  • Feul-Cell system consists of fuel reformer, stack and energy translator. Among these parts, stack is a core part which produces electricity directly. In order to set a stack module, fabrication of appropriate stack, design of water flow path in stack and control of coolant are needed. Especially, oater or air is used as a coolant to dissipate heat. The different temperature of each electric cell after cooling affects the performance of the stack. Therefore, it is necessary that the relationship between coolant hearing rate, width of stack, properties of stack, and the shape of water flow path must be understood. For the optimal design, the computational simulation by CFD-ACE has been conducted and the resulting database has been constructed.

  • Feul-cell system consists of fuel reformer, stack and energy translator. Among these parts, slack is a core part which produces electricity directly. In order to set a stack module, fabrication of appropriate stack, design of water flow path in stack, and control of coolant are needed. Especially, water or air is used as a coolant to dissipate heat. The different temperature of each electric cells after cooling and the high temperature of the stack affect the performance of the stack, Therefore, it is necessary that the relationship between coolant, healing rate, width of slack, properties of stack, and the shape of water flow path must be understood. • As there are few documents about how to design and implement a sensor network with Z-Stack, developers can get information from developer's community on Internet. That takes longer time to develop the network. This paper presents how to design and implement a range measuring sensor network with Z-Stack's Generic application and ultrasonic sensors based on CC2530, and then show experimental results through the implemented network. This work will make less time for a developer to implement a sensor network with Z-Stack.

  • Several design parameters for a 100 kW molten carbonate fuel cell stack was described. Approximately 170 cells are required to generate 100 kW at a current density of $125\;mA/cm^{2}$ with $6000\;cm^{2}$ cells. An overall heat balance was calculated to predict exit temperature. In order to limit the stack temperature in the range of $600-700^{\circ}C$, current load cannot exceed $75\;mA/cm^{2}$ at atmospheric operation. The 100 kW power is expected only under pressurization. Recycle of cathode gas by more than 50% is recommended to run the stack at $125\;mA/cm^{2}$ and 3 atm. Manifolds should be designed based on gas flow rates for the suggested operating condition.

  • Purpose: Recently, high-rise buildings are popular in korea due to high rate of land usage and cost performance in urban area. However, high-rise building causes several problems such as safety issues, cooling/heating load, stack effect, disaster prevention etc. The stack effect is one of the representative problems. Even though there are many researches on stack effect, there are few studies on design guideline considering local condition. Method: This study focuses on the change of pressure distribution according to the design factors which affects the airflow in high-rise residential buildings by simulation analysis. In this study, city, building floor, stairwell door leakage area, elevator door leakage area and changes of layout were considered ad the design factor. Result: The simulation results indicate that building height and ambient air temperature are significant design factor for stack effect.

  • A high efficiency polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell stack was developed for pressurized pure hydrogen and oxygen supplying conditions. The design objective for the cell stack was to maximize the electric efficiency and to minimize exhaust-gas emissions from it simultaneously. To achieve this objective, the cell stack was designed to use pure hydrogen and oxygen as fuel and oxidant, respectively, and to be operated under high gas inlet pressures and in a stage-wise dead-end operation mode. Major components constituting the cell stack, such as membrane electrode assembly, bipolar-plate, and gasket, have been developed to meet a target durability even in severe operating conditions: high gas inlet pressures and usage of pure oxygen. A high-power fuel cell stack was assembled using these components to verify the performance. The cell stack showed a good performance in terms of the efficiency and maximum power output.

  • The main function of fuel cell manifold is to render reactants distribution as uniform as possible into a fuel cell stack. The purpose of this study is to numerically investigate the effects of stack manifold design on reactants distribution within a fuel cell stack. Four manifold designs with different manifold entrance shapes (expansion or diffuser) and different values of the extra width between the cell outer channel and manifold side wall are considered and applied to the fuel cell stack consisting of 50 cells. Since the fuel cell stack geometry involves several millions of grid points for numerical calculations, a parallel computing methodology is employed to substantially reduce the computational time and overcome the memory requirement. The numerical simulations are carried out and calculated results clearly demonstrate that both the manifold entrance shape and extra width have a substantial influence on manifold performance, controlling the degree of flow separation and entrance length for fully developed flow in the manifold channel. Finally, we suggest the optimum design of fuel cell manifold based on the simulation results.

  • Most of conventional DSS's(Digital Signage Systems) have been built based on LAMP framework. Recent researches have shown that MEAN or MERN stack framework is simpler, more flexible, faster and more suitable for web-based application than LAMP stack framework. In this paper, we propose a design and implementation of MEARN (ME(A+R)N) stack-based real-time digital signage system, MR-DSS, which supports handing real-time tasks like urgent/instant messaging, system status monitoring and so on, efficiently in addition to conventional digital signage CMS service tasks. MR-DSCMS, CMS of MR-DSS, is designed to provide most of its normal services by REST APIs and real-time services like urgent/instant messaging by Socket.IO base under MEARN stack environment. In addition to architecture description of components composing MR-DSS, design and implementation issues are clarified in more detail. Through experimental testing, it is shown that 1) MR-DSS works functionally well, 2) the networking load performance of MR-DSCMS's REST APIs is better compared to a well-known open source Xibo CMS, and 3) real-time messaging via Socket.IO works much faster than REST APIs.

  • A 50W class MCFC stack was operated in order to test a new design of the circular shaped separator. in the new design, the anode gas was supplied into the stack and was exhausted out of the stack after the anode reaction. The exhausted gas was reacted with the cathode gas supplied with excess oxygen in the vessel in which the stack was placed. Then the reacted gas flowed into the cathode side of the stack and was exhausted through the outlet located in the center of the stack. The average voltage of the single cells in the stack was 0.835V under the current density of $150mA/cm^2$, initially, and the degradation rate of the stack voltage was 1.7%/1,000h. High stack voltage with good stability of the present stack was due to the small temperature gradient in the stack. The small temperature gradient as well as the easiness of temperature control was the result of the new configuration of the separator which utilized the heat of the combustion reaction between anode outlet gas and the cathode inlet gas for heating the stack.

  • Study of stack effects in the early design stage is the most appropriate moment to draw any problems and provide the right solutions. However, In a real process, The pre-design planning stage review is not thoroughgoing enough to high-rise construction site. Therefore, this study has reviewed by selecting one of inappropriate project [D] to find the possible stack effect alternatives in an early design documentation stage and provide countermeasures to be a foundations of stack effect in the construction stages.
