A Comparison Study on the Design of Dynamic Response appears on Bridge as operation of Light Railway Train (경량전철 주행 시 교량에 발생하는 동적응답 설계 비교 연구)

  • AGT system is a kind of light railway train. AGT system use of concrete track and rubber tire, so it can be reduce the noise and vibration, compare to the normal train system. And, the dynamic responses of normal bridge are influenced by the dynamic characteristics of bridge, the speed of vehicle and the surface roughness of railway. But the AGT system bridge is influenced not only the above facts but also the guiderail unevenness, because, AGT vehicle steered by guiderail. So, in this study, optimized service condition is suggested for the design and operation of AGT system, by the means of experimental study. The experiments are executed for PSC bridge with length of 30m, at the AGT test line in Kyongsan. The test results are compared and investigated according to the prominence. In the test result, the guiderail prominence influenced on the dynamic response of bridge. It shows a increase as compared with no guiderail prominence in the dynamic response value acceleration, displacement, stain.

Effective Identification of Rose Pollen Fertility using Staining Methods (장미화분 임성 확인을 위한 효율적인 염색법)

  • Efficient pollination needs abundant fertile pollen in rose breeding. This study was performed to find out efficient staining methods for the detection of fertile pollen. Aceto-carmine and Alexander's stain gave similar results in terms of percentage of normal pollen. Fluorochromatic reaction (FCR) showed the lowest normal pollen percentage because FCR stained only fertile pollen while others stained cytoplasm. Toluidine blue O (TB) showed similar percentage of normal pollen to Aceto-carmine and Alexander's, but could not clearly distinguish the clustered abnormal pollens. Alexander's stain was easy and simple, but difficult to distinguish fertile and infertile pollen. FCR showed only fertile pollen. Alexander's stain showed approximate fertility and FCR showed exact pollen fertility.

Effect of Swimming Exercise and Achyranthes Radix Extracts on Inflammatory and Pain Responses in Rheumatoid Arthritis Rats (류마티스 관절염 흰쥐에서 수중운동과 우슬추출물이 염증 및 통증 반응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects in inflammatory and pain status on rheumatoid arthritis(RA) induced rats by swimming exercise and Achyranthes Radix(AR) extracts ointment according to the application methods with the change of motor-behavioral and histochemistry study through the change of safranin o-fast green stain in the knee joint and prostaglandin $E_2(PGE_2)$ concentration production in serum for 28 days. They were randomly divided into four groups; Group I: RA induction, Group II: application of only swimming exercise after RA induction, Group III: application of only AR extracts ointment after RA induction, Group IV: application of both AR extracts ointment and swimming exercise after RA induction. The following results were obtained. Volume change of hind paw edema and arthritis indices test and arthritic dorsal flexion & plantar flexion pain test, group II, III, IV were showed that significantly decrease to each scores compared with group I (p<.01). Safranin o-fast green stain were showed histological indices, group II, III, IV were showed that significantly decrease the scores of cellular infiltration and synovial hyperplasia(p<.05), pannus formation and cartilage destruction(p<.01) compared with group I. Group IV were the most decreased compared with group II, III. The $PGE_2$ concentration of the group II, III, IV were decreased compared to the group I (p<.01) In conclusion, swimming exercise and AR extracts ointment acts were the most therapeutic intervention in inflammatory and pain control of RA induced rats.

Hemozoin Pigment: An Important Tool for Low Parasitemic Malarial Diagnosis

  • Low parasitemic condition in malaria remains a diagnostic challenge; as the available diagnostic methods failed to detect. Currently, hemozoin (Hz) pigment is gaining attention in the diagnosis of malaria. The major drawback is ease of detection of Hz in routine practice. A pilot study was conducted to evaluate the role of Hz pigment and to compare the performance of quantitative buffy coat assay (QBC) and PCR in such conditions. Clinically suspected cases of malaria were examined by both Giemsa stain and immunochromatographic test (ICT). Samples positive by ICT and negative by Giemsa stain were further examined by nested PCR targeting 18S rRNA and QBC for the presence of malaria parasites and pigments. Thirty blood samples fulfilled the inclusion criteria out of which 23 were Plasmodium vivax (Pv), 4 Plasmodium falciparum (Pf), and 3 mixed (Pv and Pf) by immunochromatographic test. Twenty-one out of 30 (70%) were positive by nested PCR in comparison to 25/30 (83%) by QBC. Samples containing both malaria parasites and Hz pigment by QBC completely showed concordance with the PCR result. However, 61% of total samples containing only Hz pigment were observed positive by PCR. Hz pigment remains an important tool for malaria diagnosis. Identification of leukocytes containing pigments by QBC not only indicates recent malarial infections but also puts light on severity of the disease. QBC assay is a rapid, highly sensitive, and cost-effective method to detect malaria parasites and Hz pigment especially in low parasitemic conditions.

