In this study, in order to propose an efficient model to predict the torque capacity of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams, the existing experimental data related to torsional response of beams is reviewed. It is observed that existing data neglects the effects of some parameters on the variation of torque capacity. Thus, an experimental research was also conducted to obtain the effects of neglected parameters. In the experimental study, a total of seventeen SFRC beams are tested against torsion. The parameters considered in the experiments are concrete compressive strength, steel fiber aspect ratio, volumetric ratio of steel fibers and longitudinal reinforcement ratio. The effect of each parameter is discussed in terms of torque versus unit angle of twist graphs. The data obtained from this experimental research is also combined with the data got from previous studies and employed in artificial neural network (ANN) analysis to estimate the ultimate torque capacity of SFRC beams. In addition to parameters considered in the experiments, aspect ratio of beam cross-section, yield strengths of both transverse and longitudinal reinforcements, and transverse reinforcement ratio are also defined as parameters in ANN analysis due to their significant effects observed in previous studies. Assessment of the accuracy of ANN analysis in estimating the ultimate torque capacity of SFRC beams is performed by comparing the analytical and experimental results. Comparisons are conducted in terms of root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE) and coefficient of efficiency ($E_f$). The results of this study revealed that addition of steel fibers increases the ultimate torque capacity of reinforced concrete beams. It is also found that ANN is a powerful method and a feasible tool to estimate ultimate torque capacity of both normal and high strength concrete beams within the range of input parameters considered.
Excitation mechanism of interference effect between two tall buildings is investigated with wind tunnel experiments. Synchronized building surface pressure and flow field measurements by particle image velocimetry (PIV) are conducted to explore the relationship between the disturbed wind flow field and the consequent wind load modification for twin buildings in tandem. This reveals evident excitation mechanisms for the fluctuating across-wind loads on the buildings. For small distance (X/D < 3) between two buildings, the disturbed flow pattern of impaired vortex shedding is observed and the fluctuating across-wind load on the downstream building decreases. For larger distance ($X/D{\geq}3$), strong correlation between the across-wind load of the downstream building and the oscillation of the wake of the upstream building is found. By further analysis with conditional sampling and phase-averaged techniques, the coherent flow structures in the building gap are clearly observed and the wake oscillation of the upstream building is confirmed to be the reason of the magnified across-wind force on the downstream building. For efficient PIV measurement, the experiments use a square-section high-rise building model with geometry scale smaller than the usual value. Interference factors for all three components of wind loads on the building models being surrounded by another identical building with various configurations are measured and compared with those from previous studies made at large geometry scale. The results support that for interference effect between buildings with sharp corners, the length scale effect plays a minor role provided that the minimum Reynolds number requirement is met.
This paper presents experiment and bearing capacity analyses of steel dual-lintel column (SDC) joints in Chinese traditional style buildings. Two SDC interior joints and two SDC exterior joints, which consisted of dual box-section lintels, circular column and square column, were designed and tested under low cyclic loading. The force transferring mechanisms at the panel zone of SDC joints were proposed. And also, the load-strain curves at the panel zone, failure modes, hysteretic loops and skeleton curves of the joints were analyzed. It is shown that the typical failure modes of the joints are shear buckling at bottom panel zone, bending failure at middle panel zone, welds fracturing at the panel zone, and tension failure of base metal in the heat-affected zone of the joints. The ultimate bearing capacity of SDC joints appears to decrease with the increment of axial compression ratio. However, the bearing capacities of exterior joints are lower than those of interior joints at the same axial compression ratio. In order to predict the formulas of the bending capacity at the middle panel zone and the shear capacity at the bottom panel zone, the calculation model and the stress state of the element at the panel zone of SDC joints were studied. As the calculated values showed good agreements with the test results, the proposed formulas can be reliably applied to the analysis and design of SDC joints in Chinese traditional style buildings.
Grouting is an operation often carried out to consolidate and seal the rock mass in dam sites and tunnels. One of the important parameters in this operation is grouting pressure. In this paper, analytical models used to estimate pressure are investigated. To validate these models, grouting data obtained from Seymareh and Aghbolagh dams were used. Calculations showed that P-3 model from Groundy and P-25 model obtained from the results of grouting in Iran yield the most accurate predictions of the pressure and measurement errors compared to the real values in P-25 model in this dams are 12 and 14.33 Percent and in p-3 model are 12.25 and 16.66 respectively. Also, SPSS software was applied to define the optimum relation for pressure estimation. The results showed a high correlation between the pressure with the depth of the section, the amount of water take, rock quality degree and grout volume, so that the square of the multiple correlation coefficient among the parameters in this dams were 0.932 and 0.864, respectively. This indicates that regression results can be used to predict the amount of pressure. Eventually, the relationship between the parameters was obtained with the correlation coefficient equal to 0.916 based on the data from both dams generally and shows that there is a desirable correlation between the parameters. The outputs of the program led to the multiple linear regression equation of P=0.403 Depth+0.013 RQD+0.011 LU-0.109 V+0.31 that can be used in estimating the pressure.
This paper is a study on the behavior of Concrete-Filled Square Tubular(CFST) column to H-beam connections reinforced with external stiffeners and reinforcing bar. The cyclic loading tests of 5 test specimens were carried out. The main Parameters are as follows; 1)the length of the stiffener: 200mm, 250mm, 2)the diameter of reinforcing bar: HD16, 19. The results of the researches demonstrate that the increase of the stiffener length was more effective than the increase of the area of reinforcing bar in the point of both strength and stiffness. By reinforcing external stiffeners, stable hysteretic behavior was shown and plastic hinge was formed on the beam flange. Cold-formed tube sections should be used carefully to avoid the welding fracture at the round corners of section, and the proposed welding methods are suitable for this connections.

