  • In order to seek a efficiency of site cooperation and slope stabilization in a rock sloping work, it would rather take into consideration, in its importance, a concurrent performance of civil works and landscaping works than give any part a special priority. It can enable us to achieve an expanded scope of landscaping works and improvement of slope scenery via this sort of cooperation. However, this can not be achieved without assurance on the slope stabilization and scenic view of the project owner, and further via this cooperation, environmentally familiar works can be performed, becoming natural environment and minimizing damages on surrounding scenery and environment. It is foreseeable that improvement of functions of civil equipment, introduction of technology and development of landscaping materials can facilitate an improvement in the betterment of slope scenery. Landscaping related parties need to enhance their understanding of rock sloping and scenic view based on knowledge on the fundermental understanding of slope stabilization and on the base rock characteristics.

전자선 처리된 PAN 나노섬유의 열안정화 효과 (Thermal Stabilization Effect of PAN Nanofibers Irradiated by Electron Beam Irradiation)

  • Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) is one of the most widely used precursor polymers for making high performance carbon fibers. Conversion of PAN fibers to good quality carbon fibers requires an essential stabilization step prior to carbonization. Electron beam irradiation is an excellent technique for modifying the physical properties of materials. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of electron beam irradiation on the stabilization reactions of PAN nanofibers. FT-IR analysis indicated that the stabilization of irradiated PAN nanofibers was initiated at a lower temperature. The TG curve of PAN nanofibers showed a significant decrease of weight loss step between 280 and $320^{\circ}C$. In the case of irradiated PAN nanofibers, weight loss sudden weight did not loss occurs.

중금속 안정화제의 반응 매개변수 결정 및 중금속 안정화 효율성 평가 (Determining Kinetic Parameters and Stabilization Efficiency of Heavy Metals with Various Chemical Amendment)

  • 본 연구는 수용액 내 존재하는 Cd, Pb을 다양한 화학적 안정화제를 이용하여 안정화 효율성을 평가하였다. 연구에 사용한 안정화제는 중금속 이온과의 반응특성 별로 석회물질, 광물질 등으로 구분하여 문헌조사를 바탕으로 5종을 선정하여 사용했다. 안정화 효율성 평가방법은 용액 내 중금속 함량을 단계적으로 제조하여 안정화 효율성, 반감기 및 반응속도 산정 및 반응 후 안정화제의 반응생성물 확인의 순으로 진행했다. 안정화 효율성 평가결과 석회물질 ($CaCO_3$)을 다량 함유하여 기본적으로 pH를 8이상으로 교정하는 안정화제의 경우 처리량에 상관없이 대부분 불용화되는 것으로 나타났으며, 낮은 산도교정 물질은 50% 수준의 효율성을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 효율성이 크게 나타난 물질을 대상으로 반응속도상수 (K)를 산출한 결과 Cd의 경우 처리량에 따라 증가하였지만, Pb의 경우 초기에 반응속도가 빠르게 일어나 처리량에 따른 평가는 불가능 하였다. 다량의 중금속 이온과 반응시킨 안정화제의 표면관찰을 통한 생성물 검정 결과 SEM 사진으로 반응 전 후의 생성물 확인을 간접적으로 확인하였다. 또한, SEM-EDS 분석결과 반응 후 물질 표면에서 Cd과 Pb의 성분 검출을 확인하였다. 그리고 XRD 분석을 통해 효율성이 좋았던 물질에서 Cd과 Pb 성분의 검출이 확인되어 수용액 상에 이온형태로 존재하는 중금속의 복원에 안정화제를 이용한 저감은 효율적일 것으로 판단된다.

광물찌꺼기에 함유된 오염물질의 안정화를 위한 표면 차폐재의 성능 평가 (Evaluation of Surface Water-preventing Materials on Stabilization of Contaminants in Tailings)

  • This study examined evaluation on stabilization of major and trace elements in tailings by various surface water-preventing materials. Six columns were filled with tailings of the Sinlim mine, then covered with tailings only, compacted soils, clay, soil-bentonite mixture, pozzolan and bentonite mat. After injection of artificial rain water, the leachate was sampled with times (3, 6, 9 and 12 pore volume) and analysed for major (Ca, Na, Mg, K) and trace elements (As, Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn) by ICP-AES. With exception to pozzolan type, the pH values of leachate from the other types became stabilized from 5.5 to 7.5, and EC (electric conductivity) of leachate from them decreased with times. For the pozzolan type, however, the pH and EC of leachate increased with time due to its alkalinity producing system. Concentrations of most major and trace elements in leachate decreased and stabilized with time. Consequently, soil-bentonite mixed cover shows the best ability of water-preventing and reducing mobility of elements in tailings site.