A Study on the Development of Large Aluminum Flange using Casting/Forging Process (주조/단조 기술을 이용한 대형 알루미늄 플랜지 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The significance of casting/forging process for reducing the production cost of large components is being noted in these days. This casting/forging process is a method of forging a workpiece preformed by casting into the final shape. In this study, the casting/forging process has been applied in manufacturing a large aluminum flange in order to determine the optimum forging condition of the aluminum flange. The optimum range of forging temperature of Al 5083 was from $420^{\circ}C$ to $450^{\circ}C$. The suitable strain rate was 1.5 $sec^{-1}$. The deformation amount of a preform in a forging process is key role in the mechanical properties of casting/forging products. In order to find the change of mechanical properties according to effective stain of cast aluminum billets, a hot upsetting test were performed with rectangular blocks and then a uniaxial tensile test was performed with specimens cut from the upsetted billets. The tensile strength and the elongation of cast/upsetted aluminum billets were increased largely until the effective strain was 0.7. FE analysis was performed to determine the configurations of cast preform and die for an aluminum flange. In the FE analysis, the forging load-limit was fixed 1500ton for the low equipment cost. The cast preform was designed so that the effective stain around the neck of a flange exceeds 0.7. In the forging experiment for an aluminum flange, it was confirmed that the optimal configuration of the cast preform predicted by FE analysis was very useful. The cast/forged products using designed preform were made perfectly without any defects.

Inhibitory Effect of Injinchunggantang(Yinchenqinggan-tang) on Hepatic Sclerosis (인진청간탕(茵蔯淸肝湯)이 간보호(肝保護) 및 섬유화(纖維化) 억제(抑制)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Objective : The aim of this study is to investigate the inhibitory effect of Injinchunggantang on hepatic sclerosis induced by $CCl_4$. Methods : Weight, liver function test and complete blood cell count, gross findings, and findings on liver tissue of the past(Hematoxylin & Eosin stain, Masson-Trichrome stain) were studied. Results : When it comes to the change of rats' body weight, The $CCl_{4^+}$Injinchunggantang group lost far less weight than The $CCl_{4^-}$only group. In the liver function test, which is focused on various areas such as total cholesterol, alkaline phosphotase, albumin, aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, The $CCl_{4^+}$Injinchunggantang group was much more closer to normal limit than the $CCl_4$ only group. In the complete blood cell count, including white blood cell, red blood cell, hemoglobin, hematocrite, platelet, The $CCl_{4^+}$Injinchunggantang group significantly closer to normal limit than $CCl_{4^-}$only group. In the gross findings of hepatic fibrosis models, Injinchunggantang showed inhibitory effect on hepatic fibrosis in the order. In the past findings of hepatic fibrosis models in Hematoxylin & Eosin, Masson-Trichrome staining, the liver in $CCl_{4^-}$only group showed atrophy and necrotic change with white nodules, whereas that of $CCl_{4^+}$Injinchunggantang group showed lesser significant change with the well_preserved tone of the tissue. In the extent of the inhibition of the hepatic fibrosis, the Injinchunggantang group showed statistically significant inhibitory effect(p<0.05) in the sclerosis model. Conclusions : These results show that Injinchunggantang have inhibitory effect on hepatic sclerosis induced by $CCl_4$ and further ultimately prevent liver cirrhosis. To obtain more credible results in this experiment, the invention of a new experimental model more similar to human hepatic sclerosis is still needed.

Studies on antigenicity and production of monoclonal antibody for diagnosis of canine heartworm(Dirofilaria immitis) (개 심장사상충(Dirofilaria immitis) 진단을 위한 항원성 조사 및 단크론항체 생산)

  • In order to diagnose canine heartworm infection by antigen capture ELISA, the crude somatic(S), partial somatic(below 45kDa) and excretory/secretory(E/S) antigen of adult heartworm were identified and the antigenicity was examined by silver stain, immunoblot and ELISA. Then, production of monoclonal antibody to specific antigen carried out in this experiment. The bands to S antigen and E/S antigen were recognized between 10 and 200kDa and common bands were recognized strongly 14, 18, 28, 43kDa by silver stain. By western blot analysis, fractions to S antigen were recognized 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28, 32, 43, 50, 55kDa, etc. and only a 14kDa to E/S antigen in positive sera which were positive in modified Knott's test and necropsy. In ELISA, the positive sera reacted to antigens(SA, $SA_{45}$, E/S) were significantly different from negative sera by Student's t-test(p<0.05). Four hybridoma cell lines(14, 16, 17, 32kDa) than produce specific monoclonal antibodies for these antigens were obtained by immunizing BALB/c mice with a partially purified somatic antigen (below 45kDa) preparation, by fusing spleen cells with SP2/O cell myeloma cells, and by screening cell culture supernatants for antibody. In these results, it was confirmed that partial somatic antigen(below 45kDa) or E/S antigen can be used for serologic diagnosis of heartworm infection and monoclonal antibody reacting with specific antigen(14kDa) can be used for antigen capture ELISA in prepatent period of canine heartworm infection.