The Aerosol Deposition (AD) process will be proposed as a new fabrication technology for the integrated RF modules. $\alpha$-A1$_2$O$_3$ thick films were successfully grown on glass and Al substrates at room temperature by the AD process. Relative dielectric permittivity and loss tangent of the $Al_2$O$_3$ thick films on Al showed 9.5 and 0.005, respectively. To form microstrip lines on aerosol-deposited A1903 thick films, copper electroplating and lithography processes were employed, and the square-type cross section with sharp edges could be obtained. Low-pass LC filters with 10 GHz cutoff frequency were simulated by an electromagnetic analysis, exhibiting the validity of the AD process as a fabrication technology f3r integrated RF modules.

This research aimed to suggest a standard design that reflects Hanok design tendency, and present a selective design that can fulfill a building owner's intention beyond the simple function of building permit or report. In addition, this research attempted to become a standard by establishing a criterion in calculating the measurements of section design or primary framework members, in order to be a guideline for designing Hanok in different sizes and forms. The results are as follows. The building area of Hanok standard design was set to be below $85m^2$, with a straight type of $83.16m^2$ and an L-shape of $84.24m^2$. By dividing the plane into a straight type and L-shape, two straight types were suggested: 'general type' and 'large living room type.' The upper floor space, along with the main room and small room, was proposed as an option to be changed into a room where an underfloor heating is installed depending on the building owner's intention. In addition, a criterion for side design and calculation of framework measurements was suggested and applied, while a five-girder design without high pillars was suggested for material-assembling structure. Two types of pillars-circumference and square cylinder-were proposed for the building owner to choose from, and a pointed beam house and ikgong(orthogonally-projected bracket) house were suggested for pojak bracket structure so either of them could be chosen according to the building owner's taste and economic condition. Finally, the sectional size of main materials were divided according to the form of pojak bracket structure to be proposed.
As the corner of wooden pagoda forms the roof by closely bordering left and right eaves on the various purlins and angle rafters, it is designed for every face to be recognized as front whose structure system increases load to bear proportionally. The corner of wooden pagoda is inseparable with the corner bracket set as it becomes stable thanks to the corner bracket set structurally and load burden under restrained structure makes the corner bracket set really important. Accordingly, this study could figure out some facts by analyzing corner bracket sets of Palsangjeon of Beobjusa Temple in Korea, Seokgatap of Bulgungsa Temple in China and Ojungtap of Beobryungsa Temple in Japan which were constructed with pure wooden structure. This study demonstrated that corner bracket set played a pivotal role in keeping balance of concentrated load of corner (corner of opening) in each floor that contributed to the stability of wooden pagoda structurally despite multiple duplications of floors and also figured out the outfit of corner bracket set was subject to the floor type and the cross section of Gongpo installed on top of Pyeongju. Wooden pagodas in 3 countries were two floor types of octagon and square, and employed different connection method between upper and lower floors. The difference between floor and duplication method determines the method of corner, but even different methods were sufficient to have entirety in every side by completing dynamic principle of corner bracket set even though old method had to solve the problem of concentrated load and it also confirms that it was essential Gongpo to prevent any deformation of corner.
PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to compare the cutting method and the lamination method to investigate whether the CAD data of the proposed inlay shape are machined correctly. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The Mesial-Occlusal shape of the inlay was modeled by changing the stereolithography (STL). Each group used SLS (metal powder) or SLA (photocurable resin) in the additive method, and wax or zirconia in the subtractive method (n=10 per group, total n=40). Three-dimensional (3D) analysis program (Geomagic Control X inspection software; 3D systems) was used for the alignment and analysis. The root mean square (RMS) in the 2D plane state was measured within $50{\mu}m$ radius of eight comparison measuring points (CMP). Differences were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance and post-hoc Tukey's test were used (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. There was a significant difference in RMS only in SLA and SLS of 2D section (P<.05). In CMP mean, CMP 4 ($-5.3{\pm}46.7{\mu}m$) had a value closest to 0, while CMP 6 ($20.1{\pm}42.4{\mu}m$) and CMP 1 ($-89.2{\pm}61.4{\mu}m$) had the greatest positive value and the greatest negative value, respectively. CONCLUSION. Since the errors obtained from the study do not exceed the clinically acceptable values, the lamination method and the cutting method can be used clinically.
Saline water movements in relation to tidal condition and river discharge in the estuary of the Nakdong River are discussed on the basis of the observation data. The difference of salinity between the surface and the bottom layer was 1∼3 at spring tide forming a vertically homogeneous estuary, while at neap tide, it ranges up to 7∼15 indicating a sharp salt wedge. The maximum salinity appeared approximately at an hour after the high water, that is, three hours after the landward velocity maximum, while the salinity maximum at around an hour after the low water, that is, three hours after the seaward velocity maximum. The density current speed at a section located 10km landward from the river mouth was observed approximately to be 45cm sec$\^$-1/ at 8m layer. The relations between the salinity at Gupo and the river discharge at Jindong are estimated by means of the least square method. The maximum length of the salt wedge is calculated approximately to be 22km at neap tide and 16km at spring tide, which is in accordance with the observed data. The salinity influence area is deduced to be 45km at spring tide and 35km at neap tide. The diffusion coefficient of salinity was estimated approximately to be 1.5 10$\^$8/$\textrm{cm}^2$ sec$\^$-1/ at Samrak and 8 10$\^$5/$\textrm{cm}^2$ sec$\^$-1/ at Gupo at neap tide, while it was 1.4 10$\^$7/$\textrm{cm}^2$ sec$\^$-1/ at Dongwon at spring tide.