오존을 이용한 하수슬러지의 감량화와 안정화 (Reduction and Stabilization of Sewage Sludge by Ozonation)

  • In this study, ozone was adopted for the reduction and stabilization of waste sludge from the municipal sewage treatment plant. The waste sludge used in the experiments was primary sludge, excess sludge and a mixture of the two. The sludge cells and flocs were disrupted by ozonation resulting in the reduction of TSS and VSS concentrations. In the case of the primary sludge with a concentration of 20 gTS/L, the TSS and VSS concentrations were reduced 28%, 33% and the TCOD concentration was reduced 20% respectively. The consumption of ozone was $0.18gO_3/gSS$. In the case of the excess sludge with a concentration of 7.5 gTS/L, the TSS and VSS concentrations were reduced 37%, 41%, and the TCOD concentration was reduced 19% respectively. The consumption of ozone was $0.33gO_3/gSS$. In the case of the mixed sludge of 9.3 gTS/L, the TSS and VSS concentrations were reduced by 45%, 53%, and the TCOD was reduced 26% respectively. The desirable consumption of ozone was $0.27gO_3/gSS$. As ozonation proceeded, the level of SCOD increased due to the release of intracellular materials. However TCOD was reduced due to mineralization resulting from the transformation of organic materials to inorganic materials.

베트남 플라이애시 및 고로슬래그를 활용한 지반혼합공법용 지반안정재 개발을 위한 기초연구 (A Fundamental Study on the Development of Soil Stabilization Materials for Soil Mixing Method using Vietnam Fly Ash and Blast Furnace Slag)

  • 베트남에서 대량 발생하는 플라이애시는 누적 매립량이 약 1억톤에 이르고, 약 1억톤 정도이며, 고로슬래그 역시 약 585만톤 정도 발생하는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 이에 따라 최근 베트남에서도 플라이애시 및 고로슬래그를 재활용하기 위해 제도적으로 대응하고 있으나 아직 활발히 현장에 적용되지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 베트남 발생 플라이애시 5종에 대하여 기본 성능분석을 실시하였고, 베트남 발생 고로슬래그와 국내 발생 고로슬래그의 성능을 비교 평가하였다. 플라이애시와 고로슬래 그를 활용하여 지반안정재 압축강도시험, 지반혼합 고화토 일축압축강도 시험을 수행한 결과, 베트남 발생 플라이애시 및 고로슬래그를 지반안정재의 원료로 활용이 가능한 것을 확인하였다.

칼슘 도핑을 통한 고 에너지 밀도를 가지는 Ni-rich 층상 구조형 양극 소재의 안정화 (Stabilization of Nickel-Rich Layered Cathode Materials of High Energy Density by Ca Doping)

  • Lithium-ion batteries have been considered the most important devices to power mobile or small-sized devices due to their high energy density. $LixCoO_2$ has been studied as a cathode material for the Li-ion battery. However, the limitation of its capacity impedes the development of high capacity cathode materials with Ni, Mn, etc. in them. The substitution of Mn and Ni for Co leads to the formation of solid solution phase $LiNi_xMn_yCo_{1-x-y}O_2$ (NMC, both x and y < 1), which shows better battery performance than unsubstituted $LiCoO_2$. However, despite a high discharge capacity in the Ni-rich compound (Ni > 0.8 in the metal site), poor cycle retention capability still remains to be overcome. In this study, aiming to improve the stability of the physical and chemical bonding, we investigate the stabilization effect of Ca in the Ni-rich layered compound $Li(Ni_{0.83}Co_{0.12}Mn_{0.05})O_2$, and then Ca is added to the modified secondary particles to lower the degree of cationic mixing of the final particles. For the optimization of the final grains added with Ca, the Ca content (x = 0, 2.5, 5.0, 10.0 at.%) versus Li is analyzed.