Damage inspection and performance evaluation of Jilin highway double-curved arch concrete bridge in China

  • Jilin highway concrete bridge is located in the center of Jilin City, which is positioned in the middle part in Jilin Province in the east north of China. This bridge crosses the Songhua River and connects the north and the south of Jilin City. The main purpose of damages inspection of the bridge components is to ensure the safety of a bridge and to identify any maintenance, repair, or strengthening which that need to be carried out. The damages that occur in reinforced concrete bridges include different types of cracks, scalling and spalling of concrete, corrosion of steel reinforcement, deformation, excessive deflection, and stain. The main objectives of this study are to inspect the appearance of Jilin highway concrete bridge and describe all the damages in the bridge structural members, and to evaluate the structural performance of the bridge structure under dead and live loads. The tests adopted in this study are: (a) the depth of concrete carbonation test, (b) compressive strength of concrete test, (c) corrosion of steel test, (d) static load test, and (e) dynamic load test. According to the damages inspection of the bridge structure appearance, most components of the bridge are in good conditions with the exception arch waves, spandrel arch, deck pavement of new arch bridge, and corbel of simply supported bridge which suffer from serious damages. Load tests results show that the deflection, strain, and cracks development satisfy the requirements of the standards.

Liquefaction Potential for Coal Ash Mixed Sand by Strain-Controlled Cyclic Triaxial Test (변형률제어 진동삼축시험법을 이용한 석탄회가 혼합된 모래시료의 액상화 평가)

  • 본 논문에서는 석탄회 매립지반의 액상화 가능성을 평가하기 위해 순수 모래시료와 더불어서 모래시료와 석탄회가 혼합된 모래시료에 대한 일련의 진동삼축실험을 변형률제어 방법으로 수행하였다. 실험결과 진동하중에 의해서 시료 내에 발생하는 간극수압의 크기는 작용하는 전단변형률의 크기에 심각하게 영향을 받고, 작용하는 전단변형률이 지반의 한계전단변형률 보다 작은 경우에는 진동수가 높은 조건에서도 간극수압이 발생하지 않음을 알았다. 또한 전단변형률이 약 0.1%보다 작고 한계전단변형률에 가까운 경우에는 순수 모래시료와 비교하여 본 논문에서 조사한 석탄회 함유율 범위 (10%~30%)의 시료에서 간극수압이 더 크게 발생하였다. 반면에, 전단변형률이 큰 경우에는 순수 모래시료에서 간극수압이 크게 발생하는 추세를 보였다. 반복 전단에 따른 간극수압의 발생량은 전반적으로 석탄회 함유율이 증가할수록 커지는 경향을 보였다. 이러한 결과를 근거로 해안이나 하천에 인접한 한계지 개발에 있어서 사질토에 석탄회를 혼합 매립하여 지반을 조성하는 경우에 액상화에 대해서 불안정한 지반이 될 가능성이 있는 것으로 판단되었다.

A study on the Manufacture and Application of UV-Cured Multi-Function(Anti-Stain/Virus) Coating Compounds for PVC Tile (PVC 바닥상재용 광경화형 복합기능(내오염/항균)성 코팅액의 제조 및 응용에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 건축자재로 널리 사용되는 PVC바닥상재 표면에 내오염성과 항균성을 증가시키기 위한 광경화형 코팅액 개발에 관한 것이다. PVC 바닥상재용으로 사용되는 우레탄-아크릴 수지에 수용성 대전방지제와 항균제를 배합하여 오염 및 정전기로부터 보호하고 미생물에 의한 전염성질환을 예방할 수 있는 광경화형 내오염/항균 코팅액에 관한 실험을 수행하였다. 연구결과, 수지에 수용성대전방지제 15%와 항균제 1%를 혼합하여 제조한 코팅액을 Bar-coater No.12로 코팅한 표면이 전기저항($10^9\Omega/cm^2$), 내오염도(매직 Test, 먼지부착 Test) 및 부착력(100%) 양호, 항균성(99.99%)로 가장 좋은 물성을 보였다.
