  • Minimum-time attitude maneuvers of three-axis stabilized spacecraft are presented to study the feasibility of using three magnetic torquers perform large angle maneuvers. Previous applications of magnetic torquers have been limited to spin-stabilized satellites or supplemental actuators of three axis stabilized satellites because of the capability of magnetic torquers to produce torques about a specific axes. The minimum-time attitude maneuver problem is solved by applying a parameter optimization method for orbital cases to verify that the magnetic torque system can perform as required. Direct collocation and a nonlinear programming method with a constraining method by Simpson's rule are used to convert the minimum-time maneuver problems into parameter optimization problems. An appropriate number of nodes is presented to find a bang-bang type solution to the minimum-time problem. Some modifications in the boundary conditions of final attitude are made to solve the problem more robustly and efficiently. The numerical studies illustrate that the presented method can provide a capable and robust attitude reorientation by using only magnetic torquers. However, the required maneuver times are relatively longer than when thrusters or wheels are used. Performance of the system in the presence of errors in the magnetometer as well as the geomagnetic field model still good.

  • In these days, use of proper soils for construction materials become more limited, but wasted soils are abundant; therefore, the method which can use wasted soil such as soft clay has been investigated. Air-foamed stabilized soil has been used widely, but never been used as a subgrade material. The aim of this study is to verify the use of air-foamed stabilized soil as the subgrade construction material. Several wasted soils such as soft clay was selected to make air-foamed stabilized soil mixtures. The air-foamed stabilized mixture design was conducted to find the optimum quantity of stabilizing agent (cement) and air-foamed, and the effect of cement quantity and air-foamed quantity on strength of air-foamed stabilized soil mixtures base on the test results of unconfined compression test was investigated. As the quantity of cement is increased, the strength is increased, but the quantity of air-foamed is increased and the strength is decreased. Elastic moduli based on unconfined compression strength were obtained to use as subgrade of railway track design.

  • In this paper, the robust design and tolerancing of the stabilized mirror is performed to increase its stabilization performance under vehicle vibration. Based on the sensitivity analysis, the seven important control factors are first identified, and then the optimal as well as robust values in the sense of Taguchi method are obtained. Finally, the tolerances associated with each design variables are determined based on a successive sensitivity analysis of the simulated system response so that the deviation in the response from the target value meets the specification requirements. The proposed tolerancing method features that it is a robust but conservative design method and that the computational effort is much less than the Monte Carlo simulation method.

  • Unlike fin-stabilized projectiles, there has been some difficulty measuring the attitudes of spin-stabilized projectiles during the long-range flight due to their high spin rates. In this work, solar and geomagnetic sensors were used to measure the attitude of a spin-stabilized projectile. A method to calculate the attitude of the projectile from the signals of the sensors was introduced as well as the methods to process the signals of the sensors. To validate the methods, the attitude of a projectile was calculated with the sensor signals from the actual flight data.

  • An experimental investigation was carried out to study the feasibility of using the stabilized sludge, as a backfill and cutoff-water materials for embanckment structures. for stabilizing of sludge, hydrated lime and quick lime was used as additive , and a series of tests was performed on the sludge and the stabilized sludge to examine their physical properties, compaction, compressive strength, hydraulic conducivity and consolication characteristics. From the test results, the physical and mechanical properteis of the stabilized sludge weremore improved as compared with the sludge. Especially from the viewpoint of physical porperty , consolidation or settlement and cutoff-water , quick lime is more effective than the hydraged lime as tabilizatio addtivie. But , viewpoint of compaction and shear strength, hydrated lime is more effective than the quick lime as stabilization additive. As a result of this study, it was founded that the stabilized sludge can be developed the backfill and cutoff-water materials , improved the stabilizing method of sludge.

  • This is a design and analysis of the D.C. highly stabilized power source. This appratus has 10**-7 order of the voltage regulation and 40V, 1.5A, continuosly variable D.C. output. Authors inspected the effect of the OP Amp, FET and the load circuit to the stationary and transient characteristics of the apparatus. Authors found that it is a useful method for high performance of the stabilized power source to utilize IC OP Amp and FET as the elements of it.

  • In this paper we propose and analyze two a posteriori error estimators for the stabilized $P_1/P_1$ finite element discretization of the Stokes equations. These error estimators are computed by solving local Poisson or Stokes problems on elements of the underlying triangulation. We establish their asymptotic exactness with respect to the velocity error under certain conditions on the triangulation and the regularity of the exact solution.

  • In this paper, we present and analyze a cell-centered collocated finite volume scheme for incompressible flows to compute solutions simultaneous to Stokes and Darcy equations by applying a pressure jump stabilization term to avoid locking. We prove that the new stabilized FV formulation satisfies a discrete inf-sup condition and error estimates for both problems. Finally, we present some numerical examples confirming this analysis.

  • An efficient meshfree method based on a stabilized conforming nodal integration method is developed for elastoplastic contact analysis of metal forming processes. In this approach, strain smoothing stabilization is introduced to eliminate spatial instability in Galerkin meshfree methods when the weak form is integrated by a nodal integration. The gradient matrix associated with strain smoothing satisfies the integration constraint for linear exactness in the Galerkin approximation. Strain smoothing formulation and numerical procedures for path-dependent problems are introduced. Applications of metal forming analysis are presented, from which the computational efficiency has been improved significantly without loss of accuracy.

  • A strain smoothing meshfree formulation with stabilized conforming nodal integration is presented for modeling the consolidation process in saturated porous media. In the present method, nodal strain smoothing is consistently introduced into the meshfree approximation of strain and pore pressure gradient variables associated with the saturated porous media. Meanwhile, in order to achieve a consistent numerical implementation, a smoothing approximation of the meshfree shape function within a nodal representative domain is also proposed in the stiffness construction. The resulting discrete system of equations is all expressed in smoothed nodal measures that are very efficient for numerical evaluation. Subsequently the space-time fully discrete equations are further established by the generalized trapezoidal rule for time integration. The effectiveness of the proposed meshfree consolidation analysis method is systematically illustrated by several benchmark problems.