수면이갈이 환자에서 교합안정장치 사용 후 교합력 및 동기능적교합분석: 예비 연구 (Changes of bite force and dynamic functional occlusion analysis after occlusal stabilization splint therapy in sleep bruxism patients: a pilot study)

  • 목적: 수면이갈이 환자에서 한달 간 수면 시 교합안정장치를 장착하였을 때 교합력과 교합 접촉 면적 및 동기능적교합분석의 변화량을 비교하고자 하였다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 2021년 10월부터 2022년 7월까지 연세대학교 치과대학병원 구강내과 외래에 방문한 수면이갈이 환자 30명 중 교합안정장치를 수면 중 착용하는 실험군(treatment; n = 15)과 교합안정장치를 착용하지 않는 대조군(control; n = 15)으로 구성하였다. 교합안정장치 장착 전, 장착 1개월 후에 교합력 검사와 동기능적교합분석(측방, 전후방 하악 운동 시 좌/우 힘의 균형, 평균 교합력, 최대 교합력, 최대 접촉 개수)을 진행하였다. 결과: 한달 간 수면 중 교합안정장치를 착용하는 실험군과 교합안정장치를 착용하지 않는 대조군에서 교합력과 교합 접촉 면적은 차이가 없었으나 측방 및 전후방 운동에서 평균 교합력과 최대 교합력, 전후방 운동에서 최대 접촉 개수가 유의한 차이가 있었음을 관찰하였다. 결론: 교합안정장치가 측방, 전후방 운동을 하는 이갈이 환자에게 도움이 될 것으로 사료되며, 향후 추가적으로 대단위 집단을 대상으로 하는 이중 맹검연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

Detection of SCC by Electrochemical Noise and In-Situ 3-D Microscopy

  • Stress-corrosion cracking (SCC) of alloy 600 and alloy 800 in 0.5 mol/L thiosulfate solution during constant strain was investigated using electrochemical noise (EN) combined with 3-D microscope techniques. The in-situ morphology observation and EN results indicate that the SCC process could be divided into three stages: (1) passive film stabilization and growth, (2) crack initiation, (3) and crack growth. Power Spectral Density (PSD) and the probability distribution obtained from EN were used as the "fingerprint" to distinguish the different processes. During passive film stabilization and growth, the current noise signals resembled "white noise": when the crack initiated, many transient peaks could be seen in the current noise and the wavelet energy at low frequency as well as the noise resistance decreased. After crack propagation, the noise amplitudes increased, particularly the white noises at low and high frequencies ($W_L$ and $W_H$) in the PSDs. Finally, the detection of metal structure corrosion in a simulated sea splash zone and pipeline corrosion in the atmosphere are established.

Recent progress in supported liquid membrane technology: stabilization and feasible applications

  • Supported Liquid Membranes (SLMs) have been widely studied as feasible alternative to traditional processes for separation and purification of various chemicals both from aqueous and organic matrices. This technique offers various advantages like active transport, possibility to use expensive extractants, high selectivity, low energy requirements and minimization of chemical additives. SLMs are not yet used at large scale in industrial applications, because of the low stability. In the present paper, after a brief overview of the state of the art of SLM technology the facilitated transport mechanisms of SLM based separation is described, also introducing the small and the big carrousel models, which are employed for transport modeling. The main operating parameters (selectivity, flux and permeability) are introduced. The problems related to system stabilization are also discussed, giving particular attention to the influence of membrane materials (solid membrane support and organic liquid membrane (LM) phase). Various approaches proposed in literature to enhance SLM stability are also reviewed. Modification of the solid membrane support, creating an additional layer on membrane surface, which acts as a barrier to LM phase loss, increases system stability, but the membrane permeability, and then the flux, decrease. Stagnant Sandwich Liquid Membrane (SSwLM), an implementation of the SLM system, results in both high flux and stability compared to SLM. Finally, possible large scale applications of SLMs are also reviewed, evidencing that if the LM separation process is opportunely carried out (no production of byproducts), it can be considered as a green process.
