility 활용을 위한 소용량 PCS 개발 (Development of Small-capacity PCS for Personal Mobility Utilization)

  • This study conducted a study on a small-capacity PCS using lithium-ion batteries used in personal mobility. Most of the batteries in Personal Mobility only charge with external chargers and are used only as mobile energy sources. However, this paper aims to charge the battery of PM using PV and system power or to use the charged power as a stand-alone power supply. The developed PCS can be operated as a two-channel battery charger/discharger, a battery charger using solar power, and a stand-alone solar inverter depending on the operation method. The validity of the manufactured small-capacity PCS was verified through experiments.

독립형 마이크로그리드 내 분산전원별 최적용량 결정 방법 (Determining the Optimal Capacities of Distributed Generators Installed in A Stand-alone Microgrid Power System)

  • In recent years, the power demand has been increasing steadily and the occurrence of maximum power demand has been moving from the summer season to the winter season in Korea. And since the control of electric power supply and demand is more important under those situations, a micro-grid system began to emerge as a keyword for the sTable operation of electric power system. A micro-gird power system is composed of various kinds of distributed generators(DG) such as small diesel generator, wind turbine, photo-voltaic generator and energy storage system(ESS). This paper introduces a method to determine the optimal capacities of the distributed generators which are installed in a stand-alone type of microgrid power system based on the fundamental proportion of diesel generator. At first, the fundamental proportion of diesel generator will be determined by changing from 0 to 50 percent. And then we will optimize the capacities of renewable energy resources and ESS according to load patterns. Lastly, after recalculating the capacity of ESS with consideration for SOC constraints, the optimal capacities of distributed generators will be decided.

Smart Power Management System for Leisure-ship

  • A leisure ship has a stand-alone type power system, and a generator is in use on this condition. But the generator cannot be operated in condition of leisure activity, ocean measurement and etc, because of environment and noise. Recently, renewable energy system is connected with power system of the leisure-ship for saving energy. The renewable energy system can not supply the stable power to leisure-ship because power generation changes according to weather condition. And most of the leisure ship is operated without methodical power management system. This study's purpose is to develop SPMS(Smart Power Management System) algorithm using the renewable energy (photovoltaic, wind power and etc.). The proposed algorithm is able to supply stable the power according to operation mode. Furthermore, the SPMS manages electric load (sailing and communication equipment, TV, fan, etc.) and reduces operating times of the generator. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is realized and executed by using LabVIEW. As a result, the hour for operating the generator is minimized.

Modeling and Control Design of Dynamic Voltage Restorer in Microgrids Based on a Novel Composite Controller

  • A Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) model is proposed to eliminate the short-term voltage disturbances that occur in the grid-connected mode, the switching between grid-connected mode and the stand-alone mode of a Microgrid. The proposed DVR structure is based on a conventional cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter (MLI) topology; a novel composite control strategy is presented, which could ensure the compensation ability of voltage sag by the DVR. Moreover, the compensation to specified order of harmonic is added to implement effects that zero-steady error compensation to harmonic voltage in specified order of the presented control strategy; utilizing wind turbines-batteries units as DC energy storage components in the Microgrid, the operation cost of the DVR is reduced. When the Microgrid operates under stand-alone mode, the DVR can operate on microsource mode, which could ease the power supply from the main grid (distribution network) and consequently be favorable for energy saving and emission reduction. Simulation results validate the robustness and effective of the proposed DVR system.

에너지저장장치를 갖는 단상인버터에서 매끄러운 모드절환을 위한 알고리즘 개발 (A Seamless Mode Transfer Scheme for Single Phase Inverter with ESSs)

  • This paper proposes a mode transition algorithm between the grid-tied and the stand-alone operations for the single-phase inverter with the energy storage system. For the grid-tied operation, the dc-link voltage and the output current are required to be control. For the stand-alone mode, both the output voltage and the output current should be regulated. In order to mitigate a falling-off in control performance during transients in mode change, the load power estimation and the current selection schemes are proposed. The proposed method allows an optimized current reference is selected to reduce an output voltage drop and an excessive over-current in transient. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, both the simulation and the experiments for a 3kW single-phase inverter with the energy storage system have been conducted. From the results, it has been confirmed that the proposed method reduces a transient error as well as implementing smooth mode transition.

  • An Integrated Bridge System (IBS) is not an officially defined term, but a concept of which integrates on a consol at bridge the primary functions of stand-alone navigational aids and communication instruments or of stand-alone units which are integrated i.e. ARPA ECDIS It aims to enable officers on navigational watch to perform their duty without impairing proper lookout. IBS has been taking shape through a rapid development of navigation and communication systems in relation with bridge configuration bridge work station and one man bridge operation system. IBS related matters have been considered for years and is on the agenda of the International Maritime Organization(IMO) for its technical details and safety aspect of possible one-man watchkeeping at night. However IMO has made it clear that human element should be the key factor in considering IBS and single watchkeeping issue. In the development of IBS ergonomic element and human psychological aspect have been more emphasized than technical requirements. This paper refers to documents presented to the IMO and its progress made in various IMO technical meetings on the development of IBS which is perceived as an effective aid to proper bridge lookout and those standards adopted by classification societies on the composition of workstation at bridge in order to identify the international trend on regulating required equipment function of workstation of IBS the regulatory review process and technical recommendations related thereto.
