The aging phenomenon of the BaTiO$_{3}$ ceramic capacitor (BaTiO$_{3}$ 세라믹 커패시터의 시효현상)

  • The aging of permittivity of a barium titanate dielectrics doped with La$_{2}$O$_{3}$ under zero and low DC field has been studied. The aging rate was decreased as the amount of La$_{2}$O$_{3}$ addition is increased to 3 mole%. The zero field aging rate of barium titahate doped with La$_{2}$O$_{3}$. 3TiO$_{2}$ was similar to that doped with La$_{2}$O$_{3}$.5V/mil DC field aging rate of La$_{2}$O$_{3}$.3TiO$_{2}$ doped sample, howeve, was lowered to that of La$_{2}$O$_{3}$ doped sample. When the phase transformation is occured from the paraelectric state to the ferroelectric state, 90.deg. domains are mucleated in order that the system becomes thermodynamically more stable. It is concluded that the aging phenomenon is occured as the dielectric constant is decreasing by the nucleation and growth of 90.deg. domains.

  • This paper presents design and implementation of the PCU(150 kVA 3-Phase PWM Inverter for Electric Vehicles). For Implementation of the PCU, it is consist with Case, Connectors, IGBT module for PWM switching, DC-capacitor for dc-source, resolver for sensing of speed & position, and PCB board for control & gate-driver. Also, for the purpose of stable operation of the PCU in vehicle with variable torque condition in motor, current control scheme based on torque-map are developed. According to real-car test mode, the prototype of proposed the PCU is verified with performance and stability. Thus, design and implement of the PCU are discussed, and experimental results are presented in this paper.

  • The ESS(energy storage system, here after) for a DC 1500V was developed in 2009. A ESS was installed on the track of Daejeon HRT in 2010. The advantage of the ESS is that it can save the energy and plus stable the catenary voltage. This paper presents the energy saved by the ESS in Daedong substation. When the ESS is on/off, the field tests are performed.

  • Transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) are essential material in optoelectronics such as solar cells, touch screens and light emitting diodes. Particularly TCOs are attractive material for infrared cut off film due to their high transparency in the visible wavelength range and high infrared reflectivity. Among the TCO, Indium tin oxide has been widely used because of the high electrical conductivity and transparency in the visible wavelength region. But ITO has several limitations; expensive and low environmental stability. On the other hands, fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) is well known for low cost, weather ability and stable in acidic and hydrogen. In this study, two different magnetron sputtering techniques with RF and DC modes at room temperature deposition of FTO thin film was conducted. The change of oxygen content is influence on the topography, transmittance and refractive index.

  • In this paper we presents a speed controller for separately excited DC motor using adaptive backstepping technique. The motor was modeled in two local areas the first model is a linear one when speed is under base speed, the other is nonlinear one when field weakening is used to obtain the speed well above base speed. Then linear robust state feedback controller was designed for the linear model while adaptive backstepping controller was designed for the nonlinear model. The adaptive backstepping technique takes system nonlinearity into account in the control system design stage. The proposed controller is proved to be asymptotically stable by the Lyapunov stability theory and some simulations have been carried out to test.

Determination of Low-temperature Electrochemical Properties of Selected Cation-exchange Membranes for Cathodic Protection Analysis

  • The electrochemical properties of Nafion type membranes as a function of temperature to examine the key factors affecting the cathodic protection process at low temperatures was investigated in this study. Variable temperature experiments for AC impedance, DC resistance were conducted. The resistances of 3 Nafion membranes (N 324, N 450, N MAC) were measured in 30% KOH (aq) for a range of temperatures between $-30^{\circ}C$ and room temperature. Membrane resistance increases exponentially with decreasing temperature. This behaviour is most significant at operational temperatures below $0^{\circ}C$. These membranes are stable under the low temperature and caustic conditions of the heat exchange system, but they place a much higher restriction on the cathodic protection of the stainless heat exchange stack. N 450 has the lowest AC impedence and DC resistance at temperatures below $0^{\circ}C$ and consequently is most suitable membrane of the three, for low temperature applications.

  • A new sensorless control strategy for brushless DC (BLDC) motors is proposed in this paper. This technique builds a rotor position-related flux function, which is independent of the speed. By observing the flux function, the information of rotor position and commutation can be obtained. As the function is not speed-related, this control process can be used in a wider range of speed and improves the motor's performance during startup. An experimental test bad based on TMS320F2812 has been built, and the experimental result indicates that the motor achieves a smooth starting-up and stable phase commutation with the proposed control strategy.

  • Photoplethsymogram (PPG) drifts due to the changes in respiration and blood perfusion as well as external light. This hinders a proper PPG measurement. We controlled DC drifts by controlling the signal ground of PPG signals. A microprocessor-based system successfully controlled DC drifts of PPG signals.

  • Increasing needs for rapid driving vehicles during rush hour, there are various researches how to operate or allocate rapid driving vehicles with the existing normal driving vehicles. In the aspect of power system, it should be preceded by an analysis for power equipment capacity. Also, it should be studied whether the added rapid driving vehicles gives a bad effects for stable operation of railway systems or not. In order to derive the results for these analysis processes, this paper suggest a novel analysis algorithm which can implement integrated analysis including rapid and normal driving railway vehicles simultaneously. This algorithm has been verified using Seoul Metro 7 Line data.

A High Efficiency and High Power Chopper Circuit QRAS using Soft Switching under Test Evaluation at 8kW

  • This paper is a record of the study on a high efficiency and high power chopper based on the new soft switching method QRAS (Quasi~resonant Regenerating Active Snubber) designed for a Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV). This power chopper is basically proposed for 25kHz soft switching. To confirm the practicality and effectiveness of the converter, the fabrication of a prototype-model using IGBTs was completed. Additionally, a 8kW rating test, a light load test, a current discontinuous mode test and a stable operation resonance test was completed. The circuit geometry, the basic operation, and the 8kW one-tenth-prototype test results are reported with a $97.5\%$ efficiency measurement.
